Matt P.: I had Richard Vaughn rebuild a chimney on my home last summer. He was very thorough in explaining the work that would be performed for the provided estimate. The home was built in 1923 so he explained that brick sizes were different than today and he would need to use reclaimed brick, which is not something other contractors had pointed out.The reclaimed brick Richard selected was excellent and matches the age of our home nicely. He was in and out in one day and cleaned up the worksite very well. I had a roof leak that was likely caused by another area a few months later but called Richard to check the flashing on the chimney just in case. He came out and inspected the chimney, added sealant to a couple of areas and then even performed some routine sealing around a separate chimney for my wood stove, all at no additional cost.The cost of the job was a bit higher than other estimates but the end result and customer service were fantastic. You do get what you pay for with Vaughn Home Improvement.

The office staff recommended a fireplace, glass rock and pilot cleaning. We scheduled it for yesterday from 1-6pm, Pete showed up at 5:45 and said he was here to do an estimate. We informed him it was for the cleaning and he responded that he did not have the supplies on his truck. He explained that the cleaning took a minimum of 2 hours and to reschedule with the office in the morning. I called the office this morning and spoke to Marissa. Thomas Calcaterra: Stay away from Dr. Sweep. I had them do some repair work two years ago on the chimney cap and flues. They sealed off the furnace flue instead of the abandoned one. During the winter we noticed ice build-up and staining on the face of the chimney. Not knowing what was going on, I contacted them about the situation. When they came out, they realized what they did and unsealed the flue. We were very lucky exhaust gas didn't back up into the house. They said they would take care of the problems. They installed a chimney liner and tried to remove the staining on the chimney brick. The stain wouldn't come out, so they tried sealing it as a means of hiding it. My chimney is very large and located on the front of the house, very visible and integral to the design. The stain covers most of the chimney. For the next year it wasn't great, but acceptable. Then this summer the staining reappeared. I contacted them again about the stain. On August 5th, the owner came out to inspect it and wasn't sure how to repair it. He stated he would do what he had to do to make it right. He said he would try to file a claim with the insurance to re-brick it. One of the problems with this company is how the insurance is set up. They treat their employees as sub-contractors and they are insured separately. He would have to go after the employee's insurance, not Dr. Sweep's. He stated he would call me back later that day. He didn’t and It's now the middle of October. I’ve called him couple of time and he never answered or called back. I also called his office and was just given lip service, the line was, “We’ll call you in a couple days” and nothing. I've been very patient for two years with this company and this is how they treat a customer. I mistakenly thought the owner was a decent guy, boy was I wrong. Do yourself a favor and go with another company.

They contacted me the day of and said multiple cancellations could allow them to come earlier, naturally we said yes.After arriving at my home (my wife was home and I was working) she told me the car was unmarked and had a completely different name “Busbe” with Atlanta GA under the name 🤔. They may outsource but that’s something you should advertise.They showed up for approximately 10-12 minutes and immediately told my wife the gaskets blew. They contacted me and explained they need to get a replacement and call me back.They eventually called back and the gentleman said “I’m sorry this is embarrassing, we only have three cars and they’re all very old” reasons to believe they don’t outsource or something sketchy is going on. He said they can get me in first thing next morning. Called me again and said that won’t happen due to major repairs so the main offices will call me back to get me in for a future appointment.Home offices never called back.The service tech never called back.Unprofessional, really questionable services, outdated and unmarked equipment, and the entire process just seemed really off.Stay away from “Dr. Sweep” find a legit company. Not worth it.
