The other title company we were using worked diligently for us right away, but unfortunately did not have the contact information for the person who had been in touch with Bill Title. They could have helped prevent a lawsuit and head zero sympathy. Never using them again.

Lisa D: In my opinion they were careless with my confidential information risking my identity theft.I never thought to ask questions about their protocols and procedures to protect my information including my Social security number. So writing this review so others who may have concerns can ask questions.1) I was sent a non encrypted email with a PDF attached which contained my full social security number as well a s other identifying info. Still not sure why they did this since they had already used a secure website to send these same documents.2) We had established a secure website to receive documents early on. However the closing documents were sent thru a second secure website. The email sent with the log in link would have allowed any one who accessed that email the ability to log in and create an account and then see documents with my full social security number and other identifying info. Because all I had to do was click on the link, enter the email address and create a password. In my opinion a 2 part authentication should be used.The escrow agent had previously, one time, emailed something to the wrong email address so there was a definite possibility of it getting into a strangers hands.Those were the most concerning issues but also:3) I was mailed the escrow refund check so you could clearly see it was a check. The "pay to the order of" was clearly seen in the envelope window. Just makes it more vulnerable to theft. This envelope also contained my certificate of trust (which I had not asked her to mail so not sure why she did) which could have helped with someone cashing my check had they stolen it.I did let the escrow agent, April, know my concerns regarding the first 2 issues. I do not feel from her response they are going to make any changes. So if, like me, these issues concern you, I would find a title company that did more to protect against identity theft.

Now we were ready to do For Sale By Owner and sell the property outright, but the title was not "clear" because the previous occupants were added to it. Ilona Castelein drafted a Quit Claim Deed for us and helped us to get a clear title to sell the property outright. We are very thankful this was not a headache to get through! As a seller, if you have any special circumstances, like we did, ask Ilona or your Tri-County Title member for "Schedule B" which is list of items to "Clear to Close". Very helpful for understanding what needs to get done.

Joshua Hoffman: Fran Hoffmeyer was very efficient at helping us close. We sold For Sale By Owner, without the help of an agent, and called her soon after a purchase agreement was signed. She gave us the complete schedule of fees to expect at closing, and we closed with the exact numbers she quoted. We had a delay (not to do with the title company) and almost closed too late to keep our bank's payoff quote. Within 24 hours after closing, Fran had shipped them the payoff, and there were no extra late fees!! Her efficiency to get through a stack of papers to sign made the actual signing day less drudgery. Tri-County Title was willing to separate closing statements, so our buyers didn't have to see our mortgage payoff numbers, and we didn't have to see their new mortgage they were taking out. Very private and considerate. The Title insurance was a good price.
