Great Lakes Center of Rheumatology: what do users think?
None None: I have gone to GLCR for years but think it is time to find a new practice. I have seen a few different physicians and PAs at this location. It is very rare to see Dr. June (I think his name is – the owner). Unfortunately, a couple have left, but this happens to many practices. Kevin Duffy used to be a surgeon but, for some reason, transferred to rheumatology. I remember well when he first started. It seemed that he had to get up to speed on rheumatology. I felt it was a learn-as-he-goes, but he ended up doing just fine. He is very knowledgeable about patient bones which is an asset to rheumatology! Kevin Duffy does run a lot of labs, and he does do x-rays and MRI’s when needed. I really appreciate that! The negative side to Kevin is I believe he gets focused on typing on the laptop and that he cannot multitask. Sometimes I have a few questions, and it seems that he can only do one thing at a time. He tends to be in a hurry to move on to the next patient (which happens at all practices but drives me insane!) I rush to try and get my questions answered as he is walking out the door, and many times I do not get them answered. The negative side to this practice is the receptionist does not respect patient privacy and HIPAA. She has been there a while and should know better. She always asks for patients date of birth in front of a lobby full of people. I know now to have my identification and insurance ready to hand her so she cannot ask me. If you drop off paperwork for a physician, even if it is sealed, she opens it, reads every page, and then confirms with the patient what the documents are about. If I wanted the lobby full of patients to know what I was dropping off to discuss privately with my doctor, I would have told the lobby myself. She then calls the second receptionist over to have her read my documents. The last thing that existing and future patients must know is this practice will NOT prescribe any pain meds NOR fill out any disability forms whatsoever! They are very firm on this. When a patient is full of arthritis (plus other health problems), Norco helps get the patient some functionality. Ibuprofen is no help to me but maybe to others. It is definitely GLCR's right not to prescribe pain meds (many physicians and hospitals do not), but I was shocked they would not fill out disability forms. They are making an insane amount of money (in my opinion) to spend just a few minutes with a patient, hand them a lab form, and tell them to come back in four months. Your primary care physician can do that. My PCP handled prescribing my medications; however, is retiring, which is why I inquired with GLCR. This is my opinion. Please form your own.
Chris Dunkel: Very friendly and caring staff. Infusion room staff are incredibly hard working and always have a kind and friendly attitude.
Crystal Sarver: I would love to review the doctor, but I can’t even get that far. This place really dropped the ball here. My doc sent a referral 2 months ago. After calling a month later - and hearing their voicemail say to call if you don’t hear anything after 2 weeks call us - they said they never received the fax. I let my doc know and gave her the same numbers from before - given to me when I called GL Rheum. It’s been 3 weeks. I called back today and they still can’t find it. I will be looking for a different rheumatologist, one who cares about people and is professional. After this experience I do not believe I would find this doctor or their office to be caring or professional.
Suzanne Enquist: Things run on schedule. It’s no ce to have lab work drawn at the center after your appointment. The staff is great.
Charlotte Lennartz: Very courteous staff and doctors. Great facility. You just can't go wrong!
SG: I started my care at GLCR several years ago after seeing 2 other rheumatologist in the area. Before, I felt as though my symptoms were only being treated with loads of meds, and no real energy was being put into new treatments, and managing the disease. Upon my first visit, the time was taken to thoroughly examine my history and tons of blood work to really get to the root of my disease. I was offered a spot in a clinical trial (and I can say I genuinely made friends with clinical trial staff), which was life changing. I should mention they do labs, infusions, all of it on site. I never struggle to be seen, they go above and beyond to get prior authorizations for needed meds, and treat my disease as unique, not just one fits all. I trust them so much, they now see my teenage daughter. I really can’t say enough good things about them all. I’m so thankful for all of them caring about my quality of life ❤️
george Saucedo: Love this place. Everybody is Friendly and supportive
Bobbie Weller: I am so pleased I came to Great Lakes Rheumatology . I have finally been understood about my symptoms of fibromyalgia, the aches and pains tiredness.Dr Al, is the best . He takes time to listens . He makes a plan for you and hold us accountable to comebback and stay on task .Thank you .
