Macomb Montessori Academy: what do users think?
Brenda Staton: I love them so much especially Ms.Kelly she knows all the children name. They really love and teach them babies lots of things. They grow plants and even make robots.
Ciera Reed: Worst school to send child to. There's alot of bullying in the school from kids in also adults. My child comes home everyday telling what the teachers and kids are saying to her i address the school nothing changed
Kellie King (Detroit Atheist Queen): Need to have totally transformation. Not enough stability
tiffanyburton1986: Worst school my children ever went to

Four Corners Montessori Academy: what do users think?
Londyn Jones: Im excited for hs.. thats all I gotta say
Tristen Paavo: Eh
Zayden Gaines: It's alright
Samanthe Jordan: here and there are still quite a few things i would like to change but overall i made alot of friends and i will remember forever.
Kendra Bennett: The food is.... pretty bad, but other than that it's a pretty good school!
Five Souls: ok
Nugget Man: this school is amazing!
Fay Fujii: Absolute trash school. Don't go here. All of my years here were terrible and I could never express myself. Terrible, and I MEAN terrible, mental health support. Definitely don't recommend.
Amanda Konopaska: FCMA depicts an ideal Montessori environment. The teachers prepare their classrooms for the children and they are inviting and entice children to make choices in their learning.
xelerz: they blocked spotify and youtube which we need youtube for learning
Edward Durbin: could be better.
BattleKing OVER9000: Former student graduating from the year of 2016-2017 here, I have considered writing this for a while and wanted to collect my thoughts about it for a bit, I am not sure if the school is still like it is today, who knows, it could have improved, but from what I heard from students who left after I am not 100% sure.Lower ElementaryI thought Lower Elementary was alright, I was in the Sassafras room 2009-2011 I think, I do not really remember. I didn't really have a lot of friends at the time, the friends I did have didn't really actually like me and probably just had me around to make fun of me. Where this isn't really the schools fault, the teachers never really did anything about it, and when they did they would choose to blame everyone involved, and never really cared to hear out everything that happened. And I would always get in trouble because I would be in the middle of other students beating me up, or fighting back and getting in trouble. And the teachers didn't really understand that kids sometimes have issues with making friends and get in the wrong crowds. But the way they taught was pretty innovative and unique, and I liked that a lot. We would do more hands on tasks and I think it was a lot better for me then traditional learning.Upper ElementaryUpper Elementary was probably the best part of the school for me, I started to make more friends and I really liked my first teacher Ms. Shannon, she was really nice and understanding, unfortunately she left a year later. The way they taught was roughly the same, and I liked that. Even after Ms. Shannon left, I still liked my teachers a lot, and I felt that they really took into consideration the feelings of the students. The only complaint I really have is that I still don't really think the teachers really knew how to handle things with other students, and were very strict about phone policies, and you would often get in trouble for little scenarios like trying to contact your parents during an emergency. Overall though, the Upper Elementary was very enjoyable for me.Middle SchoolOh boy, here we have the big one. If I could give the Middle School individual stars, I would give the Middle School 1 star. I hated the Middle School, and I would recommend that after Upper Elementary school you take your student out and take them to traditional school, I don't really even think the Montessori format really works past Elementary School, you need to go to Traditional School after this point to get a grasp on what the real world is, because this doesn't prepare you for life at all. We would do Math in a different way then traditional school and do "Courses", you're placed in a Course dependent on what your math skills are, Course 1 = Behind in Math, Course 2 = 7th grade math, and Course 3 = 8th grade math. I was placed in Course 2 in 7th and 8th grade, and went into high school not knowing anything that's going on because I never went into Course 3, and barely passed Algebra 1 due to not knowing anything I should know. Most of the assignments we did were just repeats of previously assignments, not really gaining any new knowledge, and just repeating previous knowledge. And repeats the previous problem of teachers not really understanding what's going on, and making it worse. I got in trouble and was suspended for 2 weeks and taken off a school trip for something that had no proof to it, which is pretty unfair since the trip was Chicago. The school didn't have an actual playground, and sometimes we would make up for it by going to Rosie's Park, and often there would be this one student who would misbehave, and it would cause the whole class to have to wait, and we would only get five minutes worth of recess time pretty much everyday, I understand that not every school even has the luxury of recess in the first place during Middle School, but it's unfair to be offered something and have it taken away just because one student decided he wanted to be a jerk that day.
