Ashley Lilly: I have a retractable screened in porch that has snapped and no longer works. I spoke to someone back in November and was told they would be in contact and the part should take two weeks. Called again about a month later and they were on a job site upnorth to call back the next day, no answer. I have called and left voicemails and still have not heard from them. It is mid January…. Horrible.Side note since this is the company that was used other companies will not come out and fix it so I am stuck with the issue. So when I have to reconstruct the whole porch I will definitely not be using them.

Dennis Cox Jr.: I'm a contractor and had several decks I needed railing quotes for. Emailed over the list to Ron. Never heard back. Emailed after 1 month and he replied back saying in his 52 years he had never seen such an extensive list to quote. So to him that means don't ever respond. Emailed his boss that he thought this was acceptable to do to a possible client. His boss never responded. If you want actual service go elsewhere.

KB MILLER: Been shopping there for years, was a little rough at first because as a business you get a lot of fly by night contractors that are more into a fast buck than doing it right, So as my self stated karma grew so did my reputation and respect with all businesses including this one, I think they should pay more attention to their yard help and they will have permanent help but that's my personal thoughts and if the owner is interested I'd share them personally, life goes on and that door revolves, either way, they have what others don't in quality and quantity, much appreciated.

Blake “bam” Milnes: I would not recommend Boylard to anyone I know. We purchased Marvin windows from Tony our salesperson back in February. We thought the "ultimate windows" came with inserts but he failed to mention they did not. That's fine, so we ordered the inserts back in April. I asked him for an update in May and he said they should be in any day now. 7 months later and still no inserts. I have asked several times for an update since then and he continues to ignore my messages. I understand things are behind right now because of covid but this is just bad customer service. Definitely will not be using them for any renovation projects in the future.

Sara Burke: My husband recently placed an order for molding boards with this company. He has been working in woodworking for years and is always excited to be purchasing from local independent suppliers. Per my husband’s account, while loading this product into our vehicle, the employee assisting him was very aggressive and rough with the load in despite my husband having adequately protected the vehicle with towels/etc. My husband went as far as to ask the employee to please execute more care. My husband later described the event as the employee loading in the materials like he was using a battering ram. Unfortunately, this resulted a large gash in the upholstered dashboard of our vehicle. My husband was picking up these materials on the way to work, noticed the damage immediately on the lot, but was unable to stay, so he took a photo of the damage and called the company while leaving the lot, to explain the situation.While I understand that individuals take on a certain degree of liability for loading and transport of materials in personal vehicles, I think this situation demonstrated a degree of employee negligence to which the company should take some responsibility for.When we contacted the owner of American Wood Moldings, Bob, to discuss possible options for mitigation of cost for replacement, he refused to acknowledge that his company/employee had any responsibility for this event. He provided multiple disappointing excuses, included that it could have happened after load-in while my husband was transporting said materials and that my husband shouldn’t have left the loading lot. This is disrespectful to my husband who was attempting to document and provide appropriate notification about the incident while also meet his work obligations.I am disappointed to see an independent local vendor take advantage of this situation and we will be sharing this experience with friends in the industry.Incident Occurrence: 7/22/22

Tom McClellan: This place is amazing ! I needed a short piece of specialty crown molding, but couldn't find it at the big box stores. When i called American Wood Molding, they had me send pics of what i needed, then sent back some pics of likely matches. When i took in a sample, they took me down to find the exact match from among the hundreds of stock items. For real.... hundreds ! And the staff were all over-the-top helpful and friendly. Definitely the go-to place for trim and molding.

Lawrence Graham: this place is awesome, my mind was blown!, I thought I was back in some weird movie, I pull up to this non-discript strip mall, the store was nothing from the outside. As soon as you. walk in, floor to ceiling left to right scanning of your eyes. Mine were in visual overload. Arch wood, fire place surrounds, corbels, carvings, Not an inch of spare square space wasted. The front was split into two separate rooms. A fine specimen of an older lady, greeted me, and attended to my inquiry. I made my way to the back of the space, a man was stoic in the pile of paperwork on the desk in front him. I asked about ordering some different moldings. He politely proceeded to cut me off. He said, see that door, I said yes, he said go thru that door, down the stairs, and Look for a guy, his name is James. He laughed and said, he'll show you around. I went down the stairs, and as I proceeded, the smell was awash over me of fresh sawdust, and old wood cutters shop. I went thru this door, where I was greeted by James. That's when my eyes began whirling around, and they soomed in and out, as I looked over my shoulder, a mill shop that just went on and on at least 300 ft, under ea of the adjoining retail shops in the strip mall., bins again filled with every imaginable piece of possible molding every made by mankind. bins 16 ft deep in front and in back of me, up , down , left, to right floor to ceiling. This is where, I WENT DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE! I'd gone to carpenter's Heaven!.

