Isla Detroit: what do users think?
Michael Ma: An island in the middle of Sterling Heights. Very very good food! I stopped in and tried the Tropical Ube Cake, Buko Halo Halo, and the crispy pork. The pork was amazingly crispy, even more than a pork rind. The Buko Halo Halo had such good sweet flavors too.Highly recommend this place if you want something different and tasty!
Samah Gabrail: I had a really good and positive experience at Isla Filipino Cuisine. This was my first time trying Filipino food and my first time at this restaurant. The owners of the restaurant were really nice and professional. The restaurant was clean. The food and desserts were really good. The service was excellent. I highly recommend this place. Keep up the good work 👍👍
Ashley Lynn: Delicious food! I loved my meal and my bfs. They give you quite a bit of food so it's worth the price.
Craig M.: Drove 20 minutes to meet a friend arrived well before the posted closing to a piece of paper on the window saying closed just on Saturday if they're going to close they should update the internet as most people use the internet to check on a restaurant before they go there very disappointed. I was looking forward to trying Filipino cuisine, probably won't go back. Don't like my time being wasted.
A Z: To start off, the dessert was amazing, but everything else was pretty lacking for me sadly. Upon entering the store, there wasn't anyone at the counter until a few minutes later. I ordered the chicken Adobo, and sadly it tasted pretty mediocre, a little too salty if anything. It was just a bunch of rice and chicken and a little pricy, but nothing too special sadly. I do appreciate the generous amount of chicken and rice that was given, so much that I made a second meal out of it for dinner, but I just wish there was more flavor to it. That's just my opinion though, you might really like it! Highly recommend the dessert though!
Amy Babcock: The food here's fantastic, and I absolutely loved my time dining here. While the place isn't that big, it has large portions and a decent menu. The only thing their missing is fountain pop, but they do bring out big jugs of water for your table.Place isn't cheap, but you do get a ton of food. Even for the heartiest of appetites', you'll still bring home leftovers.

Shawn Kind: Great service wonderful food We really enjoyed my wife's birthday at this fantastic Filipino restaurant in Sterling heightsWheelchair accessibility: I saw a ramp and the door looks accessible for a wheelchair
William Vosotros: I’ve visited them a few times when they were still in downtown Detroit. Their menu seems to get shorter on this new location. Nevertheless, I always order their pork & beans, & it doesn’t disappoint as always. My friends tend to have a not-so-good review of this place but I always end up leaving full & satisfied.
Winter Rose: Amazing food. We had chicken adobo and the Pancit. Will definitely be back. The couple that run it were very sweet too. We're excited to try the Halo Halo next time.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Pancit Palabok, Chicken Adobo …More
Lawrence: So good! Just what we needed. Been living in the Metro Detroit area and so glad to have a go-to place to have some Filipino food!
Ay Nako!: . We found this restaurant from a Google search and decided to drive the additional 15 or so minutes to give it a try. My wife was born and raised in the Philippines, so she is always looking for Filipino restaurants, as we lack such places in the Cincinnati area. Anyway, Isla has the best chicken inasal I've had since our last Philippines visit in 2016! I only wished the portion was larger, but any remaining space in my stomach was quickly filled with an amazing banana fritter. I must also mention that the spicy sauce we got with the chicken inasal is easily one of the best sauces I've ever tasted in my life (and I am a huge sauce person
Reneh Gelladuga: Delicious. Tasted like home. Came on a Wednesday and it was nice and slow. Inside is super clean and modern, there’s about five small tables and another seating area near the window, so be conscious of what day and time you’re coming. We dined in and were given menus and were told to come back up front when ready to order. We chose the chicken inasal and lechon kawali. For desert I was originally going to choose the Cashew Sans Rival that was on their little dessert sheet, but luckily Tita Jacqueline asked if we wanted Turon and or Halo Halo, we said yes to both and was not disappointed.Food took about 15 minutes, but Filipino food can take a long time to cook, so I was happy to wait. The food was amazing. It tasted like home, and it was certainly made with love. The portions are perfect. Lechon wasn’t too salty, but still had a crispy bite. Inasal was packed with flavor. And I don’t know what it is about their white jasmine rice, but it tasted wonderful, the fried garlic bits on top really made a difference.Tita Jacqueline also seemed to be conscious of the time frame of where we were in our meal, because just as we were finishing up our entrees, the Halo Halo and Turon were being served. I really really appreciated that it timed out like that.Halo Halo was delicious (and messy as it should be) and the Turon was perfectly cooked. The Halo Halo tasted like the ones from home. And I appreciated the flaky, not overly sweet Turon.I felt as though the prices were a tad bit expensive, but I know Filipino food can require a lot of time and resources to cook to make it taste properly. The Owners were very nice and friendly, and I can’t wait to see them again when I have another pinoy food craving. The palabok and Batchoy is next on my list!

Savannah Byrd: This place is a hidden gem. I’ve been a few times now and can’t say enough about it. The chicken adobo and turon dessert are my favorites. For takeout, it can take a while so order well in advance. The wait is definitely worth it though.Recommended dishes Chicken Adobo …More

Summer Alkhafaji: The service was GREAT.. The buffet had a very large assortment of main course items. The desserts did not taste right at all, they were old and everything was made out of cheap boxed cake not even a good quality boxed cake! The fruits were good and fresh. The main reason I went there was for the Iraqi dolma, which was okay but a tiny bit extra sour. We love dolma sour but this was way over board. Hopefully it will improve in the future! For a total 30 dollars per person I think the quality could improve perhaps :)

TAMIKA WILLIAMS: This was my first time going here. The waitress was so very kind. But the food was awful. I ordered the fish and chips and the big man breakfast. It was drenched in grease. I don't know if it was the cook for that day but the food was not good. I pass.👎

Tony A.: food is good here but the service is mediocre at best. one waitress there is nice and polite and the others didn’t say thank you or good bye and one messed up our order so bad. don’t know if i’ll go back
darlene Lewis: This was my favorite until today eggs were horrible undercooked staff was horrible
Lan Lam: I wanted to give this place a chance because it is close to my house but boy should I have believed those reviews. The waitress that came by walked by our table not once or twice but six times. Our waitress who had braids, finally gave us menus after 10-15 minutes of being seated. It was probably 10-15 minutes more after she realized she didnt take our order. She seemed to be in her own little world. She asked us if she had taken our order yet. I have never seen lackluster service like this in a long time.Other customers seated by us were also receiving her terrible service as well so it wasn't us only. She took our order but then still came back to ask what my fiance asked to remove from her order a second time(it was onions). I thought she wrote that down but apparently not. I asked for a fettuccine alfredo with shrimp but received only the plain alfredo. When our food arrived, we had to ask for silverware. While we ate, she never came by to ask if we needed anything or wanted refills on our drinks. She is not cut out for this profession whatsoever. The best part is I had to ask ANOTHER waitress for the bill and a box because ours was chatting up a customer at the counter. No wonder she was inattentive! She gets a F for effort and a F for service. The other waitresses were wonderful and welcoming though. It's terrible they have to deal with a deadbeat of a coworker.Absolutely trash service. Do not come here. I seldom write scathing reviews but this place deserves negative five stars. Your money and time can be well spent at any other coney island. What a waste of time and money
