Mason Golf & Golf Clinics: what do users think?
Lisa Vincent: Lindsey has been working with my daughter since early 2021 when she discovered her love of golf. He has not only transformed her game but he’s given her the confidence to go after her dreams. He is professional, patient, and goes the extra mile for his clients. If you’re looking for someone to teach you the game from beginning to end, regardless of your level of play, Mason Golf is the way to go. 10/10 would recommend!
Peter Hodge: Great guy! Very personable. Pointed out the swing issues I have/had and has definitely had an impact on my swing. Would definitely recommend him for improving your game.
James Holland: As a 1st time golfer at the age of 56 years old during Covid late June 2020, I feel in love with the TREMENDOUS GAME OF GOLF!!!! However, because it was my 1st time every really playing the game I knew I wanted to enhance my golf game. During December 2020 I took lessons for the 1st time. Not only did I took lessons, I took lessons from a Legend Golf Instructor Lindsey Mason. Coach Mason worked diligently with me to reach my goal of beating my buddies who had been golfing over 20+ years. Coach Mason gave me the knowledge, built up my confidence and definitely enhanced my golfing skllls where I was soon constantly beating my buddies. Because of an instructor like Coach Lindsey Mason I wish I would had started golfing as a teenager. However, it’s never too late to learn and get better. Coach Mason is truly a GREAT INSTRUCTOR!!!!!

Mason Golf & Golf Clinics: what do users think?
Eric Watkins: After trying on my own to fix my swing for over two years, I finally got to the point where I told myself I either needed to sell my clubs or get lessons. After only three sessions with Jim, I just posted my best round in over a year. The video analysis he provided of my swing at the start was very helpful. His instruction style is straightforward and easy to understand. And the practice facility at Pendleton is top notch. Thanks Jim!
Pam Wiegardt: I stumbled upon Jim Mason while checking out Pendelton Golf Club on the internet. Jim offered a one-time lesson that included a video of my swing. I thought that would be beneficial, and it was. However, the lesson itself was terrific, so I subsequently scheduled a 3-lesson package. Jim's analysis, expertise and teaching style was exactly what I needed to correct a few errors in my swing. I appreciated the simplicity of his teaching style. He patiently analyzed each swing and did not overload me with "technique." His feedback was 100% on target. I have hit the ball straight (one of my goals) since that first lesson. Jim taught me how to analyze my swing errors based on the ball's trajectory and its outcome. This has proved to be invaluable at the range and on the course. I am so glad I "accidentally" discovered Jim. He has a wealth of knowledge which he freely shares. Because my career/educational/teaching background is motor skills learning, I can, with good authority, recommend Jim as an outstanding golf skills teacher. He really "meets" the student on their level. The introductory reduced-price lesson is an invaluable way to try Jim out. If you are looking for a good teacher, you will return.
Lee & Bonnie Niemeyer: I signed my wife and myself up for golf lessons with Jim Mason based on little more than a Google search. Boy were we happy with our choice. Jim was super friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. His lessons focused on the fundamentals, and kept things simple. Most of all, we had fun, and we saw improvements each week. Our lessons included range instruction, pitching, chipping, sand traps, putting and actual playing time with course management at Pendleton. We were so pleased that we extended our lessons. Jim was very accommodating when scheduling each of the sessions. The package we chose was very reasonably priced considering the excellent instruction, free range balls, and discounted greens fees.
Allyson Flinn: Let me just preface this review by letting you all know that before my lessons with Jim, I had never used a golf club in my life. When we began lessons, we had to go all the way down to the basics because he was teaching someone brand new to the game. I am so happy I chose to get lessons from Jim, because man have I come so far since that first lesson! In just 4 lessons, I went from a complete beginner to someone who can now play 18 holes, while still having fun!Jim did such an amazing job by specializing on the different parts of the game for each lesson so I could focus on fine tuning my form and learning each part of the game. Not only is Jim so knowledgeable about the game, but you could tell he actually wanted to be out there teaching. It’s not everyday you find someone that is that knowledgeable who also has a passion for teaching others. He was always so upbeat and positive during the lessons, which really helped motivate me and get me through some of the mental blocks that come along with golfing. If you’re looking for an instructor, look no further than Jim Mason Golf Academy! You will not be disappointed!I cannot thank Jim enough for getting me to where I am today.
Mugeeb R. Mohammed: Excellent course clean and welled kept
Jeff Lanham: I have worked with Jim Mason for 3 golf seasons. When I was looking for instruction, I wanted someone who had felt the fire and pressure of playing in competition. Jim’s tour exposure fit that bill. His golf instruction has been wonderful. He has helped me return to form after an extended golf absence due to illness. We started by using his video system and analyzing my swing. This helped us determine where I needed to make swing adjustments and improvements. We developed a swing plan and worked on all aspects of my swing from full swing to putting. He is flexible with scheduling as I am driving from the West End of Richmond to work with him. He demonstrates and explains things clearly and concisely. He is friendly and patient as we make swing adjustments. I could not recommend Jim more highly and remain one of his students today. Working with Jim can help improve or recover your game. A big thumbs up here.As an added bonus, the practice facility at Pendelton Golf Club is superb. This facilitates improvement as well.
