Suburban Volvo Cars: what do users think?
icey hot: Chad is probably the best and easiest salesperson I've ever experienced. He went above and beyond to make sure I liked the car before I ever committed and then made it an extremely smooth purchasing process! Would recommend him to anyone.
Dorothy Iskra: Chad was great to work with when buying my new volvo. Any concerns I had he explained everything thoroughly
Theodore Hoag: Suburban Volvo dealer in the Troy motor mall is great. We have three Volvos vehicles, all purchase from Suburban Volvo in Troy. Some used and some new. We have also been using Suburban Volvo for over 12 years. We also have been using them for all our service. Been happy with both their service and sales staff. Over the years, staff have changed and we have worked with many different employees and we have always had good support at Suburban Volvo. Everyone will have issues with their Vehicles, regardless of brand or model. We have been able to find equable solutions when we have disagreed with Suburban Volvo.
Ewen Chan: Purchased a maintenance (oil change) contract from them before the COVID-19 pandemic that is set to expire in March 2023. However, because we live in Canada, and as a result of said COVID-19 pandemic which resulted in the closure of the US/Canadian border, we weren't able to go to Suburban Volvo to get our oil changes done on our 2016 Volvo XC90.We purchased the oil change contract from Suburban Volvo because that is the closest Volvo dealership to where we live. The closest Volvo dealership to us, in Canada, would be in London, Ontario, or about 200 km (~125 miles) away. Now that the borders have been re-opened, I asked if they would be able to and/or willing to extend the contract due to extenuating circumstances which arose from said COVID-19 and the corresponding border closures.Moral of the story: don't buy ANY type of maintainence/service contract from Suburban Volvo because if there are ANY extenuating circumstances, they're not going to grant nor provide a solution that will take said extenuating circumstances into account.*edit*Sidebar: Suburban Volvo will deny any responsibility/liability for said service/maintenance contract, arguing that it's another company that is responsible for the administration of said contract, and therefore; they can't extend it at their will. However, as a customer and a consumer, that's not my problem that *you* don't administer the maintenance contracts that *you* sell. The fact that you are a reseller, and FAILED to disclose that you are a reseller makes that *your* problem.I'm done arguing with them about it.They're not going to extent it past the original expiration date.Ergo; the moral of the story remains the same, as I originally wrote it.*edit 2023-05-05*The manager tried to call me yesterday, but unfortunately, I was in a meeting. He called me again, and we had a brief discussion (~8 minutes) where I just re-iterated the points in regards to this experience, and he has extended the service contract so that should cover my remaining oil change I think I still have left, per the terms of the original contract.Dan was very understanding from the customer's point of view, and also mentioned that it might be a common misunderstanding or misconception that most, if not all of the service contracts, are administered by an outside, third party, despite it being sold to customers by Suburban Volvo.I re-iterated to him, that it is important for people to be aware of this, to which, Dan replied saying that the company, in the interest of customer service, should have the ability to manage (or extend) the contract, for their customers.I told him that I tried to understand how we got here from the perspective of Suburban Volvo and also the third party company that is responsible for the administration of the contract (and how if there isn't a clause or provision in the contract that states something to the effect of "the terms of the contract may be modified, barring unforeseen and/or unforeseeable circumstances, beyond the control of the parties") -- if that clause doesn't exist, then there is no obligation from the selling party nor the administration party, to change, extend, nor modify the terms of said contract. So, I told him that it's very much a "buyer beware" review as well - as I would imagine that most people wouldn't think about these things, when they are being sold a service contract by Suburban Volvo.
Stanley Gilbert III: Raven was very helpful and informative. She made the purchasing process fast and easy and was patient with me with all the questions I had.
Meaghan Irene: I have been going to Suburban Volvo in Troy since I purchased my car several years ago, and I've always had exceptional service.Today, I had an unexpected issue requiring me to purchase a replacement part for my vehicle. A team of individuals at Volvo went above and beyond to help fix the issue. Matt from the parts department provided several options available to me. Gillette, Mary, and the other service department team members were very supportive and accommodating. I was in and out very quickly after unplanned service. I felt valued, respected, and appreciated. I am beyond grateful to each and every Volvo team member who helped me.I purchased from Volvo for several reasons and one of them was because I was treated respectfully by everyone at the dealership. Thanks for continuing to affirm I made the right choice! You have a solid team who truly cares about your customers.
