Marcelo Cassani: First I have to say that this place is not 5 stars, it is 6 or more!I do not write reviews so often, I have been in plenty of bookstores but none reached to my heart as this one. The three rooms and an aisle plenty of curated books and photographs provide an eclectic mix of curated antiquarian and contemporary genere.If you are looking for some used and/or rare books then this is your must go place.

Fran (Gooble): Oh, the owner was just so kind. And I had a lovely conversation with someone else there about my heritage which was super fun to delve into. Lots of great books and they're labeled by genre, historical events, countries, etc. Just lovely all around, will definitely come back.

Marianne Kordas: Fun shop to explore for the book lover, absolutely crammed and kinda messy, but in a good way. Still maintains an organization system. Boyfriend bought a collectors set of Lincoln biographies he’s always wanted. Owner was very helpful.Only downside is that this shop is not ADA friendly. There are piles of books on the floor spilling into the narrow aisles as well as two stories of stuffed shelves. Not sure how they keep the fire inspector happy.But otherwise a bibliophile’s paradise!
Chef John: Jay, the owner, is book affectionate and very knowledgeable of classic and rare books. He buys/resells books at West Side Book Shop on West Liberty St. in downtown Ann Arbor.Located half block west of Starbucks coffee near The Ann Arbor Art Center Galleries and Studios. Drop in if you love books.
Heidi Fods: A beautiful little shop stacked floor to ceiling with every kind of book. I nearly took home a two volume set of the Tale of Genji, but restrained myself only because I don't have room for any new books. I would love to visit here again!
Sean Poole: Such a special place. If you love books, you should budget some time to wander the stacks at West Side.

Kari Hofmann: Lovely bookstore! It is like walking into a nutty professors office as you wind through the aisles, discovering treasure after treasure with each turn.
Destiny Lewis: Ann Arbor's best used bookstore. It's only downfall is the same for all of Ann Arbor's stores and restaurants, being overpriced due to out of control and underegulated landlords. They can pretty much price anything as whatever they want. Pushing out citizens who were born and raised in this city.

I don't think I've ever seen anything in there in any kind of order other than what genre/focus the book is, so you have to really search for things and the sheer amount of books there can make that a task, but you are very likely to find what you want.

I have to shout to let him know that we are even there.The instructions into getting in line do NOT work and your employees do NOT see customers standing there. I've tried on 4 different notice.Did not buy the books that another employee kindly directed me to. I will buy them on online.

Lily Lee: Fall 2022 update business has changed its name to Schuler Books, which has been the parent company for quite some time now. It was recently reported that they've leased the space next door that used to be the Thai restaurant and will be expanding the store. I'm not sure when that'll happen, as no work has started yet.Nicola's is such a gem of a bookstore that's in Ann Arbor. So happy that they are still here and that people love books and bookstores. Wide selection of genres and magazines plus other goodies to make great gifts or for yourself. I'll have to take some pics next time.Well managed with safety protocols and people giving reminders throughout the store. Staff is always willing to help and friendly. Please support a local business!
Christina Lirones: Wonderful local bookstore, filled with dreams and delight. My sister ordered a book from her home in California, for me to pick up here. The book was written by a local author, about growing up on a Michigan farm. This used to be the location of Nicola's books, in Westgate shopping center, near the Ann Arbor Public Library branch. So glad it's still a bookstore!

MarkaPhotog: Fantastic bookstore. It still says Nicola’s Books on the sign, but it is a Schuler’s. They are the best Michigan bookstore chain IMO. There are tons of magazines, books, games, kids toys and books and so much more. A huge area in the back for someone to read to kids with chairs set up. My wife and I found this recently and made a special trip down to Ann Arbor to visit. Well worth it. Excellent bookstore.
Jim Shillington: This is my favorite indy bookstore. I have shopped here since it was a Little Professor bookstore. The staff are helpful. Special orders are no problem. The selection of titles is quite good.
Courtney Hooper: Every time I’ve been in here, they’ve been horrible to me and my kids. There’s a massive section of toys and stuffies at the front. Yesterday, my son got very attached to 4 of the stuffies, each of which is over $20. He wanted to carry them all around the store with him. I let him, knowing (1) I may buy him the one shaped like a pretzel because he’s seen it in a few stores and wanted it and (2) like anywhere else, I’d have him put them all back. When we walked to the kids’ section and be brought his stuffies, the manager, “Meegan,” literally followed us back there—it’s on the opposite side of the store. She picked up the stuffies he’d set down, brought them to me, and asked, “Are you planning to buy these?” I said I honestly didn’t know, probably one of them but I didn’t know which, but that I’d obviously put them back either way. She rolled her eyes, sighed, put them back down, and stormed off. That’s definitely when I decided to buy the pretzel stuffy absolutely anywhere else. This is the third time I’ve had an encounter where they’ve made me feel like I’m a monster for the sin of having children in a bookstore with a children’s section. (By the way, we did return the stuffies to their spots on the shelf. But honestly? Don’t have a bunch of kids’ stuff for sale if you don’t want kids to actually touch them.)Later, I saw my elderly dad go ask her a question about a book. She didn’t even look up from what she was doing.I’ll continue to support independent bookstores. It’ll just be Literati and Booksweet.