Bill Lyons: I have been taking golf lessons from Jim Mason for the last year. I highly endorse the lesson plan series that Jim teaches. His progressive golf lesson plan has helped me rectify thirty years of bad habits. The continuous improvement over the six golf lessons has rejuvenated my confidence and lowered my handicap. I definitely plan on continuing with another series of lessons.
Lance Durante: Golf Training at its best. I really wanted to learn the game of golf and fix my swing so I could get out and play on the course. Jim was very well organized and trained me across all areas of the game. Jim was patient with me as I needed to learn how to swing and play the game from the ground up. After training one day a week for several weeks, I am now able to play 9 or 18 holes and enjoy my time on the course. Jim thank you for all you have done for me.Lance D.
Eric Lough: I started taking lessons for golf after many frustrating years. Jim Mason at Pendelton Golf Club, is the teacher to go to. Jim worked with my swing and didn’t change it, he taught me the fundamentals of a golf swing. Jim covers all areas of the game of golf, the short game lesson was my favorite. My scores have started to come down and I’m having more fun! My vote is for “Jim Mason Golf Academy”. You won’t regret it, just do it. Aim small, miss small!
dawn huffman: Jim Mason is the BEST golf instructor. I recommend anyone who is considering lessons, no matter your skill level, to schedule time with him. His love for teaching the game of golf is apparent through his coaching techniques, calm demeanor, and reinforcing fist bumps. My tempo, form, and distance have significantly improved after only a handful of lessons. While I may appear frustrated at times (golf does that to ya) he is always ready to remind me of Rule #1: Have fun! He credits his students for their individual successes, but it is due mostly to his amazing coaching.

Gratiot Golf Center: what do users think?
Patrick Jackson: Not bad, good prices and friendly staff.
Darcy Hoyes: Fun place to practice during the winter. Al is the best golf instructor!
Daily Slice: Very nice facility with lots of fun options like the putt putt course. I like to go there and get a small bucket and get the clubs swinging. When gratiot isn’t under major construction. Just wish they would cut target greens with flags on the range for better shot placement accuracy. Overall for anyone who lives close by it’s a great option.
Dustin “D-Mak” Makowiec: Just an average place
Jeremy Pippin: Old put putt but still very fun
renatvs61: Putt-Putt golf course is in bad need of repairs and maintenance. Staff doesn't seem to know what is available for kids on the driving range. This place went down hill...
Tee. T Rozell: Always love it here. Just wish it was more trees for shade.
Alex Brauer: Great range!
wanda kunnert: nice driving range
William Boivin Jr: The Putt putt was Ok. The green platforms were in need of repair though.
Tim Berkesch: It was enjoyable playing miniature golf and then watching people on the practice tees.
Nathan Foondle: The only place I go to knock the snot out of a bunch of range balls. $12 bucks for a large basket of balls. Mats or natural turf with putt-putt! Construction is a nightmare on Gratiot Ave. but nearly complete.
George Spiteri: Just had a lesson with Pere Kingsley using their launch monitor. Pete does a great job explaining why things happen and helps to correct swing paths without recreating your natural motion. I have had many lesson from Alex Macko as well there and he too has been great. If you are a golfer, I'd highly recommend starting your season with a lesson to start your season on the right path!
Megan Jackson: Went last week. Staff not friendly kind of felt like a bother more then a customer. Also the landscape is horrible around the put put. Everything is over grown and some or it get in the way.
Joe: Great!
Anton Sugar: I grew up in this area and not only used the range and putt putt growing up but also worked there for a bit, a long time ago. Its a shame to see how the new owners run this place. Broken concrete under the mats, they have heated covered bays that they refuse to use due to cost in the colder months. And Im not sure if they are allergic to money or just dont understand basic business fundamentals, but they refuse to sell larger baskets of balls even an hour before closing. And they close at 730 in the summer. If it rains, they close while having covered bays. Its close to my house but I will never spend another dollar there. I'll drive out to Henriksens south in Sterling Heights.
DyJania Ward: Was very rude
Jason Grunenwald: 1.Stopped by on my way home, closed. An hour earlier than posted time.2. Stopped again, pretty busy, asked for a "jumbo" bucket, the kid behind the counter hands me a large, thinking he may not have heard me, I said "oh I'm sorry I meant jumbo", his response "today, that's a jumbo". It was nowhere near closing time.3. Third times a charm. Pulled in and while unloading clubs a woman comes out and asks me if I'm there to hit balls. "Yes", she responds "well we're slow right now now so we're only selling small buckets", I said "well I guess I'll take a small", she actually seemed disappointed that I was there for business, mind you a couple had arrived the same time. She locked the door after we walked in and proceeded to turn away three other customers an hour and a half before posted closing time. Never have I felt so unwelcome trying to give someone some business, a business in which they chose to operate.
Eric Dub: Dated facility although it appears improvements are being attempted. Friendly staff, decent prices.
