Sara Walker: We bought a house with a pool that had been maintained by Clearwater Pools for 10+ years. Called in February to schedule the pool opening for end of May. When they hadn't shown up by late afternoon the day we were scheduled for, I called and the woman answering the phone said they were behind schedule so wouldn't be out until the next day, and she acted annoyed that I had called. Meanwhile, I had taken the day off of work so that I could be there on the scheduled day.Called back a few weeks later to ask for estimates on a few maintenance projects that were recommended from our initial pool inspection when we bought the house, and the same woman very curtly said that because we were new home owners, they wouldn't be keeping us as clients even though we had just paid nearly $600 a few weeks prior just to have them open the pool. Good riddance!

They came out to perform a service call, they said they diagnosed the problem and were ordering parts. 3 weeks later I heard nothing back. When I emailed them for status they told me i needed to replace the heater due to the size (which was sufficient and installed by my contractor). they said would cost 4000-5000 $$ which is outrageous. they failed to provide any evidence the heater was undersized so I shopped around. Kathy Saucier: I hired this company to Install a pool liner in an In ground pool 17x35 and to repair or replace the coping. I took a leap of faith and put my trust in them in regards to them being professionals. The owners son and another young guy did my job which I thought the owner himself was going to be doing it. It seemed to be going well until he took the vacuum out that adheres the liner to the walls. Once the pool was filled up there was wrinkles and folds in several different places. They were supposed to come back and take care of it and also finish an electric safety switch, so no one will be shocked turning the pump on in the elements. Needless to say, I tried several times to contact the owner to try and rectify the problems. No response...I also ran into Payton the son and told him I wasn’t happy about the job being unfinished and the wrinkles all over my pool. He mentioned something about flood zones...what? Huh? I don’t live in a flood zone...totally Irrelevant. He told me he was going to let Mark know. I never heard anything once again. I was told they should have had 2 vacuums going...to adhere that big of a liner to the wall and it being 8 ft deep. I was also Informed that the liner wasn’t measured correctly and that there was to much extra material. Not happy a year later now and almost $7, 000.00. My advice to New potential customers....DO NOT PAY IN FULL UNTIL THE ENTIRE JOB IS FINISHED TO YOUR SATISFACTION or your on your own. If you're looking for honest, kind, professional and local give them a call. That was 3 months ago! Summer is almost over and we have not been able to use our pool as we normally do because of his mistake. He was paid up front for his work also. Would never recommend this person to do anything with pools.

rich kummert: After being referred by someone I contacted 3R to get a quote and time line for a pool. That was all fine and dandy until they got my $5000 deposit. Then it was the silent treatment. No communication. And when I asked for an update on how things were going I was treated as though I was an inconvenience. George was hostile and made me feel like I shouldn't be questioning things. They can't seem to give you a straight answer. I was outright lied to. This started during the winter and I was simply trying to get an answer on if we would get done this year. No call. The only time they responded quickly was when we asked for our deposit back. There's nothing worse then bad communication except NO communication. I could go and on but it's not worth my time. Beware of false promises from this company. They returned our money today and couldn't care less.

When I got to my home I found out they sent over adolecent's to my home that knows less about pools then I do. This company is very poorly runned and the owner is just as bad as the staff he has running is place!

Darryl Prudich: We had an atrocious experience with this company redoing an existing deck. The job was simple--take our existing deck that was falling apart, and rebuild it back the exact same from scratch with composite. The job started a month after we were told it would be completed (with almost no communication as to what was going on). It turns out they fired the saleperson who took measurements (which were incorrect), then had someone else draw up the plans. That second person had never even seen our deck in person, so drew up the plans incorrectly. The company didn't provide plans onsite at first, so we didn't know anything was wrong with the plan until the job was halfway done. A total tear-up and redo was required due to their mistakes, during which the company delayed the entire process repeatedly. All in all there was terrible communication, multiple firings at the company during our project, poor planning, massive delays, and in the end we're not happy with the quality but anxious to sever ties with these guys. Matt Nickell: We hired Clear Choice Contractors to replace a deck and patio. They were one of the few companies that had any availability. If you are looking for a company that can communicate well and operate with a high degree of professionalism, look somewhere else.It was next to impossible to find out when they would be coming out to work on our projects because you are always being referred to someone else. Getting them to come back and fix things after a failed final inspection was quite a hassle. Unless you are talking about when they can pick up a check, they don't treat communication as a priority.There are a lot of cosmetic issues with the deck that they refused to fix. Nobody even bothered to come out and check that the subcontractors who poured the patio did things correctly.We found that they would use our tools and materials without permission. Brian Simpson: Jamaican Pools installed our liner pool last spring. This is our first pool and Rick was very helpful in the planning process. He only recommends equipment that he knows will work well. Timing was very important to us so we got on his schedule early (February) and we were swimming by Memorial Day. Rick has a very experienced crew that was always willing to stop by at the end of the day if we had any questions or needed help with something throughout the summer. Overall, we had a great experience with Jamaican Pools and I would recommend them.

Michael Warmbier: I typically don't post reviews, but while searching a few things, I came upon a post/review that I felt deserved a different perspective.We were all set to have a pool installed by a known company in the area that we met at the Pool show in Novi back in 2015. Prior to signing their agreement, I asked a reputable supply store who they would consider if they were to build their own inground marcite/gunite pool and they suggested I consider Jamaican.I called Jamaican. It was prime installation season and they were busy, but Rick (Owner) was able to get to my home within a week, and spent a good portion of the evening talking about our needs, desires and what we really expected in a backyard pool, and also took the time to learn about how each of us planned to use the pool (sunning, swimming, gatherings, sports, etc). We also talked about what is typical, and what we could do to make it fit our family better - such as benches in both the deep and shallow ends (which has become the most popular place to "hang out" while in the pool!). We also added sprayers and a separate pump for the pool cleaner/vacuum. Overall, a great experience, a great investment and a lot of fun for our family from early May through October!We had already done our homework with respect to pricing. Jamaican was not the cheapest, nor were they the highest price. We felt Jamaican knew what they were doing. We were impressed with the number of local references with positive experiences. We were also impressed with the number of employees and contractors that Jamaican uses that have been working with him for decades - we felt that was significant.In the end, we chose Jamaican Pools and we could not be happier with the process, the contractors and the results. We were completely in the loop throughout the entire process and we always knew what to expect. We were part of the layout, we were notified of tasks/steps regularly. I sent a text message hoping I would get a response on Monday as they began their week. about 7:30p on Easter Sunday, I get a text saying "Call Me" from Rick. I called and he stepped me through the process.