One to sort me to the other, who located the book quickly, even when I didn't remember the authors name. The Book is The Nineties and my daughter was born in 92! I think she'll have fun with it. Jessica Bennane: The last three times I’ve checked online (or call) to see if they have a certain book, it says there are plenty of copies, and then I get there can’t find it and wait 30 mins for employees to tell me their inventory was off. BY SIXTEEN COPIES THIS TIME. It’s insane. Get it together.

Jenny: Such an awesome treasure of a bookstore tucked away in Ann Arbor. We never leave empty handed. Booksweet curates collections of books to ensure representation of all people. Kid friendly books on diverse topics, the latest best sellers, science fiction, essays, plants, cookbooks, there's a little something for all of the standard sections. If you wander to the back, you'll find an amazing children's section. The books stretch out among the back corner, making it feel cozy and welcoming to kids of all ages. Wander through the front of the store, and you'll find an inclusive collection highlighting race, gender, and other topics. If you're looking for a gift for your favorite person, they have that as well. Locally made items, socks, stickers, sketchbooks, and more are tucked inside as well.

Erica Gardner: Booksweet is on my route home from work so I've gotten quite a few good books there (three great coffee table books, some nature/science books, and more). I also like how they have events for the community and showcase student art on the walls. However, the nonfiction section is pretty limited. The politics, religion, and history sections are very obviously biased in alignment with what I assume are either the owners' ideologies or what they think Ann Arbor residents want. So, if you are looking to find books with different perspectives on an issue, or books about religions other than Buddhism (although I am enjoying the book on Buddhism I purchased there) you will have a hard time finding them at Booksweet, unless you place an order through them.

r vix: This is a great used book store. The owner keeps a fresh selection and is very good at getting unusual and interesting titles. I can spend hours looking through his stacks. Prices are very reasonable and the owner is willing to make suggestions and help you find books to match your interests. The world history and US history sections are very well stocked and I have found some real treasures here over the years. Parking is a bit of an issue, especially on days when the Farmers Market is open. If you are in the Kerry Town area of Ann Arbor, by all means take the time to check out this great shop.
Alexander Jones: I've been going to this bookstore for years, where you will find more of the collectibles and rarities instead of the bigger and mass published books. The owner is a fantastic guy to talk to, and his years of experience always leads to great conversations and recommendations for new books to enjoy.

Claire I Milldrum: This is the place to buy Loeb Classics. The staff is super helpful and knowledgeable. Check out their culinary section. It's impressive.
V Figueroa: I was looking for classic children's book, and they had it- good inventory. The staff seemed well-read and book historians. Knowledgeable and pleasant, but efficient. They made my browsing, reading and buying experience the best I've had at a bookstore in a while. Lots of treasures, some a few centuries old. I tried to cancel my order and they said company policy does not allow that. I am struggling in class without my textbooks and it's been A MONTH AND A HALF and I can't even get a refund. Anya Listen: Do not buy textbooks from here! Told me my books would be available in a week. It's been over a month, and I still don't have all of them. Finally cancelled my order with them (which they were not helpful about).
Justin Baltz: Ordered two diploma frames on the webpage. Due to back ordering issues, I called the bookstore to place a new order. The store manager, Jaime, had great customer service and helped me put in an order and shipped it fast. It was the second day of classes and they were great responding to emails and calling me back even though I knew they were extremely busy. I appreciate the awesome diploma frames.
