F & G Business Machines: what do users think?
Mike Imirie: There's no typewriter repair resource anywhere in metro Detroit like F&G. Is one of your function keys jammed? Go see Paul. Imprecise key strokes? See Paul. Trouble advancing your typewriter's ribbon? You know what to do. For $28, Paul will diagnose your problem and call you with his diagnosis and estimate. If you want to proceed with the repair, he'll apply the diagnosis fee against your bill. His right hand office assistant - Peggy - is terrific. And F&G sells refurbished machines, too. Highly recommended.
Lisa Williams: I never write reviews, however my experience with F & G Business Machines was so horrendous that I hope I can prevent others from using this company. When my printer broke (just out of warranty) the manufacturer suggested that I take it to one of their authorized service centers for repair. The closest service center to my house was F & G. I dropped my printer off in early July, and had to follow up multiple times with Paul (the owner) to get an initial quote. I was ultimately told that Paul attempted to order my part but could not get it. However, he would keep on trying and provide me with an update as soon as he was able to order the part. I waited and waited (and meanwhile called the printer manufacturer to confirm that there was actually a part shortage). Two months later, Paul called me back with no recollection of our previous conversation. He did not recall attempting to order my part, and perhaps even worse, his quote the second time around was higher than the quote he provided in July. Moral of the story - I waited a total of three months and there was zero progress. I just purchased a new printer. Avoid this business at all costs!
Leo Eisenstein: Omg I love this machine they sold me. Old fashioned honest working owners here know their stuff, sold me exactly what I needed before I was sure what it was! Many hours now, machine works like new.
Solomon Remos: Paul Beck and F and G Machines should not be in business.Regularly showed up late for weekly breakdowns, never apologized for being late nor did they keep anyone informed as to delays.Little to no organization, very difficult to get invoices.I do not recommend doing business with Paul Beck and/or F&G Machines.
Mostly Harmless: Poooooooor customer service.
Solace _: Wonderful to find a place that repairs typewriters!! A+ quick service and very friendly !!
KMA Associates: We have purchased several office / business machines from Paul and have found his service is very timely and his knowledge of the equipment he handles is impressive. Paul goes above and beyond to make sure that all of our needs are met. In today's business environment, service means everything.F&G business is all about service.
jorge145000: F & G Business Machines offers rental copiers at a very competitive rate; however, the quality of the machines as well as the customer service caused for me to stop doing business with this company.About 8 months into service we continued to have problems with our machines on a weekly basis and would call Paul Beck (Owner/Technician/Salesman) who would rarely follow through on scheduled visits. He also explained that he couldn't inform us of what time he would be stopping by the office to fix our copiers as he had a busy schedule (This occurred on at least 6 different occasions). I have never had a service technician not even provide a specific day or time frame for scheduling a repair.Beyond the machines consistently breaking down (I know 4 other companies in the Metro Detroit area whose machines regularly require servicing), when Paul would arrive on-site his customer service skills were no where to be found. He would openly speak amongst staff about how he was making $100/hr on each visit and if the machine didn't get fixed that day he didn't mind coming back again, as it was "more money in his pocket." He would leave our office space a mess as well as have no respect for the fact that meetings were being held and would many times open doors of closed offices while meetings were in progress.Since Paul Beck and F & G Machines requires payment for each visit, the rental copier ended up costing more than several other companies we could have done business with. Upon asking Paul to remove the equipment, he took over a week to remove the machines and never sent a final invoice. When calling the office to discuss how to receive the final invoice, I was told by the office administrator that nothing is handled in office and that Paul's wife handles all billing and is difficult to get in touch with. We still haven't received an official invoice and I have attempted to reach out to Paul as well as F & G Machines on multiple occasions. I was told by the office administrator that Paul has a tendency to forget to get back with customers, but that she has been informing him of my need for an invoice via phone calls and text messages.I normally prefer supporting other small businesses and helping the local community (resident of Troy); however, this experience with Paul Beck and F & G Machines has caused for me to search elsewhere for a rental copier.I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere when considering copier machines as well as rental machines as the initial low cost of a machine doesn't make up for the multiple service appointments that will be required as well as the poor customer service that will be experienced.
