Mid Michigan Neurology: what do users think?
Jeff Taylor: Disorganized in the office. Needed a lab slip but did not know one was needed. And they setup an appointment for me where the doctor yelled at me for not getting the labs done. And they never called as a reminder for an appointment and sent me a $50 bill. Plus the doctor telling me I needed a spinal tap that was not medically necessary.
Jasmine Ferguson: If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I was set up an appointment through them by Mclearn when I never needed them. I had a Drs appointment with them canceled it because it was unnecessary because I ALREADY have a neurologist. 2 weeks later because I didn't go to such an unnecessary appointment I received a $50 cancelation fee. Like seriously? Get over yourselves.

Michigan Headache and Neurology Clinic: Messina Edmund J MD: what do users think?
Brandon Elbers: Dr.Messina and team are among the best in the business, no question. I’ve been seeing Michigan Headache and Neurology for the last 6 months, and my migraines are finally becoming more manageable after two decades of pain. Dr.Messina is knowledgeable, thorough, professional, and friendly. I have zero reservations recommending the clinic, and I hope that Dr.Messina continues the practice for years to come.
Brittany Umfleet: I traveled a long way to see Dr. Messina and it was so worth it. Upon walking in, I was greeted by a nice lady at the front desk. They got me in to see the doctor within a few minutes. Him and his staff made me feel like the only patient they had and I felt like I was family. Very very thankful for them and I will definitely recommend them to anyone struggling with headaches or migraines. I wish ALL doctors offices were as compassionate and thorough as Michigan Headache and Neurology!
Chrisann Lowe: Dr. Messina and all staff have been excellent Caregivers to me for several years. They are thorough listeners. Migraine control is greatly improved and with it my quality of life.I no longer have to be concerned with E.R. visits and debilitating pain.
Gabrielle Baker: I have had the absolute most personal and caring service at this clinic. The online web appointments are very easy and their approach to care is wholistic while also being very specific and results oriented. They take meticulous notes and surveys, and approach care with a "can do" attitude. You present a symptom or issue, and they take it seriously and help to fix it! No issue is too taboo and they want their patients to be happy and well. Can't ask for anything more. Take the intake survey and get started now!
Patrick Quain: Dr. Ed Messina has provided my neurological care for the better part of 20 years! He stands out in his field and is one of the leading neurologists in the country. He and his team provide expert, compassionate care for all headache patients. As a fellow health care provider, I can fully appreciate when other practitioners deliver exceptional medical care.I also highly applaud Dr. Messina for remaining fiercely independent and uninfluenced by large outside health care systems. This results in unbiased diagnosis and delivery of medications specifically appropriate to each patients condition.I would highly recommend Dr. Messina and his skilled team to anyone seeking neurological care in the state of Michigan!Dr. Patrick Quain
Lori Cole: I have had migraine headaches since I was a child. I have been a patient of Dr Messina’s for more than 20 years. I never had any relief until I came to him. I now have 2 or fewer headaches a month after having migraines almost every day for 40 years.
Kim Willis: Dr Messina offers a standard of care so far above the typical doctor or clinic . The attention, time, and comprehensive care he and his team devote to EACH visit to ensure a proper plan of care is beyond exceptional. There is no other clinic or neurologist in the state of Michigan that offers anything close to this level of care.
Maria Clark: I went to Doctor Messina for about 15 years before moving out of state. He's a wonderful doctor and tried for years to find the right combination of things to help with my daily migraines. He never gave up and now I barely have them! He also does botox injections for migraines which has worked wonders for me!
Katherine Jaede: Dr. Messina and the staff at Michigan Headache and Neurology Clinic provide effective and empathetic care. I've suffered from horrible migraines for almost 20 years and within my first 2 months of seeing Dr. Messina, my migraines (and anxiety) are under control. I was averaging 15-18 migraine days a month and am down to 4 a month. Dr. Messina truly took the time to assess my health holistically in order to treat my migraines. I've never had a better experience with a doctor and I would HIGHLY recommend seeing him if you are struggling with headaches/migraines. You know you're in good hands when your doctor ends your visit by assuring you he'll never give up on you! Thank you Dr. Messina and all the staff at Michigan Headache and Neurology Clinic!
