They were very informative, kept me up to date on my parts ordered. The tech (Dustin) was very informative about what he was doing and got my fireplace up and running again. Not knowing there were so many options available, the Fireside Sales teams at the Macomb Fireside H&H location listened to our wants and needs and took the time to make sure we understood all the options before us. The owner/manager was not the least bit interested in me and when I asked if he was interested in dealing with me he said "oh I'm sorry, I've had an incident with an employee and it's set me off." Then he kept touching me on the arm. and saying things like "it' all right, I'm sorry." I had to ask the questions, ask for spec sheets and not once did he ask for my email or phone. Lost a sale and my respect.

I’m spending over 5k on a nice gas fireplace elsewhere purely because of horrible salesmanship.
Ashley A: I ended up here after a very terrible experience with another company who sold me a faulty gas log set and made it pretty much impossible to replace without incurring a huge additional cost. John helped me choose a perfect new log set within five minutes and even set me up with Ken, who was a fantastic installer. Almost a year later, my fireplace remote stopped working (and I've since been told they are very fragile and could have been just lightly dropped) and I called John, the owner, who told me to come to the store, checked out my remote and replaced it free of charge, no questions asked. I have been very impressed by this locally-owned business and its honest and helpful owner, and I have eagerly sent many friends his way for their fireplaces.

E. W.: I had my older style gas fireplace serviced and turned on. Tim was very professional, knowledgeable, and gave attention to detail. Reasonably priced. I also appreciated the punctuality and friendly appointment reminder calls. I now feel safe using my fireplace and am very pleased. I would definitely recommend and use this company again!

Richard Evans: Changing to 2 stars. Originally, Tim came out and did a fantastic job getting my fireplace working. He had all parts on his truck, except he did not have enough gasket for the glass door, and had to order. I was told at time of service that this gasket was relatively cheap, approx $40, in addition to the $370 I was paying to have the fireplace repaired. When the gasket came in, I was called told it would be $200+ to come back out to install the gasket. They wanted to charge a 2nd trip fee of $155 due to them not having enough gasket on the truck at the the first visit. Currently, I am still unable to use my fireplace until this gasket has been replaced, and if the fireplace is turned on, it will leak carbon monoxide fumes into my home, which can be deadly. This is how Flametech left my fireplace. Working, but with the possibility of the fumes killing us. I refuse to pay over $200 for a 2nd trip fee just to have this gasket installed, which should have been replaced on the first visit. This is just unacceptable, and extremely disappointing after having a good experience on the first visit.

John Locke: Flametech repaired my NG fireplace recently. The service guy, Tim, was very professional. He explained what was wrong and fixed it on the spot. He was careful not to damage anything and by the time he left the fireplace was good as new. Flametech was booked solid a few months out when I made the appointment but it was worth the wait. Flametech was by far one of if not the best experiences we've had with a company in 13 years of home ownership. From the initial call for a quote to scheduling to the actual installation service was top notch. Tim was 100% willing to spend anytime necessary to help us learn our new fireplace. Hardly necessary because it's so user friendly. I would highly recommend this Flametech to any looking for any service they provide. Very thankful they were recommended to us.

Michael Christie: Hi, I just called and asked for a fireplace and was told they only do gas logs. So I guess I’ll have to buy a fireplace from someone else. Seems silly to be named fireplace and bbq and then not have the insert needed to perform as a fireplace.
Steve Glauberman: They do good work but they are ridiculously overpriced. They charge a flat rate to fix my gas fireplace (~$365) which had a pilot light problem plus a zone charge (~$65) since I’m in Ann Arbor. While they did tell me this up front, and I agreed, I felt totally taken advantage of when the service person fixed my problem in 5 minutes by tightening a screw all for the low price of $430. I’m going to have to find someone else moving forward.

Axel and Carrie Brodermann: We actually had 3 different quotes for fireplaces and went with American because the gas line installer was incredibly experienced and professional. Unfortunately since we've had the fireplace put in we've had multiple problems. After the allotted 'burn off' time for the logs to omit a smell we were still having major problems (about 2 weeks after running the fireplace 8 hours a day). We got carbon monoxide detectors because I was worried about the constant smell and almost immediately after installing them they went off! The company sent out someone to clean them off and after it was much better (no carbon monoxide detectors going off). Now we are having problems with our remote and although we are on a manual setting the fireplace is going on after I manually set it to off and vice versa! Maybe we have had an incredibly unlucky experience, but its terrifying having carbon monoxide detectors going off and the fireplace switching on after manually shutting it off. Needless to say I don't feel exactly 'safe' with what has been offered by the company.
