University Hospital: what do users think?
Pattie Russell: Very friendly staff service was fast good
Donna Jones: Have been dealing with u of m Rogel Cancer Center for over 2 years for my partner and have had a great experience with them ALL. I ask many many questions after losing my father to another hospital's neglect. All my questions are answered with utmost respect and explanation is understandable. I drive over an hour for 15 minutes of radiation and can't say I would go anywhere else the trip is more than worth it to have him here with us after 2 very aggressive cancers in 3 years. Way to go U of M I appreciate all you do.
Kames Keedmen: 4 to 5 hour minimum wait time, still sitting hallway cold with no pain shot or pillows after bumpy ambulance ride here, limited options, stated haven't ate for days but still try to give dry motrin with no water for spinal injury, nurse says if I can't breath it's ok to pass out here. Less fraternizing more work = less wait time, this place has definitely went downhill considering it's not even full pandemic. No urgency. Not worth the long ride here. No admitting rooms for other emergency patients they full with covid patients who need to be home quarantining in the first place def not fair to other patients
Karen Hengesbach: Love U of M . Here for help. Feeling blessed
Richard Gerringer: Came in for a very painful boil that dr Rachel was so helpful and carful with, took her time and listened when I asked for a break, could not recommend this ER enough after so many bad experiences at others. Also my ultrasound tech was so sweet and explained everything I loved her!
Chris H: Absolutely atrocious hospital. At first it seemed like a good hospital but after 6 years I've discovered it most definitely is not. In addition to many wasted trips when our local hospitals were deemed incapable of doing even simple tests by the doctors at UofM they have caused significant issues to my wife's health and this week we even had a Dr provide completely inaccurate and dangerous information which was refuted an hour later by another member of the same team. The best part was when the Dr then lied about it and said we just didn't understand what he meant. All in all this is a hospital to avoid at all costs unless you feel like gambling with your health because you see fake rave reviews for it.
Jelly Being: I stupidly gave this hospital a FOURTH chance because of how they used to be years ago. First filthy room and left post in w/no IV bag despite vomiting. . They dismissed my blood work saying everything was fine. I could barely breathe and begged for chest X-ray, along with thyroid panels. They again said I was fine. My Dr called, she couldn’t believe they didn’t admit me. My thyroid panels showed being in middle of a thyroid storm, so sick I can’t take it anymore. They also said my X-rays were fine which right afterwards another Dr said X-rays showed my body rejecting titanium which had to be removed immediately. They are the worst hospital in this country, which is sad since they used to be the best.
Page Salyers: Saved my life.
Laura Miller: Got in an out pretty quickly
Kristin Walker: This was my grandmothers 2nd admission to the hospital in the last 6 months. Her first visit wasn't too bad, I was kept informed throughout her stay and was contacted for any tests or procedures that needed approval (she has severe memory loss and I am her DPOA). This second visit the only calls I received were regarding discharging her. I was not told of anything that was wrong or being done, I didn't find anything out until her discharge paperwork was done. She also had a heart monitor when she went into the hospital, which was missing when she was sent to the rehab. No one can tell me what happened to it. They said they didn't even know she had one on, yet they were doing scans that would have needed it removed for. She still had the sticker for her sensor which left a big rash on her chest because it was supposed to be removed after 5 days. Now she will have to pay for the cost of the sensor.I'm just overall disappointed in the communication and disorganization this time around.
U Coward: Best views
Kyle Freeman: Valet parking at the er today is horrible! They got one new guy and he can't contact his supervisor! They are parking cars in the ambulance bays! Horrendous!
Jennifer Beitzel: My review is for dealing with staff and their backward policies, beware if you are trying to deliver something to a patient! I had a cookie delivery meant for a friend that was bedridden. The delivery person was not allowed to the room to deliver it (which I understand for COVID), but the staff then made them place the delivery on the window sill at reception and wouldn’t touch it. I called to ask about this and the staff said the patient (who, again, cannot get out of bed) has to come down and get it as she did not have a visitor that day to help. So… you allow a visitor to come in and out to see the patient, but you can’t just put on a pair of gloves and deliver a gift? Just shows me the kind of attitude the staff has for sick patients.
rodriguezmisc: Great location with an extensive services from general medical practitioners, lab work, testing..you name it they have it. Dr. Cooke and his staff are always amazing and efficient. His patient and caring demeanor, always makes me feel at home.
Jacob Kowski: 25 minute waiting at pharmacy. This is unacceptable. This is a basic service
Ralph C: Very helpful
Marsha Numerich: A great big huge thank you to the surgical and urological teams who went to bat for me today, January 26.
