Gordon Food Service Store: what do users think?
David Russell: Never a line, store always looks good - produce is hit or miss. The clearance section has some amazing deals, but they do not stick around long!! Employees are nice - usually pretty quiet.
Ronnie Smith: Little mom and pop place...excellent food!! Decent prices and friendly staff...our new favorite breakfast place
Mark Crooks: Love shopping there, always helpful.
Karen Taylor: Really enjoy having this store nearby. Great friendly staff and helpful. Good meat products.
Dan Shoemaker: Who doesn't know about this place. You get all the cool stuff there - in BULK... if you're throwing a party it's the only place to shop.. snacks ... a prime rib ... fruit and decorations. Not your corner grocery store but very handy if you want to indulge yourself
Bill Niester: The food from GFS is routinely and pervasively excellent. Their prices might not be on the Costco scale, but I also don't have to buy a membership. I cook feasts for over 25 6 to 7 times a year and they always come in handy for quality bulk food. My only knock would be a small staff, but it's only been an issue maybe once or twice in all of my visits
MJ Maloney: Friendly people
Janis Burleson: Nice in store new setup took some getting used to but nice and clean with a greater selection all around.
Karen Barbu: Just went in for Drakes seasoning mix
Andrew Husted: Staff here are much less helpful and nice than other locations.
Doug H: Friendly staff
alexis smith: The only place I will buy my sauce for sweetish meatballs!
The Pazyamors: Clean store, well lit, wide aisles. Wonderful deals on spices. Some items are not less expensive than you would find in a more conventional store.
Scott Centofanti: I ordered a 5 lb bag of chicken pieces, it was $29.99, I thought that was a little steep. The store looks nice and all, but I won't go out of my way to go to GFS in the future, as the price savings isn't worth it anymore.
Dean Hellerud: Not one staff member asked to help even when I said excuse me and asked for assistance. The checkout was the fastest part of my whole experience and the best part at this location I could not wait to get out of the door.
Denise Jordan: Bigger selections after the expansion and update,
Milton Stephens: Clean store and everything I needed for a party
Leela Starr: The price is a gone up so high here it is not worth the trip anymore at all! I mean these prices are exorbitant even the fish is not worth buying here anymore, which I used to do regularly because at that time it made it about approximately $3 a pound but now no it is over $6 a pound because they more than doubled their prices on most items! They surely lost a customer here! I won't be going back anytime soon it's just not worth the trip anymore not for a darn thing there! If I could give them less than one, I would!
TeAnna Daniels: High prices but good customer service.
Tammy Parker: Love shopping here!
Michael: Can never find a staff member when you need them or want to cash out. Managers are completely useless and none helpful. Worst GFS I've been too :)

Kroger: what do users think?
Kelsey M: Not enough staff so everyone has to go through self-checkout with full carts of groceries which you can't fit in the bagging areas. Not a single cashier and the line for checkout is going down the aisle. One of the doors has been broken on and off for months and blocked off. So people who don't drive have to walk through the street because there's no sidewalk to get to the door that's actually open. Often out of hand baskets so you have to go find them at the self-checkout or go across the store to the closed entrance. The produce section is small for a grocery store. Poor selection in most departments. They'll have the exact same item in different 5 different brands but no variety in flavors or offerings. Price tags at times are missing or outdated.
Eileen Fields: Huge with everything you need to make dinner or for a midnight snack! 😁
Larry Berry: I love Kroger! ❤️
Lelee: Worst Kroger I have ever been to. Store manager Brian does not know what he is doing. He refuses to hire any help knowing the store is filthy and dirty. Please do not give this store your business. Go to Meijer!
