Best Pediatric Neurologist Sterling Heights Near Me

RSR: We saw this doctor for six months and no testing was ever done. He said our son had mild autism as part of his diagnosis, but seemed to be actively against doing an evaluation. He even wrote a doctors note that stated my son has autism and would benefit from ABA therapy so that, in his mind, we could start ABA without an evaluation. We were naïve, but of course, a child cannot start ABA without a complete autism evaluation. The therapy centers won't accept a note and neither will insurance. At an appointment a month later, he told us that our sons autism "was getting better." When I told him we were getting an evaluation done with Beaumont (thankfully we had our son put on a waiting list before we saw this doctor), his first question was how are we going to pay for it? Our first appt was about a half hour and all the others were about 10-15 minutes. How did he diagnose our son with these short visits? We always had to wait a long time for the doc. One time we waited 45 minutes. Our last appt over the phone was 6 MINUTES. At the end of the 6 minute call, he told our son "I love you" which we did not think was appropriate to tell a 4 year old child that he barely knows. We are seeing another neurologist now and she made an appt to get our son an MRI during the first appt.. We hope to be on the right track for our son now.

Sony Queen: Wow called for appointment I guess I was accidentally referred to this clinic for my son. Nasty attitude about not accepting my insurance. So glad I was able to schedule at children hospital DMC of Troy!! DMC is superior medical care. Top in Michigan. Go DMC!!!!

Karilynn Whitley: He is wonderful. He does spend time talking to my daughter about life style changes to help her grow and get better, and to help lower the possibility of her having another seizure. Sometimes the wait can be bad, but it really does depend on the time of day. The later in the day the longer the wait.

April Lane: Very disrespectful and unprofessional I went here to have my son evaluated for autism I brung his current diagnosis and the doctor threw them on the table didn’t even look at them. Then when I told him I was autistic he told me “well you should have a masters degree the way you talk”. Then the doctor proceeded to tell me that I didn’t have autism he also didn’t do my sons evaluation he told me “well what do you want me to do he looks normal”. I will be complaining to my insurance and to the state.

Jennifer Dubrulle: Be prepared for a long wait sometimes but this is a special doctor. He asks a lot of questions and really sees the big picture of what is going on with your child mentally as well as physically. My child's issues are a puzzle and after one visit I feel I am finally getting somewhere.

Kayla Schmidt: We do wait in the waiting room for a while but he is a great doctor. My young kids respond to him and he has gotten my kids ADHD and autism under control. He is absolutely wonderful. Highly recommend.We drive an hour each way several times a month to see him.And at least his waiting room is big and clean with a TV :) also the pharmacy down the hall sells snacks and drinks for real cheap to keep thelids occupied.

T: The reviews about wait times are not wrong. I've waited 30-45 mins past appt time a lot. I almost left before my first appt... And before my second. But I keep going back because he's a great Dr.That said, finding a neurologist who spends time, listens and genuinely cares about the families and patients is rare. Dr. Al is not a drug pusher and would rather adjust a lifestyle rather than just a chemical where possible.Parents - It's hard to find a Dr like this. If you can get over the wait it's worth it.

Ani P: Same issue... wait time is never less than an hour... and they take patients in the order of sign-in not appointment. I'm tired of this. Going to look for someone new

Heidi Rasmussen: We waited an hour and 45 minutes in the waiting room. When I finally asked about it, the office staff explained that they have had a few new patients that he has taken extra time with. In the room, we waited another 10 minutes. There is a sign saying they will often run behind due to hospital consultations and other emergencies. The same sign was there when we used to come here 5 years ago. This is nothing new. I would expect them to compensate for this by spreading out appointment times or having a catch-up period. Another suggestion would be to call upcoming appointments letting them know that appointments are running an hour or more behind. Expecting busy families to wait for 2 hours is not respecting their time as they say in their paperwork.

Wednesday B.: Just spoke with Carmen. She is the after hours on call person who pages Doctors for emergencies. She is one of the rudest people I have ever encountered in my whole history of life. She should not be answering phones and speaking with patients. She should be put far in the back away from people. It is obvious she hates her job and hates people even more. So sad.

Fadi Hasani: Just spoke to Courtney who really should be the last person on earth making calls to patients to schedule or update anything.

Brittany Nelson: Trying to find my son a pediatric nuerologist without all the hassel at this location is like looking for a needle in a haystack. IMPOSSIBLE to say the least. And i had to do the intake over the phone. I had to be recommended to go there. What if i want the second opinion for my sons health? BS i wouldn't waste my time or money to go out there and they are supposed to be a great hospital. Jajaja yeah ok. Im going to keep looking.

Terri Buckner: My daughter meets with Dr. McCormick and Meghan Liuzzo RN, NP. We love them both. They have a great manner of communication, are very thorough and listen deeply and completely. They put her on a path to dealing with her migraines, teaching headache hygiene as well as slow introduction of medication. They treat the total patient. We highly recommend them.

Oxygen F: The nurse who took my daughter was angry, my questions and answers were not satisfied. Especially to my daughter is still the pediatric department. She just does not know how to talk to either the children or the adults. It looked more like dissatisfaction with his work. I still remember her wicked face

KimandGarrett Steudle: Won't be coming back to this group. First off they weighed my daughter with all her cloths and diaper on, placing her in a higher percentile for weight. And then the doc that seen her(wasn't our preferred doc, just who they placed us with) couldn't read and properly locate her percitile on WHO's national developmental chart. I kindly told her that 7.4 oz at birth was not 10% on the chart and she continued 3xs saying that she was 10% ..what a waste of time and money..seriously any pediatric doc would know that 7.4oz is NOT that low on a growth chart. She also was very slow and inattentive to my explanations if my daughter's challenges. Very unprofessional I'm a frustrated mom!
