Lonjezo Sithole: Today for the first time since I got here in Ann Arbor over a year ago, I've finally found a barber who can shave my Afro hair so well to my satisfaction. Far too many barbers around here have screwed up my haircuts and I almost gave up on finding a good barber who can do exactly what I ask them to. Tonny at Varsity Barber Shop is amazing!! Crystal is skilled with the scissors and clippers, giving you the cut and style you ask for, as long as you communicate with her what you want. She's funny and quick witted, which both make for great conversation while she's cutting. She's also able to "read the room" when you may not want to talk, which is ok, too. James Giacalone: I’ve been going to coach and four for over 20 years. Jerry has cut all four of my boys hair. Now, James continues Jerry’s legacy and has taken over. The best thing is... NOTHING HAS CHANGED!! same great atmosphere, same old stories, lies and banter. Come prepared to find out the latest at all University of Michigan athletics, maybe even see a few athletes and coaches too. Only place I would ever go to get my haircut (even if I don’t have that much anymore). Let the legacy continues!

Matthew: My most recent haircut with Coach and Four was of poor quality, extremely unprofessional, and not on time. The owner (James) was running 20 minutes late, and when I finally sat down he attempted to complete a fade in a world record time. The owner clearly does not take pride in his haircuts and it was obvious he didn't care about mine. He completed my haircut in about 10 minutes and then proceeded to up-charge me on my haircut because I had mistakenly selected the "buzz cut option" when I initially signed up for an appointment. When questioned why I was receiving an up-charge and why my haircut was so rushed, he refused to take any accountability, even though he was 20 minutes behind schedule to begin with. James clearly did not put the needs of the customer first. Needless to say I will never be going back to Coach and Four, and if you value getting a decent haircut in a professional setting you should look elsewhere.

Brian Knowles: Arcade Barbers is a no nonsense place for mens, women, boys and girls hair styling. $25 plus tip for a water spray cut for a new (or old look), you choose. And an added bonus of being in the Arcade with a flower and chocolate shop across the way.
Carlos: The difference between Arcade and the usual lot of chain salons is palpable. Staff actually take the time to cut your hair to the best of their abilities every single time. Whereas most places are eager to get costumers in and out as soon as possible, Arcade Barbers' 30-minute appointments allow staff to really take their time and enhance the customer experience, all for a modest price of $25.It's a little odd, but I can actually say this is where I got the best haircut of my life.

Got there a bit early and everyone working there said "good morning!"Teresa did a fine job with my ratty Robert Smith do. Half an hour later I looked like a new guy. Excellent! Teresa is friendly and easy to talk to. She asked what I wanted and did a great job. Will be making this my go to spot for a great haircut. 👍

Edward Dunne: Arcade is a traditional barbershop that caters to a varied clientele. They get some university students, some professors, some professional people from in town, and a smattering of others. It's a very welcoming place - and they give great haircuts! Many customers have a favorite, mine is Tina. Tiffany tends to be the person doing women's hair. It used to be a walk-in only business, but since the pandemic, you make a reservation online. It's quite easy, and very convenient, as they generally run on time. I highly recommend Arcade Barbers.

Not only is it more aesthetically pleasing, they got the talent too. I went in earlier this evening after receiving an awful cut from Sports Clips earlier that afternoon. Mo absolutely rescued my hair. He was able to take the terrible cut and awful lines I was left with and turn it into what is easily the cleanest fade I’ve had in years. My confidence went from 0-10. I was trying to find a barbershop that wasn’t so busy for my son who has autism and previous issues with overstimulation. They took us 20 minutes before closing and it was a great place for my kid. Sarah Bradley: Let me start by saying first of all I don't think I ever could say enough good things about Daniel the gentleman that I had my experience with. Initially I called to make sure that they had available appointments right away. I also done my homework before chosing whom I would take a leap of faith with. DING, DING, DING Daniel was the lucky one. Although my mentally disabled special needs, in a wheelchair young charge and I feel that we are the lucky ones. If you know what it is to care for a special needs child with mental disabilities then you know what a challenge daily life is. Daniel is a special person, to be able to handle this young man as well as he did impressed the hell out of me !!!!!!it takes someone special to be so patient, willing AND faced this challenge head on w/o a blink of an eye. Charles Wilkes: Best barbershop in Ann Arbor for Black people. I primarily get my haircut by Ink. Ink is good at everything including bald fades, burst fades, and designs. He also LISTENS to exactly what the customer wants and makes sure you exactly what you asked. Lastly, and probably most importantly, he DOES NOT push your hairline back, which is common amongst barbers that cut Black people hair. I highly recommend him and have been getting my hair cut by him since moving to Ann Arbor.

As the lady is cutting my hair I find out that she only cuts hair on Saturdays and works full time as a teacher. When she was done with my hair she asked how I like it... my sideburns were about half an inch off from the other side. I asked her nicely to fix it, and when she did she asks me how it looks now and if I want it changed. I'm sorry, but you're the barber and I expect you to tell me if my sideburns aren't lined up and fix it. I left hoping that the rest of my head looked ok. Nice people, but won't be coming back.