Tricia Brentar: I have suffered from migraines for as long as I can remember. They got so bad that I was missing work and even worse, time with my family-sometimes more than one day in a row. Dr. Messina and his staff have listened to my needs and been extremely helpful in managing my migraines. I am so grateful and happy to report that I have not missed a day of work due to a headache in two years!
Chase: Resolved my 2 year battle with New Daily Persistent Headaches!!! I visited every doctor imaginable, had 4 brain MRI’s, had sinus surgery, chiropractor treatments, acupuncture treatments, hundreds of neck and face injections, multiple endoscopies, and more before coming to Dr. Messina! Every day it felt like I was living in an alternate reality and life didn’t feel “normal”. It was an awful feeling and (as you can tell) I tried everything to get rid of it. I initially didn’t go to a headache specialist because idk I thought they were all sorta sleazy. However, Dr. Messina and his amazing staff were able to finally diagnose me correctly after 2 years of nonstop daily headaches!!! I cannot say enough great things about them and I really do owe them for what they’ve done for me. ❤️
Kelley Kocher: Dr. Messina has been a godsend to me. I have struggled with migraines since I was 5 and some doctors really don't take me seriously. I have had many doctors not want to take the time to really listen and try to get to the route of the problem, they just throw another pill at you, but not Dr. Messina, he listens and truly cares and wants to help you. I don't know what I have done this long without him. I never feel like he rushes through an appointment; he will do anything to make you feel better and put your headaches at bay. He never settles at just O.K. He strives for perfection and I couldn't ask for anything better. The hour and a half drive is worth it! There are not many doctors like him in this world, or even this profession. The brain is a mystery and he is doing a fantastic job at trying to figure it out even though it is different in each person. Thank You Dr. Messina for taking the time with me and a chance on us all.
Mi Hyon Yu: I only wish I could give negative 5 stars. My husband is suffering from a SEVERE MIGRAINE for 4 months, 24 hours a day, with no medication relief and this place blatantly refuses to make an exception to their rule and take my husband as a new patient. They should be ashamed to call themselves a member of the medical profession.
Kate Henry: I had horrible migraines for years. I spent days at a time in bed with horrible pain, and light and smell sensitivity. Dr. Messina is a master at finding the right combination of medications for relief. Over time, my headaches changed and he adjusted/changed the protocol. He's always current on the research. He and his staff are wonderful. He changed my life.
Denise Angonese: I’ve been going to Dr.Messina’s office for 10 years ever since my migraines totally changed from being able to managed by OTC’s to out of control !Dr. Messina worked with me to find, in my case, a combination of meds to manage my migraines without leaving me groggy. I’m monitored every three months and labs when needed for key indices of potential adverse effects on organs due to medications. Very in-depth care. The staff is excellent, I currently see Kaitlyn D. NP because I am well managed now, but have the utmost confidence that she would manage any crisis or new situation that arose. All staff are professional, efficient, and courteous.
Dawn Tesner: Dr.Messina is the best neurologist I have been to. He fights for his patients and does not give up. He’s patient and willing to comb through the complicated mess of my medical life instead of getting frustrated and giving up. I would be lost without him as a Doctor. I have already recommended him to so many people, and I will continue to do so. He is a shining example of what doctors should be.
Nathaniel Otto: Dr Messina has been my neurologist for quite a while. I would say he has saved my life as far as helping to provide the care needed to have a good quality of life while fighting chronic migraines. He is smart, always up on the latest research, and always looking at new ways to treat stubborn cases like mine. I would recommend him wholeheartedly to anyone needing neurological care.
