Birth Center at Von Voigtlander Women's Hospital (Women's): what do users think?
Eliyahu Verzub: This department is a black spot on an otherwise wonderful institution. We saw a doctor a total of 1 minute during the entire birth process. The staff was completely callous to my wife's pain post birth. They also require all inductions to be done at night, just to make sure that you are already completely exhasted before you even start labor.
Fawn Teller: Couldn't be happier with the staff in labor and delivery. Jaime, Alison, Tracy and Polly are some of the top mentions. It felt like family. They truly care about my level of comfort as well as keeping me informed as to what's going on during labor with the baby. U of M being a top hospital is reassuring but actually experiencing it I can say first hand I wish I'd had all my kids here!
Jamie Parrish: I have had 4 C-sections. The first 3 were done by the same Dr over the course of 13 years. For my 4th child I wanted a different experience so I bounced around between OBGYN's until I found a Dr that I really liked at the local U of M clinic. As it came down to deliverying the baby, my water broke before the scheduled C-section and I was told that my Dr would not be there so they had another Dr to deliver. It was an experience I wouldn't wish upon anyone. As the Dr was performing the C-section she raved about how I had hardly any scaring and that she was really impressed to know that I delivered 3 children via cesarean. I gave much credit to the previous Dr's techniques and my super healing powers.Skip ahead 9 months and I am still experiencing issues with my stomach. The way my skin was pulled and put back together, is awful looking. I believe this Dr's techniques are questionable and she left me with a deformed stomach/pelvic area and so much nerve damage that it causes constant discomfort and itching that is nearly impossible to ever relive.I know that having babies changes a woman's body and I embraced those battle wound when I delivered my 1st daughter 15 years ago... But I believe that this physical damage could have been prevented and may have also caused the nerve damage. Also to had a lot of issues with the anesthesiologists and receiving the nerve block. My back bruised beyond anything I've ever seen. We were kicked out of the hospital at 10pm by a nurse after the anesthesiologist recommended that I stay and be monitored for the headaches and bruising at the injection site. I didn't have a ride and they nurse just kept urging me to pack up and leave for they needed that space. If I didn't have a ride she was going to find my baby and I a ride. I was able to get a ride from a friend at 11pm at night. The janitorial staff would often enter the room without knocking. It's a bit uncomfortable having a strange man walk in while you're trying to nurse you baby and clean up your room. From my experience, I would certainly not recommend this labor and delivery unit. I truly regret having my baby at this hospital. The nurses were fantastic and really comforting (except for the one that kicked us out.) But that was the only good part about our visit. I would certainly recommend IHA

Ann Arbor Birth & Family: what do users think?
Riley Eilken: We had a wonderful birth experience, in large part thanks to the calming presence and knowledge that Sharon brought to our birth team. I couldn’t recommend her more
Paige Bailey Laughlin: Sharon Quinn was an incredible birth educator and I felt so informed going into my first birth.
Jillian Everhart: Sharon's Evidence Based Birthing Courses were so empowering. Her passion and enthusiasm really makes them interesting and takes away any fear about labor and delivery. She is always cheerful and helpful. I highly recommend this 6 week class for all pregnant ladies who want a great experience!
Stephanie Yablonsky: Sharon was instrumental in achieving my dream birth experience. With a combination of unflagging optimism and an arsenal of evidence-based statistics, she helped build my confidence throughout my second pregnancy following a traumatic first birth. When we were stuck in triage for 80% of my labor, she turned the tiny intake room into a spa with a combination of tea lights and music. Her calm, supportive presence kept me relaxed and in control throughout my labor, and ultimately resulted in a safe, unmedicated birth that I've described to others as nothing short of magical. 48 hours later, I'm walking around virtually pain free and a true believer in the power of natural birth.
David Wilson: Sierra was a fantastic doula for the birth of our daughter.  She radiated calmness and warmth throughout the birth process, and was a great comfort to us.  She provided so much support, and felt like an ultra competent family member guiding us through my wife's labor.  She even took our favorite picture after our daughter was born.  We are very grateful for Sierra's compassionate assistance, and we highly recommend her.My wife also attended several virtual prenatal yoga classes hosted by Lisa, and highly recommends her classes as well.  The support and guidance that she received was exceptional, and she is planning to continue to attend Lisa's postnatal classes.