Cathy Guzman: My son has improved his math skills because of the awesome math teacher that he has at Four corners. She is so sweet and kind with the kids and has a lot of patience. My son’s teachers are passionate about teaching their students and work hard to make sure the students are academically succeeding. During this pandemic, the teachers have worked hard to do their best in creating a stable schedule and provide as much help as they can to my son and his classmates online. I can see that the teachers not only care about the success of the students, they also care about their emotional and mental well being during the pandemic.Thank you Four corners
Loving mother of 12: At first I was hesitant to bring my kids here to due certain poor reviews but upon farther inspection, I noticed that Big Tickle the chubby cheek slow talking handsome devil indeed attended the school himself. I am overjoyed to hear that FCMA to this day continues to support Big Tickle and his production team.
Elise Hibbard: Could not ask for a more supportive, enriching learning environment for my kids. They are thriving. The teachers are amazing!! My oldest has been in a traditional public school prior to this school and the difference is night and day. Peaceful environment (I mean, they are kids, they get a little hyper from time to time, but the teachers have amazing ways of handling it and reeling the kids back in, teaching them respectful classroom behavior, etc)Would recommend this school a million times over. So so so so so glad we are there, wish they had a highschool!!!!!
Møichii Dreäms: It's a great school, it's very Hands on And Organized.
Ooga Booga: This year was a complete downgrade. I URGE you to never send your kids here, aswell as never go on the school grounds as it's a hell. The only way they could possibly save this middle school is to hire the old middle school teachers. Oh, and they fired them for no reason.Former Student,Ben Dover
Ben Dover: This is coming from a student in the Middle School. This place is a very loud unsafe enviroment. We had to leave the pod due to some mold. They moved us to a gym. Now to a College Campus. Its scary when hipsters walk around talking about hipster stuff. One time i saw a college student with a fedora. But to the middle school. The teachers do not know how to teach. We made one leave us because she was so stressed. Now shes replaced by an old crabby lady. This lady likes taking phones so much she has a graph on days and times of taking phones. One thing i will say is DO NOT COME HERE.
Mann E.L.: Such a wonderful sense of community. The leaders the office staff the teachers ... and all of the school helpers are wonderful. I am so thankful to be apart of the school. I look forward to my children completing all eight years here. If you are looking for a kind and caring environment with wonderful students and staff this is the place.
Hello Hello: DO NOT go to this school, it's a death trap you'll never escape. The teachers are rude and don't understand you're situations. See I just play runescape everyday and they denied that ability when I was playing it in class. I'm very scared.
michael owo: I go here lol

Montessori Children's Academy: what do users think?
Maria Wilson: All three of my children attended MCA. One even did the toddler program as well. The other 2 left after the primary program starting their new school in 1st grade. I absolutely loved it at Montessori Children’s Academy. The school provided structure kids need but allowed for creativity and wonder to occur everyday. It was well managed and the parents were well informed and supported. My kids were given an excellent education but beyond that they were taught about having good character traits, about respecting others and the environment. They were nurtured, encouraged, supported and inspired. My kids are now in 5th, 9th & 11th. All of them have consistently had state MAP (MEAP) scores that are well above average as well as high GPA’s. We are now looking at Harvard & MIT for my oldest. Moreover, they are inquisitive, creative and resourceful which I feel is due to the nature of Montessori training. Montessori I believe encourages the children to try new things, to do what inspires you and together with staff like Mrs Ianuzzi & Mrs Lee help guide them from an interest to a mastery in areas of learning. Their teaching was well rounded to not just learn numbers, colors, shapes etc like most preschools but to learn botany, practical like skills, geography, environmental sustainability, etc too. They really flourished. They learned to have a love of: learning, of trying new things and problem solving. I am truly grateful that my kids has the opportunity to attend Montessori Children’s Academy.Updated 11/2021:I thought I’d give an update. My oldest child is now in MIT (a school that is the top for computer science and has an only 4% acceptance rate), my second child is a straight A student bound for a top university and the youngest is a 4.1 gpa student who was promoted and skipped the 5th grade. They are all inquisitive, dedicated learners. I am forever grateful for the incredible foundation that the Montessori education and MCA staff provided. They instill a love of learning that stays with them for a lifetime.
