Gateway Classic Cars of Detroit: what do users think?
Joe Chirillo: VERY RESPONSIVE, ACCOMMODATING TO MY REQUESTS GREAT TO WORK WITH!
william monette: The showroom is dirty and most of the cars are junk and way overpriced.
Don Saylor: Some pretty nice classic cars, with a changing inventory you have a good chance of finding something your interested in.
Deb Cancel: Great time at cars and coffee! Staff is awesome! Singer sweet casts for sale in the building. Looking forward to next car show!
Damien Williams: Bought a 1968 pontiac firebird here. Happy with the service
SaltyFryMageTv: Chrome and coffee event was honestly much better than I was expecting. I’m not huge into classics but they have some great pieces to show and Sell! For really reasonable prices! Would check out their car events if you’re ever in the area! :)
Joshua Bolanowski (BOLO62891_): No complaints at all I came in knowing exactly what car I wanted and they got me into it. The buying process was smooth and easy. Got a great running and good looking car couldn't be happier!!
Efrain De La Rosa: This is a wonderful place to visit. It's a museum and also a place where you can purchase anyone of those vehicles on display. Oh yes entrance to this great place is free.
Kevin Rowe: Lot's of cool cars big money
Lego history: Nice people and cars, but there overpriced.
Gerald McCarron: Very welcoming friendly folks. Beautiful cars. Great atmosphere
Tracie “Smith” Smith: Buyer beware indeed as the previous post applies to My 84 year old Father's purchase. While we realize as is, but, the owner had to have known the existing issues with the vehicle which were not disclosed to us in the final purchase. The vehicle arrived filthy inside, driver side window cracked, the heater hose not hooked up, as well as a leak in the from the water/fuel pump. Other issues too long to list. Highly disappointed with this purchase and the fact that my 84 year old Father is honest as they come and a fair business man. I feel that your company along with the owner has treated my Father in a deceitful way and not willing to take responsibility for the condition they falsely advertised the car to be in. With no disclosure of the actual condition. We are looking at another 5 grand in repair on top of the over paid price of this vehicle already paid. Shame on you.
Jimmy Bragg: Fine cars
ronald “Plumber Ron” brousseau: Gateway Classic Cars I've been on a website looking at your fine-looking chargers and roadrunners I am interested in buying a 1968 440 charger but I'm waiting for the price to drop some any way to look at the website you won't go wrong
Steve Mayich: Many classic and hot rods
Vman: Very polite and professional at the beginning. After looking at a vehicle a couple times, ready to make an offer, my dad and I asked to come back and see the vehicle outdoors for full review. Wanted to hear it run warmed up too. That was accepted. We agreed to call on a certain day. No answer. Left many messages and had no return calls. We still don’t understand what happened but I wonder if it’s the best place to sell a vehicle. We gathered the cash and were gonna pull the trigger. To bad for us and the seller.
Jeffrey Bees: I purchased a 2007 BMW 335i and was told that the automobile was inspected and was "mechanically sound". After I purchased and upon arriving home after a 3 hour drive and putting winter tires/rims on it I noticed 3 of 4 rims had cracks and one of the rims had a crack in a previous repair. I spoke with the agent who sold me the vehicle and also the customer service rep. and was told this was considered "cosmetic" damage and that I should have seen this in my inspection. Cracks in rims are a safety concern and can lead to blow outs and I would not have put this automobile in the category of "mechanically sound". Both the sales agent and customer service advocate were polite and replied promptly.EDIT 3/9/21 - Have driven the car for a few months, fixed most of the minor issues and updating my rating to 3 stars. Wouldn't have taken much to get it to a 5 star rating.
Jérôme ABECASSIS: Do not use this place .. they are really not professional. CrookThe manager shouldn’t work thereThe worth experience
Tommy Fritz: These guys are to high priced and not interested in selling anything. Smh
Heather Stock: My first experience owning a classic vehicle was with Gateway Classic at my service and I am truly disappointed. I was aware I was buying the vehicle AS IS Without Warranty, however, I was assured the seller must represent the vehicle honestly to Gateway and further that Gateway tests the vehicles and sells with the representation that their vehicles are in good working order as disclosed by the sellers. Well, the 1964 Ford F100 I purchased, not even a 100 miles in, the transmission has slipped. I only took this truck out 3 times. Twice for a short ride into town, and on the 3rd time for a nice Sunday drive 1 hour away on July 5th and that is when the transmission issue revealed itself. My transmission expert has informed me that the transmission has to be rebuilt. He further states that someone would have to have known about the transmission problem, this is not something that would have just happened, it would have been slipping for quite some time he says. So it’s only natural for us to assume the seller must have known about the problem, therefore, he misrepresented the vehicle when selling it through Gateway Classic Cars. In conclusion, BUYER BEWARE.Update: August 2020 - I spoke to Gateway Customer Service and they were not willing at all to help. I asked for their commission to be paid back to me to cover the cost of the transmission work. No they were not willing to do so.Update: October 2020 - Engine needs replacing and transmission redone. It's obvious the previous owner knew problems existed or were around the corner to soon reveal itself.
Joey D.: Gateway Classics Detroit was exceptional. Chelsea was knowledgeable, professional, and very interested in making sure I had all of the information on the car. This was one of the easiest buying experiences I have gone through. I really enjoyed the fact that the dealership was closed to the public and appointment based. This allowed me to not be distracted by tire kickers. I plan to buy more from Gateway.

