Windermere Equestrian Center, Inc.: what do users think?
Reem Dabish: We have been coming here for over five years for riding lessons. The instructors are the best around and they are building a new structure. I highly recommend.
Jason Putnam: Doing an addition to their place. Check them out it's a beautiful place.
Andy Romano: My girls had a great time with thier Girl Scout troop. Learned a lot.
James Hunter: No call nack
Erica Bretz: My daughter began riding at Windermere through their Pony Pals program when she was 5 and also took private lessons before she had the opportunity to ride a privately owned pony at another barn for a few years. After 3 years, we decided to return to Windermere because of the friendly atmosphere, the large schooling program, the quality of instruction, the opportunity to show, and the ability to participate around the farm and to get to know the staff and clients. This is a real working farm, it’s not “fancy”, yet the horses are well cared for and much loved. The staff work hard every day to make lessons, training, shows, and more happen for their clients. The instructors teach with a mindset of safety first, and that to be a good rider, you must also work on the ground as well as mounted. They will encourage you and give praise when they see progress, help you understand what you’re doing incorrectly, and don’t let students engage in dangerous behavior. We are so happy that we made the decision to return to Windermere over a year ago, and my young rider has made a lot of progress and many friends. She loves going to the barn, and so do her Dad and I. Thank you Jen and the rest of the Windermere team for all your efforts to make equestrian sports fun and safe!
Justin Johnson: Super clean. Everyone is super nice. Would recommend anyone to ride here.
dominic Prantera: Stephenie and jen. Are great. And you to sabrina. Thanks for all your help.
Veronica Todd: I love horses and my trainer is amazing and She is very patient. Thank you so much for the best experience . I came in here because I heard its good therapy. 💯 True. And it helped me in other areas as well. Thank you so much for having me. And will keep training to improve. ❤️
Fiona Rumi: Hi I have never been here before but I want to know if it is a one time place for riding and if so how much is it per person or hour?
Don Torchia: I took my Granddaughter here for lessons and was impressed! Emma was her instructor, she was very attentive and engaged! The grounds are nice, the attitude is friendly and welcoming. Look forward to coming back!!
Izzy Wild: been there for a long time love the people there and it's a great and comfortable environment
Keith victory: My daughter has been going to this place for 3 years . Never had a problem till this year staff was very rude. The instructor who was teaching the girls to ride nice . As for others will just say a helper that probably shouldn’t be with people let alone animals . Wow all I can say . My money will be going for private lessons else where which makes me sad .just Sad like if u don’t like your job don’t work there . This is r money keeping u open . I did get a phone call and I’ll say talking to that lady , very nice . So just hope they cut out all the yuck in there with bad attitudes . Your working with kids . Chill. But thank u for the call back and making me feel better . U guys r great. Thank u 👍🏻
Brandon Davey: The environment is fair. Prices are reasonable, staff are great, if you're taking classes. Definitely a budget friendly place for you and your horse/s.
Lauren B: Windermere is a wonderful place for children and adults to learn how to ride. They make sure you learn everything the correct way and have many staff on hand. Everyone one is very friendly, you don’t have to be afraid to asks questions. I would highly recommend Windermere.
Jessica Ancira: Best place ever
Fred Kraemer: Well organized event!
Sophia Z: I highly recommend this riding center. Great horses, people, and instructors. If you want to further advance in your riding path, this is the place for you! The instructors know how to deal with anything that comes their way from scared people to scared horses! They have many programs open for anyone who wants to get involved in the horse world.
Sprinkles The Cat: I love this equestrian center! Very well organized and have great riding instructors. They have amazing horses. A great place to ride if your a beginner or an advanced rider! A very kind community of equestrians.
maria buchholtz: Both my daughters ride here! This is their happy place. They look forward to their lessons every week. They love the instructors and all their barn friends, both two-legged and 4-legged variety.
grace heuer: This place looks amazing and me and my family r planing to go there and I might start lessons even I’m 10

Justamere Equestrian Centre: what do users think?
dan: This place is great! My daughter has been taking lessons for a bit and now she's in a group train! Talked to one employee who said we can just show up to see and pet horses! How great is that? The employees are knowledgeable and safe! Just don't grab the electric fence when you slip!🤔🤣👍
Tom Tavolacci: Well I rode by there so now I know where it is. I love horses ,and dogs ,and just animals in general. I guess I just wanted to see what you have.I have 5 grandchildren ,and one has CP .So maybe you offer something for him,and them I know you have shows I'd like to see one .That's it ,I been watching Heartland ,and it's a great show I love it them horses are something so smart ,and that's it . Didn't really know if I could pull in there or not
Elana Baty: Awesome place to ride, Maggie Yash used to teach me as a kid and it was so great to go back and lesson with her as an adult! Love it here
William Seelinger: Well-run place
Senea Clark: Critical:Communication,Professionalism,QualityVery rude. Would not recommend.
