elizabeth roberts: I knew more about weight loss than they did. This is a scam. They require you to use their supplements that are not allergen free. They promote the use of caffeine pills. It is not customizable. There are no physicians.
Amanda Austin: I was very excited to start my journey in losing weight with this program, I joined in October and was told about how the program works, I was told as long as I come in 3x a week to do my weigh ins and bring my journal, I can have MWL support until my goal was met. Well I ended up getting Covid in November so they told me they would pause my weight loss program, I started back up after my quarantine. It took me a little bit to get back into the program because Covid was rough on me, I had no appetite and I lost all taste and smell, when I finally was able to eat, I struggled with the program because it was right around the holidays, after Christmas I did go in for one of my weigh ins and I had gained two pounds, the lady that weighed me was training two girls, and I told her I was struggling, she told me my program was almost over and I did not buy the maintenance option, so they were not going to support me if I do not meet my goal by the time my program was over, so basically they lied in the beginning to me about helping me reach my goal, and they never extended my program when they paused it when I was sick with Covid. I was very upset and discouraged after I went in that day and never went back but to pick up the rest of my supplements I had paid for, I spent a lot of money for that program and I did NOT feel like I got what I paid for AT ALL.

Jennifer Kearney: I have struggled with my weight for a long time. I have been with this program for about 3 months. The plan is easy and IT WORKS! I've lost more weight than I ever dreamed I could in 12 weeks. And more than I ever have with any other program I've ever tried. Mark Mantyla: As a Middle Aged, slightly overweight guy, it’s hard to admit things are getting out of control with your health. Then it’s even worse when you try and try and just can’t get results on your own.I happened to come across this place quite randomly through a friend. When I first walked in and met Dayna there, I knew at the least if I didn’t lose weight, she was gonna be fun to deal with. You can just tell she cares about helping people with their goals.After the consult I decided to give it a try. Is it easy, not really….. but man I’m surprised how well it works, IF you stick to it. I’m even saving money by not eating junk food all the time.I could ask for a better support system that truly CARES about me and my success. I don’t do many of these reviews but I feel so strongly about the great services they are providing.

Thomas Greer: I really can't say enough good about this establishment. I am still and have been a client here for 8 months. Dieting is a personal thing . It requires a real commitment to the process. No one coming to a business of this nature should think that they have some magic there that will make you lose weight. What they do have are the knowledgeable people and the products to help you make the right choices. If "you" are willing to do the work necessary, you will lose weight. I lost 95+ pounds in 6.5 months. It's not easy, it's not cheap, they are professionals , they learn the business of weight loss. so they can help you. My aching knees are gone. My aching ankles are gone. My blood pressure ,which they monitor every time I come in there, (2 times a week) is down from the 170's to between 100 and 110 without medication. I'm 65 yrs old. I'm telling you that it is not cheap, but it is worth every penny to feel as great as I do and to have these happy ,helpful folks at this Okemos MWLC cheer me on each time I come in. Just a side note... their protein shakes are delicious, and they will share some great recipes with you as well..
Julie Curtis: Nothing medical about it. First week cleanse made me so sick I threw up in the zoo parking lot. Recommended snacks are rice cakes and diet crackers. Not aligned with current nutritional research at all.

Verna Smith: I went through the 6 month program and lost 19 pounds, while on the two weeks of supplements I became very constipated and was hospitalized for pancreatitis for 4 days afterwards Dr Lane met with me and was very rude and inconsiderate telling me that I had to start the 6 month program all over again. She said I should have added fiber to the supplements but I was not told that, and then she begin to attack my character by trying to intimidate me accusing me of having a attitude and said she was not going to allow me to have the surgery. He attitude was not pleasant at all, I was warned not to use her but I gave her the benefit of doubt. I couldn’t get her office to send my records to another weight loss program for months. I would in the future not want to work with this person.
Lindsey Richardson: Never felt more unwelcome. They make you pay up front for all your appointments up front, which I don't understand how that is even legal to pay for a service you have not received. Which... then forces you into something you may not be ready for or lose a couple hundred dollars. The nutritionist put in my file that I didn't seem like I was ready for this... But never discussed that with me. I found out from my primary physician. I found many of the staff to be rude and judgemental. Go elsewhere.
Kristan Maybee: Dr. Lane is skilled, efficient, and has the worst bedside manner of any medical provider I've met in my entire life. If you can look past that, the pre surgery program is great. It's informative and chalked full of information. I am now 1.5 years out of surgery and the support is non existent. I've asked questions and been referred to the dietician for a large fee. I've found more help from Facebook groups than this office. The PA is particularly hateful and scoffed at the fact I had severe pain after surgery and had to practically beg for relief. In hindsight, I would have gone elsewhere. I have lost 100 pounds and am happier and healthier, but I don't suggest going through Sparrow for your bariatric surgery needs.

