Muehlig Funeral Chapel: what do users think?
Kelly Campbell: Update:After submitting my survey results, the funeral Director Scott called me first thing the next morning. He was very apologetic about our experience and assured me he had spoken to Pastor Kevin and his staff. He offered a partial refund of some of costs to make up for the bad experience. He was very sincere and I really appreciated his quick response and heartfelt apology.Original post:Pastor Kevin was almost 10 mins late to start the service. He didn’t introduce himself to our family beforehand, thus he didn’t know my name (the daughter) who did the slideshow. He simply read from the eulogy the obituary that we had written. He didn’t use any of the material we had provided him in our meeting (that we had to request several times) - printed testimonials from Dad’s colleagues and students.Pastor Kevin also didn’t greet us the next day at the burial either. The first and only thing he said to me was that it was good I was wearing sensible shoes. He didn’t greet my mom, the widow of over 60 years, at all. The readings he selected were not at all comforting. He was awful. The link to view the live service remotely wasn’t up on the obituary webpage, even thought we asked about this in the very first meeting with Kelsey. She forgot to mention it in the handoff to Laurie, who was there on the day of the service. I had to call Muehlig the night before the service and make sure it was added, when I was trying to receive family and friends coming into town in person. The links were very hard to find on the page. I should not have had to project manage this detail the night before the service.Despite ordering catering for 40 people, they didn’t not even refill the water container. Really?!I would not recommend Muehlig to anyone.
Betsy Taylor: Muehlig's staff took wonderful care of our family at both our father and mother's funerals. We highly recommend their services.
Hilary Duranso: My family experienced an extremely difficult loss and Scott showed compassion and empathy throughout the entire process. In addition, he was very communicative which was greatly appreciated.
Angela Bowers: We cannot thank you enough for all that you did for our family today. I’ve never been met with so much compassion and professionalism. You truly lifted many burdens on such a tough day. Thank you for handling us with such care.
betty rubble: They took wonderful care of my brother, Richard. We had to work with them on the phone as we live out of state. Kelsey is incredible. She held our hand throughout the entire process. She’s both compassionate and patient. We’re so grateful for their long distance help.
Maria Sabatini: Scott Hurrell handled my mother’s funeral. He was professional, and went above and beyond to provide a beautiful service and all of our printing needs. Scott provided comfort and guidance throughout the process. He often anticipated our needs and took charge when needed. Our family will be eternally grateful to him and the Muehlig family.
Sharon Hayhurst: Very professional and easy to work with. Many are opting for cremation because of prices but if you have chosen a burial they are convenient to the Ann Arbor grave yards and are very good at what they do.This is the 2nd generation of our family they have served.
Michael Koepke: Kevin and his team did a fantastic job in assisting with the funeral procedures for my late sister. They went above and beyond with their service and were always easy to communicate with. My entire family was thoroughly pleased with everything they provided for us.
Tony England: My family's experience with Muehlig Funeral Chapel has twice been all that I could have desired. The experience they offer is professional, empathetic, and personal. I particularly thank Kelsey, the Muehlig Funeral Director, who was always there to assure that plans became reality and to adapt when the inevitable surprises occurred.
Jeff May: The short lead time we provided to the Muehlig staff (and St. Francis Church) left no time for error. The proper viewing, cremation and burial was due to Kevin, Ryan and the Muehlig staff's hard work. The May family is eternally grateful.
H W: Kevin Jacobi went out of his way to accommodate our family. He was patient and helpful during the whole process. We will never forget his kindness and compassion and will definitely use Muehlig in the future.
Lydia Goodlow: Na⁹
Karen Barton Doute: At the most difficult times in our lives... the loss of someone SO dear to us... could not imagine letting anyone but Meuligs in Ann Arbor handle this for our family. 🙏.... Thank you Ryan , Alex and Laura so very much!
Julia Easson: Very helpful and thoughtful during this difficult time. Took care of all the details I could not even try to face. Thank you
Ellen Osborn: The Muehlig Funeral Home has helped our family enormously with the caring and understanding needed to go through the process of a funeral for our mother during a pandemic. They were so cooperative regarding our needs of managing a funeral from a remote location. The staff was professional, kind and informative. We will always be grateful to everyone at Muehlig, with special thanks to Alexandra.
