Arbor Center for Eating Recovery | Eating Disorders, Intuitive Eating, Health at Every Size: what do users think?
Alison Argue: After dealing with some eating disorder professionals that did not fit my recovery journey, I found Mariah and I could not be more happier with her!!!! She really knows how to motivate me. Mariah truly understands what it’s like to be in recovery from an eating disorder. You will not feel shamed or judged when meeting with her. I have NOTHING BUT GOOD THINGS TO SAY!!! I recommend her to everyone.
Emily Gabler: She is not just your standard dietitian. Helps you really understand your relationship with food in all aspects. If you Struggle with binge eating, look no further.
Tessa Gawrych: Mariah has been so helpful in my recovery journey. She really customized my plan to meet my personal nutritional needs and to move me towards intuitive eating. When I needed to return to a higher level of care, she was gracious and recommended some programs that aligned with my needs. Although her primary job is to monitor nutrition, she really listens to the emotional aspect of my relationship with food and ties it in to my nutritional goals. I would absolutely recommend Mariah to anyone looking to improve their relationship with food!
Lori Eshenroder: My daughter and I found Mariah doing an internet search. I, as a parent was feeling lost and hopeless. That quickly changed into hope and promise immediately after our first session. Mariah was a perfect fit for my daughter. She was more than just knowledgeable about poor relationships with food, she's an expert. My daughter clicked with her right away. She really took time to get to know her. She was also knowledgeable about medical impacts on the body and guided us to the appropriate steps to keep everything monitored with our pediatrician. Mariah referred us to a wonderful counselor and has helped my daughter have a better relationship with food.
Molly Michaels: Life changing! Mariah is incredible. She has a wealth of information, is willing to go at the speed you are comfortable with and is extremely empathetic. She is more than a standard nutritionist. If you are struggling with an eating disorder or body image issues and find yourself going in circles do yourself a favor and see her. Also for those who have experienced trauma and are in treatment for it you will find that working with Mariah ties in nicely with it. Very grateful I found her!
Kim Smallwood: I had to cut my sessions with Mariah short for personal reasons, but I will absolutely be reaching back out to her for support once I'm able. She's incredibly knowledgeable, easy to talk to, and clearly cares about doing what's best for her clients. 10/10 would recommend.

Anxiety & OCD Treatment Center: what do users think?
Mark Chiang: It was tedious filling out several forms more than 2 months ago and then another set of forms (that seem very similar) 6 weeks ago. I have not heard back since. I recommend providing only one email address since they will sometimes communicate with a different email address. I also recommend emailing them a lot to get their attention.
Edward Vogel: We have known since our daughter was young that she had a significant struggle with anxiety. She saw at least 4 therapists over several years who were minimally helpful, if at all. We have now seen significant progress with her anxiety/OCD and are grateful that things finally worked out to get in at Anxiety Center. My only disappointment is that the wait list is so long; we clearly need more qualified therapists in Ann Arbor. But it has been my experience that it's pretty much worthless to go elsewhere with a kid with significant anxiety.
Jamie Colter: Would recommend Dr LaRosa to anyone needing help with anxiety and/or ADD. I found her after going to someone whom disagreed with my medication regimen - fortunately I found Dr LaRosa who was much more open and knowledgeable regarding medications.
Asif Khan: Great therapists
Lizard Lizard: The clinicians are excellent, but the office makes scheduling, billing, and FAQ quite difficult in a way I've not experienced before. Only losing stars due to this, as it impeded treatment for our family. I would recommend U of M instead if you and your family have daytime availability.
Madeline Mortimer: I saw Angela Ayoub, LMSW and she has really helped me with my Germaphobe OCD. I unfortunately had to cut our time short together due to my own schedule but now I know the tools to continue to work on my exposures. I feel more relaxed now and am doing things I never thought I would do. Thanks!
Rachel Potts: Knowledgable, kind therapist who went out of her way to provide excellent care.

Ann Arbor DBT Center: what do users think?
Jada Frederick: Started therapy here last fall, started with a therapist and a group therapy group. Had about 3 or 4 sessions of both, and have to say it was the most useless therapy I have ever had. Not only that, but my therapist actually quit? Then I get a bill, which like whatever nothing is free in this world, and I can’t afford the bill so I go on a payment plan. There have been two separate times now where they have charged my account my full amount due instead of charging what my payment plan agreement is. When I asked why this keeps happening, I got an “it was just a mistake”. As someone with anxiety, and as a business that is supposed to treat people for such issues, I’m honestly shocked and appalled at the carelessness displayed by this therapy center.
Sylvia Stepien03: My sister goes to therapy here and I feel like shes made more progress here than anywhere else. I hope she keeps getting better. If you need help this seems like a solid place to start working on getting better. I recommend this therapy center to many patients I see in my ER.
Natalie GRUBBS: This saved my sons life. It’s a year long program with group and one on one sessions. It teaches you how to deal with situations with you have no hope left
Jacqueline Jacobs: zero communican with parents, they change my insurance a TON and does not seem to be that helpful to my child
alyssa: I do not recommend. One of the one on one therapists are extremely forgetful, would have to tell them things multiple times, over and over and over. Was also called out for picking at my nails, a thing I do when I get anxious, and proceeded to accuse me of being on my phone and told me to not pick at my nails again. Is an EXTREME medication pusher, wouldn’t take no for an answer. I told them i didn’t want to go on more meds but kept pushing them. Group was extremely awkward, no one spoke until called on.