Claire Elaine: i love this barn! i have been going there for a while. they treat their horses very very well and are very educated about horses .
Olivia Olsztyn-Budry: My daughter and I have been at Justamere for about a year both as a students, and for boarding a horse. The negative review left recently confused me. First, there is no "staff" that answers the phones. The owner answers the phone as it is her personal cell that she walks around with in her pocket. Anytime you call she picks up. The owner loves and cares for all the horses whether they are her school horses or privately boarded horses. Having been at another barn for five years prior, it is refreshing to see an owner who runs the barn and school with such dedication and care. There isn't "staff" in abundance around the barn. Usually there is one staff aside from the owner who is taking care of the farm and helping the lesson kids get ready for their lessons. As a parent, you are welcome to watch your kid lesson and care for the horse. I truly truly truly enjoy being a student and a boarder here and absolutely appreciate the owner's care and dedication to the animals and her clients.
Megan Jones: I normally do not write reviews, but I had such an uncomfortable experience at this barn and I'm still not totally sure why. I was looking for a place to take lessons, and the staff welcomed me to come out to the barn to take a look around and maybe watch a lesson. I told them ahead of time what day I'd be coming out. The minute I got there I felt totally ostracized - everyone was staring at us when we got there, including the owner, who interrupted a lesson to come ask who I was and seemed to have no recollection of who I was or what I was doing there. When I explained who I was, she had very little to say to me and really didn't seem interested in my business at all. Just to be clear, her attention was not split between me and the lesson - she fully removed herself from the lesson to come speak to me but seemed very standoffish and uninterested in having me as a student. I was shocked with the lack of professionalism, because my prior communications with the staff were very friendly until I actually showed up at the barn. That being said, I do not expect someone to stop a lesson to come welcome me to the barn, but I also did not expect to feel to wildly uncomfortable the second I stepped foot onto the property. Needless to say, I took my business elsewhere.
Jami Willhite: We absolutely LOVE it here!!! Everyone is friendly and my daughter is learning a lot. Best place for lessons!!!
Penny N.P.: Absolutely rude. I called to see how their lessons worked and explained that I was looking for one lesson to start to see if it's something that I would want to pursue. The lady with the attitude on the phone told me it wasn't worth it for them to get the horse ready for one lesson and when I questioned if they had a minimum lesson requirement she said no, they didnt. What's the difference between someone asking ahead of time about one lesson or going there and only taking one lesson and never returning? This place needs to be taken off the list of Best places to ride a horse in metro Detroit".
Soundwave Senpai: My horse's attitude has improved greatly since I moved him to Justamere. The care is wonderful, the turn out rotation is great-- the horses get a generous amount of turn out time. Twila cares about the horses and her clientele, and her staff is caring. Boarding fees are very fair, as well!
elm tree: I’ve been riding here for about a year now and it’s amazing I love this barn 100% everyone is nice and helps when you need it, and twila is a really good riding instructor.
Taylor Lin: I can't say enough good things about Justamere. All of the horses care at this stable are top priority. Everyone at the barn, from staff to students are friendly, helpful and pleasant. Twila is a very consistent and encouraging coach who wants her students to be the best equestrians they can be. Overall, this is a fantastic facility with a supportive equestrian community. 10/10 would recommend to anyone regardless of age and discipline.
Elizabeth Cook: I have been at Justamere for over two years. I am a rider that has been a consistent horsewoman for over 30 years . Twila runs her barn like a tight ship. I am picky about my horse, and he has been treated extremely well at Justamere. Anything that breaks is immediately fixed, and the property is very well taken care of. It's unusual in these times to fund a barn that is run so well.,,,thank you Twila :)
Tom McNeil: Our daughter has been taking classes at Justamere for 3 months. We have been thrilled with how much effort and attention to detail is given to riding properly as well as safely. Our daughter has shown an increase in her confidence in all aspects of her life since taking lessons. The Team at Justamere and their leader Twyla are more a family than a business. When you ride at Justamere or board your horse there you see how everyone is there for each other and not just there for themselves. Everyone pitches in so naturally and without any negativity. If you yourself or your child want to learn to ride a horse you will certainly get that at Justamere. If you want your child to learn to ride and learn how to be responsible, caring and a Team Player you get that too at no extra charge.