Emily Rivkin: We chose to work with Sharon and Alyssa at Ann Arbor Birth and Family. Sharon and Alyssa were truly outstanding birth doulas. From the moment we met them they were supportive, encouraging, respectful, kind, and always available to answer questions. They provided such warmth and positivity, as well as helpful information, throughout our pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey. Sharon and Alyssa went above and beyond every step of the way. What stands out most to us was their commitment to get to know us, our communication styles, and our approach to birth. We gave birth during COVID, and so sadly were not allowed to have them join us in the hospital. They supported us virtually throughout our labor and delivery and they were absolutely part of the team! With their guidance, we were more prepared for everything during this phase of life. We are grateful for their compassionate care. We would highly recommend Sharon and Alyssa as birth doulas.
Joanna Spencer-Segal: We couldn't have been happier with our doula experience. Kristen was so dedicated to making sure that everything in my plan was carried out. They have a wonderful system for making sure that a doula is available whenever you go in to labor. This was really important to me as it was possible that my husband would be out of town for the birth. I felt immediately supported by Kristen and Jade when we met them, and was comforted knowing that one of them would certainly be there with me. In the end, my husband made it, but Kristen integrated herself so seamlessly into the team and helped give him some rest and me the support I needed for a successful VBAC. She was truly there to support my experience and wishes - there is no judgment by these doulas or pushing of any way childbirth "should" be, just the way the mother wants it to be. I would absolutely work with them again.
Elizabeth Sammons Rodems: Sierra was our doula for the births of both our children. I highly recommended her services. She is compassionate, enpathic, and knowledgeable.
Lily Gershenson: I don't know that I can adequately emphasize how wonderful the doula services and classes offered by Ann Arbor Birth and Family are. Sierra and one of her partners, Sara Marie, were our assigned doulas for the birth of our daughter in summer 2018. They were warm, reassuring and knowledgeable for all of the interactions we had with them prior to our delivery day. I sent several questions their way in the months leading up to the birth and they replied promptly and with helpful information for me as a first-time mom. When we went into labor we received the most skilled/experienced, and emotionally attuned support from them, all the way up until we met our daughter. It was a long labor and they were there for us every step of the way. Their competence in working with medical professionals at the hospital was note-worthy. We felt like we had a team behind us while working with these two amazing doulas. If you are looking for doula services- call this company and schedule an initial appointment. You will be glad you chose Ann Arbor Birth and Family!
Julia Randles: My experience with Ann Arbor Birth & Family was amazing. Sierra was an awesome support as my husband and I welcomed our first child. After a long battle with infertility I found myself pregnant, overjoyed and overwhelmed. She helped me navigate my journey through pregnancy, birth, breast feeding and postpartum care. She has a special place in our hearts as do all the friendly faces and voices at Ann Arbor Birth & Family.
Sunny Lin: Wanted a natural birth, went into labor and realized just how hard a natural birth was! Jade played a critical role in helping me through the long labor process with minimal intervention, just what I needed and wanted. Throughout the process, Jade and Sierra were knowledgeable, great listeners, experienced and calm. Can't imagine what the process would have been like without them.
Brian Marcon: I can't being to thank you enough. For everything can't wait to have you to help us with our next child. Thank you
Elise Frankish: We hired Sierra to support our family when our daughter was born. The thing that impressed us the most was how professional she was. She was very communicative about her expectations of us and what we could expect of her during the pregnancy and birth. She was great at listening to what we were hoping for, while still presenting information to help us expand our understanding of what was possible. She supported us every step of the way, even through a long labor and into breastfeeding concerns. She made a fabulous referral to a lactation consultant when we reached a need for expertise that exceeded her doula training. We would highly recommend a doula in general for any family who is considering it, and Sierra Hildebrand is one of the best! She is professional, knowledgeable, and compassionate.
Tara Rubinstein: Sierra was an essential part of my birth experience in 2013. Her confidence, kindness and years of wisdom helped me to feel safe and secure through pregnancy and homebirth. She also helped my mom through her anxieties for my wellbeing and I was so grateful to have her as an ally in that regard. Sierra is phenomenal and I HIGHLY recommend Ann Arbor Family Doulas!

New Moon Midwifery: what do users think?
Hailey Grace: Metta and Katie were my midwives for my first home birth. They took time throughout my prenatal care to ask questions, get to know me and what I wanted for my birth. Katie and Metta are extremely knowledgeable and made sure all my questions and concerns were addressed. My husband and I are so grateful that they attended our home birth and made the experience so special. I love that they are a part of my birth story and that they did everything they could to make my family was safe and supported. I will always look back at my birth experience with them as empowering, transformative, and beautiful.

Von Voigtlander Women's Hospital: what do users think?