Ron Darling: Doctors are great and the staff is always friendly! They were able to figure out a treatment regimen that allowed me to return to work like nothing was wrong. They seem to greet most of their patients by name and are always so nice. They even have a lab in the building to take care of you right then. Great people!
Elaine Jackson: I just saw Aastyn she is wonderful . Listens well explains thourly
Diana Russell: Everyone in the office is so nice and very helpful.Kevin Duffy is the best. He is so thorough and alerted me to some health issues I would have never known I had. I’m so grateful for him!
John craft: Dr. Duffy and staff are amazing. Finally found a doctor that listens and actually cares about ME.THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH
Patricia Ball: Service is always GREAT
Hasan Alizadeh: As a person with RA I have been visiting the GLCR for a long time. It is really a patient friendly welcoming environment. I just had infusion yesterday, I felt like a guest very nice and passionate PA and care takers👍
Anna Bug: The PA that I see, Aastyn Peterson, is hands down one of the best doctors I’ve ever seen. She is kind, thorough, compassionate, and makes it a point that you not only feel heard & adequately cared for, but also that you really understand what’s going on in your body. She is knowledgable about the complexity of chronic illness and you can tell she cares a lot about what she does. She creates a sense of safety through her friendly & relatable bedside manner. I truly feel like a human being at this office and not just another patient. I am very thankful for the plan I now have to strengthen my body and work toward less pain.
Roger Stair: Dr. June clearly demonstrates his knowledge, experience, compassion and intelligence; as well, he is an excellent listener. Courtney C is also amazing. I greatly appreciate her compassion, knowledge, listening skills and her ability to address my questions informatively and with humor. Both demonstrate respect that I am an individual with independent needs, and neither of them attempt to influence my decisions with what I refer to as 'uncaring broad strokes of medical minutia'. I appreciate them for who they are and the manner in which we interact, and feel fortunate that they are treating my medical issues.
Dorothy Jones: Kevin is a sleuth. Attentive & a sponge soaking in info and sorting out what it all could mean.
Mr Graham: I have been to several drs and specialists and Great Lakes Center of Rheumatology figured it out! Ms. Peterson PA and Dr. June are awesome!
Teresa Salmi: I have been seeing Dr. June for years. I cannot thank him enough or express what he has meant to me these past years.I was diagnosed in 2012 with RA. He has fought for me in every way possible. He stays on top of all treatments.. He knows my chart front to back and my other health issues. He is a brilliant healer.I cannot recommend him enough.Dr. June has been incredibly thorough in his selections of the Doctors, Nurses, Physicians assistants, phlebotomists, well, you get the idea.I have never had a bad experience at Great Lakes Rheumatology. If you need a place to heal, please try them. I know how hard this "invisible" disease is on you and your family. I am particular about providing a reference. This one was easy.
Kathy Harte Reed: This is my 12th year I’m going to Great Lakes. The doctors, PAs, assistance, clerical staff, and those in the infusion room are wonderful. In all my years of surgeries I’ve had to go through, and now infusions, I’ve never had a better infusion than Patti. 99.9% of the time my hey are pain-free. Thank you, Patti! Treatments-have kept my disease under control &with my infusions I am able to go without much pain. This is a drastic change. I will be forever grateful to them.In addition, I have had several other problems pop up and Tony and Kevin have been able to diagnose them or get me to the proper doctor. Couple of those times I ended up in surgery and would have ignored signs without them. Thank you all at Great Lakes. You all ROCK!
Sierra King: The staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They address not only the patient, but the person.

Dr. Patricia C. Cagnoli, MD: what do users think?
sandy dunham: Doc Kolstoe is a caring and kind Dr. Gives me plenty of time to discuss
Kavita Drolet: I would give zero star if that was an option. She would not see me, even though i scheduled appointment to see her specifically. Had to see her PA Sunita. She made me take Xrays and no one followed up with results or recommendations of the Xray. Anything we talked about in the visit the PA did not do any of it. No one even looked at them and they charged my insurance $3500 for them. Worst doctors ever.
