Cat Tail Kitties Rescue: what do users think?
C Wink: Wow. This "Rescue" is terribly run. It's heartbreaking. We know the couple that fostered the Momma, a feral neighborhood cat. Put in an application for one of her beautiful babies, took a few emails over a month to get a response... first red flag. We then learned the kittens were unceremoniously taken from that home at about 7 weeks old, and they (Carole) had the audacity to tell this generous, animal loving couple that they should take a break from fostering.... what kind of pet adoption org. does or says that? Then the phone call about us adopting the kitten that we've been getting updates, pics and videos on for 6 weeks... no relevant questions asked, didn't even inquire about the temperament or personality of our beautiful, energetic, spoiled 2 year old baby kitty that we adopted from the Ferndale Cat Shelter (EXCELLENT organization, very thorough application process), OR all the LOVE, amazing cat towers, window seats, toys and attention the kitty would receive. Seriously, Debi (who sounded beyond disinterested and like I was bothering her) just asked where my husband worked and that was about it.The whole process was beyond weird and extremely unprofessional. Ferndale Cat Shelter is solely volunteer run too, so that excuse holds no water... seriously, what are you looking for in an adoptive family? You asked ZERO questions that actually matter in the kitties best interest. I really hope these kittens get amazing homes, because your criteria is sorely lacking. You all really missed the mark on this one. I will strongly not recommend you in the future.
Tomas Diaz: Don't waste your time with this organization. They've become a cult and very judgmental. They will deny your application because they "feel" you're not good enough or they can't find the "perfect" home, whatever that is. Maybe they just didn't like my foreign accent! Who knows? I mean, they can legally discriminate against ethnicity or gender, so I wouldn't rule that out. I've been trying for two weeks to get one of their kitties and she’s still there begging to be adopted for over 8 weeks now. Apparently, submitting that cat to the unnecessary stress of putting her in a cage every weekend and driving her to Petco to be shown to people as if she was in a circus and then deny their applications for adoption is better than my nice loving PERFECT home that they haven’t even visited despite me telling them that they're welcomed to see. They’re doing a disservice to these animals. This is the reason for which many people go to breeders instead, which is the wrong way of getting an animal. Despite their good intentions, they’re not really looking for the best interest of their animals and they don't even realize it. Go straight to shelters of the humane society or shelters if you wish to adopt. And if you find abandoned cats, DO NOT TAKE THEM TO THIS ORGANIZATION. Take them directly to the humane society as they don't euthanatize cats and will find them a great home rather than being paraded every weekend for whatever this cult "feels" is the "perfect" home.
Wayne Gilchrist: Great rescue! Goes above and beyond to help cats and kittens.
Ryan: The representative was very rude and unprofessional. I would not deal with her ever again.
sweaterweathergirl: what time do you guys close?
Michael Drummond: Unreal expectations for adoptions
Paula Ackles: Wish I could rate it "0"
O Crikey: Ok
Charles Giles: We adopted Kodak December 18th and Mandy and Chris were wonderful and so is Kodak, he doesn’t leave my side and is an amazing buddy and a life long friend :)
Stephanie Lockhart: Incredibly disappointed in the lack of customer service here. I totally understand that this is a volunteer-based rescue, but the fact that there are loving families waiting to adopt who can't get a simple yes or no doesn't make sense to me. I put in an application two and a half weeks ago and have been getting the runaround via text. I keep getting told "I'll get back to you" and "Let me check on the status for you" and then I don't get a reply. I have tried to call the business phone number to speak to someone and no one will answer. I have called several times over the last few days. Leaving people hanging when animals need homes is just baffling to me.
Jeff Smith: Very nice girl's work here got my new kitty in and out very Prof flectional Hassel free.kitten put in loving home.
Peggy Van Norman: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Reliability,ResponsivenessThis is Cora. Her and her siblings were loved and raised ❤ by their foster mom.The people at the rescue are wonderful caring people.