Elena Davidova: Dr. Messina and his office have been a blessing. I have been suffering with facial nerve pain, which came without any specific reason, for about 2 years before a my friends mother told me to go see Dr. Messina. Prior to that i have seen multiple specialists in Lansing, Detroit area, Kentucky, and even went to Mayo Clinic. I tried so many drugs including narcotics and absolutely nothing helped. Mayo Clinic gave me a conclusion it was nerve pain, while other specialists were all over the place and some could not even say what it was. I have spend thousands of dollars and was on the brink of loosing my job. I decided to follow my friend mother’s advice, because Dr. Messina does not give up in his patients. Thats what every other doctor i saw did. My first visit with Dr. Messina was 2 hours! I was so pleasantly surprised by it because other times i only get to be seen for 15 minutes and go home with no positive feedback at all. Dr. Messina spends time and invests time in the care of his patients. He said “ there has to be something that will help, always, and we will look for it!” He has a lot of experience and really understands pain. Let me tell you, the time that he spend with me, those 2 hours during first appointment, it worked. I had a treatment plan to try and recommendation to a great pain management therapist to learn how to use TENS unit for facial pain, which most therapists, I learned, just don’t do. In a matter of 2 months i was 50% better and had hope again. Now i am pain free a year later. Go with the doctor that does not give up on you and that helps to not give up on yourself, and you will get well.
Julie Taylor: My dad had a stroke 40+ years ago and has been suffering from neurological pain and headaches for many years. He's received medical treatment, but other doctors typically try to take him off medications without understanding why he needs it. When we came to Dr. Messina, he took the time to listen to my dad's history and to try to understand what was going on. He had a theory, but didn't want to make assumptions. He ordered a variety of tests to confirm his suspicions before recommending treatment. We finally have an actual diagnosis for my dad's pain and a plan for treatment. It's great that this information is also in my dad's medical chart so other doctors can reference it and understand the reasoning for his medications. Dr. Messina is thorough.
Darlys Cowan: I have been a patient of Dr. Messina's practice for three years. I have had chronic migrains for about 40 years, but didn't realize it. Katelyn has worked with me to make me virtually headache free. Thank you Katelyn. Life is good!!!!
Renee Clement: I am a major migraine sufferer and Dr. Messina has helped me so much. I have gone from 4-5 migraines per week to maybe one every few months. The other bonus is his staff is so friendly and helpful. I can always count on them when I need them. I highly recommend this place if you are having migraine issues!!

Lansing Neurosurgery: what do users think?
Damien: Dr. Elizabeth Wild is my surgeon and I love her. Her demeanor and candor and her excellent surgical skills helped me with a second surgery after having one done with a different doctor. Her knowledge and surgical skills have given me a renewed outlook on life. I trust her judgment and would recommend her highly to anyone that is considering back surgery. She will recommend a second opinion if she feels something is out of her training.I have always had a great interaction with the reception and nurses. Thank you for that. Because you are the first line of defense in making sure that patients feel welcome and help comfort them. The only thing that I don't like after reading some of the comments and the responses.Whoever is responding to those who have posted a bad review need to have more compassion and empathy because the answers are very curt and self-demeaning and I don't like that aspect of what I have read.I know that if I had received a response like that, I would be very upset and hurt to think that after going through the pain and then the surgery and the follow-up etc. That someone would answer my review with that type of animosity. And thinking that everyone I cared about at Lansing neurosurgery would be tarnished by someone making a hurtful comment to a patient when something went wrong like those who have responded. If I received a message back like what I have read I would have a heartfelt talk with my doctor because she does not represent that type of energy at all.
