She explained what she was doing and why. She is very knowledgeable. I plan to go back soon. I would definitely refer friends and family to Kim.

I received a gift certificate for a prenatal massage. I scheduled my appointment online, including figuring out how to select a gift certificate as a payment method (it's not intuitive). I hit schedule and it has asks me to make a new patient profile. I set up the portal and spend a good hour on this website getting it all filled out. I received 3 separate email messages that everything is setup.I show up to my appointment time and I'm not in the system. The receptionist tells me I just made a profile and didn't schedule anything. It makes zero sense since I scheduled it and followed every prompt. They acted like I made the whole thing up, and we're accusatory asking me about confirmation emails, apparently the 3 confirmation emails I received including information on masking was just for the portal and not actually for the appointment.I guess I was just supposed to magically know this??I receive no apology and just was made to feel really dumb for apparently not knowing how their system works.I cannot tell you how disappointing it is to be 34 weeks pregnant and greatly looking forward to a prenatal massage to be told there's no appointment and not even get a sorry, just to be made to feel like I made the whole thing up. Absolutely not the experience I was expecting.

Cheyenne Zimmerman: Got a massage there today for the first time. I frequent massage places around lansing and theirs said “free table shower” online with some of the time so I wanted to try it out. I called to make sure they had time and came in right away. I pulled out the cash from the atm and I wanted an 120 minute massage that was priced at 125 so I pulled 160 out of the atm. The lady watched me over my back the whole time. I gave her the 140 expecting the 15 in change back. When she counted the money she looked at me and said “60 minute massage” I said no 120 please. She then shook her head at me and clicked her tongue. She took the whole 140 and gave me no change when I was prepared to tip 35 after my service was over, I’ve never had a business not give me change before and just take whatever the leftover was. I should’ve walked out then. I went back to the room and undressed. She came back to do my massage and was talking to another lady. Now I had paid for a TWO hour massage because I’m a CNA and a resident had really hurt me lifting them a few days ago. The other lady tapped on me and asked if they could both do my massage so it would be 1 hour instead of 2 since there were two people doing it. At this point I was already so disappointed I said fine. The actual massage was great other than the two ladies talking to each other most of the time which made it less relaxing and paying for a 2 hour massage and only receiving a one hour massage even though they weren’t busy. I was also never offered the free table shower either. Overall, very disappointed and out a lot of money and do not feel very relaxed after. There are other massage places in Lansing that are cheaper and have workers that are less rude and give change back instead of expecting you to tip up front before the service even starts. Only giving 2 stars instead of 1 because the actual massage was very good.

First red flag, they say they don’t have availability after I just talked to someone, then they made me pay first which I should have stopped right then. But it was for my friends birthday and wanted to make it happen for us, so we pay ( don’t take cards so I get a $4 atm charge ) then we go next door no one says anything about what to do but we get all set up and begin the worst massage of our lives. My girl didn’t use oil until half way through the massage when I asked what she was doing, she massaged our bare butts and pulled down our underwear completely, my friends girl took a FaceTime call during the massage and set her phone on my friends butt during it, she left the room at least 4 times during the massage, they cut it short, only did my back never touched our necks, heads, hands, feet. We both hurt so bad the next day I can hardly move. I truly don’t know how they’re in business. It was also so crazy to me we filled out no paperwork, I’ve had a lot of massages and there is always a lot of information that needs to be known before a a massage. I also want to add the lady blocked the door so we couldn’t leave until we tipped her which she didn’t deserve. They say they don’t take cards because people tell the bank they want their money back, I sure don’t wonder why! I feel horrible I ruined my friends birthday, wasted money and am in so much pain.

