Melissa Wilson: I cannot recommend this company for a fence. They talk up the warranty, but when it comes time to use it even for a quick job they will not follow through. Overall good points were the person quoting was friendly and the installers were friendly and efficient.The part that warrants the 1 star, is the owner's abrasive attitude to the customers. Also, they talk up their warranty but when you call them, they will find a way out of resolving the issue. In our case, one side of the gate has dropped 2-3 inches in a little over a 1 year of being installed. This may be due to the fact they installed it in the winter or just didn't tighten something up. I have seen neighbor's fence gates not move and they are about to the end of their projected life. We are told that this is a quick fix and to resolve it ourselves. All we asked was that if it is a quick fix, why don't they send someone out when they are on their way to another job? Whoever was on the phone early yesterday morning sounded like they woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Monday’s aren’t for everybody I guess. But doesn’t matter anyway. The quote was provided quickly and after meeting with other companies, we knew this was the company to hire. A little over 20,000 I was charged to have this done only to end up having to do it my self. Fence was straight as an arrow watched every step of the process they were very professional disassembled chain link fence installed vinyl in place of it . They followed my directions to a q. all holes dug to necessary depths/ code. They had professional equipment necessary to install the job again were very professional and courteous I would highly recommend this company. If I had one complaint it is "scheduling" was 10 weeks out and install dates were changed a few times due to weather and other delays but that's probably because of the quality of work they do. Not sure the current rates I thought the prices was reasonable but more expensive then we anticipated comparing a similar vinyl fence done by another company we had done a few years back. but well worth the extra payment knowing the job was done correctly. Once the product came in they set up a start date and arrived promptly at 8 amOur old fence was in place for 30 years. It was collapsed on one side and grown through with gnarly shrubbery on the other. All that was removed and new fence completed in 2 short days. Cortez Redrick: Due to the pandemic hitting us delayed the installation of our fence which took almost a year to have it installed after the deposit was made. Several attempts were made to east side fence by means of telephone calls and emails, but they weren't very responsive when it came to that. I personally went to there office several times to ask how and when the fence will be installed but they stated that they were waiting on Signature Series Product to supply them with the material, although that company is just across the street from east side fence? I've spoken with Jason a couple of times and he explained the severity of why it's taking so long to receive our material and it was not just ours but other customers as well. After the fourth time going down there and speaking with Jason, I was instructed to go over to Signature and have a chat with them, and I did. with that being said I was accommodated with an upgrade on the rails that they did not have in stock so that the order could be completed with no extra cost to me. The crew came out and I was amazed as to how professional and sequential they were with the removal and installation of our fence. they were very polite and was able to install our fence in one day!!!! The only thing that is not professional is that they don't response to calls or emails on a timely manner, and the boss man, Scott I think that was his name, called in for reinforcements to have this job completed. The fence looks elegant to our property and some of the neighbors began asking questions as to how much the fence cost including my next door neighbor which I wish he could have gotten the quote that I requested for him then he could have been locked in before the price went sky rocketed. Rachel Inwald: Working with Eastside Fence was a nightmare. We chose them over a different company because our main priority was getting the fence installed as soon as possible. We were given an estimate of 8 weeks. It took over 5 months. I would call for an update periodically on when they thought it might be installed. They answered the phone maybe 1 out of 5 times and rarely returned my calls. When I did reach someone and requested a time estimate they told me to contact their supplier myself. I had already given a $1,000 deposit so was stuck with them.I finally got an email back that the fence would be installed in a couple of weeks. I was given a date, and confirmed it over the phone. I was told I would need to be home that day. I took that day off of work. Noon rolled around and there was no sign of the workers. I called and was told they were actually coming the following day because their schedule changed. I was upset, obviously, because taking off work is difficult and costly for me. All I wanted was for someone to notify me that the date had changed. I requested that they simply reimburse me for a day's work given I lost two entire days of income, the wrong gate was installed, and we waited several extra months. It took them 6 weeks to return my call, and said they couldn't do that (all the while talking down to me, saying my name over and over again like I wasn't comprehending what they were saying and being unreasonable - pretty infuriating).They were extremely overpriced, charging $2,000 for 20-something feet of PVC fence and a chainlink gate in a different area of the yard. I was told the chainlink gate would have a rubberized coating. It did not. The PVC fence shakes like it's going to fall over when my medium-size dog jumps on it. The posts were not installed with concrete.They were eager and friendly when they came out for the quote, but everything went to hell after that. Sharon Mitchell: BEWARE OF Great Lakes Fence; the are unethical price gouging crooks, I am a disabled senior citizen and called Great Lake Fence for an estimate to install a 5ft black chain link fence at my residence. Thank God I did my due diligence and got 3 estimates, only to learn Great Lake Fence’s estimate was over double the cost at $16,000, where the other 2 estimates came in a $6,000 and $6,800. I went with Kimberly Fence and they did a magnificent job.Stay away from Great Lake Fence as well as businesses displaying the Great Lake Fence emblem plate, unethical price gouging crooks think alike.

