Steve Nielsen: I bought carpet through Home Depot and AIS is their installer company. The Grayling Mi office installed the floor carpet fine but did not have the carpet for the vertical bar surface. It took 7 months to finish the job. They lost the carpet then lied about that. I had to contact their main office in Sterling Heights and it still took a month to finish.

Christina: We purchased carpet and installation from Home Depot. The carpet itself is great quality; however, the installers not only ruined our day, but also a lot of a newly renovated home. We also paid extra for 2 beds to be dismantled and put back together. The in home estimate confirmed this was no issue, the beds are not at all that complex. We are just not that handy, have an autistic child that requires a lot of my attention, and chose to pay extra to have it done. When they arrived, they looked at the bed and told us they weren’t doing it. Just rudely, flat out said they didn’t care that we paid for it, they weren’t doing it. My simple platform bed was an issue for them apparently as well, as they were extremely rude about that as well. I had to leave and get tools to take the bed apart myself. When they were finished, they left the house completely trashed, debris everywhere and even left their drinks on top of all of our furniture. We had actual drywall damage to our walls, which were just freshly painted throughout. The new paint job was ruined, with several areas throughout having cracked baseboards, chipped walls with actual drywall and wood on the baseboards flaking off, and pretty severe damage in other rooms. Not only that, but their hands were filthy and they left black and brown handprints all over everything they touched, including mattresses, beds, walls, doors and closets. Much of the house will need to have drywall repair, baseboard repair and need to be repainted. There was absolutely no reason for them to be so sloppy and reckless. We had everything moved, and all they had to do was dismantle the beds and put them back together, which was a service we paid for. The baseboards, walls, doors and closets were pristine when they arrived, newly painted with no damage. There’s so much damage throughout, we have no idea what we are going to do. So much money was taken out of equity to do these much needed home repairs only to have it ruined by rude, reckless, sloppy and horribly unprofessional installers. Home Depot should reconsider using them as a partner, this was the worst experience we have ever had.

Lindsay Boeckl: Home Depot outsourced our fencing project to AIS and at first we were thrilled with how kind the entire staff was. They were timely and pleasant in coming to schedule a quote, fast on the timeline to instal, and the price was about what we expected as well as a few hundred dollars less than we were quoted elsewhere. Looking back, we should have been more concerned that the quote was hand written on a blank piece of paper and we were asked to "just take a picture." Then, when our digital quote came, there were "just a few things" that they forgot to mention in our original quote, still there was great communication and customer service, so we looked past it. We did become frustrated when the revised quote came with another state's sales tax, which was more than double ours. After all of that was resolved and instal day came, I cannot emphasize how great of a job that team did. However, it was communicated to us that an issue we brought up during quoting that we were assured was not going to be an issues, shocker, was indeed, an issue. There was zero discussion of any additional fees, just a modification of the fencing plan. It wasn't until the instal was complete that we were handed a change order for a significant amount of money, that would have certainly priced them out of their competitors if they had just been honest from the beginning. What followed was a series of asinine tactics to try to get us to pay for the change order that we did not agree to, including a series of certified letters from AIS. Home Depot refused to pay the difference, and AIS refused to pay for their mistake. So, this has ended with the receipt of debt collections notice. If we ever get wind that AIS is involved in a potential future project, we will be running in the opposite direction. We are a young family that spent money trying to make our backyard safe for our kid and not only do we feel incredibly taken advantage of from the jump, but now our credit score is affected to boot. 0/10 would not recommend.