Stephanie Sparks: Cute little place to take the kids to play Putt-puttIt is pretty outdated, painted chipped, and some really random fake animals around certain holes. But my kids had a blast either way
John: Great place to hit some golf balls. Putt putt for the family and it's affordable.

Royal Oak Golf Center: what do users think?
Hunter Dale: Took group lessons with Matt. He was a great instructor. Kept things simple. “Play bad golf good” Driving range is very nice. Covered tee’s for the rainy days. Hit balls, take lessons, play mini golf.
cal14th: Nice facility, both Left and Right Hand bays. Auto tees as well!
Zach rosario: I was verbally attacked by the employee Justin T. When I asked for the owners information he pointed to a rack of cards and said “it’s over there” he then came back out from his office a 2nd time & I asked him “do I just email Glenn A. Pulice the GM?” He said yes. As I was walking out of the building he again disrespected me but in front customers this time.
Tex: Fantastic golf range. Staff is always polite.
Madelyn King: It was busy today as to be expected but I only had to wait 20 minutes for an open mat.
Mike Misiak: Good range. Gotta get the net fixed
cat boi K: a tip for people: if you see a number on the things open it and pour your golf ball, thank me later.
Steve Walmsley: Great place to practice golf. Well run. Nice repair shop. Good instruction. Keep up the good work!
Julia Lupan: Great driving range with honest and kind staff! Went to let off some steam after work on 9/27 and took my ring off to hit some balls and forgot the ring behind. I called the next morning and Glenn and Rachel went to quickly look and found my ring right away! Also, the heating right above the bays is a very nice and appreciated feature here. Made it much more comfortable for me to hit in 50 degree weather. Will definitely be back!
Larry Barnes: Had the mini golf course to ourselves. It was nearing the end of the season so the water works weren't working.
Adam Jandura: Mini golf course is in need of some serious TLC. Nonfunctional water fixtures, dirt and debris everywhere, and pathways and fencing that are crumbling and falling apart really make it hard to believe their claim that this is "the most spectacular miniature golf course in Michigan."
Rick Van House: Mini golf is embarrassing for the city. Needs about $100,000 upgrade. Can't even blow the greens off. Water is full of moss and algae. Broken bricks everywhere. At least it's cheap.
Jonathon Casalou: Great practice tees.
Leigh Dobbs: Great driving range! I can drop off my tween/teen sons and they’re busy hitting balls for an hour while I go run errands in the area. They absolutely love it!!
Don G.: The Putt Putt course is in VERY VERY BAD condition, Looks the waterfall has not worked in very long time, so all the ponds that it flows into are filled with VERY NASTY standing water (Can Anyone Say West Nile Virus !!!). There is trash and debris laying around , the grounds are in disrepair and all this for $8.50 per adult. Looks like they remodeled driving range at the expense of totally ignoring the The PUTT PUTT course where families go for some fun. Don't waste your time or money, DOES NOT EVEN DESERVE 1 STAR
Christopher Harbourne: Nice driving range, automatic ball dispenser and adjustable automatic tees. Would rate higher but, for some reason, the putting area is ALWAYS closed, seemingly for no reason....
M Nelson: Showed up to play putt putt golf and I was discusted by the condition of the course during peak season.
nickmack: Showed up today very excited to hit my new Sim Max Driver I just got. Seeing that this place just so happens to be a DRIVING RANGE, thought it would be a good place to go, right? WRONG!!! I was promptly asked by management if I could stop using my driver because golf balls that were apparently all mine were going through the net, at the back of the DRIVING RANGE into the parking lot 250 yards away!!. You fix that problem, it's not going over the net obviously, I'm not hitting it 600 yards. Literally thought he was joking!! The place was absolutely packed like it usually is. How can you possibly single out me? I might accidentally hit it that far, which the trusty net should catch!! I'm not a great golfer by any means, which is hilarious that this banter even happened! I was only 16 shots into my bucket of 100. I'm not here to bash the place, I've been coming here for 30 years, but this is crazy!!. The facility is great and they have put a ton of money into it clearly. Seams like they need to get better netting, no clue how this is this my fault? Hitting a ball 250 yards into the net is not some crazy feat of strength. Oh wait......Maybe figure out where the holes are first before coming up to me. Maybe put up some "NO DRIVERS ALLOWED AT THE DRIVING RANGE" signs around the place (which would be laughable). People do come to the DRIVING RANGE just to hit their driver, it's not a crazy concept. Hopefully I don't hit too many homeruns at the batting cage next.
Jeffrey Martens: You close at 6 pm during the summer. Adorable.
Kristin Kelly: First time here and I had a great experience. I enjoyed it and even like it so I'm interested in learning how to golf.
Archana Deo: Will be back for more mini golf. This course was a little challenging for a change. Its in a great location. Its on your right when you get off woodward Ave immediately after the light. Keep looking at your right. The staff was super nice. Always had a smile and greeted everyone incoming super nicely. This place was packed tonight. Amazing crowd too! Everyone was having fun!