Then the person who answered the phone started talking to someone else, assuming it was a coworker since they were speaking in another language. I assumed they were trying to figure out the schedule but then I heard what sounded like "call back" but was unsure if she was talking to me or someone else. When i asked if they said they would like for me to call back i was ignored while she continued to talk to someone else. I am unsure what was being said since they were still speaking in another language. The lady then asked if i was still there and when i told her yes i am trying to find out about availability i was yelled at that i was told to call back. When i explained i was unsure if they were telling that to me, which i asked for clarification and didn't get it, i was cut off at the word unsure and yelled at that "i told you call back" and hung up on. I will never make an appointment here, they were rude and extremely unprofessional. I never raised my voice, wasn't argumentive and was only asking for clarification since they were talking to me and another person at the same time. I did not deserve to be treated so ruffle or hung up on. If this is how they act when someone is just trying to book an appointment I'm extremely surprised they even stay in business.Edit to add response:No, i most certainly will not call again or ever walk in. I do not believe she was frustrated due to communication problem considering she didn't even let me finish speaking for there to be any kind of issue with a language barrier, nor did i ever give her a reason to think there was an issue with the language barrier. I am very patient and understanding when it comes to language barriers. If you were the one she was asking then you right there and you heard how she was talking to a customer. Also, If you know she has a hard time with English then don't have that specific worker answering phones if you know they get frustrated like that, you don't put your employees in a position to feel like that, that's irresponsible management on your part then.

Another note I personally found the table head area very comfortable. I have issue with some places the tables hurts my neck during the massage and this one did not. Will be returning in the future. Massage has done more to decrease the frequency and duration of my migraines than anything else I've tried. Stacy is well-trained, skilled, and firm but gentle. She occasionally refers to anatomy charts to point out which muscle group she's targeting or to explain what she's feeling in my back or shoulders. I highly recommend trying GLCM!

midwestman78: I have been going to Akoya Massage (previously Warm Hands Chinese Massage) for almost 10 years. With only a couple exceptions, I have always gotten a very good, comforting, Chinese style massage. I know the owners, they are very nice. They work hard to insure that every customer's experience is good. Some of the reviews have mentioned that they have been asked for a large tip. I had this experience once. I immediately contacted the owners and they not only profusely apologized, but shortly after, fired the staff that did that. I have been back several times since and have had excellent massages and no pressure to tip a specific amount.For those of you that have never had a Chinese Massage, it is very different from a "typical" American massage. They use more pressure than most are used to, they walk on your back if you allow them to (I have always been asked first). The first part of the massage is done with a towel on you. This lasts maybe 10-15 minutes as they loosen you up. They then proceed with warm oil massage.You also have to understand that some of the ladies speak very little English so you cannot have a conversation with them and they may not understand what you are asking them to do or not do. Have a little patience and communicate as best you can to have them understand.I can highly recommend Akoya Massage if you want a very good, deep, Chinese style massage. Making an appointment is a good idea. If you call, you will probably talk to one of the owners to make the appointment. They're friendly and will do their best to get you in when it is convenient.

B. P.: It has been a few weeks since I've been here. I received several massages over the years at this place. Over the past 2 years, the same ladies have been here and have become very aggressive. They don't listen to pressure request, walk on your back, and worst of all, demand payment and a 40 dollar tip up front! Twice they showed me a price menu with the required 40 dollar tip written in. Twice I walked in and they said if I was unwilling to tip 40, go right back out the door. When i gave a 10 dollar tip for a short changed massage, i was called cheap! Then they changed the ladies and they started giving 20 min massages before asking for more money. When I asked for a refund, I had both ladies begging me to stay, but not speaking clear English. It has become a horrible place. It is a scam now. Used to be awesome, especially when Mary was there!

Then when we were leaving they said our tip was not enough and demanded atleast $20 tip for each person. Very disappointed, I didn't think a tip could be demanded.....

Aja Tucker: I went here because it was Thanksgiving and no other massage places were open. I would not go back. Stayed cold the whole time just cover me with the towel. She massaged me for half of the appointment with the hard towel. After she was done she wanted to recommend the tip and wanted me to pay her more than I felt I should. You get a great tip because you do a great job not just because you did your basic job. I would not go back find a better place. I get many massages over the years and I've never had someone massage me with the towel. Just a rough towel against my skin. Don't go here go somewhere else not worth it. Felt like she didn't have any actual masseuse skills I could do that massage. Every other masseuse I've went to has had better skills than the girl that I had so if you want a real massage try somewhere else.

