Shelby Daiek: unfortunately this funeral home will only get 2 stars from me. due to the lack of organization with my boyfriends dad’s burial. the vault that they ordered was not at the cemetery before we got there-that’s a different issue i have with the cemetery. the woman who had been helping my boyfriends family in this terrible time-she was amazing and helpful- called the home and they had not given any information on the vault. the funeral director is an amazing woman. she is the only thing validating the whole thing

A Siva: I walked through through their doors in shock and extremely tired.Huge miscommunication at the beginning around father's cremation...If I wouldn't have shown up there because I sensed something was off, who knows what would of happened. I was completely blind-sided and then felt dismissed by one of the funeral staff instead of figuring out what actually happened. It made for a very stressful week! They do not know how to hold space for those who are grieving.Thank God the day of the service was good...I waited until after service to email manager/owner. I know email was received, yet NO response.Go elsewhere.

Dean Johnson: Anyone reading this review has or may soon lose a loved one. Jeff (E J Mandziuk & Son) has my highest recommendation. My father passed away in Florida, and I live in Mississippi. He was from Detroit, so we decided to lay him to rest near other family members. Knowing my father would pass soon, I first touched base with Jeff and he provided costs for removal, embalming, transportation, etc. The next day my father passed, I contacted Jeff (in the wee hours of the morning) and he went into motion and started taking care of things. That was the start of his assistance. He worked with me to save money on the casket, vault and other expenses. He even assisted in securing someone to perform the service since neither my father nor siblings reside in the area. Overall, he made a stressful and emotional event easier. Jeff was professional and respectful of my father’s passing. My family is grateful.

Mike Cionka: Don't bother dealing with this place with the a-hole funeral director. I called him the other day to ask him about my dad's social security death benefit. I was polite and respectful on the entire call. His response to one of my questions, in a raised voice was, "Your dad is dead." Way to be respectful towards my father. A-hole.

The experiences had always been as pleasant as possible considering someone had passed away.My Mom lost her battle with COVID two weeks ago. When deciding which funeral home to have her laid out at, it was a no-brainer.From the initial call to the Funeral Director, Lisa, it was obvious we made the right choice. Lisa is extremely compassionate, friendly and will do whatever it takes to make the day easier to navigate.The funeral home closes at 9:00 p.m., but there were a few of us that stayed until about 9:40. The staff never interrupted us and we were grateful for the extra time. The team staying an extra 40 minutes on a Friday night was certainly appreciated.Between Lisa being an incredibly awesome Director, the staff doing whatever we needed throughout the day, having the flowers and cards well organized for pick-up the following day, I’d recommend reaching out to Lisa and the team at Wujek-Calcaterra if/when you’re ever unfortunate to lose a loved one. For those who have lost a loved one, planning a funeral can be a little overwhelming as there is so much that needs to happen in such a short period of time. Our father was cremated and they had an option to have a small viewing beforehand which was very nice. That was one of the big things that made us choose Desmond, as some other funeral homes did not have that option for cremation (or at least did not let us know about it).Everything was communicated and executed very well, which helped reduce stress during a difficult time. It was very nice to know that Michelle and everyone else at Desmond knew exactly what we wanted and kept us informed.FYI, they have an economical cremation option where you can fill out everything online and do most of the work yourself, if that is something you want. I mention it, because Desmond was the only funeral home that we dealt with that had this.

They Refused to allow a flagged road procession and blamed it on poor road conditions yet the hertz driver went 55 mph in a 45 mph? cannot believe how hypocritical that is. Shame on you!!! Dan Nichols: WOW !! Really, let's all be honest about it. Laying a loved one to rest isn't inexpensive. To me though value matters as it relates to price. And A.J. Desmond & Sons absolutely provided value at each and every turn no matter the size of the need, they solved for it. They NEVER tried to redirect me or pawn the duty off on "someone" else. Every individual we dealt with felt nearly identical to their co-worker. Their brand, how they felt to work with, was fluid. Initially I figured we'd have a point person that held our hand through each phase but that's not how it worked. The others seamlessly picked up where the other one left off in handling our needs at any hour of the day. I was candidly dumbfounded at the consistency as I coach on company interpersonal dynamics and speak of hitting an ideal which is tied firstly to the company leader's values but then those values MUST be the values the employees hold. AND I felt like I was dealing with one person the entire time. They've hit the gold standard. They are an immense value. One of their people even sat down (no need to mention a name as they are all the same in an amazing way) with my wife who was getting the runaround from the cemetery on pricing and charges and found thousands of dollars in bogus charges gramps had already paid for years prior. I'll update with that cemetery name in a few weeks after we are done with the entire process. Anyway, a perfect experience. Thank you A.J. Desmond and staff.Updated: I said I’d name the cemetery Desmond’s saved us from getting ripped off at. Roseland Park is the cemetery Gramps and grandma had prepaid plots in. Roseland Park runs a scammy operation and they take advantage of people in their time of need.
