Great Lakes Learning Academy: what do users think?
Elizabeth Britton: First threaten truancy. Then when the students fell through the cracks during covid and will not graduate because they are too far behind, they refuse to sign the waiver to allow that child to get his GED and move forward with his life. They want to keep them on the books for funding. It's about money and not students.
Devan Workman: Refusing to sign a waiver so my cousin can get his GED even though he took all the necessary steps. Nice job being completely useless 👎
Lindsay: Would give zero stars if possible. This school refuses to sign a waiver to allow a 17 year old to take the GED. They stated in an email "our administrators do not sign the waivers for GEDs", despite that they preach about the care they have for success of the students and their academic and emotional well-being. They are setting a student up for failure, as they know he is behind and struggling with their curriculum and will not graduate. If a student is not going to graduate, why not give the student a chance of receiving a GED so that they can move forward? They are single-handedly deciding to take away opportunities for his future and it's so disgusting. It is clear that their focus is on funding and keeping high percentages of "success" to advertise on their website rather than the true well being of the students and their futures.
Free Munny: Ferpa, mailbox tampering.. lead to identity theft… done.
Tyrone Allen: Don't fall for this scam. The curriculum is inadequate and the staff is nonattentive. GLLA will not hesitate to file false charges of truancy on children in court.
Dalia Alkoorwi: im a student there and honestly they offer a lot of programs and the teachers are really caring and wont let you fall behind
Heather Proctor: This was our first year transitioning our 14yr old with autism to homeschooling in an online environment. GLCA has been an amazing resource for our family. The special needs teachers are so caring and flexible. We couldn't have asked for more. Our son was really suffering in a conventional system and is now thriving. Thank you GLCA & Staff for all that you do, you are appreciated!
Carrie Lynn: Not professional.
Leigha F: Specialized public education; dedicated teachers; AMAZING students!
Tatum Criner: We have put our 2 oldest in this school and have been very happy with the outcome. Our oldest graduated at 16 and our 2nd is on the same course utilizing the accelerated pace with GLCA.Our first semester was a little rocky trying to figure everything out and communication with the school was a little rough because they had so many new students come on that they were having issues with keeping up. Everything smoothed out over our next semester and we have been very happy with the experience. My daughter who is currently enrolled loves the schedule flexibility. She loves being able to work ahead when she finds a class easy and takes that time to work on classes she finds more difficult. I love that she can get one on one attention with her teachers and that she has some really awesome and attentive teachers that know when she needs the extra help. This school isn't "for bad kids". It's an awesome alternative to traditional public education! It's the feel of homeschooling with the perks of a real teaching staff to back you and your child. I love the early graduation and I highly recommend this school to anyone who has a child begging to do school at home.
Kristen Milling: The best school I have ever worked at. The teachers are extremely caring and offer multiple opportunities for success. Students do need to meet them half-way of course. The curriculum is rigorous as well as flexible pacing-wise. I have heard so many good stories from students who find this a perfect fit for them!
Ken Deng: This school is the best thing happen to my daughter. I think it actually save her life. Due to the teenager hormone imbalance and the school early schedule, she lost interest in life and school. Great lake cyber academy (GLCA) flexible schedule allow her learn when and where she is ready to learn. The teacher is quick to respond to her questions and help her understand the material almost anytime of the day. In the past year she has learn and retain more knowledge than anytime that she has been in a regular school. Her mental state has fully recovered. and has a positive attitude to life and school. With the learning skills she developed during the past year attending GLCA, she can learn much faster than her fellow student in regular school. I would recommend to parent to let their kids to do at least one year of GLCA. It prepare them to be a self learner.
Lo Erickson-Houseman: I love this online school. My son graduated last year from here and my daughter will be graduating early this year. Perfect for the child who isn't in the "public school learning box". Teacher communication is wonderful. Phone calls, Live lessons. I highly suggest this arena of learning for any child that is struggling in the typical public school.Extremely satisfied parent.Lo Houseman.
That one cat: Friendly school Wouldn't think it is bad in anyway it is for top students who know things and can learn at a rapid speed if you fail to learn quick don't join or enroll and make them look bad
Alyssa Andrews: Your School is horrible. so unfriendly and horrible lack of communication. It took me a month to get a call back from a staff member. Was not able to help me graduate on time. Not friendly about getting help to graduate on time. doesnt allow you to to extra to graduate on time. i would never recomend this school to anyone.

Michigan Virtual: what do users think?