evekat _moonlight: If you are a Horse Lover, a person that loves to ride and do your own thing on your horse, do not go here. This is what I call The Evil Ogre Troll kingdom. This woman, has surrounded herself with little minions that can't afford board, lessons or anything else for that matter and she has a slave labor force that would rival any plantation owner in the south during the pre civil war days, in order for them to get what they want. Board ranges, from 350 on up, but if you are not one of the (In Crowd Minion Types or if you are Western or a Military Family! you are paying 450 at least for one horse) be prepared to be talked about, stared at and judged at all aspects of your time here. Turn out of horses is suppose to be an easy thing, but turning them back in is not. To get your horse from a mud hole pasture they usually walk out and grab the horses to feed them, unless you are someone they don't like. Then they call your horse, and if it doesn't come, it never comes in to eat! Our horse lost 20lbs in 20 days. Twila the owner, believes she has an empire! She doesn't... run down fencing, burnt out pastures and children running the show! Up in your business no matter what you are doing... once they found out I was a Disabled Veteran, the hatred was on! I offered to fix things around the place for free, she just hated me. Most places give Military Vets and their family a discount, because as one barn owner told me, 'Without Vets, we would have nothing, we make money because of you guys and your sacrifice, so we should all give back to you guys and your families who allow us to live free and make a living', well put and I agree. My wife is a Vet tech and needs no one telling her how to care for her horse, but this Ego Maniac can't resist! Listen, stay away from here, it may have been a good place back in the day but no one wants to put up with a person like this Twila, yes that is her name... Twila... unsure if the parents hated her at birth or what. Over run place, control freak at the helm, minions running all over the place and slaves working the farm, not worth the time or the money. English riders, they do not really do good English here, Dressage? Not even close... bunch of stuffy people pretending to be important. Need a good place... look around
Tracey W.: This place is fantastic!! We love Twila and all of the other people at the barn. Our daughter has learned so much from Twila and continues to grow. The barn and the horses are very well taken care of. This has become one of our favorite places to be. We love watching our daughter and her friends ride. We also love visiting with all of the horses. Iwould highly recommend Justamere if you are looking for a great place!!
Kathleen Biondo: Both my daughters have rode here...wonderful barn , particularly for new riders, kids & adults alike. Friendly atmosphere, would recommend!

Rochester Hills Stables Inc: what do users think?
rvo: Very good, experienced trainers, friendly staff. It's outside of Rochester in the country, so peaceful, sweet horses, very nice.Update 12/12/2022: New owners, they are doing major improvements to the stables, extended room for the horses to walk freely. They also completely renovated the lobby, it's beautiful. Now you can finally watch, have a seat, have a drink, so nice.
Lestina Dunkel: I inquired about riding lessons for my son and Lisa quickly advised that many boys think of their school as western riding so this might not be a good fit. I explained that my son knows no difference. We just wanted to simply inquire about riding. She said that unfortunately they are very booked and the waiting list is far too long. No questions addressed but instantly turned away.
Joel Layton: Very tight and focused. A little bit of a bummer have to watch in the car via an app but that will change as things get better. Instruction is top shelf. So far so good
sam: Positive:Professionalism
Kool Kat 23: Positive:Professionalism,QualityI loved it there, but one kady yelled at my grandma so I felt bad I quit, but am know thinking on coming back. I really love the horses and will hopefully return soon
Douglas Allen: A days work..
Grace Weber: I have been riding here for almost 7 years now. I would never ride anywhere else. Rochester hills is 100% one of the best places out there. The trainers are amazing, and always pushed me to my full potential. Last year i joined the training program aka a competitive riding group where we go to away shows and show for points. My experience there was amazing as well. The group i show with is super kind and friendly. The trainers were so compassionate despite whether we won or lost. I had leased a pony names Buttons from one of my trainers for a year and this year i bought a horse. Throughout the struggles of trying to find a horse, my trainers continues to support me and help me find the perfect match. They have always taken the best care of my horse no matter what! I would never go anywhere else. This stable is truly amazing. They have inspired me to do so many things. You can never go wrong with Rochester Hills.
Luke de Chazal: My experience at this stable has been incredible. I have ridden here for almost seven years, and in that time I have never noticed any unacceptable treatment or behavior towards the horses. The instructors are all very experienced and know how to pass on their knowledge to students. Overall this is in my opinion the best stable in the Rochester Hills area.
Raquel Bostick: My Daughter has been having the best time at the stable. The trainers are so nice and the horses and ponies are well taken care of. We love Rochester hills stable.
Leesa Ferrell: I received a gift certificate for riding lessons over 19 years ago. After the first lesson I was hooked. I rode school horses for many years and purchased my own horses with the help of Diane. The care of the horses is outstanding. The approach to teaching is conservative. I am grateful for the bonds I have developed with the horses and the amazing friends I have made.If you have a horse crazy kid or as an adult who has always wanted to learn how to ride this is the place for you.
Ruby Darmanin: I’ve been riding here for almost 3 years and my experience has been the best! The trainers are super nice and are super positive. The horses are greatly taken care of. I lease a pony named Cali and I always get notified if anything is not right. Great place to learn!
McKenna Witt: This is such a wonderful and safe place for people to learn to ride horses and learn about horseman ship. It’s a place I am so proud to be apart of my entire life and that I am so proud to watch other people learn.