Amanda: This hospital and the staff deserve zero stars but I have to give at least one to write a review. This is the by far the worst place I have ever dealt with! I personally chose this hospital for how advanced they are but that means nothing if they don’t do their jobs. They are unprofessional, rushed, absolutely no bedside manners, and spend more time laughing with their coworkers then actually treating you. I have been seen multiple times throughout my first pregnancy for multiple issues and each time I have been completely disregarded. They are fast to pump you with fluids and some medication to shut you up but have no issues seeing you back in 3 days to repeat. Don’t expect a diagnosis!! They will let you sit in pain. This hospital is all about their money $$!They are training lots of new people and it appears nobody knows what is even going on in there, save yourself time, money and pain and go to a different hospital so you can be cared for like an actual human.
Wendy Willauer: Dr. Fenner is so awesome she makes you feel like you've known her forever she is a Dr. that actually listens to you when you talk to her very personable excellent bedside. I just love her and would recommend her to all women having female issues. The nurses and the surgical team were very pleasant and helpful I had a very pleasant experience. I am heading back for another surgery and hope to have the same experience 😁
Stephanie Davis: I was born qt this hospital of course before the updates and things but things are always changing. I have most of all health care needs as a child with them. When I became and adult I left but quickly came back . I have had two kids here. My daughter did a week in there Nicuand my Son is doing his time now. I am High risk for many different reason and I wouldn't go anywhere else for the care of my children. Love this place. Yes I have had a few not so good help but more good then Bad and that's what I look at because anywhere you go in life there will be good and bad but which one out ways the other.?
Sarah Dettloff: I had a natural birth in a tub of water at the hospital and baby and i were happy and healthy. The midwives were great but everything else was a really bad experience. People kept coming in the room trying to give me an epidural when i told them i didn't want it. After the birth they told me i had to stay the night. The morning i was packed and ready to go. They said i had to stay one more night because they wanted to monitor my babys weight. We were nursing on a regular basis and despite this they kept trying to give her formula and make me pump. Her weight was totally normal. I told them i was leaving. They threatened calling security. Said I didn't want to do that. Said i was putting the baby at risk. I told them i was not asking their permission. We are both happy, healthy and going home now. We were there two days and nights against my will for no reason. My baby is nursing and gaining weight and we are going home. Get your paperwork ready. The nurse came back in after crying and told me she was so sorry for the way they were treating us. That she knew the way things are at the hospital are so wrong and she was just so sorry and she got a midwife. I told her what was happening and she got my paperwork and cut off the bands and got us out.Went to my pediatrician next day for routine measurements and she was shocked at their behavior and said the baby's weight was totally normal and she was nursing so well. Never again. Good luck to all you mothers out there. I am almost convinced they were trying to make me stay longer to charge my insurance more.
Chloe: Doctor pleasant is the BEST doctor, amazing bedside manner, very caring and smart. Love her.
David Miller: Deleted my post.Disrespectful and super unprofessional.Didn’t know what rooms were able to hook up baby monitors and machines.Treated my wife like her pain and discomfort wasn’t important and didn’t matter.Constantly moved us room to room, then not move us rooms because reasons.Wife can’t even make it to the bathroom, our unborn child’s heart rate is constantly dropping every other half hour, and she’s crying in pain yet that’s “progress”Worst hospital experience by far. Will not be coming back the rest of this pregnancy or for another pregnancy.Period.Also they deleted my last review so that should say something to their integrity and professionalism.
Jacob Rowden: The term gold standard does not do justice to this institution. The combination of brilliant scientists, researchers, and practitioners provides a level of knowledge unavailable to most of the world, and largely compassionate and ethically-minded staff at every level makes your experience here significantly better than it would be at a typical hospital. I saw these teams perform miracles, and I do not use that word lightly. I was so impressed and grateful at their level of care, that despite having attended university at another Big Ten school, any contributions I make towards a university for the remainder of my life will be going to this hospital. Thank you U of M.
Mrs. K Berry: I gave birth to my 2nd daughter here. The medical staff and physicians were kind, knowledgeable and understanding. Rooms were clean and properly stocked. The even had a gaming system in our room in labor & delivery. The reason I had to give them 4 stars instead of 5 is because they're either understaffed or just overwhelmed at night. The experience in the daytime versus after hours is much different. Takes the nurses and staff much, much longer to respond to patient requests/needs and I had to ask for simple things like water several times before I received it. The food in general was pretty terrible as well, but it's a hospital so my expectations weren't high. Overall, my experience/overnight stay was great and I would recommend this hospital.
Soadia Santos Bacarin (Sol): Very nice place, people so gentle. Thank you!
Kathy Whaib: Delivered my first son with great care and amazing nurses. My hubby drove an hour just to deliver my first baby in this hospital. Regardless of the emergency situations I went though in labor, I felt nothing but lucky to have this incredible experience as a first delivery. Great team, high quality service.......... 2 months later after writing the great review, (had to edit my review) Sadly I came to find out that the team actually fractured my baby's collarbone. I spoke too fast. Really really disappointed.