Andi Foerster: Alex was extremely helpful in getting me the car I wanted, and was dedicated to getting me a good deal on my loan. He made the process manageable and timely.
Kris Kumar: Chad was amazing and the whole process was smooth. Love my new XC90 hybrid
allison woll: Great experience with my scheduled Volvo maintenance! Efficient, quick and friendly service all while I waited comfortably in the dealership lounge.
Kristin Saracevic: I have felt this dealership has gone down hill. It used to be excellent. Today I came to have the covering on my door handle fixed. The car is two years old and both the center counsel and the handle had the chrome peeling. I found out this is a common issue. After 1 month of waiting for the parts I brought in the car. I decided to wait because they stated it wouldn’t take that long. I sat in the lobby for 2.5 hours. I finally asked if there was an estimate and the gentleman that took me in said oh, it’s been ready for 1.5 hours. As I sat there, I understand the sales staff work off of commission but the girl was bothered when customers came in to ask questions regarding a car, complained to the other staff about receiving a gift card from the dealership and it better not be on her paycheck and when I asked if there was someone I could talk to about buying my car out she said sit here and then continued texting on her phone. The questions I had she said I would have to talk to a manager but they don’t have anyone there for a few days and I should just wait until the end of my lease to talk about buying it. For a luxury brand, this was not a good impression at all.
Mordy Babayov: My mechanic brought to my attention a leak in my engine. Since it's under warranty, I called Subarban Volvo to arrange to have it serviced. They graciously offered me a loaner and scheduled a valet to pick up my car and swap them out. This had to be done over a week in advance. About an hour before they were supposed to pick it up, I got a call that they cancelled it. They said they made a mistake and couldn't offer me a loaner. No explanation. No apology. Honestly, they were very curt and just unpleasant. The GM replies to some reviews here so I tried calling him but his voicemail is not set up. I then tried calling the head of service and he hasn't returned my calls.I'm going to try a Volvo dealership that further out since these people don't seem to want my business.
M B: While they are very professional and courteous, I was not impressed with their billing practices. I came in to have my care looked at. They gave me a written quote of $150 to check out the car. When they handed me the bill it was for $175. When I asked what the extra $25 was for the employee told me it was for materials (towels and cleaning supplies) Are you kidding? Running a diagnostic on a car doesn't use any materials and if you get your hands dirty it isn't normal to charge the customer $25 for paper towel... I wasn't going to argue over $25, I'd just be very careful going in as their billing practices are a bit underhanded.Update: They replied to my review saying to reach out to them to resolve this so I did try calling but nobody picks up on the number provided.
Ms Initiative: Have been having issue with this dealership for weeks and impossible to get a hold of anyone to complain to. When I asked who was in charge nobody seemed to know and when I was transferred to the GM it went straight to VM and nobody picked up when I called again in the future.I'll get their attention eventually. Disgruntled customers don't make for a good business. Here's a tip of a general manager is reading this. Train your employees to take ownership of issues. Train them to apologize. Customers will feel validated and heard. Responding to reviews with phone numbers that aren't being answered just won't cut it.
Cary Levy: I was treated well while servicing my vehicle. I was kept abreast of the progress and given a loaner car during repairs which were completed as promised. My one issue is that cost of replacing one seat belt was $1,200.
Larry Warren: Chris Adam is an outstanding service manager.
Heather Edwards: Unfortunate that they don't offer weekend service appointments anymore to those of us who have to work normal hours every week day. Thankfully the La Fontaine Farmington Hills Volvo does. Will go there from now on.
Gary Willyerd: Excellent service and car care!
Nevila Kaso: The service team is terrific. Both, Chris and Jeff are knowledgeable, quick and efficient making each visit a pleasant one.
