Consumers Energy: what do users think?
Joshua Knopps: Absolutely greedy broken system. I canceled my old apartment and they never issued the cancelation and now I am paying for an apartment I don't live in and won't do anything to help or fix their issue
Steve Charteris: Nobody would choose them if there were literally any other choice.
Leslie Lane: I have the service plan and was my furnace and hot water heater. Someone kept canceling my appointments. Took me 2 extra days to finally get some help. They just fix stuff and don’t replace anything. Awful experience.
Alyssa Murray: I had the pleasure meeting Carolyn, while at the payment center on Willow st. She was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! Not only did she help us with our complicated situation, she also helped us navigate through a mountain of paperwork!! We then forgot our marriage license at the office and Carolyn called us to let us know she would be mailing it to us! Thank you Carolyn for being so kind and helpful today!!
Gary Frayer: Worst energy provider. Raising rates during peak times!!!! Bunch of B.S. can I give ZERO stars?
Sierra Tamez: I am not enrolled in auto pay and never do for utilities as I check my bill every month to ensure accuracy. Let me start off by the text reminders are life saving. Always on time and always consistent. There was one time I called in here and expected to wait and have bad service considering the reviews bit she helped me switch my payment method and was really nice and quick! I had another incident where my power lines were down because of the wind storm this past summer and they were responsive and quick. Really appreciate how hard they work and how efficient they get the job done.
CJ: SHAMEFUL!!.. MONOPOLY!!..MY BILL IS MOREEEE THAN DOUBLED BECAUSE OF THEIR "OTHER CHARGES".. AND "DISTRIBUTION" FEES..PAYING FOR ELECTRIC AT CONSUMERS ENERGY IS AS HIGH AS RENT SHOULD BE NOW!.. THIER SMART METERS ARE TRASH.. AND SO IS THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE !DONT MOVE TO MID MICHIGAN.. WRITE YOUR CONGRESSMAN.. OR MOVE AWAY.. OR GO OFF GRID.. SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS CROOKED COMPANY RIPPING PEOPLE OFF!
amber petersen: Their idea of a protection plan is charge a low income family $486 month. What are they protecting us from electricity. I we're only good enough for candlelight since we won't be able to afford to turn on the lights. Wondering how many will freeze to because of this company. The only thing they protect is their bottom line.
May Byrne: The worst! The absolute worst. They shut me off and even after getting assistants from the government they keep charging me my bill from only two months! Only two months and I'm already being charged almost 2,000$ my bill isn't supposed to be that high not for only two months! This is really gouging people!
Bruce Carpenter: Would give zero if I could! This monopoly of a company is TRASH! I lose power 15-20 times a year when the wind blows. Always last in the entire state to get my power back and they sure as hell can't give me a valid reason why! Smart meters are a JOKE. A few months after mine was installed I received a bill for over $1400 when my bill is always around $300. I guess this is the price we pay for allowing one company to monopolize the power grid.
Shelby: Reported a natural gas leak - was told to evacuate the area and that I'd be called if the gas was shut off. Not only did they shut the gas off and never once call me, but when I called again to ask if it was safe to return, the receptionist insisted that the technician could not call me about that, and that I would have to stay on the premise to talk to him in person. One sentence later she told me to evacuate again. If people are evacuating an area, you can't exactly talk to them face to face (duh?). Horribly unclear instructions and lack of planning.
Robert Nelson: This place and it's workers are evil and heartless less then a month overdue and with 3 toddlers I explain I'm going to pay not only the past due but the whole bill in 2 days and I get told to bad good day then the woman silences her mic and waits for me to use an inappropriate word while talking to my girlfriend to jump back on the phone and say she's disconnecting the call due to inappropriate language so they'll spy on you to be careful when they say your "on hold"
le liu: Terrible experience.
Ethan Nayback: Great service and customer care
Free Munny: Threatening to turn my gas off over $9.. pitiful. They actually put that on a notice. Do the world a favor there mr consumer energy and make it a better place without you.
Carrot C: END THE UTILITY MONOPOLY. CONSUMERS ILLEGALLY CHARGES ABOVE THE STATE GAS RATES AND DOES NOT HAVE TO CARE AS THEY ARE A MONOPOLY. MAYBE ITS TIME WE ALL STOP PAYING?
