Peoples Yoga Studio Lansing: what do users think?
Cristi Carpenter: I started yin yoga on Sunday nights with Nate and I can't believe how much better I feel! I have a physical job and deal with a lot of pain in my hips, shoulders and back. Just one night a week has helped so much with flexibility and comfort. I also sleep better. Would highly recommend The People's Yoga!
Ali Burck: I had never been to a yoga studio or taken a real yoga class before coming here. I am in no way in shape so I was really nervous but this place is so welcoming! I did the Gentle Aerial Yoga class which was so inclusive and allowed me to try things I didn't think I would be able to do! The instructor (Celine) and other students were so nice and they had all the props I needed there. I will definitely be going back for more of these classes. Highly recommend no matter your size or level of fitness!
Stephanie Edge: Classes:People’s Yoga classes are beneficial, accessible, healthy, and informative. At People’s Yoga, you will find instructors that put a lot of care into their students and their classes. The offerings of classes and options during class at People’s Yoga allow people to find what works for them. They are dedicated to providing classes that improve quality of life and the way you move. This encourages you to embrace variety and choice in many mindful and different ways.200 Training: Peoples Yoga 200 YTT is enlightening, giving a wealth of insight. Misty incorporates many perspectives in which she shares her gifts, empowers others to offer their gifts, and inspires the same in you. This allows you to make what you want of the training and make yoga your own. The experience is informative, emphasizes the strengths of many approaches, and provides depth. Yoga is so vast but the connections throughout the journey allow you to see concepts that are all encompassing and appreciate all of yoga. Misty is an exceptional human to be around with how humble, authentic, and joyful she is. She ensures she keeps this energy apart of her, her studio, and those around her that are involved in the training or are students. Kelly was also a teacher who brought what she had to the training and allowed me to make the most of my practice.
Corrine Higley: I just attended my first class and I loved it! I'll definitely be going back, and Shiloh was an amazing instructor.
Sebastian Gutierrez: This studio is the best! All the instructors I’ve had the pleasure of learning from/working with are very good at making everyone feel welcome and give good instruction. Highly recommend!
Linda Wegener: Peoples yoga is a wonderful place to take yoga no matter what age or what level you are. Misty is a very good teacher; patient, kind , generous and a good sense of humor! The studio is nicely appointed and a pleasant atmosphere. Great place to go!
Ryan Fantino: I felt very comfortable getting back into my yoga practice coming to Peoples Yoga. I've had classes with several of the instructors all of whom provided excellent instruction across the variety of skill levels that are welcome in many of their drop-in classes. It's also in a great location and the studio is super nice.
Greg Whittaker: I just had my first class at People's Yoga, and it was everything I was hoping it would be. A very good experience.
Melissa Powell: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityI just love this studio and all the instructors. I found my tribe and it makes me really happy. Melissa McKimmy is amazing.
Aura Ozburn: Quality care and instruction —— a wonderful yoga studio. There is no wafting patchouli and yesterday’s disturbing dust. The moment you step in, you feel the professional vibe — the studio is beautifully designed and cared for: clean, organized, aesthetic bliss. The instructors are well trained, following the owner, Misty’s leadership. My favorite yoga studio!
Veronica Briseño: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityOutstanding yoga classes. Highly recommend! And the best part is you can join from anywhere thanks to their virtual offerings. So grateful for People’s Yoga!
John Kerr: People’s Yoga is a wonderful place, welcoming to all kinds of learners with all kinds of bodies and abilities. The vibe is always positive and reinforcing. The in-studio classes are wonderful of course, but the online courses are excellent as well.
Amy Norris: Misty is the best. I’ve followed her at other studios throughout my rehabilitation after a horrible accident and I’m so glad she opened Peoples Yoga! She knows the body INCREDIBLY well, and teaches yoga with proper form -which is so important. I never thought I would enjoy yoga, but I love her classes and always feel better after a session.
Nell Kuhnmuench: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityShiloh is phenomenal and the studio is very comfortable and welcoming.
Christine Skoutelas: Love Shiloh!
Erin Gerstler: My mom and I are new to this studio during the Quarentine and are all the way in Florida! We have felt nothing but welcome from Misty and the studio! We are enjoying doing these yoga classes through zoom and love that they are providing that option during this time!