Sue Nix: We prepaid, which took a lot of the stress and last minute decisions out of the process. They were helpful every step of the way.Services provided as expected, questions promptly answered and billing discrepancies were refunded without question on two minor items.
Liz CONLIN: Kevin Jacobi, the Director at Muehlig's is wonderful. Very compassionate and pragmatic about the type of arrangements our family wanted for my father. He and his office staff were very efficient and explained the process and the paperwork that was needed for the arrangements and the death certificate. We had not gone through this process before and were very relieved that he made it very easy for us and guided us through it all. I can recommend them without hesitation.
Jean Teifer: Sarah was really wonderful; compassionate, patient and kind. It is a difficult time and I am most appreciative of having her there to help me through the process. Thank you!
Ronald Koenig: They handled a very sad occasion to perfection. We were very grateful.
Nancy Altman: My brother died unexpectedly last year at U of M Hospital, the hospital recommended muehlig Funeral Chapel. In our grief we did not know what to expect price wise. We had him cremated and we were charged $3,300 and he was delivered in a cardboard box, 6 months later my father-in-law passed away and his cremation was $1,500 at a different funeral home for the same services, beware of this funeral home....they will severely overcharge you.
Dana Knight: They did a great job with everything from beginning to end.

Nie Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc: what do users think?
Rachel Bronson: Nie Family Funeral Home went above and beyond for us when we were dealing with the loss of our baby. All of the little touches and extra kindnesses showed the thoughtfulness that they had put into helping us grieve and giving us closure at an impossible time. They were so generous and gentle. Highly recommend.
Roy J. Bailey: They made a Horrific situation bearable!Very supportive and kind, respectful. Very thorough in explaining everything.I don't know what I will do without my wife!Yet my Daughter and I were able to calmly and respectfully take care of what was necessary!
Robert Czechowicz: We had the facility for 2 days over a weekend and it worked out great for us. Plenty of room yet intimate and comfortable. The people were very nice and very accomodating, anticipating the number of guests the 2nd day and setting up extra chairs, and because we were from put of town, going out of their way to personally check on our floral order at a shop nearby.
Diana Dahart: Many thanks to the wonderful people at Nie Funeral Home for helping to make a difficult time easier. Each person I spoke with was personable and caring. Highly recommend their services.
Latoria Edwards: I partnered with Nie when my Mother passed. The staff did so much more than simply provide a service - their efforts are unmatched. They’ve been incredibly patient with my sister and I. Clearly communicated necessary steps in processes and continuously offered updates along the way. They’ve eliminated so much stress and anxiety for us. After my Mother’s arrangements have been finalized they’ve maintained contact to see how we’re doing and if there’s anything else they can help us with. I will be recommending Nie to anyone in need. You will not be disappointed.
Charles Jenkins: Their attention to detail was memorable. This applies particularly in follow up services
Heather Beasley: This place is amazing. very caring, sweet and nice people. They are very helpful as well. the only complaint that I have is that they washed my daughter's plentington blanket and when they told us the blanket was in the washer we asked for them not to put it in the dryer bc the blanket is wool. When we went to go pick my daughter's ashes and belongings they had put the blanket in the dryer and the blanket is now messed up forever.....I am saddened by this bc this blanket is very special.
Chelsea Ford: Nie assisted with father's memorial. I interacted with no less than four staff members throughout the process, and each was so kind, helpful, sensitive, and detail oriented. For a hard time in life, they gave peace of mind with clear directions and options. I thought they went above and beyond in their professionalism and care. Would highly recommend.

Nie Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc: what do users think?
Autumn S: Beautiful place with thoughtful amenities. The staff were kind and explained the process clearly from one step to the next. The deceased had elected his arrangements a year before his passing and the execution was seamless. They were patient with our process and did a good job at respecting the body all the way through including the mechanics of lowering the body in the ground. We couldn't have asked for better in a time like this. Thank you.
George: A heartfelt thanks to the entire staff that helped my family. Their individual and collective contributions gave me peace of mind, as I was mourning the loss of my dad. I wanted to add, that they checked up on me and provided resources to get help for grieving.
Barbara Concannon: Kiki and the staff were kind, compassionate, and professional in all respects. I highly recommend them.
