Jewels Jewelz: 50 minutes after my appointment. I finally received my birth certificate, even though the name was spelled incorrectly and the clerk just brushed it off. Multiple people with appointments after mine left before me. The man said it depends on who is pulling my records. This place is incompetent. It should go by the time of your appointment not because your paperwork was given to a lazy person. The lady I walked in with, and had the same appointment time, left 40 minutes before I did. SMH. Also I wanted a duplicate but she said she couldn’t fix the name she spelled wrong so I only received 1 copy. Terrible

On VitalChek theres an option to have The State Of Michigan search your birth certificate and they will ask your ID upload first, approve it in 2 days, then ship your birth certificate in 5 days or less plus the overnight UPS from Lansing.Stay far away from detroit city workers, theyre incredibily lazy and rude.

I was told to use vital check from the city of Detroit birth records so I did and then for over 4 months I’ve been waiting so vital check began to call me because it’s been over 75 days, the city of Detroit are not responding to them, after 3 failed attempts. I seen a refund in my account, so if u in a hurry good luck. U need birth certificates for passports, and until now I can’t travel anywhere.

Tenisha: If anyone decides to order their birth certificate online please know it may take over 6 - 9 months to receive it in the mail. Ordered early February, still waiting. The state of Michigan and the city of Detroit contracted out to a company called Vitalchec. They are not accredited by the Better Business Bureaus and currently have 518 unresolved complaints. Customers are provides an order number and pin to check the status of their orders, which has an expiration date that is conveniently the same time as when your supposed to receive the order. They don’t tell you that part!

Ellie: Avoid at all cost! Such a waste of time.Dealt with the 2 rudest government employees I’ve ever come across. Both women provided me with false information so they wouldn’t have to do their job to mail out a form I needed that isn’t available online. I’ve had to go through this process with other county offices and never had an issue. Ended up just calling a different county and requesting the form, and had no issue

D Jordan: Go online and order your birth certificate from VITALCHEK and get it from THE STATE OF MICHIGAN. DO NOT ORDER FROM THE CITY OF DETROIT. They are slow , they don't care will process your order in a minimum of 120 days. If you're depending on them you will loose every single time. These ppl DONT CARE ABOUT YOU OR YOUR SITUATION. Be proactive and go another route and save yourself the stress. Don't set appointments either they are booked until damn near August.

The lady told me it's by appointment only but how the heck do they expect you to make an appointment if nobody answers the phone??? I called days ago and left a voice-mail and called again today and yet again still no answer. I called back to back and at one point it stopped ringing so I know someone's there that can answer the phone. Smh LAZY

Zalika Kelly: They have two different numbers for their Call Center no one answers either so it’s close to impossible for you to set an appointment to get a birth certificate. I’m not sure what’s being done but they’re not working.

Matthew Thomas: I ordered several copies of my birth certificate from this company. They never delivered. There is no way to contact them to inquire about the status of your order. I had to raise a dispute with my credit card company. Hopefully I will get a refund.

Monica Kloc: Rude staff on the phones, I sent via mail for a BC and never received it so I called to inquire about it. I received a call back from one individual who was kind and pleasant, but there was one person who was incredibly rude and didnt appear to want to help me and acted as though it was my fault I didnt receive the birth certificate (turns out they never recieved my form and usps lost it ). They didnt even say goodbye, they just abruptly hung up when I said thank you ... if you hate your job please quit and do something else, you work for the public...

Moved before elections and did not inform public until you drive to old city clerk office.With note on door, WE MOVED. I’m disabled so I had to walk back to car find 203 S Troy st. Me and other people was confused all entrances was closed.You had to walk around back door.Why did they moved and did not updated in google.Everybody I ran into was confused and why we were sent to old address first. This is wrong and unprofessional.

Chantal Grumski: I ordered my newborn sons birth certificate from their online portal, and selected for it to be delivered via usps. I never received it. I called the city clerk and at first they said there was nothing they could do and to go to usps. USPS said it should've been sent with a tracking number, especially if it was a BC. I had to call a few times and the clerks office did end up letting me know I could come in to get another one. It was hard for me because I have a newborn and my husband travels, but I went in today to get it and they had it waiting for me. I do appreciate the quick service and that once I called a few times with this issue they waived the charge for me to have to pay a 2nd time. I gave 3 stars for the hassle but for the quick service when I came in and the gentleman knew my name and had my BCs ready!