Katlyn Cardoso: This place is life-changing. I found the studio at a tough time in my life and in my practice, and it was just what I needed. The space feels so safe and inviting, and the diversity of classes offered make it truly a studio with something accessible to everyone. The focus is on engaging all parts of yourself to achieve a stronger mind-body-breath connection versus a single-minded prioritization of the physical workout.Every time I step onto my mat at Peoples Yoga, I am reminded of what yoga should be: welcoming, inclusive, fun, and about connection -- with the community of yogis around you and with every piece of yourself. I always leave feeling more balanced in all ways, and inspired to take my yoga practice off my mat and into the way I engage with myself and the world around me.Peoples Yoga is something special. Give yourself the greatest gift and get on your mat.
Ned Curtis: Peoples Yoga Studio provides a great quality of diverse yoga classes/practices. All of the teachers are genuinely caring for you, your body, and your life. My experience as a disabled senior, has been excellent. I have learned the important detail of postures how to modify, and the benefits you can derive from pose. I recommend Peoples Yoga Studio, Misty (owner/lead teacher), and all of the staff and fellow students to you regardless of whether you are a novice, a long-time yogi, or just searching for something. A+ experience!
kim zipple: The teachers do not hurry through poses. The teachers teach you how to do the poses correctly, so that you do not injure yourself. As a Physical Therapist, I highly recommend peoples yoga studio if you want to learn and maintain a high quality yoga practice.
Shiloh Daum: Peoples Yoga is a welcoming space that supports students, as well as teachers. I am so grateful to come in and experience all the details and love that have been put into the studio. There are options for experiencing yoga in different ways, whether you want to have an adaptive yoga class, therapeutic, functional movement, spiritual, flow, or yoga with props. The teachers are treated as collaborators that are able to contribute ideas for making the space special and are paid fairly. The owner of the studio, Misty, works hard to not have yoga philosophy at odds with the business of owning the studio. I admire this so much. The teacher training program gathers all the components that make up yoga and makes them accessible in a nurturing way. This is not a yoga cult type atmosphere with top down leadership. It is a loving community of those who are passionate about yoga and want to share it. There are conversations about how to make yoga accessible to all, aiming for diversity and inclusion. Highly recommend that you try out as many classes on the schedule as you can and see what resonates. Beautiful studio with beautiful intentions. Definitely check it out! Namaste' 3
CJ Kruska: Peoples Yoga Studio is exactly what the name implies: yoga for all people, regardless of age, shape, size, gender or ability. Misty takes time to explain each pose with an emphasis on proper form, not speed. She is brilliant at tailoring poses to each client’s particular needs, and always gives alternate adaptations for each pose. The atmosphere is positive, supportive, calming, and non-competitive. I always leave my Chair Yoga classes feeling stronger, taller, and ready for the rest of my day. And lest you think Chair Yoga is an easy class, let me just say that I am continually challenged by this class; it is not for the faint of heart!

Salt Yoga: what do users think?
Dee Dubose: SALT yoga is an incredible yoga studio for mind, body and soul connection. Last year I moved to the Greater Lansing area and found a home away from home with an incredible instructors and staff. In other word, If you are looking for a cool people and a deeper connection with yourself, SALT yoga is the place for you.
Sara: Took a hot vinyasa class which would have been great if the room wasn't so cramped. They definitely need to downsize class sizes as they had far too many people in an already small space.
Ava Vushaj: Such an amazing studio with the kindest and most whole hearted yoga teachers. 11/10 reccomend.
Liesel Carlson: Toni and her team of incredible teachers are warm, welcoming, knowledgable and inclusive. From slow flow to hot vinyasa the focus is on your own practice, connecting breath and movement and finding your edge. I always leave class with a full heart, feeling more grounded and walking a little taller. Thanks Salt team, you are a true gift!
Mary Hargrove: Toni has the best space to practice in. It is calming, inviting and peaceful. The perfect kind of energy! The Halotherapy classes are my favorite. I have not had a sinus infection since going to them. Love Salt!
Grace Adams: I’ve been going to salt for just under a year now, this place feels like a second home already. All of instructors are so welcoming and inclusive, you can always expect to have an amazing yoga practice at salt.