Michael Musci: Our situation with the passing of my mother involved coordination with another funeral home out of state. Lisa was exceptional in her attention to detail. She was sensitive and kind in her approach. We would highly recommend Nie.
Shelby Daugherty: We have always had wonderful experiences here over the years for our loved ones that have passed. Unfortunately, THEY ordered my jewelry incorrectly even after circling it in front of an employee. I reached out about the issue and they’re willingto add to what I have, not order what I picked out and chose. I’m super disappointed that they failed to order it correctly and failed to fix their own mistakes. After already having spent the money for the first necklace, it’s not something I’m willing to chance again with them. I would suggest purchasing jewelry in rememberance of your loved ones through someone else so you get exactly what you chose and not what was ordered by mistake.
mary wessner: We had a very nice experience at the most terrible time in our life. Kiki, Melissa and Monica we very helpful, kind and understanding. We felt like they truly cared. They made a difficult process as easy and pleasant as possible.
Jan Rajlich: My family had an exceptional experience with Nie Funeral Home. Tom was always available and helped walk us through the process, with clear communication, every step of the way.
Richard Nye: We could not have asked for better care from all the staff at Nie Family Funeral Home at Liberty Road, Ann Arbor. Outstanding in every way. Richard Nye & Family.
Janice Arms: Our first experience with them was wonderful but three years ago it was totally different.Six years ago there was a total different staffWhen our son passed away 3 years ago it was a nice ghtmare from the very first moment.
John Ford: The Nie team was terrific. We had a handful of very specific requests for the visitation and funeral. Every request we made was gracefully and completely accommodated.
Jennifer TfromMI: The employees have a great measure of empathy and professionalism. Our family appreciates the Kindness and concern given to us in the time of grieving. Michael Slovinski family
C H: I too was at the Saturday memorial that was just reviewed by another and could not of said it any better!!!! So unprofessional. The family ended up with roughly 150 of the tribute programs that where not being refilled that so many of us would of loved to of had, is just unbelievable and unacceptable. My heart goes out to the family.
Tracey Mayrand: Terrible! So unprofessional. I attended a memorial this past Saturday here and Instead of alleviating some of the pain this young man's family was experiencing by providing a thoughtful well-done memorial honoring their son, brother & father, Nie's Funeral Home piled more layers of pain and frustration on top of this family. The slide show had photos of strangers in it including what looked like a mug shot of some random person. The three songs the family choose to share during the memorial sounded horrible, like they didn't know how to use the sound system. Digital Slide shows and playing music through a speaker system is NOT new technology. These are basic IT skills that all funeral homes should have mastered by now. The staff responsible for that ceremony should be ashamed of the service they provided
anonymous anonymous: My husband and I had a stillborn Sep 2017. Nie funeral home coordinate with the hospital for our sons cremation. They where so sweet to my husband and I. I know our son was well taken care of. They made this heart breaking experience a little easier for us. We appreciate you guys so much!
Jerri: They handled my father's funeral in July of 2015 after C&H Funeral Home and Ypsilanti screwed everything up. They fixed their mistakes and they were there for us in our time of bereavement. I highly recommend them. They helped to make a stressful and heartbreaking process more bearable.
Pucks Corner: It was nice

Generations Funeral-Cremation: what do users think?
Tina Knight: Went in to arrange cremation for my brother who passed away. No empathy whatsoever and it felt very rushed. Also just felt "dismissed" at the end, like they were in a hurry to get on to their next task
E W: Found everyone to be kind, respectful, helpful, and thorough. I'm so grateful for their service through the whole process.
Mary Ferguson: They were recommended to me by Arbor Hospice, when my husband was close to passing away at home. He wanted a simple cremation, and I found them to be very respectful and compassionate throughout the whole process. I would highly recommend them to anyone.
Drew Pikstein: Thank you for your kindness and professionalism during this time. I have recommended your services to others.
Curt Putney: They were more than accommodating. From my experience I would highly recommend them.
Yitah Wu: Generations was recommended by Arbor Hospice. They were compassionate, respectful, efficent, and well-prepared. Excellent communication throughout the process, their effort was much apprecated at a trying time for us
Nathan Hickling: I have used Generations for 2 loved ones now. They are very professional and helpful. There are a lot of steps to take when a death occurs and there are complexities when parts of the deceased need to donated for research. Generations listened, prepared me and helped in every way. All at a reasonable price.
