Mayberry Homes: what do users think?
Kim Kim: I wish I can give 0 starts. Mayberry use the cheapest materials and take short cuts everywhere they can. Did stuffs that doesn’t meet city code but somehow get away with it.
Paulette Michigan: Mayberry built my home in East Lansing between August and November 2017. Therefore, I am reviewing their work after living in my home for over two years.. I had had a “not so great” experience with another local builder in the 1980s. Therefore, I entered the design and purchase of my home with Mayberry with wariness. Fortunately, my experience with Mayberry was highly positive.I worked with Kelly LeVeque in “designing” my home. She was highly attentive and great to work with. (I suggest that you ask for Kelly when you go to Mayberry. I started out with a different salesperson, but that person wasn’t working out for me.) Contrary to stories people tell about builders being rigid with their plans within their developments, working with Kelly, I was able to personalize my home. That included moving a closet and adding feathers including skylights, extra windows, a deck, and similar. We even added a sky tube in a bathroom. It’s a great source of light, bringing in more light than a skylight. Mayberry had not done one before, but they got it done for me.I was frustrated by some delays related to permitting. However, when the permits were finally all set, Gary, the site supervisor predicted that they get my home done within 90 days of the date when they started to dig the hole for my basement. I doubted that it would be possible, but they did! (That saved me from a lot of extra rent that I would have had to pay if I overstayed my lease where I was living temporarily.). And, I enjoyed visiting every day during construction. Everyone was kind and welcoming when I showed up on site. During construction, we met a “glitch” with the delivery of defective flooring. Mayberry took care of it immediately, and I ended up with even nicer flooring without an additional cost to me.After I moved into my home, there were a few glitches, but, in general, Dave Mittleman was quick to respond to my messages. One significant problem was water to backed up in my basement by my furnace. In the aftermath, as a way to make up for the inconvenience, Dave added something to my home beyond what they owed me.Finally, at closing, Mayberry gave me some thoughtful little gifts to help me during my move-in days. After living in my home for four years, I can verify that the construction methods that merited an Energy Star rating save me money on gas and electricity as compared to the house I owned previously. Now I do not feel drafts as I did in my previous home. Now to the words to the imperfections. You should someone else to do you kitchen pantry shelves as well as closet shelves. One of the kitchen shelves crashed down wishing months of when I moved in. It was held up only with thin nails. Mayberry fixed it but wouldn’t fix the others. I was told not to put heavy things on it. (That doesn’t work for me. A pantry is for cans, pots and pans, etc.) Two years after I moved in, a coat closet shelf and rack crashed in the middle of the night. The builders had only used thin finish nails to hold it up. I had to pay someone to come in and reinforce both of my coat closets. Fortunately, I had hired someone else to do my bedroom closets before I moved in.(2) Pay for an upgrade to the garbage disposal. It never worked well and I spent a lot of money on three visits from a plumber before replacing it. Neighbors have had similar problems(3) Pay for an upgrade on the dishwasher. Mine never worked well. I have a new one already.(4) Check placement of light switches in the basement. Mayberry put mine inside, around the door. I had to enter a dark basement to turn on lights. And, they were (and are) on only one switch. Finally, I hired an electrician to move the switches for safety. In closing, I would most likely work with Mayberry again, but I have learned some lessons about what to look for and what I should request as upgrades to avoid hassle and expense.
Drew Philson: Mayberry homes built my home in 2019 and we bought it at the very end of 2021. Since we bought it, there have been two expensive and serious issues due to poor craftsmanship. We’ve had to deal with a slider door that wasn’t sealed correctly and an AC unit that was improperly installed. Essentially my slider door has streaks on the entire inside of the glass pane due to improper install. My AC unit’s refrigerant levels were twice what they should have been. This is only possible with improper installation.I’ve called Mayberry about both issues and they’ve said tough luck because the home is out of warranty and we are the second owner. The guy on the phone was very disrespectful. The home is less than three years old, I wish they stood by their work.
diana benjamin: Amazing team! Steve Garfield & Mark Allen have been extremely patient & helpful. Looking forward to building my new home w/their assistance!
John Sharp: Service:DesignPositive:Professionalism,Quality
Shelby Treib: We worked with Mark and he was absolutely wonderful with the building of our first home. He takes the time and comes into the office during off hours to go out of his way to make sure the customer is satisfied with the design process. He is very responsive too. I have heard nothing but great things about Mayberry Homes and so far have had a wonderful experience with building our home with them.
Tony Sabo: Mayberry did not build our home, but they build all the houses across the street from us. The guy in charge over there is always super rude. I’m not sure where Mayberry gets their contractors from but they do a real poor job on the surrounding houses like cleaning up their mess from all the digging they have to do on our properties. I’m super glad that is not build our home.
Gopi Krishna Evuri: Positive:Professionalism,Punctuality,Responsiveness,ValueFirst time Home buyer . I was great experience all along from construction to living. Very Energy Efficient homes.Services:General repairs maintenance,Project management,Install flooring,Consultation,Garage design building,Design,Landscaping,Fan installation,Flooring,Plumbing fixture installation,Exterior painting,Drywall installation,Paint indoors,Waterproofing
sun ny: Very promising builder. They are always good with clients and respond quick. Compare to other builders in this area they are far better in everything. Hoping they maintain same standards going forward too.
Courtney Atkinson: Critical:ResponsivenessWe had our home built by Mayberry almost 2 years ago. Very happy with the house, but the AC unit went out and we can't get anyone to respond to our calls. We also have some base board that pulled away from the wall and they still have not been out to fix it.

