Tracy Thompson: I called numerous designers in the area, but when I got to the Designhaus I actually got a call from the owner telling us how his firm can deliver, deliver on time and on budget. That he has a staff of very qualified employees to take this from beginning to the end. Well that is far from the truth. After that initial call to get us to pick his firm, he hides from any issues his staff have created. From the lack of attention, no call backs, no returned emails until you have to get the owner involved. Went under contract to have Designhaus design our lake house. They knew the budget, we were clear on everything. So clear it was discussed every call, email or meeting. We were NEVER told that we were more than 10% over if at all. Always told real close to budget. Even when we would have face to face meeting at their office. When the design was sent out for bids, all 3 bids came back $280,000.00 to $300,000.00 over our budget. Then it was if we did not exist-no communication again until I had to leave the owner a voice mail, again. It was as if they did not know what to do. Never did the owner call back to see what the issues were. Finally our designer suggested some cut backs on the design-WHY you said all along that we were right on budget. They easily over the course of 1.5 years took our $18,000.00 for design and engineered septic tank designs. Just 2 weeks ago I got an invoice from them for "building permits", you can't get a building permit until you get a septic permit, which I just got last week. I would give them negative star rating if I could. Do not use this firm for your design, they are a rip off and do not deliver what is agreed on. Worst experience in my 58 years of life. Run far, run fast-DO NOT USE this firm. I now have a piece of land that I will have to pay another designer to design a home that we can afford. This company and the owner are terrible. Kiss $18,000 good bye.
