junior rivera: I want to give this place a better review. I only know of one mechanic here who was great which is the reason I came back. I towed my car here to get it diagnosed as I had a nostart issue, they said they tried to crank and it wouldn't and that they tried other things to see if it would crank but this is where my issue lies. I am not sure they did anything or tested anything because I did exactly what I was told was done to the car as a test, and it worked for me. I am happy that my engine works, but disappointed I spent time and money at this place as I ended up towing my car out of there due to their misdiagnosis. I understand this may also be just one person slacking but I figured everyone here knew what they were doing.Service:Auto engine diagnostic
Heather Hansen: While out of town I broke down. This was the closest shop I could limp my car too. They changed my fuel intake sensor and charged me $457 dollars!!! The price I looked up saysthe job ranges from $147 to $161 for parts and labor. The nice man knew what was wrong, right away but they did not provide and itemized receipts. My car IS fixed and i made it home but the price is not sitting right with me. So today I contacted them to email me a copy. Let's hope it's a billing mistake and they respond quickly.I hope this isn't one of those times women get taken advantage of but I will definitely update! If it is, I probably should have just gotten a hotel and towed my car elsewhere and it still would have been cheaper, but I needed to get home for work in the morning.

Marissa: I just got my car back from Main Street motors and I just want to say that this place is amazing. They got me in super quickly and were able to fix the hood of my car, change my radiator and headlight within a day. They even fixed the dent in my driver's side door. I'm so thankful to the guys here because other shops I went to this week were not doing repairs until February. I would highly recommend this place if you need work done on your car!
Bonnie McKinley: Horrible customer service. Logged on to the website, went to the “make an appointment” button, went through the instructions. Someone emailed me and asked me what time I would like to come in for my oil change, I said 10am. I dropped the car off for my appointment, 7 hours later, my car was finally ready. I had called twice previously to see what the problem was…when I called to ask if there was a problem Mr.Max told me Main Street motors was a drop off service, first come first serve and I should have known that. He also said I should have told him I needed my car back in a hurry. I told him I didn’t need my car back in a hurry, but I also did not think it would be there all day (7 hours). I asked him for the benefit of his future customers to please communicate better….it was really difficult for him, but he said they would try to do better, but I should have known it would take all day since I did not ask them to rush. I’ve gotten at least 100 oil changes in my life, I’ve not run into this problem before. Good luck Max and good luck to anyone who is not first in line

We've had them service a few of our cars over the years and they have always been attentive, straight forward and honest. Recently we had an older car in for brake service and they noticed a potentially dangerous situation with the frame. Instead of just doing the brake work and not letting us know, they alerted us to the danger and gave us advice on what to do next. No charge. Good people. Sean Dalton: I took my car here for a stalling issue, I was told the issue was fixed after spending over $800 for spark plugs and a fuel system clean. The day I picked the car up the stalling happened before I could even leave the parking lot. I left my car for another 4 days and was told they “couldn’t get the stalling to happen for them” and to bring it back once it shows a code. Don’t waste your money here, I took the car to the dealership where they were able to find the actual problem and fix it within the same day.These guys should stick to oil changes as that’s about as far as their skill set goes. Would not recommend to anyone and would rate lower if I could.Also would like to add I never once went for a “ride” with the service advisor as the owner below stated. He seems to just brush off people that have valid claims as to why this place is a joke and continually discredit them in his “responses”
Michael Billingsley: This shop is full of con artists who claim to fix things that immediately prove to be false once leaving the shop. They then turn around and say nothing can be done. Also if you call early enough in the morning you may get to hear Eric the seeming manager be clearly drunk still from the night before. Avoid this place at all cost. Not only did they openly claim to not have a clue of how to “clear all of the check engine lights”, by the time I got home after a 10min drive the light for my particle fuel filter came on which is a part they claim to have completely replaced. Furthermore, they offered no solution and will be hearing from my attorney. David Morrow: This place has really gone downhill. I've been taking my car to them as long as I can remember and the service quality has been declining over the past 5 years. The straw that broke the camel's back was when they decided it was a good idea to close early on a Friday before they finished the oil change on my car that I had scheduled for Thursday.

Dillon Scott: I've used this place for 2 engine services so far. I have had decking of block and head, valve seals, springs, cylinder bore and hone, crack checking, inspection, and cleaning. I am extremely impressed with everyone there, but most with Garrett. He contacted me multiple times during work to verify what parts I needed for the new dimensions and had the work done very quick. Everything was coated and bagged to be picked up both times. Prices are extremely fair for the quality of work done and is agreed upon up front and any changes are agreed via phone call. I will continue to use this machine shop in the future.