Joe Hertler: Was introduced to Yoga by some of my music buddies in Nashville about 8 months ago. Shortly after, I decided I needed a spot to frequent in the Lansing / East Lansing area. I made a post on Facebook asking for recommendations, and it was made clear that Salt Yoga in East Lansing was the spot to try. Signed up for the two week trial and have been a member of the studio ever since.Showing up to a Yoga studio as a complete novice is terrifying - and I hope I never fail to empathize with the newcomers who find their way into a Yoga studio for the first time. I've been to well over 40 studio, both in Lansing and across the country, but no place has been more welcoming & accessible than salt. I'm surely a bit biased here, since this was the first studio I clicked with, but Toni, the owner, runs a great business and it shows. It's community driven, but not cliquey in the slightest. There are folks of all skill levels and her core of instructors are some of the best Michigan has to offer (and all are quite varied in their approach to running class). A lot of them have professional health/medical/sports backgrounds; folks that can get down with general wellness practices, but also have a healthy understanding and respect for science. The difficulty has been consistent - I've always felt an appropriate level of challenge. There's no pressure from the instructors to push yourself beyond your capabilities and participant safety is always emphasized. Finding the edge is always encouraged. The heat levels vary from instructor to instructor, but in general I'd say it ranges from about 94-98 degrees. They also offer unheated classes, but c'mon, it's Yoga. You'll learn to love the heat with time! The place is spotlessly clean, has multiple bathrooms, a shower, and you don't have to rent towels. Prices are totally competative (drop ins are $18, compared to $25-30 in most of the bigger cities, but bulk classes and memberships can drop the price down to around $10-13 per class).I could go on, but regardless if you're a nervous first timer making strides towards improving your life, or a seasoned yoga vet, you'll be happy with Salt Yoga.I somehow don't have pictures of me at Salt, but I'll get one and upload it soon!
EL PARAISO STAR A: Very peaceful nice community amazing instructors very decorative!!!!
Emily Lilly-lacca: The VinYin class is one of my favs!
Ross Warber: I had a wonderful first experience at this studio and plan to go back! The instructor lead a powerfully mindful class.I highly recommend this studio!
Brandie Plunkett: For being a beginner , I have found that Taylor and Brittany's candlelight service will make you want to do yoga everyday . Place is always clean and well organized . Classes always start on time and instructor's are there before and after to talk or answer questions . 💞🧘🏼‍♀️🙌
Jason Zelich: I have attended a teacher training with the owner in the past and can tell you she is genuine on the inside and out! Her passion for sharing yoga goes deeper than most and this endeavor for her will only make that more obvious! Toni’s class will get you to experience not only a full range of motion, but also full range of emotion with her music and stories. The perfect blend of strength & flexibility! I especially like all the “salty” talk, hahah.
Debra D.Harmon: Toni Thomas opened this studio in June. It has a family feel to it, which you would expect nothing less from a place created by her. All the instructor’s are great and there are a variety of different yoga options offered. Keeping the sense of what yoga really is, a holistic workout. I have been to a few different studios in the area and the energy at Toni’s is the only one I have been to that has not secularized the yoga practice.
India Heard: I love Salt Yoga. As a teacher here and Student I must say this is a safe space to learn and grow a practice. We have so many class price options that can serve anyone. I am honored to be able to serve the community and practice in this beautiful, welcoming, friendly and loving studio!
Catalina Alfaro: This studio is amazing! I waited patiently for it to open as I was so excited to see the salt wall and experience the benefits of halotherapy. I was not disappointed! Toni is a gem! She created such a beautiful space for the community to practice and I’m grateful for the positive energy she radiates. Thank you Salt Yoga!
Jessica Brown: I absolutely LOVE this studio. I'm newer to yoga as I've done in years past but after going to my first session, I'm hooked. I feel so at peace at the end of each session and have never been able to clear my mind like I can here. The space is clean and welcoming. Toni did an AMAZING job with this studio.
Katie Gallagher: Toni has created a beautiful, peaceful and therapeutic space to practice yoga. I was so excited for SALT Yoga to open and even my high expectations were exceeded!
bwalsh: We moved to EL over a year ago and I’ve been dragging my feet about finding a new yoga studio. I loved the practice in our previous town led by a woman who had been teaching yoga for decades, so was reluctant to start “test driving” studios around town. When I walked into Salt, I immediately felt at home—warm and welcomed. The space is beautiful and conducive to detaching from the busyness of the day. They seem to be building the practice but already offer a nice variety of classes. I deeply appreciate that the instructor was knowledgeable about the philosophy and the practice. This feels like the yoga community I left behind. Namaste.
