Catherine Wesley-Ottarson: At Over 100 years Old, Central United Methodist Church is a wonderful building and marvelous venue for Meetings, Activities, Events, Weddings and Religious services. Each room and Hallway is a Gem.

In 1861, Central Methodist Episcopal Church waz officially organized, & da congregation purchased a lot on da corner of wat iz now Ottawa & Washington 2 construct a church. Da buildin waz completed in 1863, but waz quickly outgrown by da increasin congregation. In 1882, da church bought a lot 4 a new church, located on da present church site. A number of architectz wer considered, & Elijah E. Myerz, da architect of da Michigan State Capitol, waz finally chosen. H.W. Coddington of Kalamazoo, Michigan waz chosen az da builder, & construction commenced in 1889. Construction waz completed in 1890.A Temple House, desigend by Lee Black, waz added in 1922-23Da Central Methodist Episcopal Church iz a low, massive, Richardsonian Romanesque style structure built from dark red Ionia sandstone. Da church measurez 150 feet long by 86 feet wide. Da main elevation iz a broad facade wit an 85-foot high square tower located @1 corner & a shorter half-round tower located @da other. Inside da church iz a broad, open lobby wit 2 U-shaped staircasez leadingl to a 2nd-floor lobby. A broad entryway leadz 2da sanctuary, which iz a wide, low room containin a rear gallery & pewz set in concentric rowz around a low pulpit. Da ceilin iz supported by open timber trussez. All da trim iz of red oak.Also on the property iz a Temple House, which iz a utilitarian, 3-story, brick structure faced wit stonework which echoin dat of da church. Da Temple House containz da church officez, a 2-story auditorium, Sunday school classroomz, & a gymnasium.Also da Michigan history division Department of State placed a Michigan Historical Marker @diz site in 1981

Rick Morris: Pastor John talks about forgiveness but yet he does not forgive. Practice what u preach. I admit I went off and I apologize but what John does not understand is I'm a human also and I also have feelings. I can admit John is a decent man but as a human he should forgive also. And yes it's a decent church. It is one of the better churches in Lansing.