I was told I needed a brake job even though I had yet to hear any brake noises. I was quoted $500 over the phone for “the brake job”. At the end I was charged for $940 for oil change and brake job. From the quote I was given over the phone I expected $600 at most. I’m just presenting facts here but I can’t help but to feel lied to. Shane HalFerty: The staff was very friendly and polite over the phone, through email, and in-person. Even with the transition to their new location they were prompt and helpful. I appreciated being able to wait while the work was being done (I do not like leaving my vehicles anywhere to have something done then having to wonder how it was treated or if it was taken for a joyride in my absence). I liked that before starting they asked me questions to clarify what was needing done and then asked me again midway through about what I'd prefer to do when they encountered a cracked hose I didn't know about (I like being kept in the loop rather than being about to leave and hearing a casual by the way 'oh yea we did this and this'). They did not try to up-sell me when I asked about possible future work needed on my coolant, but rather were honest and said I was fine for now. (I am not a trusting person in general, but having mechanic work done is definitely an area where I'm extra on edge about the sometimes lack of checks and balances and work accountability on the part of the shop, so it was nice to not get that irritating vibe where you have to question 'alright do I really need that done to my car or is this mechanic just seeing me as an ATM'.) It was nice that the staff were able to interact with each other and talk and laugh in passing, but also keep working and not be horsing around on my dime. I greatly appreciated and duly noted the inclusion on their google maps details about them being an LGBTQ+ friendly business. Aaron Kashmer: So I just purchased a 2000 SAAB 9-5 that K&N has worked on. It was previously owed by an kind elderly gentleman. In the few years they have been giving him service they have NOT taken advantage of him. I have All the receipts for the life of the car and as a DIY mechanic I can objectively look at bills and tell what was a scam. In his records he had over $10,000 in mostly unneeded repairs by an unnamed local Dealership. Just by looking at the bills, I can see, I will be sending any issue I can't deal with to these guys.... Good form fellas.

There is always such great customer service, my car inspection (including pictures) comes to me through email, and they made a scary process a lot more tolerable. Colleen Kloor: After paying the $135 diagnosis fee, I received a quote of almost $900 for the repair. Two other auto shops in Ann Arbor quoted the same repair at $425 and $450 respectively. I'm extremely disappointed to lose $135 since I was already aware of the problem they found. The money is down the drain since I certainly won't be using them for the repair because they are more than double the price of other businesses. Really regret having stopped by. I wish I would have read all the negative reviews sooner,because I certainly would have avoided this place all together.

Michael: I give them a 5 star on every thing they did. The boss is very nice, two mechanics are super knowledgeable. They help me a lot by giving me a free quick check on my car, and point out the real problem instead of me saying what's the problem is and save me the money. Very very nice place to recommend if your car has some issue and let them fix it.

On a number of occasions they have said this is what you need to get done to make the car safe to drive and said they are other things you can do but aren't necessary. I really appreciate that type of service because it lets me choose what I want to get done and how much I need to spend. I can't recommend Packard Auto enough.

I got the following quote from PAR and because it was a very expensive quote of $3849.41 I decided to save some $ and take it to my brother’s auto shop in Farmington Hills. This is really inconvenient for me but given the price was well worth th drive in. He is a very reputable and has had a garage for 30 + years. He charges me 200.84. You can see the attached quotes and exactly what my brothers recommendations were to stop the noise my car was making. I went back into PAR to show them my car was fixed for $200 saving me a grand total of $3826.57. They stood by their original quote. Wow! Take what you will from this. Peace.

Nate Berent-Spillson: AC wasn’t working. The did a systematic troubleshooting and communicated all along the way. It ended up being the compressor, so not cheap to fix but the air is icy cold now!

David Chambers: Steve and rob seemed generally competent whenever I 1st met them. They diagnosed my Allison transmission as having a bad 5th gear. I replaced the Transmission with a warranted new unit. The truck started having problems immediately.. I took it back to the same transmission shop same transmission shop Steve and Bob told me that 3rd year was bad in the new one. They then kept it for one month telling me they were gonna look at it or work on it. They lost the keys and didn't do anything besides locked themselves out. I had the original transmission taken apart and inspected and there was no damage to 5th year. Legal proceedings will begin shortly. I would never recommend this shop. Thomas Cheeseman: The good:- Very nice on phone- I believe the diagnostics were correct, though they just checked the codeThe bad:- Shop told me the part from the dealer cost $800, I called the dealer to confirm it is $480.- Shop said the time they would charge me for is 6 hours, more than double the time listed in the book- Shop tried to tell me I needed a licensed mechanic with special codes from the dealer to replace a transmission, this is just not true. I did check the manufacturer to be sure and the listed procedures in the system (access to licensed shop)I can't recommend them, they tried to feed me a lot of incorrect information. Talked to another shop and the same work from them was quoted at $350 for the part (not dealer) and 2 hours to replace. Overall 1/3 the cost they quoted me. I'd stay away.

This was not like that when we dropped it off this morning. We did not leave the parking lot went right back inside. The man said bring it back next week. We asked if he could look at it and if it was safe to drive. He said he was busy, shrugged his shoulders and said just bring it back next week. So we are stuck with a more broken car then we had this morning for at least the weekend. Ann Arbor Hardwoods LLC: Had them rebuild a Transmission in one of our F150 trucks a year and a half ago. Then transmission went again last week. Planetary gear is bad they told me there is no way it would go bad unless something else is bad. I found this to be inaccurate information. I contacted 2 other local transmission shops and was told that this is a really common issue with that truck and transmission. I was told that there is a needle thrust bearing that commonly goes bad and causes this exact issue. I was then told that since it is a commercial vehicle We only get a one year warranty which was not told to me during the initial repair. They did offer me a $2300 rebuild compared to the $2700 they charged me last time. I get it things break but not feeling great about them misleading me and not telling me about the warranty on a commercial vehicle. I gave them 2 starts because it worked for a year and a half.Service:Transmission