Kyle VanErdewyk: I love how this company boasts about all the donations it gives, talks about how it's "for the people". Yet it's somehow illegally the only energy company in the u.s. that's able to deviate from the state set costs of energy. During a financial crisis, and during a time of high gas and inflation, they increase their rates 50% during the summer and call it a "Deterrent". What a funny way to say "we're lying, and illegally deviating as an excuse and opportunity to take more money from you!"Donate less of those millions to wherever and give back to your customer by reducing rates, and stop deviating from a legally set schedule that you have no authority to deviate from.
Kathleen Danz: Need to update my billing info and have called 4 times only to find a messed up recording that hangs up in you. Four times! Totally unprepared and I'm terribly aggravated ! Glad I don't have a gas leak. I suppose I'd have to drive there to report it
Linda Boyle: Thank you for prosoils great job fixing my driveway. They are the best..
Ryan McHale: I don’t really have too many problems with Consumers, but whatever you do, do not use their “Budget Plan” option. This was great initially for me to keep a steady and easy to manage bill. I understood at the time that there will be an annual true-up to account for any amounts over/under.What I didn’t know is how large that true up would end up being. I’d been on the plan for over a year, you’d think they would have a pretty good idea how much my monthly bill should be, guess not, because I had it on auto pay I didn’t really notice until recently, the outstanding balance keeps climbing and reached nearly $500 in the last 6-months. I’ve heard of some getting up to $2,000!Consumers, you need a way better system to estimate those bills. A customer should not accumulate a $1,000 balance by the end of the year, try 10x less to be reasonable.
sandra cardenas: I would like to recognize Kevin Moore for coming out and going above and beyond when we called about a gas at our next door neighbors house. He was very friendly and he even checked our house to make sure it was safe. I was truly greatful. God bless you Kevin and thank you again.

Upper Peninsula Power Co: what do users think?
JumpswithGoats: I would love to see UPPCO's profit margin from generating electrons and pumping them up to the Keweenaw. I'm sure the Monopoly guy would stand in awe. I think the only racket more blatant with usury would be Religion. On a positive note it just motivates me to get solar panels and Tesla batteries.

DTE Energy - State Government Affairs: what do users think?
Jacob Lippe: Highway robbery. Incredibly rude also.
Brian Town: Back in March DTE crews came out and had to dig up in our front yard to power a new build next to us. There are huge holes and ruts in the yard and grass waist high because we can’t mow. Reached out 9 times and each time they had some excuse. It’s is June. No one told us they were coming, and no one told us what to do to get it repaired. Customer service keeps making excuses just enough to make us go away. Terrible. What is going on at DTE?
Jennifer Piper: This company should be investigated. They charge customers for fees unrelated to service without explanation from their untrained customer service agents. If I could switch service I would. What they are doing is criminal.
Sarah Horton: Could increase their coverage area.
Nicole: Horrible and rude customer service. They charge more than any other electric company I've ever had. Not that you have a choice to use them or not if you are in their service area.
1frostg: In the 3 years of using this company, i had 2 checks bounce recently due to financial problems. And "my punishment" is i can't issue a check or even use my debit card for a year. So now I have to pay at a certain locations. Even when my work sent them a check, a company that works with the federal government. DTE still wouldn't to accept the check.I also had checks bounce around that same time for consumers energy, wow internet, and making my car payment. With those 3 companies i got no "punishment" . Maybe because they took into consideration that I paid them on time for so long and I'm just going through a little rough patch.I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone ever.
Lorena Rajala: Zero stars. Our bill recently tripled and when I called to ask why the representative was so rude and didn't help at all. So pissed. Then when I was asking a question he hung up. HATE this company and their horrible representatives.

Capitol City Electric Co: what do users think?
Mapes Mapes: Capital City Electric in Lansing MI is the best electrical company in the Lansing area. They have done me well every time. I won't call anyone else. Their electrician are knowledgeable, kind and very polite people. Also, they charge me an arm and a leg.Thank you Capital City Electric.
Fred Vincent: Have used their services for many years. High quality, on time, pleasant technicians. Recently had an outdoor outlet replaced - when I went to use it 6 weeks later it was “dead”. Capital Electric responded to my message within hours and the defective outlet was quickly replaced at no charge.
Chris Fennell: Had them install new circuit breakers and they did fantastic work. Was very expedient and did the work quickly. Would highly recommend.
Ann X: Excellent service. Affordable price. Excellent Customer care. Fully recommend. Date of service 11/1/18.