John Christopher: Great school
Tom Bushe: The staff and owner have been excellent with my daughter!! I highly recommend this program and this particular school.
Holly Snively: Sending our daughter here was the best decision we have made! The staff cares so much about the children and follow true Montessori principles.
Maria Carla Eusebio-Pinili: True Montessori. The only montessori school certified by AMI - American Montessori Internationale in Southeast Michigan
Adam Allulu: It's a great school you should send your child

Heidi Hamilton: DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE! They will take your money and run! Unstaffed and underfunded. Why pay so much for an education your child is not receiving. Lets not fail to mention the lack of communication from the administration and certification. This is not a true certified Montessori school and they will ignore your emails and concerns.
Frances Allegrina: The early learning years are crucial. As a grandmother I recommend them. Both of my grandchildren have attended Oxford Academy as toddlers and preschool. They loved the learning, and are more well rounded people. They learned cooperative work and being considerate in this loving atmosphere. They were always happy to be there. Both of them are now excelling academically. I wish public schools would do this!
Royce Claydon: Waste your money here
sami banna: Great school overall. You can expect your child to be challenged and excel academically. Small class sizes is wonderful and leads to more small group and one on one if needed. Both my daughters attend this school and Ms. Liz and Ms. Judy are great teachers and work hard to help the students reach their potential. Ms. Natasha is an amazing teacher! She helped my daughter excel in reading and math and maintained daily communication with me regarding her progress (very hard to find in other schools) she is genuine and truly cares about her students. I don't think my daughter would have made the progress this year without the help of Ms. Natasha! If you are looking for great, nurturing teachers, Oxford is the school for you!
al kola: Unsatisfied Waste of your money

Melissa Terry: I really liked the program here they are really advanced compared to other daycares but one day my 2 year old daughter came home and casually told me that her teacher ms b “popped” her nose. I reported to principal ms s who said she asked the teacher, who denied the claims (of course) and she said she had cameras but didn’t know how to work them. Due to her lack of investigation I called cps and reported the teacher. It wasn’t a personal attack on ms s I just felt like she blew off the investigation and I wanted somebody to look into it. (And to be fair the school would do the same if the tables were turned).Fast forward I heard from a friend that ms b no longer works for the school, I wanted to re enroll my daughter back in because I felt like the school I put her in was academically slower, but they won’t take her back they said because we almost cost her liscense no accountability for herself or ms b but a baby’s fault. And note till this day i never cussed this lady out I never accused her of lying all I asked was for her to investigate.
Cameron Fields: This daycare is by far the best in the city! The ownership and staff here is nothing short of amazing would recommend to any parents looking for a daycare with an excellent curriculum
Shirletha Alberty: Family orantated My children love it there and I do too well rounded
Qwentina Jones: Highly recommend! The students are educated very well, they are encouraged to use positive words, very clean, safe, and has a family feel.
Taylor Fields: Best daycare center in the Detroit area. My child has learned so much

Jeannette Battisti: When I first looked into this school I thought it was a great place. My son has ADHD as well as ODD and the director after hearing about my son was like we will get through the year whether it takes blood, sweat or tears. I was like awesome, this place will work with him. They put him into the classroom close to the office like we discussed. Then my sons issues started and they promised me they would bring in people to do an assessment and behavior plan after Xmas. Got to the meeting that included the teacher and director and they made a behavior plan, this was also when they decided my son could go back to school full time since they had cut him down to half days at that point. Well the end of the year comes and licensing was called and they were in violation because they didn't have a note from any Dr or Physician saying they could restrain my son so they kicked him out. They didn't allow him to finish the last 2 weeks, didn't invite him back for graduation or anything. All because they screwed up on the behavior plan and didn't follow the licensing rules which a normal parent doesn't know. The building also has so many issues. The kids had to wear coats in the winter some days because it was freezing, the next day it would be overly hot the kids would be red and sweaty. I don't know how many days during the winter the windows were open to cool the school off. Next the parking lot is filled with such potholes and chunks of asphalt I am shocked no one busted a tire. The teacher near the end of the year would also email me daily telling me what a wonderful father my son had because he would come to the school on a daily basis, a man who is on the child abuse registry hanging out with the classroom.I will never recommend this place to anyone nor ever have anything to do with this place again. Parents beware if you have any kind of child that has needs.
