Nichelle Thomas: My dad passed away in July 2021 and was in the morgue as a John Doe until my uncle received a random call from some lady. I’m the next to kin so I called to the Morgue because I live in Texas. They gave me a hard time! No autopsy had been done yet. I called to all over and over about them cremating him because I could not afford to bury him at that time. After they finally sent me the form in the mail… I called again to check on the cremation and still nothing. Here it is May 2022 and I still haven’t received a autopsy report, death certificate or my dads ashes. Which they told me I could receive! I have a feeling my dad body is still there…I’m just too afraid to call. If anybody can help me out with what to do?

Deriviann Gardner: I do not know who is in control of the medical examiner's office. Or where complaints can be officially made to make a change in policy. I felt like I was victimized twice in regards to the passing of my husband. We've been together consistently for over 30 years but the minute he passed away when I wasn't at home, on our front porch, you people act as though you own him. I could not see him in the hospital, of which when I got there he was not in the system under his name because no one cared enough to listen to his family. I had his identification with the address where they picked him up at and still was not allowed to see him. That was a very painful process. To top that off they then sent him to the coroner for an autopsy which again iif they listened they would have known of his family's history of heart problems. I also had to go through a very impersonal viewing on a TV in order to verify who he was. I am still very much reeling from his sudden death and the way the entire situation was handled. I wanted to see and touch my husband 1 last time without the degradation of my husbands body. They do what they want to him before I'm allowed to grieve to him in my own way. It should have been my choice to see him in whatever state I wanted before you all cut on him or embalm him for money. I did not need you to so-called straighten him up before I view him naturally. It is disgusting that this turned out to be a money grab. My husband and I always talked about being cremated so for the state to want him to have make-up and be placed on display for me and our 4 children was very much out of line and not your place to say how he should be viewed. From the picture showed at the coroner's office, I would have rather seen him in rhat state in person. Not behind the scenes hidden away while you show me a picture of him. I was with that beautiful man for more than half my life. In my running around that day because the hospital claimed to, in the beginning, not have him. I found out after going to the fire department who sent the ambulance that they didn't even care enough to get the address straight. They had inverted the numbers, 2 of them were out of place. They acted as though he came in there naked...said nothing about where his clothing were. They left his phone on the front porch which had my number in it as well as our children. I will forever be scarred by this process. My husband's death was sudden so I was unprepared for what happened after he was taken from our home. I lost him August 3 last year. Then 10 days later my father passed aeay in Georgia...thank the heavens he was not here. Forever traumatised by this not so much of an effort to make a family feel human. I loved and admired my husband...I am a complete fan of his. Our love and life was tarnished with your interjection into it. We should have been prepped with what we wanted to see and be allowed to make that decision, not you people. You dehumanized the situation with as little care as possible. It's as if we were not thought of as having life before this that you knew nothing about and totally did not care.I don't expect you people to care about what I'm writing here now but I had to put it out here in this vast universe if nothing but to get off my chest. Nothing can be done now for my situation...it's too late. As unbearable as thinking about this is.

Michele J: I called inquiring the procedure to view my loved one body. When I got there the only thing I was allowed to view was a computer image. I was led to believe the body was in the building only to later be told that the body was released to someone who wasn't even remotely next of kin. It's been nearly 2 weeks and no one has contacted me. I didn't get to view my own child's body.