Melanie Spitzley: I completed the entire 6 month program at SMG Bariatrics. I took all the classes, paid all the money, and never missed an appointment. I had to write a letter to Dr. Lane telling about myself and why I needed to have bariatric surgery. She admitted to never reading it. She comes across as rude but nonetheless my surgery was scheduled. I paid for FMLA paperwork, got coverage at work, paid for the foods to take before the surgery, etc. Then 2 weeks before my surgery date, I get a call from Sparrow saying that my insurance denied the preapproval for my surgery. They claimed that I followed the program but my insurance denied all of the surgery requests from Sparrow. When I spoke with the insurance, they said that Sparrow didn't have the proper documentation that I followed a 6 month diet and exercise regiment. It's been over 2 weeks and I continue to contact Sparrow but haven't heard anything. They keep saying that they are "working" on it. I highly recommend that you go somewhere else for your bariatric surgery.
Sadonna Croff: I'm pre-surgery. I will update once I've had surgery. So far they have all been friendly, helpful and informative. I know exactly what to expect from surgery and what I need to do to be successful post- surgery.
Theresa Carpenter: My mother went to Mindy Lane and her health has declined.My mom was able to walk and eat and drink water without issue. After Lane worked on her nothing would stay in she lost weight through starvation became so weak she is in mobile and currently in the hospital.I will be speaking to lawyers soon.Do not go to her unless you want to die.
LJsully: This is an intensive program but it should be because my life was at stake and SBG is helping me to reclaim it!Dr. Lane is not one to mince words, and frankly, I needed that and will be forever grateful to her for her forthrightness, guidance and expertise!
Cynthia Jones: I learn a lot and they are excellent surgeons. I like that a gym is right there onsite as well. Yes the dr can be firm and come off as rude but they are truly great at what they do and there heart is in the right place.
Steve Spohr: I had an absolutely great experience, Dr Lane and her staff are tough but it's for a good reason there is no changing your mind after the surgery once it is done its done, so they make sure you are physically and mentally ready for the change. They were very helpful before and after the surgery and will continue to be there if you need them. You will get the results you want if you follow the program that they lay out for you. I highly recommend Dr Lane and the Sparrow Bariatric program.

After surgery, I went for my two week post op with Amanda! Then had my follow up with Lindsey two weeks after that. I love the staff! Courtesy and professional. I have my three month follow up with the Doctor January 23. I feel blessed to have had such an amazing experience for a procedure that has changed my life for the better. I had the RNY and was Type 2 Diabetes. Since surgery and getting out of hospital, I have not taken any diabetes medication since! ♥️

Julie Marrison: Even after giving Sparrow complete information about another medical condition I have PRIOR to beginning their program, they failed to truly review my health information before accepting me. After many weeks in the program, I asked the sixth person I had an appointment with, as I had each one before him, "When do I get to meet the surgeons to discuss the surgical protocol for my ...... condition?" This practioner looked at me like I was speaking Martian. I explained that I left a copy of the protocol at my very first appointment over a month ago. He told me that patients don't usually meet the surgeon until right before surgery. I said that would be a heck of a time to find out that they won't do surgery on me. This guy then told me he'd contact the doctors and ask them to look into my case. Two days later every appointment I had scheduled was canceled, all 22 of them, even before I had even been called and told that Sparrow didn't feel confident to do the surgery, that they didn't have the expertise. They suggested the University of Michigan do the surgery. So, that's what I'm doing. THANKS Sparrow! You wasted a LOT of my time.
Kat: Sparrow has a lot of good info when you want to proceed with surgery. However, very few of the staff even look at you, they talk over you instead of trying to understand what you are asking. And if you work with Tobacco do not go to Sparrow at all. I told them from day 1 that I will always have some tobacco from touching it. And they new from my tests i was not smoking. At the last minute they dropped me as a patient. Over tobacco. Lucky me i had been told not to trust them and had already started working with other surgeon. Surgery done now. Barix Clinics Ypsilanti MI. Great staff. No bull.

Elisabeth McConnell: The best location! If you have an opportunity, attend a meeting with BJ or Vicki... All of the leaders are phenomenal, I just have a very special place in my heart for those two!
Beth McConnell: I am in a constant struggle with the scale, but one struggle I don't have is walking thru these doors every Saturday at noon for BJ's team meetings!
Etta Abrahams: The meetings are listed and there are many. The leaders and staff are well-informed and helpful. The people who attend are great. And there are ample products available. Also, the meeting location and the rooms are clean and not some dump in a moldy basement. Cheerful and friendly atmosphere.
