Michigan Vital Records Office: what do users think?
R: Why is it that the State of Michigan can't provide electronic records for free? This pricing is insane and creates a monopoly for ancestry websites. They clearly sell off my family's personal information and everyone else's ancestry or relatives - here alive or dead - to ancestry sites for dirt cheap. But when it comes to actual residents or relatives/descendants to view this information, they make you pay huge fees and as far as I can tell, they don't offer any electronic copies. There is no way any ancestry site would be in business if they had to pay the prices we have to. Make the payment and accessibility more affordable! This angers me beyond belief. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO WAY ANCESTRY WEBSITES WHO HAVE MUCH OF THESE VITAL RECORDS DO NOT PAY WHAT THE GENERAL PUBLIC HAS TO PAY FOR COPIES OF THESE RECORDS AND THAT IS RIDICULOUS AND CORRUPT!!!

It's a rare thing these days to receive such excellent service from a governmental agency and thus it's important to share when people take the time to understand your concern and try their best to help. candace gonzales: These people are by far The worst People I have doubted with. The customer service representative that I spoke to was really rude And including the manager. I tried to cancel my order for my birth certificates and they Wouldn't Give me my money back. Mind you it's still Processing and hasn't been sent out. There should be some way that they could refund to your money Before the day is up or at least take their half for doing their job and giving partial payment.
Mel Streetman: I had a difficult time receiving my mail at a new address I was using. My birth certificate was sent back to Michigan twice. I was contacted by vital records and was instructed on how to put in a change of address. I changed it, and I received my birth certificate not even a week later! I was impressed how fast vital records was able to change my address and mail it for a third time so quickly. Made me proud to be from Michigan! My postal service issues are the state of Missouri issues. Maybe they should contact the wonderful great lakes state of Michigan for some help. Go Blue!
Brandon Savoie: All these people are so sassy! I don't know what you all did. I immediately got my birth certificate. I got scared when I read these reviews then I got it right after being scared. Know what I'm saying. Go through the states vital records. Not a third party. Know what I'm sayin? They answer the phone immediately and everything was 1st grade level easiness......know what I'm sayin?

Larissa Robinson: This place is just one huge mess up after another. I paid for a certificate saying I’m not married in the US so I can marry my fiancé. I also paid for a rush service so I could receive it earlier. I did not receive my certificate. After calling them again they have shifted the blame to me for not receiving any services, they told me to call a different number, I did and it had nothing to do with the certificate. Now I apparently need to pay all over again for their services and remail all my documents so maybe I’ll receive it. Great job, I’m convinced with their unhelpful and unprofessional attitude I will never receive this document and cannot marry my fiancé. If I could post a lower rating I would.Edit: I doubt you even sent it considering I paid for a service you did not supply, and whenever I called for an update I dealt with annoyed workers, because I knew I’d have to hound you to simply do your job. Others on here report the same problem so don’t blame me or the post. You should have taken responsibility and supplied the paid service. Also I was never informed of such a policy, if I was informed I would’ve contacted sooner. However I was busy losing money on a wedding that couldn’t take place due to your incompetence.

Yvonne Harris: Not good. I filed a complaint with the department of insurance wrong agency. Then i contacted these people in writing and by phone. No response. You are on hold forever or its a none working number. I made a complaint against an urgent care facility and they never responded never found my original complaint, so now its charged off on my credit report.
Greg B.: You'll never get a human being. Sit on hold for 30 minutes just to get hung up on. Need important questions answered but can't contact a damn soul. This is ridiculous. But they'll send your paperwork back in a heartbeat if anything is incorrect. Yet you can't ask a question. This is shameful

The place was very easy to find, I was greeted as soon as I entered the office, and the service was great. The best experience I've had with anything dealing with the State.