SAM Martin: Absolutely unprofessional staff. From the moment we started talking about either fostering or adopting, we were talked down too and treated as though we were incompetent. Then when we did submit and application they made us feel like we had never owned pets before and again talked down to us. After finishing the application we waited the time period and heard nothing. We had to drive back to the petco to get answers only to be told we were not accepted due to have way over the limits on pets for our city. Which was, in fact, a lie. The city authorized more than we had even if we adopted the extra pet. Finally we were told they weren't comfortable with us adopting. So despite having certifications in pet grooming and being a certified dog trainer, we were denied adoption because they weren't comfortable with us. Clearly the ladies who run this rescue aren't truly looking for actually homing their cats. They more interested in being pretentious, judgmental and unwilling to work with people who actually want to give these pets good homes.
C. M.: Takes too long to get a reply to adopt a pet. By the time they do, the pet you inquired about its gone.
Tayler Lamb: Excellent rescue that does whatever it takes to find kitties the perfect home!!! ❤❤❤
Evangelia Mihail: Wonderful experience adopting my first kitten in November 2019. Debi Berkey was fantastic and very responsive. Helped me with everything I needed. Stayed on the phone with me while I ordered many things I needed from Chewy for little Oliver (Clyde). Picking him up from Petco was a breeze on adoption day. Everyone was so helpful and answered all of my questions and they helped me with all of the food I should buy. I’m so happy to have him. He’s been the perfect co-worker now that I work from home. He’s the best, cuddly little guy.
Jennifer Fox: Kris was absolutely wonderful helping my family find the perfect kitty! She responded quickly and went out of her way to make sure we were perfectly matched. It took a few tries to find the right one, and she was so kind and patient throughout the whole process. The foster mom was so great too! They were willing to meet us when and where worked best for us. We love our new baby! I highly recommend cat tail kitty rescue if you are looking for a new kitty!
mia kirschenheiter: Positive:Professionalism,ResponsivenessMy family adopted two kittens from Cat Tail Kitties Rescue just over a year ago and now we foster kittens through them looking for a forever home. All members of the group are helpful and are doing things that are the cats/kittens best interest. Love the rescue and will always adopt and foster through them!
Jill Sausser: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Reliability,ResponsivenessI adopted a great kitty from cat tail kitties, I was impressed by the adoption application. You can't find a more loving and caring rescue, the fosters put their whole heart and soul into the care and love of the kitty's they rescue ❣️
Brandi Lagodzinski: Visited Petco on Saturday 12/5/20 and filled out an application to adopt a kitten to include as a part of our family. I am waiting to hear back, was told it would take 1 day to get a call back. Not sure what the approval process is or the requirements they did not give much detail. This will be our first family pet lots of love and care to give. I saw several other people leave Petco with their adopted cats. Hoping we get a call back soon.
Brian Ohlrich: Went here expecting to meet the new member of our family, instead spent time filling out an adoption exam that judges whether it's acceptable for you to hold a cat or even adopt it. Instead of being able to bond and connect with a cat, we were sent away because of our inexperience with cats. This is discouraging for a loving family that would love to adopt a cat.

Ferndale Cat Shelter: what do users think?
Ace Clay: This was very good and clean place I took my daughter for her 18 birthday
Samone Rieberger: Went in to visit kitties. Paid 15 online as a donation. What a beautiful and loving setup this is. Never seen anything so kind to cats in 5 states! You park on the street and walk up. Many cats are in foster homes and you can submit an application online. Staff here are friendly, warm and personable. You can buy drinks or get free coffee or tea with 15 dollar donation. Very pleasant way to visit kitties ans donate even if you do not want to adopt.
Nadine El Masri: Boy free home Monday call me
Isis Sherman (ICE): Basically a really small warehouse with cats on one side of the facility for you to adopt or just hang around with and get some coffee. It's super cute though once you get in there in the employees tell you a lot about their cats that they have just to assure yours and the cats safety.
michelle Grant-Stemen: Amazing place with wonderful people
Mali: You can sit with the cats for a couple hours. If you see a cat you like you can sign up to adopt.
James Thompson: Really wonderful shelter. Left this place in tears, incredibly touching staff. Thank you for all you do.