Marie Barksdale: For a Kroger is, this one is on the small side, but the location can be handy. The staff are friendly, and the store is generally clean. It’s not the best Kroger’s for a large family. Tends bit more towards health food as opposed to bulk food. Very lovely garden and gift shop. This location is very good for smaller and older families/households.If you were looking for more cheap, bulk large, family shopping, the Carpenter location is a good option. (it’s also across from an Aldi’s. So that is even more options to stop and get some bulk stuff for cheap! TBH, I still tend to stick with Kroger’s because I know where everything is and it’s reliably there. But it’s cool to have two options in the same location.)I do want to add that Kroger’s in general are very good at marking gluten-free items which is awesome. They are also very WIC friendly. This location is better than some. FWIW the best location for using WIC is actually the one off Michigan Ave. But it is also a pretty rough area
Kayla: Great that everything was stocked
Dixie Stewart: They need to hire cashier's. The self scan is supposed to be for a few items not full carts 😏
Vanessa Prophete: Worst Krogers I’ve never been to, Staff is not helpful, the assistant manager Cheyenne is very rude. Will not return.
Pierrelynn Prophete: Cheyenne "assistant customer service manager" needs a customer service course right away. This so-called manager was extremely rude and unhelpful. The customer service desk was closed due to being short staffed and apparently I disturbed her on her break because she said without looking at me while walking away "it's closed now and I'm on my break" although Barb (a cashier) was kind and willing to assist me she was not able to assist with money services. As a new resident of Michigan who lives in the immediate area I will never step foot inside this location again as it was a horrible experience. This team member should be reprimanded and should receive a one on one course on customer service and kindness. Thank you for the warm Michigan welcome Kroger. A special thank you to Cheyenne, your days are numbered in that store with such a poor attitude and treatment towards customers. Never again!
William Adams: Returned bottles and only 2 of the 3 were available. All aisles seemed ridiculously small, crowded and compact. I did recieve excellent service and girl scout cookies upon exiting. Bathrooms were clean and parking was reasonable.
Debra Murdock: Let's go Kroger ING that's the motto and Kroger ING we went. Good ppl and helpful large selection of product. I would def go back
Dominique Sarabia: Tim in vegetables was amazing! We saw they had no more shallots and Tim overheard us. He told us to wait while he went into the back to get us fresh shallots. He also gave us more fresh garlic as well. Tim is amazing ❤️
Richard Adler: Many items are usually out of stock or they can't get any. This is true especially if Kroger brand products forcing us to buy the expensive brand of the product
にゃんこ先生: 少しではあるが日本食材が置いてあるお店。豆腐や、冷凍食品、カップ麺などはここで揃う。野菜などは現地の物。ビールなども高いが日本の物を置いてある。
Bruce C: I miss Hiller's!
BALAJI RAO D: Very Good.
Brook Miller: Love this grocery store. It is in a great location and has a good selection of products.
Pick a Username: Whyyyy are kroger bottle returns so garbage?? In general though, how tf is every one of your stores bottle returns dirty and broken?? Meijer doesn't have that issue!! Except i shouldn't have to go to one specific place just to take bottles back. Ridiculous.
Aaron “Magnificent” Mood: Digital cuponsystem is a complete bait and switch scam. It's impossible to use the system unless you follow each step in order, otherwise your order is rug up at full charge.
Mike M.: I love Kroger and miss not having one to shop in down south.
Stefani Kaye: Service Desk never open, they aren't even following their temporary covid hours, how are people supposed to pay their bills? My rent is now 3 days late, with a $30 fee and Kroger Management is to blame. Was told by the skeleton crew of two cashiers working (very hard and trying to cover for their manager) that their manager is on break. We waited to speak to management about why they're so understaffed they don't offer services they legally have to, this is the reason they have liquor licenses and lottery kickbacks from the govnt, TO OFFER THESE services! management never showed face. pathetic. i hope if those two VERY hard working cashiers want a better job, its 18$ an hour over at U of M, no experience needed.

Kroger: what do users think?
Jarod F: This kroger has literally the worst produce dept of ANY grovery store in the history of grocery stores. In a state with VAST farmlands. They also have general stocking issues as well. Its unfortunate i pass by here so its convenient to just "give it a shot"
Patrick Flaherty: Great selection limited checkout options
Jason Jason-Ghali: The deli here is never open anymore. The last three or four times I came during peak hours it was closed.
April: Really good prices for plants.
Kyle Ellsasser: Terrible Kroger location. Every time I order pickup they call me an hour beforehand and tell me they have to move it back 4-6 hours. What’s the point of scheduling it? Any time I go in to shop the lines are absurd with plenty of self checkouts closed for seemingly no reason.