Rebecca Roughton: I really respect my PCP, I had a very respectful time getting a breast examination, and the scheduling was a breeze. The wait for an appointment might be a few weeks out, but the quality is unmatched.
william bland: Best childs hospital around very great and caring staff
KeriAnn76: No snacks not even Popsicles! Makes it hard to get through the night when you are use to eating small every 3-4hrs
Getting It In: Came to visit my elderly relative and his roommate yelled at me and my child basically cause he wanted his own room. So they lied and said I didn't follow the visiting rules because they were full and couldn't move him. Beware that name doesn't mean what it used to and the staff are out of control and will lie to serve them. All the 4 stars are employees or friends of employees.

University of Michigan Hospital: what do users think?
Jordyn Banks: I'm pregnant and I sat in the emergency room from 7:30pm-12am without being seen but everyone that came in after me got taken back and I was sitting there crying from being in pain and the nurses have the nerve to sit there and talk about me like I wasn't there
Mahfuja Uddin: I have been going to UOFM for many years. Since the last year to current I have been getting horrible experience in different departments of the hospital. They are starting to become money hungry and charging for things that are not disclosed to patients. I recently received a bill for my son’s Dentist visit from 2021 and we are in 2023. They couldn’t reach out all these years to me or the insurance rather decided to bill me 2 years later. My daughter and I visited ENT both the kids and adult ENT charged the visit as a surgery related which was just a regular check up and I had to pay a large fee for the bill. I could’ve had a surgery and paid the same amount compared to a regular visit and had to pay the surgery fee. Finally my daughter had a post op visit which they didn’t t code it correctly and I had to get it fixed so I don’t get charged as insurance covers post op visit. Yet I got a large bill and have to deal with this. All departments make you run around to where it’s frustrating that you end up paying the bill. Their billing team states the doctors don’t know much about the insurance part and they don’t disclose to patients about the charges that will happen when they do certain check ups. These things never happened until last year for me.
Nicholas Ingram: Best hospital in the country.
Dormarvelyn Henderson: If I could leave a negative zero I would. I went to this particular ER because U of M is supposed to be the best. WRONG. When I got to the back I explained to the nurse and the doctor that what was going on with me was not an allergic reaction and this doctor is gonna tell me that I my face was not swollen an to take Zyrtec and I would be fine. He dismissed me because I was a black woman looking for help. He Would not listen to me for anything and over talked me and my husband. I will never in my life go back to this place ever again!!!!
Adam Gardner: YET AGAIN they are rescheduling an appointment because it doesnt fit their needs putting me at over a year waiting for this stupid dr that probably is going to be as bad as the rest of them. I wouldnt send ANY of my family to this hospital. They are a joke. They dont listen to you and it takes years for them to do anything. They are probably now one of the worst hospitals in the state of michigan. Their surgeons are leaving in droves because they are forcing them to work weekends to do surgery. I have an inside friend that has told me as much. Unless you want to die DONT GO HERE! I will stop going here just as soon as I possibly can!
Kris Perez: My son was transferred from mid Michigan this am due to having a brainbleed from a fall out of tree plus other injury's was put in the burn/trama unit and everyone was super helpful and caring and went out of there way no matter what it was and even when I called they answered all my questions the trama unit is the best and so is the nurses and the Dr would recommend this hospital no matter what thank you to everyone of you
Marilyn Cooley: I have been trying to get into the portal that I was locked out of and have spent 10 15 hours on it many many phone calls to help take care of my brother which I have been taken care of since December 8th I have is medical Advocate and his dpoa and you have that paperwork and I have done everything the portal has asked at every time they ask for more more and more and more. I will knock it out on your portal again. If this matters to you my brother is Neil Cooley and he has a patient has been a patient there had his total tongue removed and I have been the only one that the portal has gone to and that locked out now they will not let me back in. I cannot tell you you're punishing 99% of innocent people when I am still the caregiver I do not have time for this stuff. I am totally disappointed in that department
M: What has happened to the U of M hospital system?! I was urged to go to the ER by my PCP due to concerning MRI and CT scan results. I reported that I fell in March, experienced sudden excruciating pain, progressive leg weakness, numbness in my feet and significant difficulty walking. The ER staff and doctor were excellent. I was admitted as a general patient While I had a full body MRI while in the ER and briefly saw a neurosurgeon, my neurologist would not allow me to consult with a neurologist after my MRU. . I had a full spinal MRI which clearly showed the damage in my spine. He refused to consult with my other U of M specialists. I was discharged without ever seeing a neurosurgeon. After discharge, my legs became progressively weaker, I couldn’t feel my feet & I became incontinent. I went to my local ER and was transferred by ambulance to another hospital where I had emergency spinal surgery. The neurosurgeon was shocked that U of M did nothing. We’re hoping that my nerve damage isn’t permanent, Something is really wrong with this system. There are some excellent providers and exceptional nurses but the system is broken. The nurses on my floor even encouraged me to file a licensing complaint . I am going to when I feel better. Edit: A few days after discharge I went to my local hospital and they did a CT scan. They sent me by ambulance to Beaumont Hospital where I had emergency surgery. The neurologist (Dr. Popli) at U of M had the same information. I’m so grateful for Beaumont and the neurosurgeon there. To say that my experience at U if M hospital was traumatizing is an understatement.