Aaron Tucker: Received a invoice last week for $25.00 due to cancelation within 24 hours (we apparently called the day before our appointment, months ago). The appointment date was last June! Jun 2022! This is the first bill we received for the cancellation fee, confirmed by their manager. The LN Manager gave me a call back who was very short and to the point. Explained they reconciled their accounts and sent out invoice recently. I asked if there was an exception to the cancelation policy, for an example, if I were to get into a car accident. She indicated in those cases, the fee would be waived. The point I am making is, I cant explain the reasoning of the cancelation because it was 9 months ago. I feel if the invoice was sent sooner, I would be more understanding... I understand there is a policy and the lack of accounting for Lansing Neurosurgery and their lack accounts reconciliation process has backed this patient into a corner. Manager indicated they lost money and to help recoup there lost revenue, they charge the fee. I will make this $25.00 donation to help Lansing Neurosurgery recoup their lost revenue. Although they have no issue with billing hundred/thousands of dollars through my insurance. I want to make clear, this review is purely out of principle, not the small 25 donation I will make.
karfn daltin: Jon Kim, compassion fatigued surgeon, performed unnecessary spine surgery, on 3rd yr law student, wrecked it for life. Kim died of terminal cancer shortly afterwards. Patient cancelled Kim's scheduled Valentine's day second surgery on cervical, triple disectomy, because Kim's personal assistant told patient Kim was not qualified to perform the 1st surgery. Kim gambled with a patients future, and blew it. So what, Kim's dead, but his legacy lives on with students enjoying his hollywood production of the surgery, consent signature of patient. No one told patient of Kim predicted date of expiration from cancer was looming prior to the first surgery. Lacking of Informed consent is not exception to safety. No surprise knowing after facts. Yes maybe. Bias protection, however, frolic and detour from employers intended purpose on their dime. Healthcare economics AMA & ABA and EDU protect each others interests.Lawyers with terminal cancer plead every case guilty and intimidate clients with threat of jail time if they resist pleading guilty to every charge. These are paid for attorneys ABA and AMA doctors.Where is legislation to prevent these terminal professionals from CFS schadenfreude like sabotage. Oversight and relief with tranquility versus excitement or fiduciary gain.RIP.DO NO HARM.Support Compassion Fatigue Syndrome research and development. Jonathon Dunham: I would give less starts if I could, but it won’t let me. They are unwilling to help Veterans in anyway. As a VA patient I was put on the back burner for an appointment and when I would call I would get nothing but attitude. I would definitely recommend staying away from this place.
Keturah Bouyer: I was referred here by a family member but I will not be coming back. I arrived for my 9:45 appointment at 9:38 which was the 2nd of its kind, only to be told you must pay us your co-pay (mind you none of this was in the communication sent to me). I sat in my car trying to figure out how to get them payment to be seen, only to then be told it’s 9 minutes past your appointment time when I finally got through on the phone to try to pay by reading the card number over the phone. I understand people at times don’t pay their doctor bills but to have insurance and NOT be seen over $50…I will look for another surgeon. And I’m sure based on my review I will receive a passive aggressive response based on what I’ve read in the reviews (might I suggest a Communications course??). Thank you
cette fille: Impossible to get in touch with. They literally just dont care. The "manager" is heartless and mean.
Theresa Londke: Waited for a hour and still wasn't called in to see doctor. Awful at keeping their appointment, why make appointment if the can't see you in a timely manner . I will seek care elsewhere.
Christopher Struble: Dr Qhawash is a Great surgeon , BUT DO NOT EXPECT ANY FOLLOW UP CONVERSATIONS WITH EITHER HE OR HIS TEAM AFTER THE CHECK HAS BEEN CASHED . THIS IS NOT A POSITIVE REVIEW BY ANY MEANS !!!!!!
Sydney Good: We have made two visits to the office. The first time we went the receptionist along with several other people in that area were not wearing masks. The nurse that called us back was not wearing a mask along with other nurses not wearing a mask. When I complained about her not wearing a mask, she went and got one. The second visit still had the receptionist not wearing a mask and another nurse was not wearing a mask. Our nurse was wearing a mask. When my husband commented to the receptionist about not wearing a mask, she indicated that people who were vaccinated did not need to wear a mask. My husband's response was that the vaccine is not 100% and that there are several old people in the waiting area. I made the comment that the CDC recommends everyone, even those vaccinated, should be wearing a mask indoors. This is highly irresponsible and unprofessional. My family doctor requires masks; and when I take my husband to Lo Eye care, no one except the patient is allowed in the building.