This company wants you to put up half of the cost (6000 dollars which I did) and 16 weeks later still no end in sight. I was told another few weeks. Aisha Jordan: I’m hoping the actual work I received was way better than the customer service I received.I was initially told I’d have a 4 week wait for my chain link fence install. Four weeks turned into seven weeks with NO COMMUNICATION. I had to call them to find out what was going on. I was told the poles would be set on one day and they showed up to my property on a different day unannounced. I was also told the actual fencing would be installed on a particular day and once again they show up unannounced on my property on a different day! The work is always sketched out and detailed on the estimate. How that crew was able to still install part of the fence incorrectly was beyond me! The crew also ruined my water hose & spigot hooking up their hose. It cost me $85 to get that fixed! The crew also felt it was ok to dump cement in my lot. The second crew which included one of the owners did rectify the fencing situation and cleaned up the cement. No apology was given from either owner though. I’m a customer they should have wanted to do a good job for as I need more fencing done next year. But they probably don’t care as i put more money in their pocket because a neighbor is using them for fencing as well. He was warned though! If you are going to use this company you better be at hone during all installs and watch them like a hawk! If not...they’ll end up costing you more money in addition to what you paid them!

P. Wheeler: An estimate for a fencing project was requested from this company. A person , TOM, OWNER I BELIEVE-, was informed upon the day he arrived for initial look at property, a property line survey had been scheduled and a clear estimate could not be a completed until the property lines were established. After the survey was complete TOM was scheduled for the next meeting, estimate, etc., instead he was a NO SHOW! When the company was contacted as to his arrival time, the person answering the telephone the phone replied that she didn't know where he was either. The next day I received a strange email of what appeared to contain legal disclosures, a chicken scratched ,handwritten drawing that was incomplete as he had not spoken with the homeowner as to the property line survey results and changes that had to be made thereof. When questioned about the estimate TOM*- believed - owner- HUNG UP ONE ME!!!! Thank goodness for, Better Business Bureau, and social media. I will execute all avenues, to inform of the treatment and emotional stress this caused the homeowner, a person of critically ill health.

John Vadalabene: This owner is a tool!!! Do not buy from this guy! Told me he would have my pipe cut and ready to go. Drove a half hour to his shop and he did not have the pipe ready. Got an attitude when I tried to use our non-profit's 38 number. Said I didn't have a mask and didn't want to do business with me. Really? What a lousy businessman.

Lori Hinderliter: I had fencing installed back in 2013 and was looking to have Modern do some more fence work. No I see they are not doing residential. Disappointing I will have to look for another company. I have been happy with the fence and gate for the last 7 yrs. They worked with me on how I wanted it installed and I have been happy with the results.

Time Traveled Video Store: First off, I want to say what a Great Company this truly is:) They do excellent work and build the best Cedar Panels / Chain Link Gates, that I have seen even to this day:) After reading most of these non-sense reviews, it truly shows the wants / needs of these disgusting people and summarizes on how a small business is suppose to deal with it on a day to day basis. Coming from customer service (let alone being a small business owner), its truly a disgrace how people can be / act when offered a great service or product, which exactly shows ALL of the negative responses! The owner Joe has a job to do. He works extensively hard in a packed 5 hour work day and for his sake (well being), does NOT have the time to offer you free Therapeutic practice for your "possible" $2.85 fence part! That being properly addressed, ignore the following other posts as this company truly goes beyond on doing a Great Job! Keep up the good work guys as you all deserve it:)

Jeff: Good materials and helpful people. We did the installation ourselves but they walked us through a lot of it and exchanged hardware as needed.

