Abbie Mullins - Childbirth Education & Lactation, LLC: what do users think?
Samantha Cox: My mother in-law recommended taking a Lamaze class as my husband and I are expecting our first baby. With a quick google search, I stumbled upon Abbie who had excellent reviews and went for it not knowing what to expect. I took the newborn care class in addition to Lamaze and I can not recommend her more. I was initially intimidated at the thought of 3 hour long classes for 5 weeks, but each class flew by as it was hands on, informative, and has significantly decreased my overall anxiety about giving birth. I really enjoyed the size of the class as we spent it with about 4 other couples. It was a healthy mix of lectures, videos, hands on learning, and discussion. She truly knows her stuff, and if she doesn't, goes out of her way to find out. She is passionate about what she does and has so much experience in a variety of settings. She is also just funny, energetic, and extremely personable. I am due in about 3 weeks, and already plan to see her again for breastfeeding. I rarely give reviews, but she deserves it!
Amy Jacobs: Abbie is fantastic! After an extremely rough delivery, she made my postpartum journey feel immensely more manageable and helped my confidence with nursing. The follow-up she provided after each visit was super helpful, and her attention and prompt communication made it feel like I was her only client. Having the option of in-home consultations was amazing. I couldn’t be more appreciative of her or recommend her services more strongly.
JENNIFER HUDSON SEHLKE (HudsonHeart Doula, LLC): I have referred several clients to Abbie for Childbirth Ed classes and as a Lactation Consultant. In the very beginning of my doula career, I would refer clients to her once baby was born. After receiving such incredibly positive feedback from those clients, I now encourage pregnant clients to connect with Abbie prior to birth to be more prepared & confirm any insurance. Everyone of my clients who has hired Abbie as a Lactation Consultant has been beyond grateful for my referral. She is most definitely an expert & we are lucky to have her in our community.
Rachel Hopman-Droste: I was overwhelmed in the first few weeks of my breastfeeding journey. When I learned my son was underweight, I knew I needed help. I am so fortunate to have Abbie’s help through multiple in-person sessions and chat support. Abbie provided specific and timely recommendations based on our needs, as well as continued researching other methods for health support. Abbie is a wealth of knowledge and made me feel empowered to continue my breastfeeding journey. My son has made significant improvements and I am relieved to see the progress we have made thanks to Abbie!
Christine Lundberg: Abbie was an excellent teacher! We attended the 5 week Prenatal Lamaze Childbirth Series and my wife and I learned so much! The series felt inclusive and by the end of the class, I felt confident, educated, and excited for birth!
Michelle: Abbie was a huge blessing to our family in so many ways beyond just breastfeeding help. She is incredibly knowledgeable and uses that knowledge to help you find what's best for you and your baby. No judgment, fully supportive, and gently handled some low moments with my postpartum hormones with so much grace and encouragement. The Lansing area is incredibly fortunate to have her available to them. We personally had issues of our little girl being bottle fed in the hospital and couldn't switch back, and low supply from PCOS. We couldn't get to perfect full breastfeeding due to my supply issues, but I am still implementing all her tools she taught us, and doing everything I can, but she made a huge difference in what nursing looks like today compared to how it looked at the beginning for us. You won't regret calling her for help if you're struggling with anything, it's so helpful to have someone like Abbie alongside of your journey, wherever you're at.
Samantha Gutzki: At about one week postpartum, I realized I needed help with breastfeeding if I was going to be able to continue on the journey with my second child. I found Abbie and booked her right away. After getting a tongue and lip tie released, I met with Abbie at 1.5 weeks postpartum and she helped correct our latch, helped me feel confident in how to care for my daughter’s tie releases, and generally gave me the emotional support I so desperately needed at the time. After our first visit, I was able to feed my baby at the breast with very minimal pain, felt confident that she was getting the amount of milk she needed, and so much more. We did a follow up appointment and I used her chat support, both of which helped me feel confident in the breastfeeding journey. Abbie - thank you so much for your support. You are a gift I am so grateful for.
Sari Brown: Abbie was a godsend for my son and me. Our situation seemed almost hopeless, as he was unable to latch barely at all and much less to feed effectively at the breast, and my milk supply started out extremely low and raised to a full supply only very slowly with a lot of grueling work. Abbie helped us through so much uncertainty and helped us find all the resources and treatments we needed to finally achieve a successful breastfeeding relationship. I didn’t give up and neither did she, even though it was very uncertain if we would even be able to breastfeed and it didn’t really start working as his main way of feeding until he was 8 weeks old. And she always made me feel that even if breastfeeding didn’t work, I was doing the best I possibly could for my baby and myself. She is not only incredibly knowledgeable and skilled but also a deeply wise, empathetic presence on the journey.
Shelby Spaulding: Abbie is an AMAZING, AMAZING resource to breastfeeding moms. I could not recommend her more!! I contacted her when our son was days old and we were struggling to nurse. Then again when he was a few weeks old to help with latching difficulties. Then again when my son went on a nursing strike. Every time I’m blown away at her knowledge and how she really has a teacher’s heart to help you understand. Not only is she knowledgeable but she is super friendly and kind, which is what all struggling mamas need!!If you’re debating whether to schedule an appointment or not, DO IT! I always walk away from our sessions feeling more equipped to tackle the problem at hand.