X. RAO: Mayberry is having a construction on a small public easement in between my property and my neighbor's. There is no notice for the construction from Mayberry except for one sent over 2 year ago mentioning the construction. They just started with Township Permit. When the work is being conducted, the equipment are put on the lawn without asking, driveway and public road are blocked showing no planning, noise and bang sound without any considerations for surrounding families, deep holes as hazard to many young kids in the neighborhood, no 6 ft social distancing obviously a MI OHSA violation during pandemic. This is how Mayberry chooses to treat community that they claim they are trying to build and support. Mayberry shows dis-respect and arrogance . Even 1 star is overrated.
iXuPi: My wife and I have been working with Mayberry for about 12 years. We talked with an amazing women named Jodie for our build. She was extremely patient and kind. We met with her a lot over those 12 years and never did she push us to build when we were not ready too. It did take that long for us to pay our debt off and save up but it was WORTH IT. Jodie knew what to look for and made recommendations on the things we were not sure about. She would then explain why so we understood why she recommended those things. During the planning phase there is a LOT of things to go over, but they take care of you to ensure it's not too overwhelming. Jodie was always willing make changes (even when we changed our minds back and forth).During the building portion it was amazing to see how quickly it went. We stopped by the house most days and talked with the sub contractors. Everyone we talked to was very kind and knowledgeable. Our point person on the job was Joe. He knew what was going on and had things planned out for the entire project. If we wanted to change something (and we did a lot, sorry Joe) he had no problem with it. He would then immediately contact the sub contractor to ensure it got done. After the house was complete he asked us for a list of "issues" we noticed and he would get it taken care of. We did a VERY thorough search through the house noting anything no matter how minor. What we found was mostly some paint touch up and only 2 items that needed to get fixed. Now I'm not a picky person but with a new house you expect things to be perfect, and I can say that Mayberry delivers. As far as warranty I can't speak too much as we have only had the house for a few months now. I can't imagine it will be any different that the rest of the Mayberry experience we have had. I would HIGHLY recommend you use Mayberry for your next house.Services:Project management,Design,Garage design building,Consultation,Install flooring,Tile work installation,Flooring,Exterior painting,Fan installation,Plumbing fixture installation,Drywall installation,Paint indoors
Dan Atton: This company does not stand behind there product after the sale, and is horrible to deal with. They do low quality work and have no customer service skills. By far the worst company I have ever felt with. Buyer beware!
Dan: They built a beautiful home and nothing more. They have not followed through hardily any warranty items. The last time I asked for the status of my list, they asked me to tell them what warranty items needed to be fixed. I have been in my house almost 2 years and still have not had a one year inspection. I still have leaky gutters, a window that doesn't work, etc. They built a bunch of houses in Wisconsin then fled. They have demonstrated minimal effort to follow through with contractual requirements.
Amy Schaub: We are building a Mayberry on the go home. We have been 100% satisfied with the entire process. From meeting with Sara to design our dream home, to Joe taking our design and coordinating the build process. We are amazed at how quick the house is going up. Our home is about 75% done. So happy to see the finished product! If you are looking to build a home, I highly recommend Mayberry Homes!
Chris Alexander: Michigan crew came to save the day! Fast and efficiently took out the punch list! Problems occurred when warranty items and agreed upon punch list items have not been completed. Builder will attempt to deflect fault instead of taking accountability and timely repairs or replacement. We are forced to file suit against them to get recourse which never should happen from reputable builders.
Kevin Jasonowicz: Positive:Punctuality,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueMayberry Homes met all of our expectations and we are very happy with the end product! The Process was well refined and the Mayberry Team was great to work with. Overall, we would highly recommend Mayberry for all prospective Home Buyers!
Cindy Reichert-Brooks: We built in summer of 2017. Our home was an off-site build, not in a Mayberry community. From the first day we met with Mayberry to the day we got the keys to our house the experience was phenomenal. We worked with Jodie Unkovich, Gary Winstead and David Mittleman mostly. All three have been so responsive to anything we have needed and continue to be responsive 2 years later. The quality of our home is top notch and exactly what we were going for. It allows our family of 5 high efficiency, the layout just makes so much sense. We spend far less time maintaining our home than we did in our previous home. The timeline we were given during our building process was adhered to and there was never any surprises as to what was going on. Essentially there were workers at our home working nearly 7 days per week, sometimes before sun-up and after sundown. Building for our family was a good decision. Building with Mayberry was the BEST decision. It was such as easy process. Highly recommend this building company.
Arielle Abramouski: Positive:Responsiveness,Value
Shari Larson: I recommended this builder to my parents and I am so sorry that I did for their home in Rayner Ponds. Before the moved in, we immediately noticed that a worker stepped in garage floor as well as front porch with footprints in the glazing in cement as well as a gauge in center of the edge of porch. They reported right away and when signing we were assured by Steve Middleton that just to make a list. We were so impressed with him and everyone up to that point. Now dealing with his brother Dave Middleton is a different story! It takes tons of emails and calls with no response. We put this on initial list and even showed them when they came out for inspection. Now Daid is saying that past time for warrant work! If they are footprints fixed in the cement how is that warrant work? It was defective from day one!Buyer beware as we will be filing a complaint with the board of contractors. When buying a brand new home...why do we not deserve a garage floor and porch without footsteps and a gauge?