Adam Sheppard: Amazing this company has any business. Disgusting, rude.Update after their response:They refused to work with me at all. They belittled me when I spoke to them, and refused a refund. One of them sounded like he was on stimulants. When I threatened a law suit, they refunded my $20 purchase. These are swell people.

Brian Doyle: Very poor customer service! I spent over $6,000 on a privacy fence about ten years ago. They replaced a few posts last year that rotted. Cost $1600! This year I need a couple more replace, they won’t even do it. Apparently not doing residential anymore.They are never open, hard to get ahold of, and when you do talk to someone, no help at all. Even the fence they installed years ago was a problematic experience. Don’t even bother trying to use them. Even if you are a local Roseville business.

Dave Steele: . Customer service is non existent. Poorly installed gate. Had to get another company fence and discovered posts were not seated in cement or pea gravel. Stay away from them.

Shawn Nelson: Had them do a gate at two separate houses. Quality work, fair prices, and quick turn around from order to competed project. They use quality materials that don’t sag and look terrible in ten years.

Edward DHerde: I went in looking at some decorative fence solutions from the front of my home and the showed me better solutions than I was thinking of and were prompt and fair with the price and the installation was excellent and the price was highly competitive

Melek Kayser: WARNING! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I would seriously consider this advice and the other 1 star reviews as you make your decision in hiring a fence company, especially as there are no positive reviews to counter the dissatisfaction expressed in these reviews. Without going into details, we have documentation of a civil action versus Modern Fence Company in 2006 and their current response to my post would suggest caution in selecting a fence company.

Rachel Lewis: I have submitted the online request for an estimate 3 times and have never gotten a reply. It worries me to the point that I don't trust they'd ever come out to do the job since they ignore the request for an estimate. Due to my working hours it's difficult to call them before they close at 1pm every day.

Erin Hessling: Beware! They strung me along for 4 weeks saying their estimator would get back to me week after week. Once they did finally came out to measure, they never got back to me with an estimate. When I call to see what the number came in at, they said they wouldn't be able to take my job due to some commercial project they were working on. Now I have to start all over again and now all of the other companies are 4-5 weeks out since it's spring! I just moved into a new house with a toddler and dogs and desperately needed a fence and really wanted to give them business since they did such a good job at my last house. Now I will never work with them or refer them. They are absolutely unprofessional.

Dan: Had a gate and fence installed across driveway 3 years ago. Concrete around post close to home cracked and spalled after first winter. They put a bad patch on that cracked and spalled again after second winter. They refused to fix it correctly and no longer return my calls.Reply to owners comments: A two inch thick chunk breaking away is not a minor depression. The first time they “patched” it, I had to lend the guy my trowel because he didn’t have one! I kept the patch moist by wetting it and covering with plastic. Salt was not an issue so not sure why he mentions it other than an excuse for shoddy work.

Christopher Ryan: Hello. I had two small sections of fence installed 4-5 years ago. The owner, (owner's son?) was very accommodating. The cost seemed about average (a lot!). The man he sent out to do the work was rude and surly. He installed the gate to open in front of the garage. When I stopped by on my lunch, Mr. Impolite grumbled and switched it around leaving some unfilled holes in the post. (It still did not open in the direction I originally planned). Anyway, fast forward to now. The fence has heaved and slats have broken off. The tabs the hold the slats on are very weak. "Don't touch it! You'll break the fence! Don't hang a towel on it! You'll break the fence! are heard around the house all the time. I don't understand the heaving. Were the holes deep enough? I expressed the fact that the clay soil was prone to frost heaving at the time of the sale. I've done some research and shaping the hole as an inverted cone also called "belling the hole" reduces frost heave. Maybe they forgot to do this. On the positive side, at the same time they installed the vinyl fence they extended a chain link fence and added a gate on the other side of the house.