Charles Curtis (DirkRainmaker): The management is lacking at this store. I'm not sure why this store seems unable to keep things stocked that other stores in the area keep in stock. The maple store often has 1 or none of the bottle return machines working. The customer service desk is never open. I have not had to check food for expiration dates, but this store has sold expired or stale food to me 5 times in last 2 months. They are unable to stock kroger brand food, snacks and soda (it has been 1 month since they have had a stocked soda isle. You will not find many items "on sale" in stock. There is nobody at customer service to even find out if you can get rain checks.Kroger prices are higher than competitors, and they used to have things stocked which was a convenience, but after having to return expired or stale items...long wait due to nobody at customer service, the convenience is gone.Obviously they are making money or they would close, but they are under staffed because they are to cheap to pay a good wage, I have seen mangers discipline workers in hhe open, but rarely seen managers helping at check out when lines are 10 deep and all they have open is the self checkout that has 1 or 2 stations not working.I think its time to stop shopping there since the lack of workers, lack of stock, claims of fresh that are not true, and management that clearly does not care.
Eddie Smith: This is a really well designed and smoothly operated Kroger store.
Craig Bradburn: My go to grocery shopping store. Fair prices and items are typically in stock
K K: this store is the worst. I'm done shopping at Kroger. Not 1 check out open, only self check out. Store is layed out badly, I can't find anything, no one around to ask where items are.
Dani Darling: I'm really surprised at how ghetto this Kroger is - this is Ann Arbor lol. There's never any carts...? The shelves are bare which, okay, post-pandemic - but it doesn't have to look THAT bad. The dairy area looks pretty gross. There are random baskets full of stuff idk why (in several aisles), it looks like someone started shelving, or shopping (not sure) and just walked away. I'm not even going to start on the pharmacy...
Kate Holness: Customer service had no one working and they stated no manager was working to do refunds
Yonikka Jackson: I really like this store and location. The employees are always friendly and always busy stocking the shelves. The guys that stock the freezer section are always helpful. The produce department employees always go to the back to check things that are out of stock on the floor, if you ask. Management also seems nice and are helpful when needed.
Musica Amor: I would give it more stars, due to the fact that it's close to my place. Which is why I always go to this Kroger's. But each time for years and years and years, I find some of the employees to once again be entitled. And you can forget about the some-of the customers, from hitting the back of your legs with shopping carts.Too actually just standing in front of you. They're so rude. From breathing on your back, when you're trying to do your own bagging. But there's nothing Krogers can do about the locals. But as far as some of the staff. They need sensitivity trainings. And to be aware that a lot of people come into the store. Some of them have backpacks, so stop stalking your customers, especially your regular customers that you've seen..
nannette lyster: Self checkout a nightmare. Have coupons plan on adding five minutes or more to you checkout time. Kroger really needs to update their software. Maybe worry alittle more about customer service and less about tracking every movement of their customers.
Joshua Howard: Horrible black lady at customer service desk with glasses stay away from her very rude and unprofessional. Should never have a job with customer service he'll dealing with people
Kevin Holt: There is a line halfway across the store, a grand total of 2 self checkouts are open, and I count another 16 self checkouts they didn't bother to turn on (not even counting the assisted checkout lines where of course zero are open). *Every* time I come here it's like this. Costs me ten minutes of waiting in line just to buy a single item, and the only reason I ever do it is because my only other option is to drive an extra ten minutes to go someplace with a sane checkout process. So it's a wash in the end. But it's infuriating because it's self checkout anyway! Just turn on more lanes, it costs you nothing! The rest of the store is fine. The checkout process is absolutely the worst.
Rachel Rose: Nicolette assisted me in self-check out today and had the warmest energy. She was so helpful, quick to help, and made what could have been a simple interaction the highlight of my day.
Brandon Carmack: Bad meat, short staffed, and dirty.