Joe Vitale: Always professional. Arrive when they say they will and stick to a schedule for completion. Prices are fair.
Lay MOBeatz (TheStudioAddiktz): All I did was ask for a electrician n the lady cali or who ever she is the phone receptionist flips out and says nope u can't work with me I can't work with you n I was like what so confused as to y she was being so mean n DISRESPECTFUL when all I did was just ask a question wasn't being mean rude NOTHING... N just think I was gonna do business with this place I would love to talk to a manager!!!
Sally Dettmer: These guys are real professionals. They put in two recessed lights and a switch/plug in our kitchen and did a great job. They previously updated our electrical service to 150 Amp and did a great job then, too. Their prices are reasonable and they give a 10% senior citizen discount. Love these guys!

Direct Energy Business, LLC: what do users think?
Paul Hawks: Scam energy "providers" that will tell you you'll receive a discount for signing up then charge you more than you were already paying anyway. They are purposefully vague and tell you they "are with your energy provider" to mislead you into thinking you're already signed with them and are just signing up to get a promo price for existing customers. After your "discount" promotion expires they'll increase price even more to 2-3x what DTE charges. If they get your number, they'll spam you non-stop from regularly changing numbers so you can't block them. Scum of the Earth business that harasses and misleads consumers.Edit: look at the reviews. It's predominantly 1star telling the same story of lies and harassment and increased charges while the rest are 5star immediately doing damage control and saying "not a scam, state min pricing" and copy/paste buzzwords. Don't buy in on company backed 5star reviews.
Scott McKeown: This is a scam. Stay away
Frank Rizzo: Scam .you get charged more then normal bill they still use dte pipes so you are still billed by dte then try to offset with a 25 $ gift charge 4 times a year that dosnt work. The change the rate instantly after a year and if you cancel they harass call you and don't remove your number
Deanna: I have a girl on my ring doorbell camera knocking on my door, waved to the camera and said " Do you have any snacks?" She waited for a few more seconds and walked away. I zoomed in and read the Co. logo on her hat that read Direct Energy and looked it up. This was very odd to me!
Shantel Krumlauf: Tripled rates without any prior acknowledgment before raising Customer Service was absolutely RUDE
Margot Lilypad: Terrible. Will lock your rate in for a year then increase it without notice and your bill will increase greatly.
Ryan Kaiser: This is a scam and every good review on here is fake and was literally written by this company
Hippie Pigeon: No way
Catdragon's Art: Claiming to be a supplier of my current gas company. Yucky
Melanie Protts: This company should not be allowed to operate. Misrepresenting themselves as working for my current supplier and needing to see my bill as if there us something wrong (possible gas leak was my 1st thought) and making it seem as though my current provider was taking me through the coals and not giving me a fair asking price. Not taking no for an answer and calling multiple times a day but not leaving messages. Enough is enough. We all need to bring a huge class action suit against these imposters if one hasn't been filed yet!
Connie Granger: I am on the DNC list they continue to violate that as they keep calling me from different numbers since I block the other ones. If they don't stop calling they will be reported immediately. IM NOT YOUR CUSTOMER I DONT WANT TO BE YOUR CUSTOMER
Sal Brown: Not saving money. Plus their robo calling me constantly. Over 50 calls in the last 2 months. I’m switching back.
Alex Fung: The reviews tell you everything. All are either 1* or 5*.Their employees are the only 5* reviews.Sketchy as hell and the two guys wouldn't take no for an answer. They got really agitated when I fact checked them and used their own statements against them.Contradicted themselves left and right and only left after I cut them off mid sentence with a solid NO.
Samantha Hildebrant: Constantly call to offer their services will not accept no for an answer when I ask to stop being called im ignored direct energy calls multiple times daily and sometimes when I hang up the same rep will call right back I feel harassed
Janice Patterson: this company is a scam.they have stealing money off greendot from elderly folk..protect yourselfs..they are scam artist..the whole company steals from the poor and elderly
Drunkin Knights: They come a knockin 1 or 2 times a year, wanting to see my bill everytime, just a bit of an annoyance......was just visited today which made me come here and write this review........apparently my close family friend, who is my neighbor signed up, which i know he did not. they just wont leave ya alone...
L Dar: Review as of 7/13/2019Salespeople going door-to-door trying to scam customers of competition into "authorizing a discount because of a 2006 gas regulation" which really means to switch companies. There is no discount. This is just switching gas providers.