Tracey Shirley: My experience was very great. Teachers friendly and knowledgeable. The studio clean. Atmosphere is warm and welcoming.
Stacy Fernandez: I have loved Toni’s hot vinyasa classes for years and was so excited to watch her dream unfold with opening Salt!! It is a clean and beautiful space which just adds to the greatness of the classes. I can’t say enough good things!
Morgan Hutson: Beautiful space and instruction! The studio is clean, modern and inviting. I have taken the slow flow and vinyasa class and the flows are inspiring and challenging ...not to mention sweaty! I leave detoxed and refreshed. I love this studio!

Yoga State of Mind, Body & Soul, LLC: what do users think?
Haleigh Herman: I love Yoga State! Every class is different and each teacher has their own style. I love Payton's 7:15pm Hot Vinyasa class to unwind after a long day. Recently I've been enjoying Rachel's 5:45 BUTI class on Sundays too, its super fun and has great music! All the classes are a great workout and escape from everyday life. Yoga State is amazing and I really feel a sense of community when I show up for class.
Kaylynn Hendricks: Yoga State holds a special place in my heart. I started practicing here in 2019 off and on. After the pandemic returning to class here felt safe. Each class I have taken, the teachers have been caring and down to earth. If you talk to them before class they genuinely listen. My favorite classes are Payton’s Wednesday 7pm and Sunday noon classes! Payton has a wonderful voice that is upbeat and positive. This helps so much during class to motivate me and help me get better each time I go!This studio and its teachers meet you where you are. Once you have the flow built you are set free to add in or keep the original flow. Every class I attend I see some improvement and n myself or get into a pose I wasn’t able to before! Highly recommend Yoga State!
Katie Reiman: I ADORE this studio! All of the instructors are amazing but I always make it a point to attend Payton’s classes… couldn’t think of a better place to practice!
Petey G.: Yoga state is becoming a safe place for me. I’m truly enjoying my practice here. I love Payton’s classes! She knows how to push you to your edge with compassion.❤️
Naomi Matsuo: Beautiful place, nice songs and very professional!!! Took payton’s class and i loved it! she makes people realize they’re stronger than they think they are. It’s very intense and, when you’re done, it’s very calm and comforting. Will definitely come back!
Alice Matsuo: I came from Brazil and took payton's and Jen's class! I loved It! They're both great teachers, i'll definetly come back when i can!
Allison Supanich-Goldner: I’m sure the practice overall is wonderful, but had a traumatic experience - the instructor, Peyton I believe their name was, refused to allow two different participants to step into the hall to refill water or take a break, and highly discouraged taking a break to rest. Said that the participants in downward dog were “suffering” and that until every member of the room held the position for 3 breaths no one could stop.Overcrowded the room, 52 people in one session, mat to mat, and started the class 15 minutes late due to more people arriving.Music was loud and hype, not very relaxing or yoga like. Felt more like a boot camp than a yoga class, due to the pressure to continue participating even when pain or dizziness was the problem. Told a participant that they had three breaths to get back in.Overall loved the ambiance of the lobby but would not recommend taking classes with this instructor
Sophie Larochelle: This place is fantastic!!!!!! I was blown away by the tranquil and welcoming atmosphere of this yoga studio, which is truly stunning. Each instructor is very knowledgeable and attentive, making sure to give each student individual attention. There is something for everyone in the classes, which cover a wide range of styles and levels. The studio itself is neat and well-kept, and it has a warm and welcoming atmosphere. I always feel rejuvenated and reenergized after each class. In general, this yoga studio is an excellent choice for anyone seeking a high-quality yoga experience. It has transformed my life, and I've been coming here for a whole year! The classes at Yoga Stare are, without a doubt, the most challenging I've ever taken in a studio, but they're also the most fun and interesting, not to mention also the most beneficial I’ve taken. The challenge is what keeps me coming back because they have shown me how resilient and strong I am. It also smells awesome in here!!!!! And doing all of the hot yoga makes your skin glow I think, I actually think that this place turns you into a super model and a super hero at the same time… just sayin
Grace Weatherbee: Yoga State is the most unique, authentic, and FUN studio in the area! I was fortunate to come across this studio in 2018. I was trying out all of the local studios to find where I wanted to take a teacher training program. After just one of Jen’s classes, I knew I wanted to learn from her, and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. The community at Yoga State is welcoming and positive, and I am so grateful for an amazing group of teachers that inspire me, and everyone who takes class, to become the best versions of ourselves. The classes at Yoga Stare are definitely the most challenging I have experienced in a studio setting before, and at the same time they are the most fun and interesting. They have taught me how resilient and strong I am, and the challenge is what keeps me coming back. I also love the slow flows and yin classes that are offered that really help to round out my own personal practice. If you are looking for a yoga studio with a quirky, unique vibe, a fun and knowledgeable group of teachers, and challenging, creative classes this is the place for you!
