Dr. Andrew G. Urquhart, MD: what do users think?
Robert Schumacher: I had an excellant hip replacment expeience with Dr Urquhart and his team. He answered my initial inquiries by personal email and alerted team to my presence at the same time. He has surrounded himself with a great UM team. Everyone I came in contact with was friendly and respectful. Two stories:1. Four months before surgery I asked him if he played music in the OR (as I was having spinal anesthesia and could hear it.) He asked me sure what artisit what song? In the OR - 4 months later and w/o prompting that music was playing in the OR. (anesthesia said "good choice'")2. I had to spend 1 night in the brighton facility In talking to the RNS at night I learned that one had spent time as a service RN in Iraq and Afganistan. Another had voluteered for COVID ICU duty in NYC at the start of the pandemic. Who woul expect RNs in Brighton Mi ot have this experience? I would as they were MICHIGAN RnsSo I am six weeks out and doing grea, all concerns answered so far! Five stars
Laura: “I would most definitely give Dr. Urquhart a 5 out of 5 rating. This is the second time he has helped me. Eight years ago he did a total knee replacement and just recently replaced my hip joint. Both surgeries have totally improved the quality of my life. I am now able to walk, hike, do household and yard work, and exercise again without the crippling pain that had pretty much immobilized me. His name is a fixture in our neighborhood, and friends and neighbors alike have commented that “he is the best”. He and his PA/NP colleagues - Tam, Lindsay, Jean - have been instrumental in helping me through this, both before and after surgery. This includes the nurses I talked with over the phone but never had the pleasure of meeting. Anna, especially, was so there for me to answer all my questions. Their expertise, kindness, and attentiveness - for both surgeries - have meant so much and have helped me to regain the confidence to restart the activities of daily living and so much more.I would not (will not) hesitate to call on Dr. Urquhart again - and will continue to recommend him to others. Twice now, his expertise has made it possible for me to do the things I most enjoy - walking, hiking, working outside - without disabling pain. Both times, I healed quickly and without complications. Dr. Urquhart wants people to live their lives and he and his staff have certainly made it possible for me to do so.”
Melissa Wood: It took me a while to write this.  I should have done it earlier.  If you are considering Dr. Urquhart as your surgeon, you should read this.Dr. Urquhart replace both my hips in the past two years and the surgeries are very successful.  I am walking well, and more importantly, the Hip pain is gone.  He and his team were very accessible and responsive.  The pre-op patient training and prep really helped.  It is clear that Dr. Urquhart is not just a great surgeon but also a great educator, and he has great people around him.I will offer a little more information to give you some indication or my qualifications to give a review like this.  I was seen by two orthopedic surgeons in my area both recommended replacement hip surgery.  After going through most of the pre-surgery process I was ultimately unable to get hip replacement surgery in Three Rivers or Kalamazoo at any hospital because the anesthesiologists would not clear me.  They then recommended that I go to a level three trauma center for the surgery.  When I started the process, I only needed one replacement hip, but the stress on the other hip while waiting for surgery in Three Rivers and Kalamazoo soon eroded any of the “better hip’s” remaining tissue.I found Dr. Urquhart at the University of Michigan Hospital when I was in great pain and now needing two hips. After the 1st exam, they scheduled the 1st hip as soon as they could.  It was a very smooth process.  They scheduled my visits together as much as possible to reduce my travel.  He operates out of a few locations so I was able to choose one closer to me for the second surgery.I have had a few x-rays since the surgeries and every orthopedic surgeon that has look at me since says the hips look great and asks who did them.  When I tell them Dr. Urquhart, they either know him or know of him.  He is highly respected. Both surgeries went well.  The follow-up was great.  I recently visited Dr. Urquhart again to help with my knees.  He is the best.
Daniel Kowalczyk: So frustrated by the poorly run office that I cancelled my first appointment for hip replacement. Office staff insisted I either get a repeat ($) xray or get a copy on a CD (?) since they were unable to view it, even though I could see the results in my charts (UofM and St. Joe's). Too frustrating to continue. He also has earned a terrible reputation among nurses for poor bedside manner. I consider communication very important for a practitioner, so glad I cancelled.