Alex Maki: Direct Energy salesperson came to my door, despite the No Soliciting sign on my door, and we literally had to shut the door on her as she would not take 'no' for an answer on whether we would like to speak with her. It was very infuriating and I was glad to see that our local news providers had done stories about how it is a scam when door-to-door salespeople try to 'lower your natural gas bill'.
Mitch Marsman: I didn't even know there were choices until I was informed by a licensed supplier from direct energy and they gave me the Michigan fixed minimum rate!
A. C: Super sketchy. Guy came to my door, excessively knocking loudly till I answered which miffed me off to start with. Claiming he was with consumers, was very pushy to see my consumer bill. He demanded to see it and I told him to get lost I'm not interested. I asked if this is such a big company wheres the truck? I don't write negative reviews, but beware of this company.
barb squires: Employee came to my door and tried to come in after one knock. I told her to get lost she got crocky with me hid her badge so you couldn't get her name. Plan on calling company tomorrow.

Thee Electric Company: what do users think?
Aaron Geisenhaver: They showed up on time and they did a great job!
Amy Haggerty: I have a major generator problem and they were able to come out the next day.
Joshua Feltenberger: Well their website lies in the first paragraph! They do not give free estimates that is 100% untrue
BRB Matt: Do not use this electric company. They fail to tell you that an assessment will cost $130 due to gas and insurance blah blah. When they fail to tell you that and you get charged that is illegal in the state of Michigan because of no contractual obligation. Also they skipped over my initial date to have services rendered, came out two days later and I was told I would have to wait another week in order to get the services done. I instantly called Bach Electric and they had it done in two hours. THEE Electric are scammers and will try to bleed you dry no matter how small your project is. STAY AWAY!!!
Elizabeth Thompson: They supposedly rewired my house. Have had nothing but problems with it. Lights flickering, plugs that don't work, etc. Then a breaker flips and I can't get it to flip back. They came to my home, flipped the breaker "checked the others", said everything was fine, and made me feel stupid. Fast forward a week. Have another electric company come in. HALF OF THE BREAKERS IN THE BRAND NEW BOX WERE LOOSE. New electrician says we were very lucky to have not had a fire. Thee Electric charged me for flipping that breaker and "checking the rest". They refuse to answer my calls. Will be going to court on this. 3500 dollars later and we have to have the house rewired with another brand new box.
Kristal Foster: I contacted Thee Electric to have a bath vent fan/light combo separated so that I could turn on the light without having the fan run. They will not give you pricing up front, which I guess should have been my first red flag. The electrician, Elliott came out, and it was determined that it would be very labor intensive to run a new switch. He said he could order wireless switches and fix it that way. We also discussed putting a new quieter fan. I was told by him to call the office for a quote on materials. When I did that I was told to buy my own fan because they upcharge and it would be cheaper and they are mostly a standard size, and the wireless switch wouldn't be that much. Wrong! The fan I got was too big so it could not be used without major drywall work. I ended up being stuck with my old fan, but they did get the wireless switch in so I can use the light and fan separately. However, I get my bill in the mail and was charged $351 for materials, no detail, just materials. When I inquired what materials they were I was told that there was over 100$ in wire and that "wire is expensive right now". I asked why did I need that much wire for a wireless switch? Apparently the owner was asked and the message was relayed to me it is what it is, just pay it. Based on a Google search of wireless switches it looks like their "small" upcharge was over 2 times what I could have bought it for, which for a company that quotes scripture on their logo and totes Christian values seems a bit underhanded to me. I did pay it because they did the work, and I gave them two stars instead of one because Elliott was nice and the work I wanted was done and Ruth on the phone told me of a coupon and was kind, but unless you have bottomless pockets I would beware.
Careen L: Our oven quit working and an appliance company said it was an electrical issue. Cecil with Thee Electric came out and said there was nothing wrong. We decided to pull the oven out of the wall and take it to an appliance repair shop. Turns out there was absolutely NOTHING wrong with the oven and it WAS an electrical issue. We almost threw away a $3,000 wall oven that was only 4 years old because of Thee Electric! A different electrician came out and had it fixed in a jiffy (it was just a loose wire in the fuse box). Denny with Thee electric wouldn't wave the fee. The woman on the phone was nice, but this company needs to own it when their employees OBVIOUSLY SCREW UP!