Shy Chinita: wow this is exactly the same name with the preschool in the Philippines. It was founded 12 years ago.
Tina Jacobson: A fantastic PK. My child advanced by leaps and bounds after being enrolled last year. It was literally a second home for him where he was cared for. A great, nurturing learning environment. Ill be sending my younger children when the time comes.

Saranya Sowri: We had the best experience at MCA for my 4 year old kid Sahana kowsik. She has developed tremendously as this is her 1st preschool after daycare and 1 year of break at home due to pandemic, we would be thankful to Ms. Smita and Ms. Waafa for showing her and other children all love and the care they needed. All the staffs are so loving and caring special mention to Ms. Smita,Ms. Waafa,Ms.Aari,Ms.Thomas, Ms.Nancy,Ms.Chris,Ms.Reni,Ms. Allyson. We had to relocate to sandiego couple of weeks ago but my kid keeps saying about her classroom friends and teachers 24×7 and says wants to go back to MCA after she comes from school she would enact and play her classroom scenarios with her soft toys as her friends, herself and me as Ms.Smita and Ms.Waafa. She loves her classmates and Ms.Smita and Ms.Waafa as they do so. Even I am so addicted to talk and play with my kid about her classroom. The best thing happened in her life is being a MCA student, I wish I had known about this place earlier and enrolled her from toddler program itself as they're in practice for more than 15yrs. We had to relocate otherwise she would be still going to Ms.Smita's classroom at MCA. My kid loves the place and the gift letters given to her from her friends and school. Ms.Smita has so much positivity and ever smiling face which influences the kids that even I take her as an example on this is how I need to be with my kid. Their education methodology is the best around Detroit as my kid was attending couple of daycares around until she was 3, I can compare her learning and behavioral development after going to MCA. Most importantly teaching is based on montessori methodology through activities taught to kids with love and care. She's eating by herself now thanks to Ms. Smita,Ms. Waafa and Ms. Nancy. Thanks to Ms. Aari for teaching spanish and engaging the kids with the exercise song and dance moves. My kid perfectly teaches us that song since beginning. She recently started full-time just for 3 weeks before our move and enjoyed time with Ms. Chris arts and crafts classes. Overall MCA is the best thing happened to my kid and us in Detroit and Ms.Smita's classroom is the only thing we miss now. Lots of love to you MCA, Ms. Smita, Ms. Waafa and all the classroom friends(its a big list to write their names) from Sahana, I am hopeful that she will always remember all of you as this is her 1st school experience. Thanks to Ms. Thomas and MCA office for giving Sahana an opportunity(enrollment) to be a MCA student.
Apurva Bhide: Great place if you believe in Montessori philosophy
Naveen Nishanth: First daycare for my daughter. The staff were friendly and amazing. Direct interactions with teacher during pickup and drop off was really helpful. 100% recommend this place
Wafaa Kama: It is the best place to have your kids go toDedicated staff membersGood quality education
MCREST Homeless Shelter: The owner and staff are always very kind and helpful. Their love and care for children and those less fortunate exceeds all expectations. Thank you for being there and for being great role models for our children.
Sangeeta: Not chaotic like my other daycare.
Nithya Gopalan: Teachers here are the best, have great patience to listen to each kid. Love this school which gave a transformation to my child. They are the best compared to any schools!

Starting Point Montessori School: what do users think?
Mrs. Independent: This school and the women who run it are condescending, rude, disrespectful, unprofessional and need to be replaced. They have no type of common courtesy or sense really when it comes down to dealing with urgent matters or even helping families with matters involving the school. It's their way or bo way and they don't give a d*mn if the kids are affected while doing so. They only care about the money. Then they will also take your money and if you speak up about anything they will threaten to kick your child out without a refund. They claim to not have anyone over the school and only the principal is allowed to talk to parents. If anyone knows, there is ALWAYS someone over a principal. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE!!!!!!!
Tiera Turner: I signed my son up to attend this institution, in the hopes for growth and success in his development, but after 3 days they kicked my 2 year old son out. The lack of patience and communication, on the institutions behalf, is limited. They gave up on my child after 3 days; didn’t even give him a full week. Also, only gave a partial refund when stated otherwise.Highly disappointed.