Cap'n Merica: Arrogant. Belittles patients with tales of her own experiences.
Kate C: I am very impressed by Dr. Cagnoli. She is caring, knowledgeable and very thorough. She handled my daughter's care competently and compassionately. One of the things I liked is that she did not talk down to us. She explained things at the level we needed them explained. She listened to my daughter's questions and answered them patiently. She was responsive to our needs. As a mother, I felt like we had been to the best there is in this specialty. I highly recommend. The office staff was kind as well, and there is a lab conveniently in the office.

Monika Mohan, MD: what do users think?
Jennett Shook: Dr. Mohan does not take the time to know her patients or listen to them. I have fibromyalgia, neuropathy and heart conditions that both of those doctors think they are all connected and coming from the auto immune issue. My ANA is positive, was checked for 4 auto immune diseases and was told by Dr. Mohan that I do not have an auto immune issue and I must be just someone that has pain for no reason. I would never recommend this Dr. and will be sharing my experience with the Doctor that referred me and the many people I served this country with.
meme: Absolutely an amazing experience every visit. My daughter and I both see Dr. Mohan. She is the most efficient Dr I have ever seen. Thank you Dr Mohan
Melissa Hansen: Amazing people and place! Dr Mohan and her staff are kind, caring, and experienced. Kate, Teri, and Jody (sorry can't recall all of your smiling faces and names).....to name just a few of the staff are the best. Definitely in "good hands":)!!!
Jan Walsworth: I'm surprised at the negative review for Dr Mohan and her staff. They are extremely busy and sometimes patience is needed but I've never experienced anything but kindness and individuals going the extra mile to make sure my needs are met.
Meaghan Meister: They are illegally holding my husband's medical records. By law you have a right to YOUR medical records. Only thing they can charge is for printing the records which must be a normal set charge for anyone that equals up to and not greater than $1.50 a page. (Per lawyer). This office is a joke. They didn't even do anything for my husband in the first place. Waste of time a illegal practices.
Amber: I was kicked out because my mental health issues prevented me from making a few appointments. I liked the medical staff, but feel betrayed and left me in massive pain.
Cindy Smith: Our family member was treated horribly at this practice by the office staff. Would not recommend putting anyone in that environment.
Christine Quigley: My daughter and I both see Dr. Mohamed. We very seldom have to wait to see her at our appointment time. I’d say in the last six years they were running behind 3 times. Better than any doctor I have been too. She always takes the time to listen to what we have to say and asks the appropriate questions. She has helped us way beyond any doctor we have seen and we have seen many trying to get some one who understood and helped us with our issues. I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Mohamed and her staff.
Hattie Danby: Just another doctor to take your blood and not offer any answers or direction. I feel like they didn't even try to help me. What a waste of time and money this place was.
Teresa Gomez: Doctor and staff are caring and professional. Highly recommended!!
Sylvia Hatcher: Have had good results with Dr Mohan.
Good Dog Calendar: Wonderful office -- very caring staff and doctors. Had a great experience and they got me back up on my feet again after diagnosing my PsA. Highly recommend them. Janet Smith/Good Dog! Training
Jan Fillion: The office staff is kind and Dr Mohan is a super caring excellent Dr, she is amazing..
Kayla Cooper: Would never recommend her!
Lev Raphael: I've never been treated so disdainfully in all my interactions with a doctor before. I was given information about drugs she suggested I choose between. I read all of it carefully and then spent two weeks reading about them on legitimate medical web sites. They have many potential side effects but most alarmingly, one has the risk of jaw necrosis, the other malignant cancer. These are risks I am absolutely not willing to take under any circumstances. I am not ignorant, I am an author, well-educated, and proactive in my health care. I am going to pursue alternative treatments and said as much. Mohan responded with contempt and even quiet anger, and her threatening tone when she said something like "Your bones are very thin and you risk fracture" made it sound like I could drop dead any minute. Short term, I would rather risk a fracture than risk cancer or jaw necrosis, and when you're told you can't take a drug more than two years because of the cancer risk after two years have passed, is there some time table? How does cancer know that the two years have passed? I'm being sarcastic, of course, deservedly so. This doctor shut me out when I disagreed, was not interested in my reasoning, dismissed me as not worth listening to and really needs a refresher course in how to interact with patients--and more than just a weekend workshop. I understand she felt she was doing her job as a doctor, but that also includes taking her patients seriously as people, not symptoms, and treating them in a civil--perhaps even pleasant--manner. I would never recommend her to anyone and am going to tell my GP, who recommended her, about this experience with her. It was distinctly unpleasant.