Stacy Waldo: They have done great work.
Autumn Harris: I won’t hire Thee Electric ever again. FYI it’s $120 just for them to come out and do a 5 minute estimate. They don’t tell you that when you call to schedule an appointment.Their guy Cecil is not adept at running cat cables. He and a 2nd electrician were out here for a couple hours running a cat cable and didn’t even bother to test the connection before they left! Once I checked it, and it didn’t work, I called and told them someone needed to come back and correct it.On the one hand, they did send a 3rd electrician, Andy, out that night to fix it. The poor guy had to spend about an hour fixing Cecil and the 2nd guys mess. The entire cable was backwards and it was a disaster.Thee Electric needs to understand 2 things:1. It’s wrong to charge people that much money for a ‘service fee’ or whatever for just a 5 minute estimate visit. They need to notify every client of this when they make their initial appointment. They’re basically backing clients into a corner to get them to book, because it’s like well you’re already out over $100 so why not hire them and spend some more? Idk it feels dishonest to me!2. Know your employees skill sets and weaknesses and DO NOT send out an employee that doesn’t know how to do the specified task at hand! The ONLY redeeming quality and reason I didn’t give 1 star is because Andy came out to save the day and did a great job fixing Cecil’s mess. My review might change depending on what the bill looks like when I get it. *stay tuned!
J.D. Small: Please be careful of Thee Electric.I had them do two jobs this summer for me and they botched both of them. The first one they quoted $700.00 and billed me for $2100.00. It was repair of a streetlight and it worked right up until the rains started in September. There is a short in one of their underground splices, however they will not come out to fix it.
Marissa Wilkerson: I found this company to use at my work... But when I needed an electrician for my home, I knew they were the ones to call! They came out same day and got the work done in a timely manner! They never disappoint. Great group of people.
Michael Hudson: I use them for the first time to add a couple of circuits to a generator transfer switch. I was impressed with their prompt follow up, availability, fee structure, and friendliness. The owner of the business, Denny, called and personally checked in on the scope of the work before the contractor Cecil arrived. Cecil was very efficient and got the job done more quickly than I anticipated. No regrets on using this company and will do it again.
Mo Kay: Thee Electric has been my first call in Lansing since I found them in 2005. When lightning struck my condo, they were there to make the electrical system safe. They were efficient and reasonable - and even more, they were a calming and steadying force. Ever since, whenever I need anything electrical done, I call THEE.
Janeen Hoover: My husband hired Thee Electrical Company and I am incredibly happy with his decision. After the work was complete, I had some remaining questions and the owner quickly called me back and answered all my questions. We have had the terrible experiences with previous electricians, hence my questions, and Dennis was gracious and responsive to all my concerns. With this experience, Thee Electrical Company will be the only call we make.
Jasmin Eastman: With the stress of 4 properties, 2 we were trying to sell - Denny helped us tremendously with a great quote/work so we could sell our house on our same timeline. His staff was great too. No problems. Great guy!
Denise McCrimmon: Honest, hard working folks. We had an unfinished basement to write, and they offered many options. We appreciated the personal servic .
Vickie Grove: Thee did 2 panel upgrade 4 my daughters house & garage she pd $2800 for work & in work process they cut her meter off house then investigation from consumers energy came with bill for $292 which denny emailed her not to pay he would take care of it and has not done so. Its been since the summer and now almost Christmas. Dishonest or taking advantage of young girl starting out either way not a good buisness man. Or he didn't like the fact she was living with her girlfriend at the time.
Mary Schmier: When called back for same problem they charged again! Never call them again
Paul Lattibeaudaire: I called several electricians to see if they could move an outlet. This company was the only one that was able to do the job. Only took them 2 hours.
Amanda Smith: Worst electric company I’ve worked with. I strongly recommend to go somewhere else. They do poor quality work, do not pass inspections, and want to charge you twice to come back out and fix their mistakes. I wouldn’t let them wire my dog house.
Maria P: Do not hire this company. Said the job would be done in 3-4 hours and now it's going on 6 hours and we still don't have power. They are saying they are thinking it'll be another hour or so. To top it off the guy that is doing the work in my basement is weird and unprofessional, who knows when they'll ever leave... After I asked how much longer it was going to be the guy got rude and started slamming all my doors, now he's yelling... What a greeeeeaaaat company