Angel Tan: Terrible management !Wasted my time going there for seafood, they close at 6 instead of 8 without any notice! Can't wait till they close this chain! Now they are closing at 5pm.The seafood manager Kathy needs to be fired instead of getting a retirement! The store manager Ron is no better, just let the store go to heLL. SHAME
Kyle: This is only for the star bucks, they did not acknowledge us being in line for over 5 mins and it looked like she was doing an order but did not acknowledge or receive us or assured us for waiting the whole time even though she clearly saw us. We walked off and not bothering with this star bucks again. 1/19 6:03pm
Vivien Li: Do not let the overall review score fool you! this store has been completely gone downhill/ given up in the last year or so. I have been going to this Kroger for over 15 years and I now avoid it at all cost. The only reason I step foot into the store is for the pharmacy because the staff is very professional and friendly. Other than that, lines are always crazy long even when they can open more self-checkout, they do not. Yesterday I went at 8 pm on a Wednesday (very few customers) and they had NO carts in the building ANYWHERE. I did my shopping with a basket and when I mentioned it to the checkout employee he just said "oh yeah you have to get them outside" so the staff was aware there was no carts and did nothing about it. The store is always in a state of disarray and no longer kept clean. :(

Busch's Fresh Food Market: what do users think?
Tom McKarns: Great to have a quality local owned grocery store chain here! Good produce and nice selections in a smaller store.
Angel Tan: Fish Fry is not good! I had heartburn afterwards, must reused old oil to save money. I eat fish fry regularly and never had heartburn.Terrible! Stay away!
Leann Kuebler: Great grocery store.
Venson Toreja: Get the 4 berry fruit pie. It's $17, but worth it. They caramelize the crust so it's not soggy.
Anthony Young: Michigan made products. Clean and friendly.
Tori Mazur: Got a free sample and great service
Howard Watts: My regular grocery store for many years - a great balance of good quality produce, value and service.
Matt Cantillon: This a higher end local grocery chain with an excellent selection and reasonable prices. Excellent performance during the pandemic.
Laura Wade: The store is clean and the staff I talked to were friendly over all I was happy with them
Alexis Reyes: Has lots of specialty items and great fresh food. Go to Meijer if you're looking for something too niche or specific
Tim Schutz: Too expensive.
Patricia Dowker: Great grocery store
Jim Zemina: Carrie and Castor are always friendly, and say "Hello". They also have a Super-duper Deli with the staff that give great recommendations.
Cynthia Woods (CeCee): Great price on meat at the counter . Knowledgeable butcher very friendly. Wish closer to my location. I left both my phones in bathroom 1/2 way home went back and the service desk had them. Plan on going back today 😃
Todays Present: This location is very clean and there are several employees within arms reach that are happy to help. I love their fresh produce selection.
Elsie Casiano: Excellent.
Jodie Antieau: Lots of different items
Jacob Buckland: A nice grocery store.
Becky Gilbert: The bottle return machines work here!
Phyllis Lamirand: Would like to shop there more often. It is very expensive but a very nice grocery store.

Kroger: what do users think?
Jeremy Crosmer: This Kroger recently began posting misleading signs which hide the retail price of their items. The "Price with Digital Coupon" is shown in big numbers, but the actual retail price is completely blocked by the black bar sleeve holding the sign. Because of this, I was charged $5 more on my grocery bill than I was expecting. Many customers will not notice and will end up paying much higher grocery bills. I have not seen this kind of misleading practice in other stores, so I felt it was important to share my experience with this store so customers can decide for themselves whether they want to risk being tricked by a sneaky marketing strategy. I will shop there less frequently than before, but if this signage is fixed to display the retail price very clearly, then I will take down this review and continue my normal shopping habits.
Upasana Thakuria: Good grocery store to get all basic essentials, not too fancy just simple
Dave Leland: Found exactly what I was looking for.
Qiling Zou: The produce shelf is always empty… and they seems short-staffed
Brian Kennedy: It's not their fault! The workers are doing their best. Inadequate staff. No checkout help. Kroger is an increasingly worsening experience for the customer and Kroger executives don't seem troubled by that. It's the closest grocery to my house and probably the cheapest but I am looking. The staff is friendly and as helpful as management let's them be.