Melanee Baka: 10/10 recommend! I had to switch to high risk at 18 weeks with my 2nd son in 2017/2018. They took me in with open arms. Treated me like family. Always checked on me with my issues. I was induced a week early and my doctor was by my side the whole time! Now I'm pregnant again(high risk again with same issues) and still making the 2 hour drive to see the amazing team here! They listen to all my issues and get me the help and attention I need in a very timely manner!
Alyssa Klein: I rarely write Google Reviews, but I felt like this one was need. Three weeks ago, I called U of M MFM because of an issue pertaining to a high risk pregnancy. I told them I didn't have a lot of time, but they could only schedule me for two weeks out. I'm like kay, I guess I'll have to deal with it. On the appointment day, that was just a 30 minute intake over the phone, the nurse who was assigned to me was not friendly and had attitude. After the intake, the nurse told me that she had to put me on hold, and for me to wait for U of M to schedule me. I waited and waited, but I had told the nurse that I had another doctor's appointment before. So I had to hang up and could not be on hold. Good thing I had another appointment with Henry Ford MFM, because then I find out I dilated and had to be rushed to emergency to save my babies. Furthermore, I called back to the MFM office to give them a friendly update on what happened, and the lady that answered the phone didn't seem to care. She asked me if I was transferring records there, and I said no, the surgery is already completed, I just wanted to let you know what happened. She asks," So you'll just like to cancel, I said yes. Then she said smartly, " Oh, I didn't now what you had met". If you work in a MFM or any type of clinic, work on customer service skills and having compassion for your patients. Your staff represents U of M.P. S. I avoided using names in this post because I feel like with a compliant, maybe people need a second chance.
Zhenna DeBenedet: 10/10 do not reccomend delivering here if you want a natural.birth, even if you go with the midwives.I was lied and manipulated. they were impatient and were continuously looking for problems. I went through 3 different midwife/nurse teams. the two stars is because for the most part the staff were nice but I do not believe they communicated well with eachother at shift changes.again, I just want to leave this review so that if youre debating, I highly recommend not using this hospital. after my experience here I will never willingly deliver in a hospital.they lied about how much blood I was loosing and promised things and didnt follow through multiple times. their monitors for babys heart rate do not work unless someone is constantly holding it to your body.one women said to me "yeah, me doing this with my hands wont really help you deliver any faster" and continued to finger with my vaginia for several hours? so what are you doing then?...do not reccomend. bring a doula if you do.
Crystal Cannon: Mom365 is taking advantage of new moms in this hospital. THey come in tryin to sell you a photo package for $150.00. Their product is not worth it but there is no way for Moms to know until it is too late because they email the photos to you a few weeks later. Also, when new mothers are in the hospital, it is annoying to have salesmen coming into their rooms trying to sell them products. If they don't leave right away, you are very uncomfortable and they keep coming back until you feel obligated to purchase their product just to get rid of them!
Maureen Welch: Long waits, indifferent providers. I'm changing clinics.
Samantha Havro: Apparently they only have one operating room because an emergency patient came and they took her in here instead or er. Didn't get out for 10 hours for a 1 1/2 hour surgery. How disappointing this hospital is.
Fallen Angel: I am not very happy with this place at all. Thanks for messing up my hair(it was very long, thick with curls)..it had so many snarls, knots to the point where I had to see a salon professional. Even they couldn't fix it! The nurses didn't even offer to brush out my hair!
RayRay P: Can't say enough good things about the level of care we received at this hospital. The nursing staff was great coaching me through a long and painful labor. We received constant attention throughout. Loved the birth tub (you do have to ask for a room with a tub; it isn't guaranteed). After our baby was born we were visited by a series of specialists and nursing staff. Super impressed and would highly recommend to any momma-to-be!
Matthew “Memes are gr8” Hubbard: They want to force birth control pills down your throat for anything. I have excruciating pain with periods and they offered me birth control for pain and no periods and i politely said no. No matter what i say they just keep pushing. I read all of the bad side effects and heard not only my friends stories but my sisters too about how they were on it and how many problems they have caused. No matter what i told them they deny that any of their stories were real. By the way birth control does not stop periods it makes them worse and makes you fertile.
Carmen Weeder: This is a wonderful practice for disabled and challenged individuals!
Madaline McQueen: My son was born here in November of 2018. His heart rate was dropping so I was rushed for a emergency C-section. All of the staff was very professional & helpful. My son was born with low blood sugar & stayed a week in the NICU. Although it was the scariest moments of my life the hospital did a wonderful job managing my sons health. I highly recommend this hospital.