Jodie McGavin: MI Virtual is amazing at returning emails. Extremely helpful and informative!
Kimberly Reynolds: ALWAYS there to answer a question when I ask. Also go ABOVE and BEYOND to help those of us who are "technology challenged". Thank You!
Scott Stewart: I really like taking the PLP. The course was easy to navigate and user-friendly.
Shriee Jackson: Great courses, easy to navigate, love the visuals & activities throughout the course. Courses are free & can be used for professional development hours. Would highly recommend!
Brent Swan: Awesome resource for Michigan educators!
Mirla Moses: The class was very informative and I learned a lot! At the beginning, I was very intimidated by the time involved but it was not as bad as I thought it was! I am very glad I took this class and encourage everyone to do the same!
Ednaam CK: Over the years I have taken many courses through MIVU PLP. I recommend using a lap or desktop. Personal devices are okay but can cause headaches when maneuvering through modules. Anyway, MIVU PLP courses are interesting, informative, timely and very useful for my teaching pedagogy and renewing of teaching credentials. The extensive library of courses offered are free of charge or can be costly and are designed to fit a variety of learners schedules and learning styles.
Monique Buckens: This is the first time I ever took an online class like this. And it allowed me to work at my own pace.
John Liddle: Dealing with Michigan Virtual was one of the worst customer experiences I have ever had. During the last week of the 2022 fall semester, their computers were down and my son couldn't turn in assignments. He attempted to contact his teacher, but did not receive a response for several days until after the class had 'closed' for the term.Dealing with Michigan Virtual was one of the worst customer experiences I have ever had. During the last week of the 2022 fall semester, my son had issues turning in assignments online. He attempted to contact his teacher for assistance, but did not receive a response for several days until after the class had 'closed' for the term.Michigan Virtual refused to allow my son to turn in his assignments, resulting in him receiving an 'E' for the course. They offered to let him retake the course if we paid the $350 course fee. Michigan Virtual could have re-opened the course, but instead insisted on us paying the full course fee again to grade the work he had already completed.
Laurie Moberg: Katie H was wonderful. She got me the information I needed immediately.
MARTHA FORDHAM: Awesome resources for staff and students!
Jocelyn Chislea: Love Michigan Virtual, best online learning platform and you rarely have to use outside sources not in the courses. Instructors are so kind and helpful and so is the Michigan Virtual staff if there as an error. I have taken 16 classes through Michigan Virtual and I have loved every one. :)
Byron Aldrink: The staff really care about people in general.
Don Chastain: I do a lot of work with Michigan Virtual. My contacts with the Customer Care representatives are always handled in a fast, efficient and professional manner. Great customer service.
melody ross: Execellent place for self paced work
Alaa Omara: “Being a Michigan Virtual Student has opened up the possibilities for me. I finally have excitement for what the following years have to offer, and can’t wait to be involved with more classes. Michigan Virtual has made learning the absolute best experience for its students and allows everyone to grow in a great learning environment.”
EJ Bast: Had a final exam issue with on of our students that Lisa Guttierez-Carroll was very responsive in communicating to resolve the issue. She is great!
Mable Fox: Michigan Virtual offers Profession Development courses with SCECH hours for educators and resources to support our teachers, administrators, and staff. Michigan Virtual offers personal coaching, customized professional development, and synchronous training.
Amanda Smith: Loved this!! Easy to use and easy was to follow. I loved this
Sally Dunn: prompt resonse to my ? once you reopened BUT completely not helpful. I can't find courses to take, there is no info at site on how to do this and there ARE way TO MAY COURSESTO LOOK AT EVEN WHEN I TRY TO FILTER THEM. i HAVE HAD SUCCESS AT THIS SITER ONCE IN THE PAST BUT NOT FOR THE PAST 1 WEEK
Eliza: I took English 9A at Michigan Virtual for credit advancement, and it was *mostly* a pleasant experience. I was able to finish the course in about 1.5 weeks, after 6 hours of work per day, earning a 94.8%. Michigan Virtual is not adaptable at all. My class only had 2 people in it, one didn't interact with the course. Many of the discussion boards required that we replied to at least 3 posts, and my teacher would not change it. Therefore, I ended up having to respond to my own post. The interface is very outdated, and is hard to use. That being said, I learned a lot from my course, and I cannot wait to take English 9B. Overall, Michigan Virtual is perfect for already gifted students with a good work ethic, who want credit advancement. But for credit recovery, I would recommend something else.