Showdown Motors Inc.: what do users think?
Handler Pandler: I recently purchased a 1966 Dart from Showdown Auto. Dave was great to work with. After the sale he made sure everything was in working order with the car, put a final wax on it and even delivered it to my house. I would highly recommend them if you're in the market for a classic car or truck.
Matthew Williams: Great cars a little pricey
Terrance Sweeney: I'd like to share our experience my wife and I had recently with Dave at Showdown Auto Sales Fraser.Nothing but excellent!I have been in the Old Car hobby for the better part of my life and would recommend them to anyone looking for a collector car. We found them to be 1st rate and very honest. We are very happy with our 1985 ChevroletCamaro Z/28 purchased from Showdown Auto Sales
Russell Corley: If you are looking for a vintage car or truck, take a look at Showdown Motors website and check out there selection of well maintained vehicles at a reasonable price.
Dede Williams: Just left this place they told us we look or touch anything because we're not white. They treated us so wrong now. My DAUGHTERS ARE now saying all white people are racist thanks but no thanks
Rob Baran: Dave and Sonny are very responsive and helpful. I’m a novice when it comes to muscle/classic cars. Add the fact that I’m about 30 miles outside of Philly and had to rely completely on pictures and the descriptions that Dave provided. I wire transferred a significant sum of money (that’s a little nerve racking) and then waited for delivery. I could not be happier my 1968 Mercury Cougar! Buy with confidence. Thanks guys!
Davidk460: I had a great experience with Showdown Motors. I bought my car after looking at photos and talking to Dave. I did not get to personally check the car out but, I am very pleased with it. I would purchase from them again!
Ronald Edelson: I recently bought a 1963 bonneville from Dave at Showdown. He was a pleasure to work with. The car was exactly as he represented and the prices are very fair. I bought the car from online photos and FaceTime with Dave. He even got me a better price on shipping than I could find on my own. All the paperwork was simple to complete. When the car arrived it absolutely took my breath away!Showdown has been selling classic cars for many years and their excellent reviews and reputation are well deserved. I would buy again from Showdown with confidence!
John Singleton: Dave, I can't explain my gratitude towards you in working with me on the purchase of my dream car. You didn't hide any flaws that the were, totally honest in you description, although there were some hiccups on transport, it was nothing that you had to do with, but you are such an upstanding person you stayed after hours to insure that the carrier made safe pick-up and delivery, I would not hesitate to make another purchase from you, I'd just go with other routes of transport.....my wife and I are sooooo very pleased with our 55 chevy, words cannot explain, again, thank you very much with our first cross country purchase.
Mike Buggs: They know their business well. Thank you.
John Quick: awesome cars good prices and friendly service
Science Discoverys Animal Encounter Shows: Great place!
Mark Trammell: Bought a VW thing from Showdown had it shiped to OK no inspection bought it site unseen pictures showed it to look good trusted Daves word on condition etc. Reliable delivered it i was blow away it was every thing Dave said it was if not better.Would buy again and trust Dave 100% .Thanks Showdown i love my thing!!!!!!
Duane Spencer: Dave advertised a 1965 GTO for sale on his website with a price of $45,900. I called on it and he told me that he didn’t have it in his possession yet. I called back a few days later and he told me he still didn’t have it yet. I left him my name and number for him to call me when he got it in. I called back a week later, still no car. Dave told me that he would call me when he got it in. I called 2 more times. After three weeks of calling about this car I finally saw some different pictures of it on his website. I tried all day to contact him. Left 2 voicemails on his phone. No reply. The next day I called him again, and he finally answered just to tell me that the car had sold the previous day. To me that is unprofessional, to not even give me a call when he got it in or even the decency to call me after it had sold. I will never recommend his dealership to anyone.
Bill Fisher Google guide level seven: If you want a fast car. Or an old car fixed up hot rods this is the place to go. I got everything. All you need is the money.
Matt Wolf: They're only open for appointments!
Frank Antonucci: I began doing doing business with Dave Collier in 1996 at Showdown. He is honest and upfront with his clients. He has sold many of previously owned show and classic cars . Thank you Dave Collier for your integrity.
Lisa Howe: We had a special tour during the Woodward dream cruise weekend, Thank you from all of us at The Golden Horseshoe Mustang club, Very Friendly and Definately worth a visit!
Edith Class: Last week, for the 2nd time around my husband found a car he liked, Justin was good enough to let us test drive it when we told him we droved 51/2 hours , found a few things that need to be done , and made a list ,Justin agree to fix it , put down payment more than he ask for ,came back a few days after to pick up the car he knows My husband was coming ,he got all the list mark check ,meaning done and fix right ? trusted him! got home the next day and drive for 10-15 min found out that nothing got fix, but one thing , the speedometer ,I was not happy at all, this is my husband 2nd car bought from them I don’t think I will let him go for the third times after all this happened,😥 my husband been working on it since the day he brought it home and still not done 😞 putting more money in it 😥
J Provenzano: If your willing pay concours d'elegance prices best wear blinders or rose colored glasses and bring your throw away baby boomer cash, do not buy any car unless you can test drive it and have a complete inspection.
Ron Singer: Some prices a bit high