Rachel Campbell: When I first started yoga, I was not really a fan. I found it too boring and repetitive. I really wanted to like it because of all the benefits, so I kept trying different yoga studios. Then I found Yoga State and I immediately knew this would be my forever yoga home! It was like no other studio. The flows were so fun and every class is different so you are not stuck in a repetitive routine. The teachers create a safe environment for their students to prevent any injury. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced yogi, you will definitely be challenged which is what we need in order to grow. Changes don’t happen in your comfort zone. I would give Yoga State 10/10 hands down!
Bry Powers: I've been to other studios in the area and Yoga State is the one I landed at. The teachers focus on guiding you with their voices, rather than their bodies, which allows them to attentively observe their students and individualize their cues. The teachers guide the classes with a loving firmness that holds you accountable to putting in your best effort so you get the most benefit from each class. This is something that really sets this studio apart. Whether you are a new or experienced yoga student, you will find classes that challenge you here, which is a good thing, because that is what allows you to grow ❤️
Cami Thomet: Yoga state is the best place to practice yoga. The vibes of the studio are exceptional. I couldn’t recommend coming in for a class more. Every teacher has their own style, so every class is different and a lot of fun! The music is always so good and fun to flow to. The classes are challenging in the best way, and you’re really held accountable which we all need from time to time. Every time I leave the studio, I leave feeling better than I arrived.
Sarah Suddarth: I was highly disappointed and distressed during the 7:15 hot Vinyasa class this evening. There were a number of factors that contributed to a very negative experience but most notably that the instructor physically blocked a participant from leaving during class and argued with her until she chose to return to her place and stretch for the remainder of the class. That is highly unethical and potentially traumatic. I was also considering leaving because I have auditory sensitivity and the music was so loud it was literally painful. However, after I saw her physically blocking the other participant I chose to endure until the end. I unfortunately can't see myself going back; the space is gorgeous.
Jaye Elsey: Really enjoyable time practicing here. Did the teacher training and learned a lot, super cool experience 10/10 would recommend :)
Jivana Esposito: Obsessed with this place. Vibes are exceptional. Staff is so wonderful— it’s such a beautiful place to deepen your yoga practice.
Payton Howard: This is a great place to begin your yoga journey! I took my first class in 2017 and it was definitely challenging, but that's what drove me to come back. Each time I was able to do a little more and enjoy it more! I learned so much about yoga philosophy and the physical side of things just from attending classes! The growth in myself that I observed was amazing! I went through the 200 hour teacher training program here in 2019 and I can't even possibly express how grateful I am that I happened upon this studio. I have taken at all of the other studios in town over the years and nothing compares to the care and compassion that the teachers at Yoga State have for their students! Thank you Yoga State!!Don't be afraid of the challenge!! Everything in life that is good should make you uncomfortable! If you feel that uncomfortable feeling, you know that change is coming and in this safe environment that has been created, the only outcome is something so amazing!!I recommend taking from Jen if you want to get really real with yourself and what you can accomplish!!! You will grow so much so fast!
Brittany T: Yoga State is like a second home to me! I’m so happy to have wandered into this studio 4 years ago. It is a warm, welcoming atmosphere and the classes challenge you in the best possible way. Flows are fun, unique, and give space for creative expression (which I love as a former dancer/gymnast). The teacher training program here is an amazing experience! I couldn’t imagine taking this training from anyone but Jen. She’s simply the best at what she does. I’ve met such awesome people through this and have not only seen its benefit in my practice but in my daily life also.