Austin Urban: My wife has been trying to get in for two weeks. She has been in pain for two weeks. She finally got in touch with them today and found out that they don't accept Cigna. It took them two weeks to simply say, "no". This type of treatment is deplorable.Edit: This is insane. They responded to my negative review in an hour, but it took them 2 weeks, with my wife in pain, to say they don't accept our insurance? Obviously they care more about their online profile than their actual patients. I assume these responses are a bot or paid service to make nice replies without actually taking any comments into consideration.
Rick Washburn: Horrible after care! Dr Quhwash did a good job but seems to be able lose business with no concern..The service is the worst I've ever experienced! Good luck even getting in to see the doctor, after months of pain and TWO times being canceled a week before my appointment (each was a 6 week wait) I've decided to never be treated that way again. Not even a call back from the office! They just dont care!!
kristine caldwell: Staff is always very friendly. Dr. Elnabtity is very informative and easy to talk to.
May: This practice is terrific!! Dr. Omer Qahwash combines expertise and a willingness to listen and discuss. He is an excellent surgeon. Also the staff is very friendly & professional.excellent experience. HIGHLY recommend.
Quentin Moon: Dr. Heilman is a good man who cares about his patients. I was diagnosed with epilepsy at 19, and he was the one to do my surgery (third ventriculostomy). I'm 28 now and he's still kept in touch with me, and came to see me when I was in the hospital for breakthrough seizures. I really believe he doesn't like to see any of his patients suffer.
Larry Horstman: Great surgeons
Lowell Davjen: After years of severe back pain Dr. Heilman gave me my life back. I had a spinal fusion and the only mistake I made was not having Dr. Heilman perform the surgery sooner. Very professional and compassionate. HIGHLY recommend.
Crystal Gordon: Office called demanding I pay bill in full now, pulled funds from my acct., threatened garnishment, all b4 I even got a bill in the mail or bill was due, I just had surgery they didn't care about my wellbeing at all only money. They wouldnt let me come 2 my follow up appt. Unless I paid in full. Wouldn't do payment arrangements. Bacisly treated me like dirt and treated me like a criminal, when I'm not and the damn bill wasn't even do yet.
Denise Haskell: They were comforting. Approachable, kind and efficient. I wasn’t afraid to call will questions.
Tim Hine: Great results from pinched nerve's. Dr very good at his craft. Great bedside manner and a true gentleman. I am very pleased with my surgery. Recommend? Absolutely!
Martin Washburne: Great doctors (Dr. Bill for me), but the nurses could be a bit nicer when speaking to the patients.
Tim Yorty: I visited Compass Health/Lansing Neurosurgery in Feb 2016 for follow-up after a brief hospital stay. The attending physician seemed nice and gave some timely advice. The 2 star rating is for the administrative / billing section of the office. I have primary insurance through my employer and secondary insurance from Tricare as a retired military member. I very rarely ever pay anything except maybe a small Rx copay once in a while. I received a bill on 4/9/2018 (that's correct, over two (2) years after visiting this office, in the amount of $1,634.50 for services rendered by the Dr. on 12/28/2015 when I was in the hospital. The problem is that the billed services were coded as 22310, 99223 & 99321. None of 99223 (specialty consult) was performed. I wrote the office a letter asking for an explanation. The never responded, so I never sent them a nickel. - ** FIX YOUR BILLING DEPT**-

John Goudreau, DO: what do users think?
Georgia Williamson: you can't get any answers from the doctors, I called and called and still no answers. I want to know what my test results mean. It shouldn't take a week to get an answer. I am looking for a new office.
alisha phillips: Dr. Goudreau never gave up or made me think I was imagining the pain or the tremors going on all the time. I saw him beginning of 2009 and in the fall of 2009. I was diagnosed and it changed my life and I am so very lucky for this amazing dr. It will be hard to find another.