C. M.: Have been with this dealership for second vehicle. Moe, salesperson, goes above and beyond the call of customer service. He really tries to make sure you are completely taken care of. Down to cleaning off my license plate before putting on a clean car. He truly is a gem.
kathy fennessy: Friendly service. Thorough with details and timely with responses.
Christine Reid: They went out of their way to fit me into the schedule, provided a loaner, fixed the car, and attended to several other things that needed attention and updating in a very timely fashion. Very pleased with the experience.

LaFontaine Volvo Cars of Farmington Hills: what do users think?
Ha Michelle: I just purchased my XC90 through Kyle. The process was simple and easy, and Kyle made everything easy and convient for me. I highly recommend this place!
Richard Emmons: Brought the car in for a follow up to earlier work. After replacing many things, including all of the struts, severe noises were still prevalent. Evidently more work needed to be done. LaFontaine helped us with another vehicle as it would take multiple days to complete the work. Chris was very helpful throughout.
Angila Beard: Blake is an amazing Salesman. He was instrumental in paying off an existing least and securing my new least with Volvo. You are #1 Blake. I am ever grateful and will be a returning customer. Thank you!!
Amy G: I had a very good experience. Chris was amazing. He walked me through everything and explained everything to me. !
Chipmunk: Once they feel they're losing a sale, they become very rude and dismissive
Syuzen Rikhter: Great dealership. Suburban Volvo took into consideration all my needs. No pressure. Worked through limited inventory and found the vehicle I have been looking for. Sales Team is amazing. They followed up with every single milestone. I’ll never shop anywhere else. We are family now.
Howard Manela: This dealer is very crooked. We have taken our car in twice the first time they recommended unnecessary things for our brakes. The second time they said the back brakes were not working properly. This dealership took four months to get a part in and service us. Go anywhere else to fix your Subaru.
Casey Mungall: I’ve been going to the Lafontaine Volvo dealership for years. They’ve always been knowledgeable and friendly. Very clean dealership as well.
Tracey Sperry: New to the LaFountain dealership. Incredible customer service in making it possible to trade in my XC40 lease early with no penalties to get into a hybrid XC60. I couldn’t have asked for a better salesman than Joshua! Thank you!
Alexis Lyons: Our whole experience was fantastic from start to finish. Pat Dwyer was the best, knew all of the answers to our questions, and went above and beyond to help us pick the right car for us. I highly recommend LaFontaine Volvo and have already recommended Pat to some of my friends. A+ service!
Natayai Scott: Never followed up with the status of my vehicle. I had to call and get every update and constantly beg for a loaner, which was never granted. I was left without a vehicle for over two (2) months.
Ramez Sabra: Austin did an amazing job, I dropped off the vehicle for an oil change and asked to pick it up a week later. It took them one day longer because they found an issue with the key fob. They provided 2 new key fobs! :)Highly recommended.
Ryan Anspach: So I had spent 3 months of trying to get a vehicle from several different dealers, with one even selling the vehicle the night before I was planned to come get it. Working the this Dealer (Kyle in specific) was the single EASIEST purchasing experience I have ever gone through. Working with him over the phone as my work schedule did not let me get to the dealer, he was able to work with me and get me IN THE VEHICLE I WANTED IN 2 DAYS! The whole staff at this dealer made purchasing my Polestar the smoothest and easiest experience and I CANNOT recommend them enough for anyone looking to get a Volvo or Polestar.
Tammy Koc: Blake, the Sales Associate was amazing.
Flashfanatic19: Always great and prompt
Andrew Headman: Felt totally disrespected
Mohamad Saad: Kyle was very helpful and kind. Great staff and easy purchasing experience.
Candice Hicks: I wouldn't have it any other way.
Miguel Morillo: They were very nice, courteous and efficient. I really can’t ask for more. Perfect experience
Jack Calderon: Great dealership and courteous employees
Kaylin Seffrood: Kyle W was a great salesmen to work with, he answered all my questions while I was there looking and even the ones I had after I had gotten home. He understood my situation and never once made me feel pressured to purchase, when I finally decided to go with the vehicle he did everything he could to help me out and did a great job explaining all the features of my new suv!