Vonda Hamilton: I feel like she put a new spin on life for me, did some blood work and figured out my problems and put me back on the road of comfort. She also helped me find other doctors that could take care of my other medical problems.I hurt for a long time before I went to see Dr. Mohan and I passed through several doctor offices with no help. She is a very smart person and does her job to the fullest.
Katrina Nielsen: When I first went to Dr. Mohan I was a very scared 25 year woman with alot going on. My primary was suspicous of an autoimmune based on the trademark "butterfly" rash covering my face, the extreme fatigue, crippling migraines and severe joint pain. I also have had extreme sun sensitivity since my early teens that was not easily remedied with skin creams, sunscreen or simple avoidance. The first time I met Dr. Mohan she was so knowledgable, sympathic and kind she instantly put my mind at ease. She could tell but looking at me and my records I clearly had an autoimmune disorder, probably she suspected Lupus. She drew labs and met with me again to confirm our thoughts. We have had to adjust and try many medications over the years but every step of the way her and her office staff have been so great and supportive! She has ordered the appropriate testing and sent me out for consults when necessary, I tell everyone I can about how wonderful she is.Because Dr. Mohan keeps herself so educated I was able to get on a medication many doctors have never even heard of, that is now slowly helping give me my life back. Every month I am stronger, more energized and feel better longer. I adore the office girls, the nursing team and Dawn in billing is amazing at going the distance to help a patient! I can't imagine my life and where I would be without Dr. Mohan and her team!Katrina Nielsen
Jody Pettinger: When diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis I explained I had recovered from Sepsis and was not healthy enough to take immune system lowering drugs. I am also a DES daughter and was born with cancer and cancer also runs high in my paternal side of the family. I also had a broken molar I was trying to keep from getting infected until I could afford to get it cut out, and two knee replacements that cannot tolerate an infection. Therefore I would like to start with an Anti-inflammatory Drug until I get healthier. I specifically told her "NO Methotrexate or Biologic Drugs" I knew about these drugs because my sister takes them, it is not pretty and she does not have the same history as I. I usually see her PA, rarely her. A year later, when I had all kinds of problems going on I went to an allergist, who told me to research my medications. I discovered why my hair was falling out in hand-fulls, sores in my nose, sinus & body, severe nausea, Headaches/fevers, my eyeballs felt swollen, vision really blurry, hard bumps under skin, severe water diarrhea for months, and much more. She had given me a drug called "Sulfasalazine" which I had checked out on line and didn't find much, but I felt better with what I thought was a anti-inflammatory. This time I found, (on UK websites) that it was a DMARD (disease modifying anti-rhuematic drug and the 'only' other DMARD was Methotrexate. SHE LIED TO ME STRAIGHT AWAY, and didn't say anything when I got vaccines and other things that is not supposed to be done when your immune system is compromised. She had put me on a drug that lowered my white blood cell count and created all the above symptoms and more that I had also put off to allergy's. THEN this week I saw her PA Ann Teremi who, when questioned about the lies, told me that there are many DMARDS and the one I was taking didn't lower my immune system/blood counts. She Was Also Lying Straight To My Face! I asked if I had to slowly wean off this drug or could I just quit to check my symptoms. She told me I could go off and slowly re-introduce the drug. I had to 'talk her into' giving me anti-biotics (bactrim) for the infections and sores because it would take another week to get into my primary. This Doctor Is not a Team Player and her staff follows suit, she does not listen to patients, she endangered me by lying about the drug she gave me (anti-inflammatory vs DMARD) which was increased slowly to 6,000 MG a day. I /You should be able to trust a Doctor to have your interests ie. needs met, not to poison me with toxins I specifically told her I would not take until I was healthier.