Maggie Wade: Abbie was somebody I wasn’t sure I needed because I had other LC support, however, I do not regret setting up a visit with her in the slightest. She was recommended to me at my OB office to help with all aspects of nursing when I went to get treatment for Mastitis along other issues. From setting up our consultation to our actual visit, and our two weeks of follow up, everything went so smoothly. Abbie has a great knowledge of all lactation needs. She helped me improve our latch and also helped me figure out how to make pumping more comfortable. Our two weeks of follow up was so beneficial as well. I messaged her with issues I was having, she responded in a very reasonable time, gave helpful feedback, then dug deeper into my problem. Through our discussion, she gave me feedback and guidance that was so helpful. She helped me figure out a problem I had with my first born that I thought was something I just had to live with. I would HIGHLY recommend her services to anybody who needs help. She is an absolute angel.
Alethia Kasben: Abbie was a great resource for me during and after pregnancy. Took three of her classes while pregnant & saw her three times once baby Lucy was here for help with breastfeeding. I cannot recommend her enough! So knowledgeable and comforting. We are almost 5 months into breastfeeding and don't know if we would be here without Abbie!
Courtney: Abbie was absolutely wonderful to work with. She is very knowledgable and is open to providing insight into all childbirth options. I learned so much from the 5 week childbirth course and am feeling much less nervous as my due date approaches.
Emily Frankman: We took Abbie’s virtual Lamaze class and had a terrific experience. Both my spouse and I feel much more confident in the labor and delivery process now that we’ve had her course. I would highly recommend those who are pregnant to take her class to learn about the basics and beyond! We have since signed up for Abbie’s breastfeeding and newborn care classes because we appreciate her knowledge and expertise.
Sarah Ewart: Abbie is extremely knowledgeable, helpful and engaging!
Erika Nederveld: I had a virtual consultation during the pandemic lock-down and she was able to answer all my questions and provide helpful advice on latching and posture.
Austin Elizabeth: I would recommend this class to anyone who is looking for a more laid back and intimate atmosphere to learn about childbirth. Abbie is knowledgable and energetic, always keeping you engaged. It is very interactive and encouraging for partners who are unfamiliar with how to be involved during the labor and delivery process.
Justine Rasche: My consultation with Abbie was the best money we have spent towards our children's health. Breastfeeding is very challenging, but especially as a new twin mom we have struggled since day one. Abbie addressed all of our concerns, evaluated our babies very closely, made referrals, and worked with me on pumping/positioning. Everything she went over was super helpful and she was so professional. Would absolutely recommend her for any new mom or anyone having breastfeeding issues!
Tess: I loved working with Abbie. I had a lot of fear and anxiety about birth. Abbie’s class was informative and hands on, leaving both me and my partner feeling empowered and ready to welcome our daughter into the world! We ended up using a lot of the techniques we learned in the class during labor and it ended up being an amazing experience. Abbie, thank you for all you did to help prepare us and encourage us!
Bill Kelly: The most informative, fun, and interesting class you could take on labor, birth, and breastfeeding!
Atanas Iliev: Very professional, approachable, and educational experiance for me and my wife. Dont waste your time anywhere else.
Abigail Richeson: Abbie was so great to work with. This was a truly invaluable experience. I was so much more confident with breastfeeding after my daughter was born because of everything I learned from Abbie. The continued support throughout my breastfeeding journey were fantastic too. Abbie helped me keep going and gave me great advice, especially when I struggled with low supply in the beginning and with every new challenge that came up along the way. Highly recommend Abbie Mullins for breastfeeding support and education.

Mother's Heart Birthing Services: what do users think?
Lauren T: If you are thinking of hiring a doula, Caty is an excellent choice! She has been so helpful and supportive throughout the whole process. She is so knowledgeable and passionate about her work. We felt so grateful to have her as part of our birth team! Thank you again, Caty!! ❤️
Heather Murphy: Caty was wonderful to work with- kind, knowledgable, and incredibly supportive. She made my birth a special experience and provided wonderful support as I transitioned into an unplanned c-section. She is also a very talented birth photographer! I highly recommend her services.
Jessica Tess: I had a wonderful experience with Caty as my doula. She thoroughly explained many topics related to the birthing process with helpful handouts and patiently answered all of our questions. I never felt pressured or judged based on any of our choices related to the birth plan that Caty helped us put together. We felt calm and prepared (as much as you can!) approaching my due date for our first child. I wanted to keep many of my options open even if my intention was to do things as naturally as possible, which Caty helped us do. She provided comforting words and a calm presence, as well as soothing massage while I labored is various birthing positions. She also helped me get started breastfeeding my son in that initial hour after birth. Her visits before and after the birth were reassuring and educating. Finally, her birth photography beautifully captured the moments I will want to look back on the rest of my life. I highly recommend Caty as part of your birth team!