Bruce Geffen: It's Kroger...corporate grocery through and through. Workers are awesome here!
Nicole Coleman: I was in Kroger last nite(4/1/2023) n there was a man jus in the parking lot walking up on cars wit women only, the man walked up on my car, I go in the store to let them know that there is a man in the parking lot harassing women, I was told that it wasn't their problem. Ladies please be careful when shopping at this location, if something was to happen to you in the parking lot, Kroger isn't gonna help u... I'm very disappointed in the management n employee at this store.....
Mario Sanchez Gumiel: Horrible place. I always struggle finding the groceries I need. The self-checkout is always overcrowded because they close other areas. Many times, the place is not very clean. The staff is most of the times checking their phones or talking. I assume they are not paid well. I could accept these points if prices were low, considering that they do not clean the place very often, they do not get enough groceries, and they do not pay well to the (small) staff. But not. Since the Covid lockdown, they have raised prices. I do think ALDI is much better.
Saurav T: Good place to shop for your daily needs although try to reach by afternoon otherwise a lot of fresh food items are out of stock.
Lea Charlton: Kroger the store is large and well-lit, staff are helpful, and prices tend to be really good.
Basic Joe: I dislike this Kroger so much. The staff is fine it’s the store itself - the store is not run well. Never enough staff, it’s dirty and expensive, they’re ALWAYS out of stuff and it’s check yourself out at all times. No help whatsoever. When I go to Meijer - my bill is half the price and I can find staff if I need assistance. The only reason this store exists is to prey on the North Campus students by overcharging for everything. If you can - go elsewhere, you’ll save more then you spend on transportation, you’ll actually have items on the shelf and staff is available.Kroger is a monopoly now and it’s glaring.
Jack Cawthon: What an absolute dismal excuse for a grocery store. This place seems to get worse every year, with now even longer waits due to only 2 lanes for self check out and perpetually shrinking aisles that you can’t even turn your cart around in. No blame to the workers who I know are trying their best, but the people at the corporate level should be ashamed at how awful this store is. You basically have to budget an hour plus on a weekend to get groceries of any kind.
C E: Doesn't have tap and pay or a way to manually input cards. Also really busy and service is variable. Finally the bathrooms are a complete state of mess not that that's huge but it is annoying.
Ирина Дыкуша: Nice
Michael Steelman: 9 Times out of 10 its worth it to go anywhere else. The selection and quality of produce is the worst in Ann Arbor. The online ordering experience at this specific location is a joke. The store is in total disarray
Brock Lahart: The people are friendly, but they often keep no lanes open other than self checkout. Busch's is very close by and almost always has full service checkout lanes open.
Kevin Osak: I just bought and ate the best apple turnover in my life. It was fresh and delicious. It was Kroger brand. I highly recommend them.
Christina V: The produce section is always completely empty lately and employees are just standing around talking or on their phones. I resent that I have to pay $7 for organic strawberries after sifting through the moldy ones because there’s no regular strawberries or anything. What little produce there might be is dead and sad looking
Bill Arnold: Only go if you have an hour to pick up 2 items. It is all self service, no cashiers. They argue with you about bottle returns, the lazy workers tell you there is no deposit or they dont sell the product without checking and then you have to go get the bottle to prove it, many times over. It is exhausting. I have lived in this neighborhood 25 years and the past 6 months I have watched this Krogers turn into dump. Empty shelves, dead produce, and the organic/health food (minimally processed) section has been eliminated and whats left dispersed through the store so the downgrade isn't so obvious. I shopped here for so long because it was closest and it used to be the best. Now, I guess it is mostly for students and those who are not so particular about the quality of food they eat. Hello Busch's.......
Paul F: Edit: increasing from 2 to 3 stars because they use awesome Cisco hold music. This location clearly struggles to find enough employees. On a Sunday evening, the produce was mostly empty. Typically the only checkout option is a bay of 6-8 self checkout stations with a decent line. On occasions when I need customer service, it is closed. "Closed" is a good way to describe this store's general approach to customer service. The store location is very convenient for many pedestrians, but I recommend going to one of the other grocery stores in the area for attention and selection.