Rick Hoffman: I was referred to Dr June who not only got me back on track but volunteered to be my temporary PCP until I found a new one. Thank you Dr. June!
Mazaya Shah: I want to put zero stars but Google won't let me. I've been seeing June for a couple of years he is my rheumatologist. The very first time I met him, he told me something very racist about my race. For years after that he treated me normally, but then out of the blue said something very racist to me again at an appointment. At least he didn't keep it to himself, so now I know just how racist he is.
Carol Vitu: Dr. June is very thorough and knowledgeable. Great rheumatologist.
T: Apptmnt went well.thank you
Tony Moss: Love my medical team
Heather Deann: Hands down best rheumatologist I've seen! He has a patient for life. I've been sick for 2.5 years. During that time I seen 9 rheumatologist. My first visit Dr June and his team reviewed my medical records for 3 hours. Not one doctor that I see during the two years ever did that. He has excellent bedside manner. He answers all your questions and never makes you feel beneath him. I referred several people to him and no one I have sent has been disappointed in his service. His PA Dr. Duffy is great too! They have infusions on site. They have T-shirts that you can buy that goes towards the Lupus Foundation. They also are involved in rheumatic studies like U of M.
Jill Croley: Dr June listens to you. I respect his decisions and feel he has my best interests in mind. He has my total trust.
Lydia Andrew: Excellent service
Russ Bennett: Great doc!
Matt Foster: Dr June is a good guy. He dosen't hurry and likes to talk.
44grneyz: Orders thousands of dollars of tests, and doesn’t review the results before making a clinical diagnosis. Does not return medical question messages via phone or email. Completely confused and unsatisfied. Extremely long office wait times, and rude office staff.
Jacqueline Dunham-Baker: If you are in need of a Rheumatologist, please consider Dr. Joshua June, of Great Lakes Center of Rheumatology. Dr June is a very professional, caring and is genuinely concern for the wealth of his patients. His staffs are all pleasant and courteous. Just a wonderful atmosphere
Martha Sutterer: Dr. June is actually located in Lansing, Michigan. I have been a patient of his for about 2 years now. He has been such a huge help to me, and provided answers to my joint pain that the orthopaedic doctors did not. He always seems to be up on the latest research, explains things to me, and seems to genuinely care about my health and pain level. I would highly recommend him.

Great Lakes Center of Rheumatology West (formerly Beals Institute): what do users think?
K R: The doctor/practice was supposed to address a billing problem that was generated by using their in house lab. The labwork was connected to a rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis. Apparently the diagnostic codes were not accepted by Medicare as there was no notation as to why the blood tests were needed. As a result, our supplemental insurance would not cover it either. We know that the types of tests taken are tests that are fully covered by Medicare with the correct diagnostic code as my spouse needs them for their health issues. The person at the in house lab was useless in correcting the issue. They said the doctor would have to correct diagnostic codes. After 6 months of trying to correct the issue we had to pay the lab bill as they were sending us to a collection agency. It cost us close to $300 to clear the bill. The worst part is that there was never any communication with us by the doctor. We left several messages and were never told if the problem was even being addressed by the practice. It seems that rheumatoid arthritis would be a fairly common diagnosis for people on Medicare. Since they accept Medicare it follows that the practice should be able to provide the correct diagnostic codes for lab work. Use them at your own risk.
Lori Bell: I started with Dr June almost a year ago. He has helped me tremendously. He takes the time to explain things, he listens and makes me feel heard. I was in a bad way last year...this year I feel I have my life back. I'm very happy with the services I've received.
Taylor Jacobs: Had a few questions and was helped by Yvelise over the phone! Amazing customer service and easily helped me understand! Thank you for a pleasurable experience!
Debbie Fitzgerald: Staff is helpful and very friendly. The doctors are thorough and extremely compassionate. I highly recommend this office.