Patricia Holman: YS is amazing studio to practice yoga at all levels. The instructors are are very welcoming and helpful. I took the 200 hour Teacher Training with Jen and not only has that changed my practice but changed my life! I am now teaching and absolutely love sharing my passion for yoga - I have learned that you don’t have to be in your 20’s and flexible to practice - anyone can practice yoga. (Btw I am 62 and started a few years ago)! Love love love this studio in East Lansing across from MSU!
Ryan Vartoogian: This is different from other yoga studios in good ways. It's a very relaxed atmosphere. The classes are set in dimly lit rooms with modern music that's paced to the yoga making it motivational and entertaining. All the instructors are extremely knowledgeable and make the classes really impactful. This is a great place to learn yoga. Hot Yoga is available here along with many other yoga classes. They also offer good advice on the best yoga mats. If you've taken yoga other places, just at home or it's your first time yoga state hot yoga is a great place to check out. They have two locations, one in East Lansing and in Okemos.
J K: Facilities are absolutely gorgeous and they have a large variety and expansive class schedule. I like that there are plenty of affordable drop in options. If you are looking for quality instruction, or are newer to yoga, I would not go here. The instructors don’t correct poor form, music is so loud and it’s dark in the room which makes it difficult to follow what they are instructing, and the classes are so packed that the instructor doesn’t have room to demonstrate.I did attend one session where the instructor briefly massaged everyone’s face at the end when our eyes were closed. I didn’t mind so much, but she did not ask anyone for permission to touch them. And it was a bit gross (unsanitary) to have her touch your face after touching other faces especially when it’s hot yoga.
Erica Goonen: I highly recommend Yoga State of Mind Body and Soul. This studio will always hold a special place in my heart. I originally started taking yoga classes at the studio back in late 2015 I later took Jen Hayes' 200 hr yoga teacher training in 2017. Can I say AMAZING! I could go on and on about that. I later became a Yoga Instructor and Spin Instructor for the studio and even held a marketing internship which was mandatory for my degree at Michigan State University. All I can say is Yoga State of Mind Body and Soul impacted me in wonderful ways. I met friends, felt part of the community, was taught life skills. All the teachers have their own spin on their class which is what helps make the studio so unique. Oh did I mention? TWO locations! This is great for those who might not be located right next to campus. All I can say is this studio is highly recommended. There is a large class selection, great teachers, wonderful customer service, its the whole package! I also suggest getting to know the owner Jen, she is phenomenal!

Just B Yoga: what do users think?
Kara Grace: My absolute favorite yoga studio, and one of my favorite places in general. The setting is open and inviting and I love that there are always mats, blocks, and straps to spare in case you forgot yours or don't have one. This studio is the definition of inclusive, from donation based classes to a variety of different kinds of classes for all kinds of folks including trauma informed yoga. It is a safe space for yogis of all flavor, and B is incredible in sharing not only the physical, but the spiritual and mental aspects of yoga practice during class. I always feel lighter, more joyful, and more present after classes. Thanks B!!
Taylor B: For being called "Just B" yoga, me and my friend hard a time just being ourselves here, which was really dissapointing.. we had to park on a side street and as soon as we got out of our we got harrassed by some guy on his porch (totally unrelated to the studio but still was a very unpleasant way to start of my day. we arrived ten minutes early because it said to onine but the instructor made it very clear that we were interrupting.. the instructor/owner seemed very hostile and when i mentioned i love balancing my chakras with crystals she made me seem stupid and acted like she had never heard of such a thing.. she seemed to be very nice and pleasant to other people there but me and my friend.. after the class was over i noticed there was a wall of names that if you donated you were put on. I went up to her and said i really enjoyed the class and i'd love to donate and she just stuck her hand out for the money.. no thank you.. no please come back..this experince was VERY dissapointing... probably why they only had three other people there.. but i would recommend EL Hot Yoga for anyone who would like a warm welcoming enviroment!!
Yvonne LeFave: It's January: that time of year when folks think about goals and resolutions. Doing so reminded me of this great place -- the ONLY donation-based studio in Michigan, last I heard. Not only will you find attentive instructors here, you'll also find an emphasis on sangha (community) -- ALL of it, from LGBTQ and allies yoga classes, trauma-informed yoginis, and even classes designed to include folks with more curves and those over 40. If you haven't checked them out, maybe this time of year will get you through the door, too?