Allante Taylor: This School is a golden gem,I am very selective about my children education I have 2 kids who attend and they have helped my daughter with not just her education but her self esteem,You will notice 95 % of the negative comments surround "money", there is even a comment that states "the education is great but the price is high".My daughter knows so much my son knows words I didn't even know lol...so my recommendation is if you want the BEST education for your kid including culture send them here, if the fees are concerning just ask what all in total you will be spending then ask for small arrangements, like I did. Other than that the school defeats ANY other school I researched for my 2 young Black Children!!
Blanche Jenkins: The teachers are Awesome! My Grandson received an excellent education!
J Marie: So where do I begin..Starting point Montessori will make sure that your child is brilliant. There’s no doubt about that. They have a strong curriculum and from a young age are taught structure and discipline with lots of love. So, why do I give this place two stars?I’ve had several issues with the school secretary. She has since apologized but after having yet another issue with them refusing to provide me with the school tax Id number for taxes, I’d never bring my son back or recommend it.The biggest incident was when they assumed my child was sick when he wasn’t. Because of this they refused to let him inside of the school. I simply asked to speak with the school director and was told that she’d be there later. I opted to wait for her and she literally called the police on me. I wasn’t hostile, I was confused and wanted to wait there with my child. I recorded the entire incident and even the school director couldn’t figure out why on earth she’d opt to call the police. I recorded the incident because I’d had issues with her attitude in the past and wanted to show Karen because it was ridiculous. I was sitting in the chair quiet and recorded her lying to the police saying that I was hostile lol.. but the entire time I was already recording before she even knew.So yea, there’s that. They also charge you fees for everything. They’re a strict school and if your child’s socks aren’t the color they want it to be they’ll fine you.The tuition is also very high.My son was 1.5 when he started the school so the strictness threw me off.Anyway, I feel like for the price they should be learning mandarin or Spanish and taking all sorts of extracurricular classes.I’m moving back home and have found a school that charges a similar rate and my child will learn everything I’ve just mentioned.So.. it’s a good school for the area. Again, the secretary apologized but... the issue could have been a lot worse.. as black women especially we should never ever call the police on another person out of some misplaced spite or annoyance. What if they’d had shown up like so many do and try to immediately hurt me, especially with my child present? We see it all of the time and watching someone blatantly lie to authorities for no reason was heartbreaking.I loved the school before that.. after the incident it never felt the same.
Mizzz Candy: It's ok but kind of expensive to and no family discount for families with more than two kids
Deion Dykes: Horrible shcool. They make you pay for everything.... always have they hand out for money after you pay a 320 dollars tuition.... strict on the color socks the teacher argue with you.
WonderMom Dom Typ_Pisces: Before you judge starting pointDo you for research , on the expense of Montessori school .Montessori is more expensive, then parochial school .This is gonna be expensive . No way around it !My Kid is 5 and she can read . The school is challenging, but 100% effective if you put 100% of your effort behind the curriculum . It it’s worth it if you want your child to have a step up. The school is expensive , it is. Frankly I think most of the negative comments come from people that don’t like the price. They what more Bang for their buck , their choice , I totally understand. I’m not happy about the extra added expenses. IE The kindergarten graduation fund raising fee. But I won’t be pressured. I pay my tuition every two weeks on time. And I don’t worry about the rest . Neither does the director , so she can’t be that money hungry . I get things paid off on my time frame , other then tuttion.
kyla thompson: The director is oblivious to the fact that all children are different, which means they all act different. They lack basic early childhood education knowledge. The directors concern is that school is operated as a boot camp for adults and not those of toddlers and small children. Money is of course the main concern.
Lashawn Webb: I absolutely love this place! I am very picky when it comes to my children's education but I must admit this place is like a hidden gem. I have nothing but good things to say about the staff and the school as a whole. The building is always clean, no matter what time I come in its practically spotless. My son has learned so much! He knows his numbers , days of the week, and months of the year in Spanish and his only three years old. The price may seem expensive but its comparable to Cornerstone which charges about four thousand more. The Director runs this place like a regular school and I am confident that when my son leaves he will be well prepared.