Ashley Brennan: GLCOR goes above and beyond in care from the front desk to the physicians. Dr. June is wonderful at putting all the pieces of the puzzle together and making you feel whole again. Dr. Trinh is amazing! Dr. Trinh also sees my children and is wonderful with them. I highly recommend this office!
Anne N: The only reason why I gave them 3 star is because I love Dr. Kolstoe. Had been calling for almost 3 wks, no one answer the phone or return call when I left message. When I finally got a live body, the person answered like I was interrupting her nap, very rude. Came in, girl in the front with the ring on her nose, extremely rude didn't even answered when we said good morning
Annette Clarren: Staff is very friendly and helpfull
Jenee Wilson: I see Dr. Trihn and love her. It took me a few tries at different places to find someone knowledgeable to my condition. I waited to write a review until I had been with her for a few months. In addition, the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.
Scott Lafreniere: Great place
Mary Ellen Lowe: I've been with this practice at least 15 years. Super staff and doctors.
Courtney ApplesOranges: I can't say enough good things about the staff at this facility!
Jen Grice: UPDATE: I do NOT like the new practice that took over after Dr. Cagnoli moved to Brighton and Dr. Beals retired. I won't be going back!! I'm not treated the same way or with the amount of care as with the doctors. They basically just prescribe my daily medication (to keep my disease from taking over) BUT removed all pain meds. You're basically on your own when you're sick! Both Dr. Cagnoli and Dr. Beals are wonderful. They diagnosed me where other doctors couldn’t or wouldn’t. But I won’t see the Nurse Practitioners. They don’t trust the patient to know their own body and they give wrong information. One was even rude to me once. I’ll stick with the doctors from now on.
Melissa “Liss” Peterson: No one EVER answers the phone there. Office staff is rude. Nurse ALWAYS gets my prescriptions wrong. They will not call in refills but do not give you enough meds until your next appointment. My appointment with beals was over a month ago & I'm still waiting on my scheduled shot. It has taken them almost a month to even call it in. My shot needs to be taken every three months on time or my fingers start to deform & my nails fall off. Beals even yelled @ me once & threatened to refuse treatment (not legal! look it up)
Laura Miller: Office policy’s are awful. I had an appointment on Monday afternoon, woke up sick, called at 8:05 to cancel appointment, rescheduled for the next week. I received a letter on Thursday stating I didn’t give them 24 hours notice you can do this once and if I did it again I would be charged! How could I give them notice on a Sunday. I called and asked about this, explaining I woke up sick, didn’t go to work and was told too bad!!! Found a new Dr.
Connie Federspiel: Quick to help me work on getting my knees feeling better and I’m SOOOOOO thankful. I enjoy all the staff and wish I had been referred to Beals Institute sooner! Hopefully I can continue to to find answers and Co tiniest relief to avoid joint replacement 😊
Mister Mister: Doctor listens to patients, actually wants to help and is a top-notch professional. Not your usual cookie cutter physician. HIGHLY recommended!
Kayla Cooper: Dr. Beals is a phenomenal doctor who goes above and beyond. She picked up on things no other doctor has before and took her time with me. She is extremely kind hearted and listened to my concerns. She has more knowledge than any other doctor ive been too and I would highly recommend her to anyone.
Georgia Shuler: Dr. Reddog Sina is AMAZING. He really, really cares about his patients. He listens and responds to their needs. I have gone there for the last 2 1/2 years, as needed, for an injury and he always helps me feel better than I walked in. He's also managed to help with other issues I happen to be dealing with at the time, just because he's so awesome, like headaches and joint pain. His staff are all kind and caring as well. So glad I found him.
Steph Epps: I can trust Dr. Beals with my health. She's awesome!!
Julie Miller: I am extremely afraid of taking medication. I have rheumatoid arthritis and Dr. Cagonoli listened to my concerns and helped me choose a not so aggressive treatment to ease me into a program that works for me. The staff is so kind. It was refreshing to have a Doctor and office staff who treated me with compassion and kindness, like a person and not a quota that has to be met. I would highly recommend this institute to anyone.
Lois: Kind, efficient & trustworthy.