Jason ODay (Jay): I drove far because the website list under "Dimensional Lumber" included a 3x4 (actual 2.5 x 3.5). As soon as I walked in to ask, the staff said they don't carry 3 x 4. The website is not accurate, better call before you make the journey to John's Lumber.

Mary H: The best lumber place around! I usually have small projects but this place always helps me! I can always get the wood cut to my crazy specifications! Today I needed a piece of wood to recover for a kids 100 yr old rocking chair my godfather made. It was an angle cut & I was told they only do straight cuts, which I was fine with. But the wood cutter brought it out to me EXACTLY HOW IT WAS- on an angle! I was sooo happy I hope they see this and give that guy a pat on the back?(or a raise!) for going beyond the job!

Andrew Moore: I’ve been coming in a number of times. Every time it seems the service gets worse and worse. Today when I went in I was carrying a wood sample with me. Before I finished walking through the front door one of the reps tells me ‘oh we don’t have anything like that.’ Needless to say I left and found another lumber company to help me.

Mark Felzien: I was trying to finish up my Trex deck project yesterday when I realized I needed one more floor board. I knew John's Lumber sold Trex so I called the Shelby store. "Mark" took my call and quickly checked on stock at their store. He said I had to go to their main store at 15 and Gratiot and they only had 20' lengths (I only needed 5'). But, then, he said they might have had some in the "returns" at their store in Shelby that don't show in the inventory. He had to physically check and said he would call me back in 5 minutes. He DID! And they DID have a 12' board and he had already pulled it an put it in Will-Call for me! I thanked him and hung up. I turned to my girlfriend and said, "Am I on another planet? Who gives customer service like THAT these days?"I drove to the store to get it and I took my battery circular saw to cut it in 2 pieces to fit in the car better. The sales guy said that they would do that for me, no problem.I can't imagine going ANYWHERE else for materials now. What a great place. Friendly, helpful people.

I emailed for an ETA update since we were told once the order was placed we'd get a more accurate ETA. If i hadn't sent an email I would have never known the doors were pushed back A MONTH !! Salesperson tried to say that's what we were told. NOT !! Called him out then the blame was passed on. NO YOU'RE THE SALES PERSON THAT TOLD US WRONG, TOOK OUR MONEY AND NEVER FOLLOWED UP TO LET US KNOW WE'D BE WAITING ANOTHER MONTH !! That pushed my contractors back now I'm pushed back with them to get the doors installed and siding done !! We planned on doing the deck, took samples etc from here but ummmmm NO !! I will go somewhere else for my deck !! Also sent an email to management about the experience/delay/lack of communication and again NOTHING !!

After explaining what I needed, the first young man escorted us to the lumber area to help us find scrap sizes for my project. The second young man cut the pieces to my request. Both were very helpful, polite, and courteous. What a pleasure!!! This is my go to place!

mama m: I’m a 72 year old veteran and I Bought 25 womanized 2x6x16’ boards , nine years ago for my decking in 2012, and boy are they heavy.Decking is 2 ft. Off the ground, and starting rotting out in 8 years.The deck was waterproofed stained, every year..You must have gotten a bad batch, was their only response Period....I guess no responsibility on their behalf.Went there this year to further complain, on the remaining rotting out boards,, I was told, they would come out and look at it,,,hmm,That was in May,, this is July2021 of course a no show,,Better off buying from Home Depot, ,you may get the same bad service but ,there’s will probably last longer.

Jeremy Allen: I tried to get cabinet doors replaced, but received nothing more than lip service. I had a discussion with their “cabinet expert,” who was helpful in the moment. She told me she would call me back in two days. It’s been two weeks now, and not a word. I’ve left 5 messages for her and her department and not a single call back.I can’t speak for the rest of John’s Lumber operations or employees, but I can say their “cabinet expert’s” incompetence has lost them at least one customer.It’s not worth your time or the frustration.

Darrin Anderson: Ordered at 7am and was pleasantly surprised with same day delivery! Lumber was in great condition with only one board broken, all of the 2x4s were either straight or pretty damn close to straight, Brian was a polite, professional, and informative employee. Couldn't be happier

Allan “Big aL” Losey: Michael has helped with a few projects, including a cutting board integrated into a cabinet, a bar and entryway cabinets. His work is excellent and he pays attention to each and every detail. He was not satisfied until we were satisfied. We get compliments from everyone that sees his work. His pricing is fair, he offers sound suggestions, and he honors his commitment for timing (or communicates otherwise). Together we mapped out each detail of some pretty complicated integration. We are very pleased and would not hesitate to use him again for future projects.