Renee Jones: My son was three years old when he first started there. He received a good education. But the staff was rude and picked on my son for wearing braids. The director is rude and just care about money. You have to buy everything for your children even lunch. I would not recommend this money hungry place. Eight hundred dollars a month for tuition is a bit much for these little children.
Shira M: This school is money hungry and only cares about your payment they charge you $310 maybe money more for your child to attend they don't provide food if you forget your child lunch you have to pay them for your child to eat they also charge for every event the school has. you would think the money will go toward the kids but no they also want you to buy a $10 school shirt for your child you would think that will come with the $310 you pay they also make you pay a week in advance so if you think the payment's are every 2weeks it's not they close at 6 if your a min late they will charge you as well if you want to pick your child up early they will tell you oh we don't do that you have to come at 6 on top of Christmas break is 2weeks long and they still want you to pay $310 and when your child returns they want you to pay another $310 so basically your paying them $310 for no reason they didn't potty train my son they kept calling me and telling me he use the bathroom on his self to find out they wasn't taking him to the bathroom he was going alone as well as they gave him a lot of water and milk he was only 2 years old at that time my son was always sick so if they tell you they are very clean they are not they also Called me to come pick my son up because he nose was running so half the time my son was not in school because he use the bathroom on his self or because his nose was running all the kids nose was running my son goes to a brand new school who supply food as well as they are open until midnight my son learns very well even more this school they didnt even fix up the play ground and its in a bad area so your child is in that school allday also they got a lawyer on me because I took my son out of the school when they wanted $310 for the 2weeks the kids was out of school I don't know why they think I owe them any money when I took my kid out of the school 2weeks before as well as they gave you a date and time you had to drop the money off for the 2 weeks they was out and if you didn't come on that date and time you had to pay a late fee I guess they think people don't work this school is horrible and don't support these rude money hungry women

So So: I work there. I love it. The team is fantastic. The teachers are wonderful. The staff really listen to the needs of the children. The small class sizes enable one on one learning.
Just Me: If you have an illness, don’t apply to work here. They are NOT compliant with the Americans With Disabilities Act, and Ms. Judy even asked if I was sick because I had a mask on. This is a violation of Civil Rights laws under disability discrimination. I am not restricted, but I still wear a mask out of common courtesy to those I am around that are immunocompromised due to cancer treatment. Ms. Judy even asked how my cancer would affect my work. Seriously illegal! My advice would be get educated about working with disabled individuals, individuals with illnesses, and learn some manors in interacting with others. What kind of discriminatory ignorance are the children learning at this school/summer camp? Not anything I want my children to learn!
Ryan Meerschaert: Great school, great staff and great atmosphere. Finally some stability in leadership. Excited to see this school continue to grown and prosper!
Annemarie Paciorek: I feel secure with the leadership from the administration. Ms. Judy is a fabulous person and a great leader. Thank you for all you do!
Keshav Grover: Fantastic gem in our backyard! Caring and compassionate staff provide a safe and conducive environment for children to grow and thrive! Highly recommend!
Judy Meerschaert: Great school with lots of diversity and a great qualified and caring staff!
Cindy Reznick: Great school. New principal and office staff have really done a great job especially during covid. I highly recommend this school. They really care about the children.
Brittany Parling: So glad we found Gateway. My 4-year-old has been there full-time since she was a baby and has had the most amazing and caring teachers; the same is true for her little sister who is now in the infant room. I love the Montessori philosophy, as well as the community of families and teachers that make Gateway so special.
Remi Napier: Working here was amazing for many years but the school has definitely made a shift for the worse. This school lacks diversity and leadership. Very high turnover for staff and principals. The principals and board of directors do not care about staff which makes staff not care about the job.
Steven L: Our daughter and my wife and I loved this place.
Sandra Eons: Still aweful . ...DO NOT RECCOMEND! Overpriced, low staff, employees are often rude to children (witnessed by me and other parents), and the aftercare program is overpriced and understaffed DO NOT send your child here
Boris P: Our preschool experience was terrible; very high turn-over of staff from principal (4 in 4 years) to after hours staff; terrible communication from teachers would not recommend this school to anyone. Filed a complaint with Michigan LARA; the last principal was pretty useless - and resigned 2 months in.