Dennis Curtis: First of all my 6th floor Nurses are to be Commended for being some of the Best Nurses in their field! Thanks Bill, Emily, and Cayla for your Unmatched Care and Bedside manner!! The only reason I deducted a star is because th ER experience was pretty horrific.. I was turned off with Eight, count that Eight Nurses and staff standing around Lollygagging for at least an hour at a time with a room packed full of sick patients. No where near having enough Doctors to handle the ER!!! I laid on a gerny in the hallway for countless hours suffering while waiting to see a doctor. So Sad for such a good hospital !!
Bryn Prough: Just had a seven day inpatient stay and I have to tell you from day one my care was coordinated so very well and resources for going home organized way better than I’ve ever had before. All of the CNAs and nurses deserve raises. I had such great care. A special shout out to Mavis and Ube for their amazing help with such great smiles and attitudes and wound care for their help. Also to inpatient rehab for the laundry availability too. The only change I would recommend is incorporating more non-dairy & plant-based alternatives for inpatient room service. Thank you to everyone there!
Lisa Thomas: I was admitted in 1968. Drs were great. Nurses were nasty to me. I was 8. Mean women. Many tested and biopsy's were preformed. Disease was discovered. Back in 1974, new condition. Tried to get medical records. Papers Came back that they have no record of my ever being there. I need to go back again. It would be helpful if they had my past medical history available to look back on.
Danny Harlem: Worst experiences with this place the emergency room everytime I come in they say there’s no beds and they make you wait for 12 hours + in the lobby no matter what even if your dying…
James Cetlinski: Customer service was horrible
Morgan Malinski: Just don't go here.
r7d sidi: Treatment is slow. You subject yourself to a teaching environment where you lay there and they teach. If you want a dr to diagnose you and fix. Go somewhere else! If you don’t mind being a school project, this is for you. While your there you will be constantly interrupted by sidewalk sales people who want you to take part in their surveys and experiment. Kind like pop up adds on the internet
Shay M: Communication is very poor. I understand working in a field and having to turn that sympathetic switch off to do your job, but the way some info is handled is completely unnecessary. Don’t call somebody and say serious test results if you can’t follow up with some info. At least you could’ve waited till Monday to relay that. Just left hanging and had to spend Easter in a cluster of the unknown. Just for a “yeah call Monday” which then follows to calling Monday, for nobody to still yet have any details to give.
Desiree Wright: My wife had major surgery last week. Everyone in the hospital was so friendly. Dr. Kuzon did an amazing job! Two nurses on the 4th floor deserve recognition. Frank and Morgan, they were gentle, warm, and kind. Answered all of my wife's questions and had the best chairside manner I have ever seen. We will never go to any other hospital again. U of M is our go to hospital!
Rickie Moser: Excellent Care. My husband had back surgery recently and the care he received at UMich Hospital was outstanding. The doctors and nurses were impressive not only in their knowledge and skill but also in the care and patience they showed us.
Amara Afzal: Excellent patient care and medical services , procedures and friendly medical staff as well as caring. Thanks to Dr. Nathan Lousman and all nurses for taking caring of me.
Ryan Thompson: Had a heart attack on the 4th of March. The doctors and the staff in the emergency room and ICU were fantastic. That being said I have had some serious questions that I have been trying to get some answers to since the 10th and I am still waiting for the staff to answer these questions on the 21st and have called several times and sent several messages through the portal.
Ranger Dan: My urologist fixed all of my urology problems in a matter of three weeks. I was amazed. The pediatric urologist my daughter used for my granddaughter did the same thing. All problems fixed in one visit. Wound care helped me resolve an issue that had caused infection after infection. These issues here were all moved to UofM after years of frustration at other medical facilities. I am thrilled that I made the move.