ShA RoN: Ingham and Livingston county Hospice highly recommended Generations. We have not been in this situation before and they were very helpful and came within an appropriate amount of time to pick my grandmother up. We live almost an hour from Ann Arbor and they came out after midnight while it was raining and did not treat the situation as an inconvenience at all. They expressed their condolences and I want to personally thank those two gentlemen for the special touch they did upon leaving her room. I am tearing up writing this but want to tell everyone how special this was. After they left, I walked by my grandmother's room and seen they way they set her bed up. They took her two bed pillows and positioned them where her head and abdomen were laying. Then they took the sheet and positioned it to look like her legs and covered it with her blanket. Wow, I know it may not be special to everyone but it was so nice to look in there and not see an empty space in her bed where she used to be. In our case, we were used to checking on grandma frequently and the pillow body helped us get used to her not being there. To the gentleman who were working the evening of march 23rd 2017, we want to thank you for that special gesture and appreciate your services we received. Out of habit I peeked in her room a couple times that night and seeing the faint figure helped tremendously.
Robert Smith: I found Generations to be extremely helpful and friendly. They walked me through the process providing crucial information—in a time that I was grieving—in a patient and calm manner. I would highly recommend this business. Thank you.
Ellery Sarosi: We found Generations in Ann Arbor to be unfeeling and businesslike upon my father's death and cremation. For example, their phone call to notify us his remains were available for pickup went to my daughter and the caller did not ask to speak to the son of the deceased who made the arrangements, or even an adult, rather just blurted out to her that "you have a pickup to make and we are closing soon". No condolences, no nothing. Like we had to pick up a package from Walmart, not my father's remains.

Catherine Maki: Compassionate, extremely courteous and very kind.
L Wos: Professional, Compassionate, Attention to Detail, Goes the Extra Mile for the Families. My Dad was a WWII Veteran and they helped us get Dad buried at The Great Lakes National Cemetery, secure a rifle unit from the Holly chapter of the VA to give him a 21 gun Salute and arrange with the Cemetery to give Dad a send off with full military honors. V-S even had the US ARM Insignia added to the inside lid of his casket and the US ARMY emblem applied it onto the exterior of the Hearst as he traveled to his final resting place in Holly. My Mom passed on New Years Day 2023 and they couldn't have done anything better for us. My brother was in the military and his staff help collect all the needed paperwork for him to be laid to rest at Fort Custer in Battle Creek. They even ordered honors for him. Thank You, Jim-you & your staff are best!
DIY Maestro: My young son recently passed away and all of a sudden I had to make a decision about where to send his remains.I’ve passed this funeral many times on the way to taking my kids to school. It always struck me as such a classy building with a beautiful surroundings just outside the hustle and bustle of Plymouth. It was the natural choice. The funeral parlor or Director, Matt showed exceptional care and patience while we worked within our budget. Even with the Covid restrictions he gave us multiple options. We elected to opt for a small funeral which was absolutely perfect. What was really remarkable was just how well my son was prepared for visitation. He looked peaceful, happy, and most importantly just like I remember him. In short they did an exceptional job.I give this funeral home a full-5 star rating. Highly recommend.
Maria Cancel: Vermeulen were wonderful for my mother's service. Staff was very helpful. Thank you so much.

Lai Wa Wu: Best funeral home in town. the intentionality, considerateness and care Matthew is taking to support our family is priceless. We visited another funeral home service prior to deciding on Vermeulen, and the difference in quality of service, attention to detail, kindness and compassion expressed in staff were INCOMPARABLE. From the beginning, it was clear how deeply he respected and empathized with our loss. Matthew greeted us at the door, asked questions about how our uncle passed, took careful notes of our preferences, what was important to us in the viewing and service, and made sure we were comfortable, at ease. He was so patient with us and answered any and every question we had, explaining each and every step of the process. He took such thoughtful care of our uncle and accommodated to all of our cultural funeral traditions. Because of people like Matt and others at Vermeulen, our family was able to solely focus on our own grieving, and for that, we are deeply grateful.Thank you to Matthew and all the staff at Vermeulen-Sajewski. I would recommend them time and time again.
Lori T: The comfort and care shown by all staff was incredible. They made a difficult situation so much more bearable and pleasant.