Miranda M. Ward: This seems like an excellent place to practice for average health based individuals. However, it does not feel like an appropriate placeto practice if you are new to yoga or wish to choose your own level of participation. I attended a class recently and the instructor called my friend by name multiple times in front of the whole class in order to correct his asanas. It was his first yoga class ever and he desired to very lightly participate. She did not offer different asanas for him to choose from, despite informing her that he had a knee replacement and him stating to her that he was not comfortable with certain posturing. She would not respond to this and would tell him that he could physically do something and would wait by his mat until he tried. It felt that she did not trust what he knew about his own body. She was also very annoyed when we asked for no further assistance and in frustration she stated, " just do what you want", and walked away. I teach yoga myself and was attending for moral support for my friend to help him find a studio he liked in the area- but was trying not to interfere with her teaching. I felt multiple times that I had to speak up to create emotional safety for my friend as the instructor seemed focused on him. He said he felt completely turned off to group classes at all due to his experience here and is apprehensive about attending any group yoga classes again.
elige stewart: My yoga home! Skillful, accessible classes led by an amazing and wonderful instructor! Thank you for being such an amazing and wonderful part of the community!
Dave Runyon: I began my yoga journey here. "B" is awesome, a truly gifted and understanding yoga teacher. Go to a class and begin your journey too!
Eben Gering: A lovely space with a very welcoming and effective instructor. The class was also excellent -classes are conducted in an upbeat, encouraging way that is both enjoyable and helpful to students of all ages and abilities. I look forward to the next one!And I have never encountered a yoga studio that is so generous with public service. Just b offers a wide spectrum of activities for groups you might not see in bigger studios (youth, larger-bodied people, LGBTQ, trauma victims, etc.). It seems almost magical to me that taking affordable, fun, and rejuvenating yoga classes also helps Just b continue this important work.
Kimberly Mack: So grateful for this space in the community. Belinda fosters a wonderful atmosphere for individuals to come as they are to ground and to grow. Looking forward to participating in many more classes here :)
David Torley: Some studios challenge you physically, some challenge you mentally, and some develop a fun and inviting atmosphere. Just B is the only studio I've found that does all three with a comforting ease. Wonderful people and wonderful place to be.
Brian Bridson: A beautiful studio performing an important service for the Lansing community. Classes for all levels are donation-based. Excellent and caring instructors with experience teaching beginner to advanced. Highly recommended!

East Lansing Hot Yoga: what do users think?
Sylvia Ray: I absolutely LOVE this yoga studio! Yoga has helped my body in so many ways, and I love all the instructors, but my favorite is Mike.
Sara: I normally go to Kick Your Asana when Mike is teaching and it's an amazing workout- you always leave dripping in sweat! However, there was a sub today and against my better judgement I went. Never again. The music was awful, room wasn't hot, and he offered no intensity. I never broke a sweat. If you can't find a sub that can offer the same intensity the class promises- you would be better off just canceling it.
Emily Kozan: Great for physical and mental health. Very kind and cool people.
Milos Милош Sretenovic: Awesome instructors. Awesome classes. This is the best yoga in town.
Kristen Walcott: Great location, set up, and instructors
Gracie Baker: ELHY is a total gem. Before a few weeks ago, I've never taken a yoga class. One day I signed up for a class here on a whim and instantly feel in love. The classes are challenging yet rewarding, and the instructors always do a great job creating an inviting and accepting space for all. Totally recommend!
Jim Dogman: I could go on about how much I love this yoga studio and the people I meet there. The owner gives the best deals in town, and offers the best variety of classes. At this studio I noticed that there are classes available even on holidays, which worked very well for me. This yoga studio gets hot. You won’t be disappointed about this studio being too cold. I am very grateful this yoga studio is available.
Suzy Gadd: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityEveryone is so kind, both staff and other yoga students!! I instantly felt comfortable and am so happy I found it :)
Jessica Fang: One star off because the entrance smells pretty awful, but I guess with all the sweaty bodies that's bound to happen.
Raphaela Schlicht: I miss it so much. I wish you could open a branch in the Frankfurt/Germany area. I have not found anything even similar over here. You are the most wonderful feel-good yoga place!