Michelle McLane: The place to go if you're thinking about adopting a cat. I can't speak highly enough of the dedicated, caring crew at this place. I met my "little girl" at the Cafe. The Cafe is great because you get to meet the kitties. I really appreciated their vetting process, too, to ensure that my cat & I were a good match. They then offered lots of advice & support afterward for which I was grateful as a total cat newbie. We've had our little one for over a year now & we're doing great. Thanks, all!
Wildflower: I made a generous donation to a kitten's care at this shelter and didn't even get any acknowledgement or thank you for it. They took my money and ran! How disgusting!!! They should be ashamed of themselves!
Grim Lacy: everyone here is lovely. you can tell they really care about every cat they come across. will always support this place
Caroline Noel: So nice but too much paperwork
Marilynn Thomas: Fostered cats for them. They are extremely supportive of their fosters.
Aniut Rahim: Not changing my rating until I receive an email or a call back. Been almost a week since I reached out to them about adopting a kitty. We emailed them as well. They don't pick up calls either so we couldn't make an appointment. Surely they aren't busy 24/7 picking cat litter. It can't be that hard to check emails either. I'm kinda at a loss. I don't wanna rate them a 1 star because I never do so.
Kayla shaw: Positive:Professionalism
Tobi's Channel: I am very confused with Ferndale Cat Shelter's process of adoption. Our family visited the website and my daughters chose two single cats (unbonded). We then visited the Catfe and were told that one of the cats wasn't a good fit and that we should be looking at a bonded pair. We initially were recommended a bonded pair that was already pending adoption and had to search for another. We then had a Zoom meet and greet with two other cats we found at their foster home. We set up a physical meet and greet, but the worker assigned to help my adoption said, via text, that because my oldest would eventually move out, she didn't feel a bonded pair would fit and that the physical meet and greet was placed on hold. This back and forth is not good for my daughters and I am very frustrated with this process. My girls then found two separate cats that are not "bonded". Now, the same worker says that she could not adopt these cats or ANY cats to us because they will "become bonded eventually" after the Catfe and the worker suggested and pushed a bonded pair onto our family. I told the worker that my girls will not live with us forever, it would be 5 to 10 years down the line. The worker stated they did not feel comfortable adopting to our family because of changing answers on our part. I also said that I feel this is a case of discrimination and for her to cease contacting me further. I am very sad that I have to disappoint my girls, again! I do NOT recommend adopting or supporting FCS. I am choosing one star because I can't rate any lower.
Philip DelGrosso: They went above and beyond to help me out in a stressful situation. My beloved unneutered cat Luigi escaped by accident and I thought he was lost forever they came and set a trap with a camera for him but that did not work however i kept leaving food out for him to keep him in the area. 2 weeks went by and thought is was hopeless but lo ad behold when I pulled into my driveway he was in my garage I was able to trap him. I contacted FCS they came and put him in his cat carrier something I was unable to do picked him up and held him in their shelter until the vet was able to neuter him. And even dropped him off back to me. They went above and beyond to help me out of a stressful situation. Highly recommended!!!
David Wohlgemuth: Dedicated and friendly staff ensuring that our feline friends are well placed and cared for!
Joan Kacir: I LOVE FCS!! I adopted 2 babies from them last year and one more this month. They are compassionate, generous & so knowledgeable about cats. The volunteers that are there are amazing! And the founder Deanne is a cat loving version of Mother Theresa. I wish them much success as they continue to make a difference… one cat at a time!! 😻
Melissa-Rae W: Adopted my one eyed wonder, Wink a few years back. They were wonderful with the adoption process and made bringing her over to Canada easy. ❤️🙏🏻
Marne McGrath: I have 'forever fostered' Lilly, a senior diabetic kitty, for Ferndale Cat Shelter for the past five and a half years. Everyone who I've worked with has been compassionate, kind, and dedicated to helping as many cats as possible. These folks have taken on an insurmountable challenge and do it with grace. If you're looking for a kitty to adopt FCS should be your first stop. They truly care about the quality of life for each cat who passes through their doors.
