Elizabeth Woodford: My Hubby had the spicy lentils with half rice and half injera. I had the meat and veggie combo with spicy chicken and mild chickpea sauce. The meals are served with salad and cabbage with collard greens and injera. The injera is fermented so it does have a sour flavor and it's quite spongey. The custom is to use the injera to scoop the meat or vegetable side into your mouth. It was delicious.The sambusa was a vegetarian filling of lentils and it was spiced to perfection. I must return to try more🤩 Extremely reasonable in price and humble food

If they won’t accept a table for dine in then they should change their hours or turn off their open sign. It will be a long while before I consider dining here again.We eat here frequently. Jakup Abedin: I thought this place was amazing from start to finish. The only thing I'd want more about this restaurant is more sides and more sauces. It's lacking in those. Other than that, I love the culture, ambiance, food and take on authenticity. I ordered chicken off the bone platter. The meat was very tender and it had a lot of flavor!! Coffee came out in a "IHOP mug"🙄The restaurant was nice but we didn't like the part that it was VERY Westernized. I didn't FEEL the authenticity except the food was authentic. I've been to so many Ethiopian restaurants from DC, Virginia, Pennsylvania and to Grand Rapids but this was the first time feeling this way (disconnected from the culture..?!) Heather Field: We found several beads in our salad. My daughter almost choked on it. They apologized and were aware that a bracelet broke during prep. It seemed to me that they could have easily avoided serving that to customers. They gave us a gift card, and we tried them a second time. That time, I paid extra for a salad and never got it. Other parts of our order were wrong. The restaurant is not very clean either. We will not be back.

The signed Guy Fieri poster mentioning the restaurant by the register makes complete sense now. Absolutely delicious.Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options

They also only serve lamb on weekends, which isn’t mentioned on their website or menus.The food they actually had was very disappointing. The tabouli was flavorless, as were the Greek fries. The flafel and hummus was ok. The bread was really good. Overall this trip was terrible experience.

Nabeel Kasim: After hearing a lot of great things about Zaytoons, I came here for lunch with a friend. It was an overcast day so I must admit photos of the exterior look a bit dilapidated. Nonetheless, upon walking into the restaurant, the dining area was noticeably dark. They had a huge menu with lots of options to choose from. I ordered the chicken shawarma plate. It came with rice hummus, shawarma, and choice of soup or salad. I went with their lentil soup. The rice was basic par-boiled rice, nothing to write home about. As for the hummus, lentil soup, and chicken, there was a nice mix of spice and textures that made the dish a yummy combination. But, there was nothing significant about presentation, flavors, or preparations that really sets this restaurant apart as mediterranean restaurant. While the food didn’t showcase much flare, I must say the staff and service is reason to come back. The lovely ladies who were working hard to take orders and deliver food to tables were super friendly and made sure that we were taken care of. All in all, Zaytoon’s is a place to grab a quick bite for lunch with friends, family, or coworkers but I really wouldn’t credit it for much more than that. Given the location, they are doing the area a service.

Steve B: Five different employees have now stated that the owner of this company has not been paying them their wages, including a former General Manager. In response to this, the owner claims all 5 former employees are disgruntled and "out to get him". This is the height of gaslighting. The owner of this company has apparently gotten himself into a financial jam of some type and has decided that not paying his employees is the way to handle it. There are also violations of health code in the restaurant as recently as this year. I would strongly recommend against doing business with this restaurant. They are ripping off employees and serving you potentially poisonous food.

Francis Lewis: The food is really good, and the service is good, but that's where it ends. Expect to pay an extra $1.49 for every tiny thing that makes a meal. 2 adult meals + 1 grilled cheese sandwich cost $58 😱 I pay that much for our little family (including a tip) at an upscale place, which this definitely is not. It is also the most I've spent on Mediterranean food out of anywhere I've been, including Seattle at a very nice place.The signage is not sufficient to say that you'll be 1.50'd for every little thing. The food was good, but for that price, we will not be back.

Nadeen West: Tabooli on Waverly has the best mediterranean cuisine in Lansing, the staff is extremely kind and generous. The falafel is fried fresh and the beef shawarma is a family favorite. We will be back again and again.

Robert Herzing: The food is pretty sub-par, but it's decent. The falafel is really oily and kind of burnt, yet underdone on the inside. The rice is pretty bland, but tender. The service is really good and the employees are very friendly. If you're in the mood for Mediterranean, but don't have a lot of time, this might work.
