East Lansing Public Library: what do users think?
X. RAO: One of the larger size library, compared to all of Capital Area Library system (not part of CADL). Nicely renovated with unique decorations. Open space and well lighted. All area are kept very clean. General great staffVariety of selections of books, magazine, CD, DVD, etc.Several different rooms for meetings and community activities. There is 3D device that you can pay to do 3D printing.EVEN not part of CADL, You can return books from any CADL libraries to other CADL libraries.
Madison Roberts: I love the library, with a few complaints. After school, several teens come and are running through the library, yelling, cursing, and being noisy for hours. Staff hasn’t said anything to them. I’m super happy they find the library a welcoming place to come, but they should learn library etiquette as it makes the library a less enjoyable space for people looking for a quiet place to read or study. Also, several books I’ve wanted to check out are overdue by months. I get not wanting to have fines and I agree, but there’s no incentive for people to return books on time. Not sure how to fix this problem.Overall it’s a great library and I’d definitely recommend it. Maybe avoid it during after school hours if you’d like a quiet place! Staff is super friendly and wifi is great
That's My Two Cents: Wow, i sure wish i knew the name of the young lady who helped me today. She was What being helped at the library should be. I’m sure she was a student at MSU. She was half my age, and she was very helpful, very kind, very respectful, the way people like to be treated. She carried on a real conversation with me, listened to my Dad jokes and didn’t make me feel like i was being rushed off. Made my first experience at this library very AWESOME !!! Thank you very, very much !!!
Charli Simone: I go to the library everyday after school and have recently noticed a man who comes in and looks at inappropriate images on the computer. I reported him of course because it’s a public place where children come to play. I told on woof the librarians and he barely acknowledged my existence and did absolutely nothing about it. Not exactly what I would call a child friendly place.
Brian K: Tried taking my kids there to get a library card and checkout some books. The librarian told us that we didn't live in East Lansing so we weren't allowed to get a library card (even if their people told us we could at the farmers market urging us to open one).We then had to tell the kids to put back the books they chose and she ushered us out of the library like we were some second class citizens. Not even giving us an opportunity to pay the $30 some odd fee for a card as if we couldn't afford it.Terrible first experience with libraries for the kids.
Ahmed Elshafie: The staff are very helpful and very welcoming. Kids section is great and full of wonderful books and computers that you can use for kids under time control. Usually you get a free membership if you live in the same map distribution of the library, otherwise 30$ annually is really worth it.
Shannon Kelley: Wonderful options for East Lansing residents. Staff members were happy to answer questions and approached two of us waiting for another in our party to see if we were waiting or all together.
Bloom: I've been going to east lansing public library since I was little! This place never fails to impress!
Molly Bancroft: I was immediately welcomed and assisted at the circulation desk and was issued a new library card within 10 minutes. Great new books section. Rugs could use some freshening but it's a great library for our community!
Peter R: Fine library.
Pedro Nariyoshi: Great library. Maker studio and rental tools are great. Also very good at Covid-related safety.PS, one can use their CADL card to check items out. No need to pay the extra fee
BigSoLDaddy: Books and CDs and DVDs and more. All free at the library!
Joe W.: Quaint library, with a nice variety. Friendly staff
Ron Perry: A very well supplied local library with many different spaces for study and collaboration, as well as a very friendly and helpful staff
Chris Schicker: My favorite library because of their hours. You can study late on a weekday and don't have to worry about parking.
Ben Eysselinck: ELPL is a good place to be. Whether you're looking to read, meet with others, use the maker's room, or even borrow a tool, They've got you taken care of and the folks that work there are the nicest.
Victor Lee: Great place for kids, public computers, meeting rooms, activity room, 3D printing. Everything a modern library should have and great staff to boot. Oh and they have books.
Macey: Super nice and very clean.
Victoria Dolton: The East Lansing Library is a delightful place to visit. The staff is so helpful!
Jared Koekkoek: 4 stars for it being a spartan spit location. Pretty quiet and out of the way. Free parking available. Very easy and obvious pick up and drop off. Well done, East Lansing and MSU
Chuck Grigsby: Great place for many things. The people who work there are phenomenal!
