Ullman Sails Detroit: what do users think?
Rob Kress: I ordered a stack pack from Ullman Sails in Clinton Township on 8/11/21. I was originally told 4 weeks. I called to check on it at the appointed time and was told it was mostly done and should be soon. I called a couple weeks later, it still wasn’t done and resigned myself to getting it in the spring of 2022. Come April I called and was told when the boat is in the water call us and we will install it. So I called as instructed and then I started getting new excuses and a delayed dates for install. I finally put a drop dead date of July 4th weekend or I was canceling. That date came and went, and yet I still waited 2 more weeks in case they finally came around. I did not hear from them and I disputed the charge with my credit card company to which they never responded to that either. So in all, I waited 11 months after ordering and paying half down on a stack pack and never received it from Ullman. At that point I then ordered it from another sail house in Warren, and after waiting only 3 weeks it was completed, installed on my boat, it works perfectly and looks amazing.
Billie Prescott: There are many choices out there when it comes to a sail loft. That said, Ullman are not only pros in every sense, they handle their customers like fiends and make doing business with them a pleasure and simple. Pricing is exceptional compared to other name brands with zero compromise in quality or craftsmanship. This is a sailors loft...so if you need a brand label or super fancy website to feel good about your purchase head North. However, if you're looking for excellent service before, during and after the "sail" reach out to these guys and gals. You won't regret it!

North Sails: what do users think?
Rob Kress: Wonderful place to do business with. I used to go somewhere else and I accepted the poor service because I have a smaller sailboat, and I’m not a racer spending $15,000 on a sail. I had them look at the same sails I had taken elsewhere. Turns out my bolt rope shrunk and caused the luff to bunch up. An easy fix, no need to replace the sail.
Mark Paterson: Fast, Friendly service by some true professionals, great place to take your sails for the spring checkup and repairs if needed (during the off season).
Ranam Kazziha: Great quality
Birdsoup: Good staff
Rob Ferguson: I saved up my money to buy a 3DI Racing Genoa for my J/92 and a A2 Asymmetrical 3 years ago. Right from the start the Genoa's last 2 inches of the entire leech would hook to windward almost at 90 degrees with the leech chord fully off. I sent the sail in for them to repair and had to pay for it. It did not solve the issue. Had the representative sail on the boat and mention how terrible it was and that it was a flaw in the mold process. Sent it back to the Detroit loft and they cut 2" off the leech and then gave me another bill for $200. The leech still hooks massively to windward and I have 2" less of a sail along most of the leech. It is my belief that the sail should have been sent back to the factory in Singapore where it was made. I felt bad asking this of the Loft since I was using the sail and did not want them to think I was wanting a new sail at the time. I wish somehow the issue from the factory could have been resolved so I would not be stuck with a sail that I was completely unhappy with. The A2 I purchased was okay but was clearly a generic A2 they shipped to me since it had cruising stuff on it for outside gybes that I had to rip off.
ryan weiss: These folks repaired my kite canopy. Their prices were reasonable, their service was prompt, and their work was exceptional. North Sales Detroit has exceeded all expectations. Highly recommend!
Etienne CBR: What a great welcome!!!You can feel the passion in this location.
Matthew Bondy: Very helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. Prices for repairs very reasonable. Provided extra materials to let me complete minor repairs on my own (windsurfing sails).

Kent Sail Co: what do users think?
Carl Sutton: Had a Job sail replaced. Kent Sails is the best! I will be back.
Brian Ross: Always great service and top notch quality. After trying several other lofts, I've had the best luck with Kent. Consistent, fast, and reasonable.
Brian Cylkowski: A great sail maker!!!
Debora Granneman: Kent Sail Co did a fabulous job of repairing our Mylar sail, which was chewed up at the rope edge that runs up into the channel. Our Megabyte was made in China and the specifications were not well done. We had been spraying the rope edge with silicone to be able to raise the sail and it still got really frayed. Kent Sail Co not only repaired the sail, they used a slightly smaller rope so it runs very smoothly up the channel. Yes, we tried it out in the driveway. And in addition, Kent Sail Co made us a Dacron sail, again with a smaller diameter rope, which will be the sail we use most. They added a gold/orange band across the sail in the middle for interest and we are really happy with the work they did. They included the battens, sail bag, and Mylar window and for all the work they did, we paid less than it would have cost us to get a new Mylar sail, which was no longer available anyway. We are highly satisfied with the work done by Kent Sail Co and highly recommend their services. I would include photos, but Apple changed the format of photos on all their phones and I can no longer retrieve them.
Richard Stetter: Can't wait to see these sails up!
Sailing with “Big Worm” Big Worm: Went to check out sails
Rick R: I wouldn't go anywhere else and neither should you.Personal service with an honesty rate and delivered when promised.
ruth hummel: Outstanding repairs and respectable sail and/or cloth accessories work. Have been going here forever! 10% off if you bring in your items before the end of the year- always do that!
Eric McCord: I've had several custom jobs done here and have been happy with everything.
Edward Young: They are exclusively sailmaker and covermaker( itiller covers etc) in business for over 40 years.
Robert Sellers: Good service, prices
Benjamin Schwandt: Custom Sea bags are great for storing all my sailing and fishing gear. Custom sizes, colors, and pockets work well too. Tough durable canvas
Chuck Simmons: Great work, personalized service, reasonable prices.
Dean Ackerman: They know their stuff about sailing
S. M. Momjian: I have been buying sails from Kent for a number of years. I even order sails for my sailboat in Florida from Kent because they are reasonably priced, made right here in Michigan rather than some overseas operation, I don't see much difference from the pricier sails made by North or some other loft even though I do race my sailboat here in Michigan.