A H: I liked my experience when I went here, I do agree with other reviews on the lack of regular sanitary care. Other than that, class is great. The temperature is considerably lower compared to other hot yoga places I have been to.
Nate Strauss: This studio is not only always clean with friendly people at the front desk, but it provides such an amazing and important service to this community. I couldn’t recommend this studio or its teachers more. If you want to start practicing yoga, check out a candlelight slow burn or a warming up to yoga class!
Sarah Farris: This is a great yoga studio. Many different types of classes at various times. The instructors are all very kind and supportive. Some are more intense, some more "fun" but all are down-to-earth and always help you leave feeling better than when you walked in. The classes are especially great for vinyasa flow style. I appreciate that it caters to all ages, abilities, races, genders, etc. Plus, free classes every Saturday, heyo!
Thomas Anton: Great studio. I love it!
Val M.: I love hot yoga and how good you feel after. I have been attending on and off for a couple years now. The instructors are always friendly, from my experience. The one thing I do not like about the studio in East Lansing is, it smells like dirty feet, especially in the back room (near the bathrooms/changing area). It definitely needs a deep cleaning just to remove that smell. The smell has gotten worst these last couple years. Also, when some classes are so full, that makes it hard to have a relaxing practice. There have been times, where the person next to me is dripping sweat on me, and that is disgusting because you can get ring worm from other people along with other bacteria. I would suggest not making classes so full, to the point of where people are dripping sweat onto each other, that is very uncomfortable and unhygienic. I have had to leave early a couple times due to other people dripping sweat on me, it's actually very disgusting.
David Simpson: Went there a few times and some people in the class just smell so bad. I actually watched 2 guys up and leave at the start of the class. I think its rude that the studio lets people practice that would cause this issue. Also the floor in the room is bubbling up and has gaps missing that when you are trying to do a pose you can lose balance. This location needs a deep clean. The instructors are really nice. The HIIT classes are a phenomenal work out and you reap the rewards but they are intense.
Dave Runyon: Most awesome place to have a yoga practice. It really is a family.
Isabel Garcia: I found the floor (which was all lined with rubber material) to be dirty, and the place was extremely cluttered. Instructors asked people to scoot in even closer to where people's matts were 2 inches apart. Didn't have enough room to stretch appropriately for certain movements and the music the instructor played was heavy on lyrics. The instructor was okay, nothing great and not the friendliest either. Not relaxing at all. I've never been to a yoga studio that puts on music with lyrics such as John Mayer. It was very difficult to clear my mind.Lasting impression was the lack of cleanliness. Everything sticks to rubber. Especially with hot yoga.. I'm allergic to cats and I somehow had cat hair on me by the end of the session.
Bek Ho: I read a post that said this studio is a body shaming studio. I can't tell you how wrong they are, this studio was the only one in the area that I felt comfortable going to at my heaviest which was 330 lbs! The instructors treated me like I belonged which is more than I can say for a lot of studios. They became a huge part of my weight loss journey.
pamela Pamela: I tried this studio for a week, taking 5 classes all with different teachers. I kept giving it the opportunity to change my mind and allow me to experience yoga as I had so many times before in the number of different studios I have visited in my travels. One of the most striking things about the studio that seemed non-yogic was how cluttered the entrance, check in area was, followed by the curtains into the studio. How can I clear my mind when the area around me is cluttered??The teachers never left their mat to check the student’s alignment or offer assistance in getting deeper into a pose. I feel that if I had not familiar with my own practice I could have injured myself because there was only encouragement to achieve a pose instead of listening to what you needed at that time.My heart rate increased and I got a good sweat on, and in one class I was introduced to a really enjoyable breathing technique but I never felt like I had "arrived". I was being taught a routine instead of being guided through my practice.
John Taylor: I don't know what to say about this place, the quality of the class can very WILDLY depending on the instructor. I guess the most accurate assessment I can offer is the following:The Good: If your a student looking to chisel that spring break bottom you have for a business that will provide that for you.The Bad: If your a serious yoga practitioner then I would look someplace else. You will do something in the class, but its certainly isn't yoga, its more like hot aerobics. The Ugly (pun): this place is A LOT about looking good so if your new to yoga for feel a bit self conscious about your body your going to stand out like sour thumb.
