Michelle Montgomery: I had a different opinion before but I think since the cost of living and groceries have gone up so high and no I receive no help for government assistance I am on a fixed budget and try too get help but they make it so hard and I am disabled and so I know I could get help but they give you such a hard time so when I can find a good market that is affordable and friendly most of the time sometimes you get some sarcastic employees they bring their bad day too work with them and take it out on their customers and one other thing they have no good deals and a very small selection of freezer goods so couple of improvements including cleaning a lil more it’s not the cleanest store I really like the value center on 10 n Hoover and on Harper n 16 mile very clean nice if they could make the Ryan store look like those Stores it would make it more pleasing too the eye and enjoy the saving’s thank you for your time

TimG reenhoot: University Foods carries a wide assortment of groceries. As in competing grocery stores, many brands here are nationally known, but this store offers more than a few products that you would expect in a specialty market.
Ess Cooper: The Hot food counter located at the entrance has some good food, shawarma, Fried Chicken, Pizza, Bread sticks, pasta salads, slaws, and more. Some local products, and your usual know brands throughout the store. Prices are high for a lot of items unless there's a sale. Check Cashing, and Bill payment.

Today I looking at the sale price for butter. 99 cent for 4 sticks. I thought what a steal. However, the expiration date was February 1. I told the owner, short older guy with glasses, he said this is why the butter is 99 cent. I thought food on the shelves after the expiration date was a no no. However, here that rule doesn't apply. What a shame the greed is endless.

I think this grocery store similar to the other store on E. Warren manages on the 'captive-audience' factor! People that go there cannot go elsewhere. I'd like to see more diverse options for their produce.

Dana Coleman: This online grocer is great. I live in Baltimore, but my brother lived in Detroit and was unable to shop for himself. We used FoodHome. and the partner it merged with - Groceries Express - for 5 years before he passed away. He would call me and I would place the order online using his grocery list. Both he and I were very pleased to know that he had healthy food delivered on demand to his doorstep. The quality of the food is as good and, in some cases, better than the regular grocery store. Their selection is broad enough that you can buy Michigan discount as well as national brands. And their other discount brands are just as good if not better than the national ones. I grew up in Michigan and Michigan brand foods are as good as they come. FoodHome delivers perishables that are fresh and taste good on the day of delivery. They never delivered anything that was over ripen or unripe. The don't pull switcheroos either in which you pay for the best and they substitute with a less desirable cheaper brand at the same cost. They are dependable in every way in that they 1) have a wide selection; 2) bring what you ordered; 3) offer good to high quality products; 4) arrive when they say they will; 5) and finally let you call ahead of delivery if you need to correct your order and - true to their word - it arrives corrected. For anyone who is homebound or taking care of a homebound relative in greater Detroit, this online grocer is tailor made for you and your loved ones. My brother lived in a distressed neighborhood that some commercial services have written off as not worth their time. Not FoodHome and Groceries Express. There were no unfair barriers to delivering to any home in the city of Detroit. In fact, their motto could be “We put no barriers on the quality of service we provide.” Detroit is lucky to have them serving the city. When our family used them, their delivery charge was so reasonable my brother was able to afford it on his meager Social Security income. They are just what Detroit needs. Keep up the good work FoodHome/Groceries Express. People do really appreciate all you do. Thx.