Sav: I left before completion.well I was kicked out for calling my therapist a c*ntbut that’s exactly why I needed the therapy.Marsha says that dbt puts a huge emphasis on not terminating therapy because of a clients problems.im just now starting to recover from the abandonment of this place 4 years later.only 9 people in the state have a board certification for dbt specifically and I don’t think any of them work here.I highly recommend the DBT center of Michigan, they have 2 board certified therapists
Krystina Stepien: I’ve been seeing a therapist for almost 7 months now. C.L. has been great, phone coaching has really helped me especially with targeting behaviors. Overall care is really good. You can tell Carol and her team are dedicated to helping their clients and my individual therapist for sure has gone above and beyond to give me the best care possible. Super caring individual and really gentle which has been super helpful. Group therapy is helpful especially when figuring out what works and what doesn’t. This is an exceptional DBT clinic.
Rosie Parra: This was a few years back but I Saw Dave I won he did tell me that I cut myself because I was bored he told me to just quit with all the suicide attempt and cutting he basically made fun of me for me in a wheelchair he just kept continuing asking over and over again “I don’t understand how you need to have a wheelchair if you have a headache” he basically wouldn’t help me figure out what was bothering me he was just like so how does that affect you and I would say I don’t know and he wouldn’t explain any father he yelled at me once because I said I don’t know.
R Klay: The individual therapist, one of the newer ones on their staff, was completely unable to connect with my teen in a meaningful way and did not seem to have an understanding of even the fundamental symptoms of anxiety.EDITED TO ADD: After finally speaking with the head clinician to share my frustration, I'd change this rating to zero stars if I could. I guess I expected an apology for our awful experience or at the very least an expression of empathy - or even an offer of the opportunity to meet with a (more qualified) therapist or try one of their groups. Nothing of the sort was offered, just a curt and dismissive response. I'll be sharing this experience with the health care facility that recommended the DBT Center, and would caution anyone who's in limbo on the DBT Center's (surprisingly long) waitlist for an individual appointment to give the therapist a thorough vetting over the phone before taking the time (and money) to meet in person. I was so happy to get off the waitlist that I failed to do so. Luckily we found a great therapist elsewhere (and what a contrast to this experience!!) There are plenty in this town - it's worth asking around to find them.
Traven Pelletier: My wife and a number of my friends have been patients here and all of them have grown tremendously from their work with the Center! This is a great place to work on retraining yourself to be your best self, or working through negative and harmful behavioral patterns and traumas.
Kristy Pelletier: This program is fantastic! Once you allow yourself to give into change it helps with all kinds of emotional and behavioral problems. It works if you work it, and you need to want to be better. It changed my life, I'm so happy and have learned to love myself again!
Unpaid Intern: Totall scam, litterally stole money out of my coat while I went to the bathroom
C Z: Dropped us from care in the middle of an intense crisis, literally canceling sessions we had scheduled, leaving me with a mentally ill teenager and ZERO care. They then had the gall to call back two months later asking "if they could help with any transition in care for my child". To add insult to injury, we were on a waiting list for months to get seen by these garbage therapists. They failed us spectacularly and it was horrible. I beg you to look elsewhere.Edit 2/12/19: my review has not been followed up on. I'm not surprised.
Brandon McGlashen: Can not get a call back after a referral from UM. Ive left 3 voicemails. If you're full...communicate that to people who are trying to get help so they can look for alternatives in the interim.
Ariel R: I found them to be very helpful and caring.
Colleen Wivell: This program is outstanding for teenagers who have black & white thinking and suffer from self harm. After 2 years of struggling, I feel we are finally making progress. The content is putstanding and Rachel & Mackenzie do a great job of leading group. It’s not just about “fixing the teen”, but working with the family to function better together.
Morgan Rondinelli: The Ann Arbor DBT Center both saved and changed my life. My therapist was fantastic. I graduated the program and left with countless coping skills. Thank you to everyone there!!
Lauren Duff: Six months into the program my individual therapist quits, then my therapist for my group quits. The replacement quits too. So now I have a temporary therapist for one month who I can’t reach because she never gave me her phone number, and then I have to switch to another therapist. Then I’m supposed to switch to a fourth therapist. NOPEThis is disrupting my care. Do not go here. You are better off getting DBT from an individual therapist than in a group setting where one person can derail the whole class and no one stops them. They also don’t have an ability to swipe cards or process payment by cards and take too long to cash checks. I’m sorry, taking a month and a half to cash my check is unacceptable.Good luck reaching their billing department, it’s some random third party biller.I’m so glad that I’ll be done with this place in less than a month, I wish I just stuck with my regular therapist and did DBT with her because this was a waste of time.
Stephanie Cole: The style of therapy wasn't one that worked for our family. We had lack of communication from our individual therapist overall. It was also difficult to receive a call back from our individual or one of our group leaders. Not only did we pay our co-pay for individual therapy, but we paid 2 co-pays for our group therapy since the center wouldn't bill group sessions as family sessions. Very disappointed since UofM recommended this center so high, but I would not recommend it to anyone.