AJ's Place: I was referred to Caty from my birthing doula as I was interested in having my placenta encapsulated. Best decision! Caty was informative and thorough. The process was incredibly smooth. I recommend anyone who has an interest in having their placenta encapsulated to do it and to utilize Cary’s services!
Rachel Stock: I highly recommend hiring Caty. She compassionately assisted me and my partner as we welcomed our son. She fully supported my natural birth plan and expertly prepared me for what would happen if things didn’t go exactly as planned (and they never do!). Not only did she support me, but she empowered my partner to know how to care for me with her helpful guidance and excellent suggestions. She was available, professional, and responsive from the initial phone call to our first latch to our last appointment. She taught us how to advocate for our needs and ask the right questions. The bundle of services she offers (birth support, lactation expertise and photography) cannot be beat. As first time parents, we couldn’t be happier with our investment in a doula, especially one of Caty’s caliber. You won’t regret inviting Caty to help you throughout your birthing journey.
Angela Rankins: Caty gave me & my family an absolutely fabulous experience. I connected with her instantly and felt extremely supported along the way. She was always available to give her advice and provided research-based information as I had questions. During labor, Caty was the best emotional and physical support I could’ve asked for. She helped me focus my energy to get through my natural birth. Her voice, words, & touch were more comforting than I can express. She knew just how to rub my back in places to ease my contractions and what to say, which seemed like a miracle at the time. She helped keep the atmosphere calm, nurturing, and supportive, and I highly recommend the experience to anyone preparing for a baby. Furthermore, Caty also provided placenta encapsulation services, which was a comfort to have for postpartum.  She encapsulated my placenta for me, and they were so professional and great. I’ve loved having these pills during postpartum time! They also provided me with much-needed lactation support.
Jim Keat: While a doula obviously does a lot to help the pregnant person, they are also incredibly helpful to the partner as well. My wife and I had Caty with us for two deliveries and I couldn’t image going through it without her. From the way she coaches and sports is both to her advocacy with the medical team to her calm and focused presence, off you’re giving birth you need a doula and if you’re getting a doula it needs to be Caty.
Emily Measel: Caty is an absolute pleasure to work with. From our first “meet and greet” call I knew she was the doula for me.I had a hospital birth during Covid, so I was only allowed to have a partner and a doula with me. If my husband and I were alone, my birth probably would not have been a very positive experience.I did all the research and read all the books, but when there’s an ACTUAL doctor looking you in the eye telling you they want to go a direction you don’t agree with, it becomes so much harder to advocate for yourself. My birth didn’t go as I had hoped (I had to be induced because of gestational hypertension) but thanks to Caty I felt safe and confident in my decisions the whole time.Caty has an incredible ability to sense what a laboring mama needs. For example, when I had a contraction, she would immediately walk over and apply counter pressure. I didn’t have to ask. She just knew that’s what I needed. She also works really well with your spouse/partner so they can help and feel involved.I will definitely be hiring Caty again for baby #2.
Devan Przywara: Caty is an amazing doula! The idea of giving birth has always scared me, but in that moment, with her guidance, expertise, and comfort, I’ve never felt more empowered and fearless. I think she really empowered my husband as well. Caty was also extremely helpful during the first few weeks with all my postpartum questions and concerns and helped me navigate a lot of breastfeeding issues I was experiencing. No matter what kind of birth you envision for yourself, I highly recommend having Caty be a part of that.
Alexandra Lambertson: Caty is an amazing doula! My husband and I knew we wanted extra support with planning the birth of our first child and someone to help advocate for us during the labor and delivery process. After vetting a few different doulas, Caty came in at the top of my list with her gentleness, her preparedness (she had handouts and info to share after our consult!!), and her professionalism. She educated us on the childbirth process, partner support, laboring comfort techniques, as well as birth interventions and alternatives. She even helped us write out a comprehensive and concise birth plan when we were still planning for a hospital birth. We switched our plan to a home-birth late in our pregnancy, and Caty was nothing but supportive. When my delivery did not go as planned and I was transferred to the hospital anyway, Caty’s training on how to advocate for myself kicked into high gear and I was able to confidently stand my ground on not receiving interventions that we had researched and I knew I did not want (she unfortunately was not permitted by the hospital to attend the actual birth due to current health restrictions). She was a staple to providing me relief during contractions throughout my 20 hour labor at home (she is so strong and encouraging!!). During our postpartum visit, she helped me talk through and process my labor and delivery (which is such a helpful thing to do and I recommend it to every new momma). She also assisted with breastfeeding education that helped my baby and I get off to a good start in our breastfeeding journey. She connected us to an amazing local IBCLC who furthered that journey in a positive direction.Caty offered to take photos during my labor and delivery. She beautifully captured my labor with my birthing team at home with photos that I will cherish forever (and if you’re on the fence about getting photos, do it! It’s such a joy to be able to look back on!).My husband and I truly cannot say enough good things about our experience with Caty as our doula! We highly recommend her!