Margaret Holmes: Excellent, compassionate care provided by the entire team lead by Dr. Urquhart. Special thanks to Tamara Bennett, PA!
Joshua Lisiecki: Dr. Urquhart refused to listen to anything my wife or I had to say,i deven give a patient plan, and ignored all of the u of m ER notes. My wife almost lost her foot listening to his "reccomendations". Gives surgeons a bad name.
Maria Campanale: Dr Urquhart is wonderful. He is very knowledgeable, honest, and if you "fat" absolutely, he's not going to perform hip surgery on you !I could not have been more satisfied with him.Maria Campanale
Help ForNPD: He is arrogant, rude and uncaring. I had a torn MCL and he didn't listen to me and kept interrupting. Finally pushing me aside and insisting if I lose weight I'll be cured. How can I lose weight when I have been unable to walk for fifteen months?! Went to another surgeon who fixed it a month later.
Barbara Coon: I would give ZERO if I could. His treatment and behavior were unacceptable, uncaring, cold, indifferent, even MEAN. My husband was there to witness this or I doubt people would believe me. I saw Dr Urquhart after having a knee replacement and then a revision, and I then began having multiple episodes of hemorrhaging in the knee capsule. I went to see him for a second opinion as my doctors could not explain nor stop the very painful internal bleeding episodes. He spent 5 minutes with me, told me I should should get on an exercise bike because I am overweight (I could not walk without a walker nor ride an exercise bike). He then said I should have never had the surgeries as I was too young and that now I should just accept what I have. My husband and I sat there with our mouths dropped open in disbelief as he left the room, then I burst into tears. His assistant seemed embarrassed by his behavior but admitted he "can be like that". I have been to multiple specialist doctors since, and my situation IS very complex and unusual-- but at Cleveland Clinic I was treated with respect and care, and I DID get a great deal of help for my condition. I do not rate U of M medical as I know so many who have received great care there, but NOT this doctor.
S Kirkland: Dr Urquhart and team recently replaced both hip joints. In 1976 as a teenager I had major hip surgery after a tragic event. In September 2018 Dr Urquhart did a total right hip reconstruction (really great work) and in March 2019 Dr. Urquhart and team replaced the left hip. I cant express in words how much better I feel and move. I have range of motion I have not possessed since the 70's. Dr Urquhart's skills and dedication to his craft is unparalleled and non-compromising. Immediately prior my "Big Surgery" on the right hip the Doc comes up and ask, what leg are we operating on today Mr. Kirkland? With my nerves shot accompanied by my best comedic voice , "my left one" I replied with a smirk. The Doc looked at me sternly square in the eye and replied " that's not funny" .I want to thank Dr Urquhart for his expertise and knowledge. His work changed my life for the better. While Dr Urquhart may not have Mary Poppins's bedside manner , his operating and joint replacement work is remarkable. Thanks Doc, I really appreciate you .
Keith Osborne: Excellent care by him and his team! Hip replaced in early December and now 6 weeks later feel great with no pain! Thanks again!!
Mary Desmond: This surgeon didn’t listen to his colleagues or myself when we told him something was very wrong with my knee post-op. He chose to ignore the obvious signs of infection until it was beyond his expertise then recommended amputation. Fortunately I’m a nurse and found a surgeon who could repair the massive damage to my leg. I would tell anyone considering surgery with him to not do it. I write frequent reviews to hopefully prevent the unbelievable suffering I’ve been through. Ask his peers for a review and I’ll bet they’ll send you to someone else. Better yet ask the nurses he works with @ the hospital for another surgeon with a better reputation.
Jeffrey Sr Yanssens: Dr Urquhart was recommended to me by two other orthopedic Dr one at Beaumont and another at the DMC. I was suffering from a previous knee replacement that no one wanted to correct, he said he could help and boy did he! I’m am free from almost 10 years of chronic pain, I have my life back! No pain all because one man said he would “try” and he did just that and more. He was honest up front and didn’t over commit, he was willing to help me and I am forever grateful.
Barbara Wagner: I highly recommend Dr. Urquhart and the excellent surgical team at the University of Michigan hospital. From clinical visits and initial education session through surgery, post-operative care, and recovery, the team was fantastic. My questions and concerns were always thoroughly addressed. Dr. Urquhart responded quickly to my emails, which was very reassuring. The outcome of both total knee replacement surgeries has been wonderful. My thanks go to Dr. Urquhart and the entire patient-centered team at U-M.