Kristi White: I have been here several times. Saturday was an unpleasant experience. The therapist demanded payment up front and asked for a 30 percent tip. I was already in the room, when she brought in the credit card charge.She walked on my legs and back. I wasnt thriled, but, like other comments, I decided to trust she was trained. She then started working on my back. It really hurt and I asked her to lighten the pressure. Im not sure she understood. The next day, my ribs were sore, and my back was bruised. I don’t think i will be returning.

Yaseen: Where should I begin, from the walk in they demanded that I pay upfront and demanded TIP? I told her none speaking English self I will pay tip based on the service I receive. Then she pulled the phone to translate I felt like I was in 30 day fiancee show😂😂. It gets worse I asked for the 60min for $65 she said sorry only 30min for $45 now if that's not a scam I don't know what it is. Then another client walks in for his 60min appointment the other lady says to him sorry only 30min for $45 and asked him to pay upfront and tip he looked at me with a confused face I told him this is very bad from the start. So I told her I don't want this service cancel my transaction and she said I don't know how so I told her we live in a country of law dont make me call the cops and find out the hard way, then she proceeded to beg me to let her do the service I told her I dont want it anymore I'll deal with my pain just refund me please so I can leave. Then the other lady steps in and starts to beg and says I'll do it please please please I felt bad so I got the service for 20min and she said you're done. So I'm warning everyone this place is a dirty business and a SCAM.

Family should not be allowed to give accolades just to get more positive reviews!!!! After a couple of years of massages here that use to be a great experience. I'm done! I won't go back. The girls hair is sodirty and unkept. Skin is visibly oily so hygiene is not a priority. Especially with Covid. Repeatedly, they have used the language barrier to massage longer without discussing. Then the girls demand higher price and this higher tip. Mary, the owner is aware of all of this so she condones this behavior...more money for her and hubby. Little scam artists who play dumb that can't understand you. They need one clear English speaking employee. They do talk to each other in their native language while each is with the client which is about as unprofessional as you get. Another clue that they are not trained as they claim, is a seasoned massage therapist NEVER takes their hand off the body. They even stop your massage to answer incoming calls! Mary, the owner is a liar. She tells me a girl is certified in Ashiatsu, where the therapist uses the ceiling bars and feet ONLY to perform a number of techniques. This gal knew nothing...slid all over my body and lost her balance! Unsafe for both of us. I started getting concerned about the number of men coming and going late at night while I waited. Anyone else experience this? Another thing...make an appointment but don't be surprised if they "fit in" an extra client rushing your massage. After much research, I found awesome massage therapists inside Lansing Mall near the T Mobile store entrance. It's called Coco Massage. Fair prices, clean, totally client centered, incredible hours in to the night, and no begging for tips. Show them where and what you like and they are happy to oblige. They are so appreciative, I have no problem leaving a $20 tip for an hour. They have never disappointed! It's walk in or by appointment which I usually make. Such a better experience here every time.dirty. Mary. the owner is pushy. It's true about the tips. They have used the language barriers to massage longer than requested and then very unprofessionally act angry and over and over ask for a bigger tip.

Jeff M: The therapist injured my rib cage. I told her it hurt and she continued. 4 days later I have more discomfort/pain in my ribs than the day after the massage. I did not know she was going to walk on my back. With my face down I didn't know that's what she was going to do. I decided to trust she knew what she was doing. BIG MISTAKE! Their website does not indicate they do this.I told her to concentrate mostly on my neck and shoulders. I may as well have talked to the wall.While she was treating me she carried on conversations with a therapist in another room so I felt a lack of privacy.They also expect a gratuity of over 30% for an hour massage. I assume they are poorly paid by the owner.