Cathy LaMont: I've been riding with RHS for over 15 years and am tremendously thankful for the staff, the other riders and, of course, the horses. It's a conservative school that focuses on teaching the fundamentals to serve the students for a lifetime of safe, enjoyable riding and competing if that's their desire.I think the most important thing for me is the care for the horses and ponies. I board a horse there that I purchased through Diane over 13 years ago. I can't imagine taking him anywhere else - the care, concern and love he receives from everyone at the barn, and especially Diane, is incomparable. I don't think I could pay anyone else any amount of money to care for him as much as he is cared for at RHS.When I first was purchasing mortality insurance for him, I asked the sales person what an average lifespan for a horse was, she said "in the wild, maybe 20 years, but with regular care and exercise, 30 years is a great life". I told her that I knew horses at "my" barn in their 40s. She said "that must be Rochester Hills - don't know what they put in the water but those horses are healthy!" I don't know if I got a discounted premium - but my horse is a healthy, happy friend. Thank you RHS!
Jen Van Hooser: The only reason I'm loving it one star is because the horses are alive .they almost never go outside and the stalls are dug out and just awful care for the horses
Steve Ferguson: First, I want to highlight the true diamond in this review, which is the one and only reason it’s two stars instead of one. Maryann, my daughter’s instructor at the stables, and the only reason we’ve continued going the last few years is a very knowledgeable, warm, caring human being. She has been a phenomenal teacher, and the sort of person who without even trying is a positive, strong role-model for young girls. Our whole family, our daughter in particular, have been blessed to have her in our lives for as long as we have. I cannot say enough nice things about Maryann. We all love her.Having said that, the rest of the people we have dealt with at the stables have provided a sharp contrast to Maryann. We have had more than one instructor (either substituting for Maryann or running the “summer camp”), who clearly did not have the empathy or understanding to teach young girls, send our daughter home in tears. We’ve had at least one other substitute whose primary method of teaching was looking up from her phone and barking out a command every few minutes. Further, over the last couple of years, the only times we’ve been treated pleasantly by anyone in the front office is when we were giving them money. We’ve been loyal customers for the last five and a half years. We’ve continued giving our business to the stables despite the fact that their facility was until this year so run down that several of the stables were subject to frequent flooding, the fences on the paddock were falling apart in places, and the stalls were so poorly maintained that at least one of them was partially collapsed and left propped up by a 2”x4” for months. Finally this year the stable saw some investment and has rebuilt the stalls on both sides, which to be fair, is a significant improvement. But apparently now that the stables have been updated, it’s time to weed out the customers who do not spend enough money. Our daughter attends classes bi-weekly during the school year and every week during the summer, amounting to 32 weeks every year. Yet we were told there is a waiting list of people willing to be there every week, the implication being that if we’re not willing to match that, we need to take our business elsewhere. Never mind that from our observation of going very regularly, we’ve seen students drop in and out for months at a time. Being loyal paying customers for 60+% of the year for as long as we have is clearly not appreciated. The root of my grievance with the business at this point is that the problem with us coming every other week is alternately “depriving the instructor of pay”, “depriving the stable of money”, “a pace of growth issue”, and “a safety issue”. The specific issue changes depending on what compromise we can offer on any given point. This has been a recurring theme for the last few years, and we’ve finally been told that it’s time to commit to a weekly class (or by implication that they were no longer interested in our business, though they did not have the courage to come right out and say that). The human thing to do would’ve been to try to understand our limitations (both financial and with scheduling), while we try to understand theirs, and work toward a mutually beneficial solution to preserve our relationship. What’s worse is that the management chose to put our instructor, Maryann, in the middle of this conflict, rather than contacting us directly. After hearing yet again that this was a problem, via our instructor, I had to initiate the conversation with management. At that time, I was essentially stone-walled and run around through the carousel of issues above. No matter which issue I was willing to discuss and compromise on, the problem became about the next issue. While I asked questions to find out their concerns, as documented above, they never made any attempt to ask me about our limitations. I offered compromises and in turn they offered nothing.Unfortunately, as much as we love Maryann, we would definitely not recommend choosing Rochester Hills Stables.
Deb Croxton: I grew up riding in England and was fortunate to find Rochester Hills Stables, when I relocated to Michigan. I have been riding at RHS since the early 1990's. By far the best riding facility in the area. The trainers are extremely professional and knowledgeable. They have horses and ponies for all levels, from beginners to more advanced riders. You will learn not only the skills to ride but also caring for horses. I highly recommend this barn.
Markus Mueller: The staple offers great classes and moves riders to the next level if they are good in their group. The “livingroom” like waiting area is heated and you can view your riders. They got small and real tall horses. Perfect for everyone. The place has a little store attached where you can get what you need.
Sophia Williams: the staff is great!