Adela Pezolt: Great doctor!
Linda Calder: I came to this doctor because I had a faulty hip replacement from a different doctor two years ago and I still can’t walk. I was in a wheelchair when I came in and he had an irritable attitude the moment he started to talk to me.He looked briefly at my x-ray and I showed him how I could only walk with my knees locked together and he said “I don’t know what to tell you” and then he sat up on the exam table, looked at me sitting in the chair and said “what do you expect me to do for you?”I said “well you’re the doctor; what can you do to help me?” I said nothing more and he walked out of the room! I was so stunned that I just ended up waiting for my transport and left. This doctor’s behavior was absolutely unacceptable.
Andrew Dumont: Dr Andy Urquhart is nothing short of a rock star in both his technical abilities and his dedication to caring for his patients. The man always answers emails (he gives his direct email to patients, but I’ve found this to be true of most docs at UMH) and answers questions promptly.
Ronald Feick: I am providing this review of Dr. Urquhart right on the heels of receiving a total hip replacement from him and his team. While I am still in the recovery phase, I am home and in great shape less than 24 hours after my surgery. The protocal UM employs for these procedures really hits the sweet spot between keeping one too long in the hospital and discharging one too early. And it also calls for a couple of in home visits to see if the recovery is going well in the patient's home.I can honestly say that while I had high expectations for my surgery, Dr. Urquhart and his team exceeded my expectations. Just a few hours after the surgery I was standing firmly on both feet unaided by cane or walker - something I had not been able to do for weeks prior. I will not attempt to name all those who took part in my care as I would certainly accidently omit a few. But all the medical care professionals involved were nothing short of amazing. And while I trust that this is the last "suspension part" that I need to replace, I will not hesitate to call on Dr. Urquhart in the future in case more parts of me do in fact wear out.
Elaine G. Wilson: Great Doctor! Pleasant bed side manner and a good listener.

Ann Arbor Orthopaedic Surgery: what do users think?
Maryrose Angelo: Once again I leave a IHA facility completely unsatisfied and still in pain and discomfort. I had an appointment this morning with an orthopedic in these offices . I don’t have insurance so I was prepared to pay the $300 out of pocket plus whatever it cost for X-rays and an injection. I went to this appointment with $1300 on me.... they wouldn’t give me an injection because I don’t have insurance... this is exactly what the girl at the front desk told me as I was in tears on my way out. I had three “doctors” come in and check my arm and see the discomfort and still did nothing but give me ipbrophin and a physical therapy script that I can’t afford .... terrible experience with IHA again ....
lianna iacob: They keep it so cold in the waiting room! I heard three people besides me complain. No wonder we have heat waves! People lime you are cranking up the a.c. to an uncomfortable level
George Cameron: Professional and friendly. Glad we put our recovery in their hands.

Dr. Aaron M. Perdue: what do users think?
Rebecca Wiklendt: Dr. Purdue is a very down to earth physician and took the time on multiple occasions to answer all of our questions and explain what was done for the procedure performed. I highly recommend Dr. Purdue and all of his staff, as well.
Anthony baran: Had a severe leg injury that Dr. Perdue and his team performed multiple extensive surgeries on and could not be happier with my experience or the outcome. Purdue was pleasant and great with any questions I had. I’m very thankful for Purdue and his team And I would highly recommend him to anyone.
jowella messing: My experience with this medical "professional." was terrible. Would not recommend to anyone. Seek care anywhere else. Arrogant, and rude.
Karen Underhill: The wait time was worth seeing this Ortho doctor.

Orthopaedic Surgery at Taubman Center: what do users think?
Taylor Cupp: The worst experience I have ever had with an orthopedic surgery. All around catastrophe. Terrible bedside manner from the doctors, horrible communication throughout the staff. I swear not one person there could give me the same response with my questions. Oh, and they are terribly money hungry. Any way, shape, or form they can, they will charge you and then deny what they told you. I would not recommend ANYONE to this department. Great physical therapist. Only good thing about my entire six month experience.
