Detroit Edison Public School Academy: what do users think?
Tennille Allen
Tennille Allen: Love this School
Kyesha Ford
Kyesha Ford: Just pulled my daughter out. She will not be returning to this school. My daughter came home multiple times crying because she wasn’t allowed at some party. She told me that her teacher said she wasn’t good enough to go and I know my child has perfect behavior and does her very best in school. She struggles in one subject but was top tier in all the other ones. At parent teacher conference her teacher said she was a model student and she doesn’t have any problems out of my baby. This school is literally stressing my 1st grader out and crushing her self esteem. She’s getting to the point where she hates going to school and my baby use to love school and learning. This school puts too much pressure on their 1st graders. So yeah it’s a no for me. Not to mention the lack of communication and how they’re always throwing stuff at us with barely no notice. And I also don’t like the fact that anyone can pick up my child during dismissal. It’s definitely a safety concern that I’ve had since last year. I gave this school two stars because they do care about learning and I appreciate it. I just don’t like how they are crushing my six year old self esteem and making her hate school. No child should be coming home crying their eyes out when they’re doing their best in school. She shouldn’t be stressed in the 1st grade.
Marchelle Brooks
Marchelle Brooks: Edison has changed drastically.
Andrea Stegall
Andrea Stegall: Great school
Melody House
Melody House: This school will let your child down the teachers quit in the middle of the school, and your child will be left being taught by the lunch lady. This has happened two years in a row. Ms Highbaugh at the front desk is very rude, Aundrea Johnson the elementary principal she is rude and unprofessional as well. I feel sorry for the students here at this school they are not getting the education they deserve. I’m so glad my daughter will not be returning. Please don’t fail your kids by letting them attend this school.
Karmaz Kitten
Karmaz Kitten: I am an alumni of this school and had a positive experience during my educational journey as a child. As a parent, I thought my children would benefit from attending this school as well. I was mistaken. This school and its staff are unprofessional, unorganized, lack the ability to properly interact with children, unsafe environment and have fumbled the educational standards. I currently have 5 children enrolled in this facility and none of them will be returning next school year.Bullying is a major issue in this school in every grade level. The situations my children have encountered go unacknowledged when brought to the teacher and principals attention. The children feel hopeless in response to being protected from physical and verbal abuse from their peers. I have spoken directly to staff about situations that have been brought to my attention. Nothing was done to ensure that the bullying had stopped. Next day my child was suspended for protecting himself against the same bully I had addressed with the staff. There is little to no communication with staff. The school year is almost over and I have yet to meet all of my children's teachers. A few months into the school year, they stopped printing out homework and made it available through Google classroom. Laptops were issued and then confiscated; however the children were still held accountable for turning in their homework and learning spelling words/ test content they did not have access to. I requested an IEP for one of my children at the beginning of the school year and it has yet to be put in place. I've been told by the teacher that the paperwork was submitted. I spoke to the principal and she denied knowing anything about the request and stated she would get my son the resources he needed. With less than 30 days of school left nothing has yet to be done. When I addressed the principal again about an IEP, she first proclaimed not to be aware of him needing one (after my conversation with her about it) then she stated "You said he wasn't returning here." To her my child's educational needs were mute due to the fact he is not being re-enrolled. This particular principal did however ask for me to sign a behavioral plan for my child to incorporate the remaining 30 days of school. A behavioral plan that addresses, his inability to focus in class because he struggles to do the work. The occasions I have been able to interact with staff, I have encountered rude, demeaning and dismissive attitudes. I have witnessed (during virtual class days (parents are not allowed in the school outside of the main office), teachers who have no control of their students, lack of interest in teaching and full blown tantrums refusing to teach for the smallest isolated infraction. I am highly disturbed at the unveiling of students performing oral sexual acts in the restrooms during after-school tutoring. My grievances go on and I do not recommend this establishment to anyone. I will give proper just applause to the Preschool sector and the mail office assistant they are phenomenal.
L Gibson
L Gibson: Awesome school
Sunset Pineapple
Sunset Pineapple: the best
dream walker
dream walker: great school
Mango
Mango: Horrible there were roaches in the classroom the teachers are rude and don't care. Absolutely horrible
iixlovlie myleexii
iixlovlie myleexii: This school isn’t the best , i feel that the staff are very lazy and are just there for the money , the only good staff that is there is mr.wiz , ms.b , and mr.wade , the student specialist acts like she has all the power and is very strict , im not saying it is a bad thing but she even assigned us seats at lunch!. She doesn’t want us having fun and literally suspends us for anything. If you have any other schools i DO NOT recommend this one .
32teasha
32teasha: This year the school has make virtual learning a difficult mission. The survey for virtual learning was sent out by email 24 of Aug and closed the same day at 5 pm. If you missed the Survey you can not participate. If you by chance did fill out the survey there will be no teacher. They're very sneaky. Forcing you to participate in in-class learning with this pandemic. I have a feeling its going to be problematic.
J Thomas
J Thomas: Ghetto school, incompetent staff, lacking in basic features of a normal HS
Ke'Adria Campbell
Ke'Adria Campbell: dont come to this school half of the staff only here to make money.
Darrell Ward
Darrell Ward: Horrible school
Him Him
Him Him: Great school and with things being put on the internet I'm able to keep up with my son each day. My older kids went there and there are a lot of teachers still there! Parent participation is the key to any school and they seem to have it here.
regina harris
regina harris: I feel that the school have no control over the 2nd grade. Now that's a same. Those children are so rude. The curriculum is not at the top of the class. If I had the power I will grade this school a C. This school did not talked about Martin Luther King, that's cold blooded.
S R
S R: Two words..."FIGHT CLUB"
Heze
Heze: It has an amazing band and the the staff are excellent they got me to HarvardThis is a excellent school
Mya Mya
Mya Mya: This school is honestly the worst school. You never know when things are because they do things at last minute. It never runs smoothly because they don't have time to prepare. The teachers are always leaving so it's hard to adjust to a new teacher. Since I am a senior I need recommendations and thats hard when all my teachers are gone. It's dirty, it has bugs everywhere. The classrooms are better than they were last couple years since we have new custodians. The food is somewhat decent. They always talk about getting you prepared for college but never talk about staying in college. They may have a high graduation rate but whats the rate for kids staying in college. Also they never can return calls at all, but can send out a phone blast everyday. The only good thing about the school is the few teachers that have been here for 3 years, and the Dean. Other than that it's not a good school overall.
Darnell Bonner
Darnell Bonner: Very unprofessional, doesn't care about the children especially black boys. Principal Mrs. Withers shows no empathy, very dry and uncaring. Horrible school Horrible

Dale O. Warren Jr.
Dale O. Warren Jr.: As a parent I Think Allen has went down. the school is not how it use to be and they dont care about the children anymore. If they did then why don't the principal know when kids are missing and your the school leader or how do you let a whole class jump on one student in end up in the hospital just last week a high school student did something to a younger student and the parent was very upset. These are things you need to pay attention to. My daughter was getting picked on and the school really was trying to help at all but my daughter said something to the principal and the principal kicked all my children out the school including the ones with special education needs with an IEP just because i said i was coming to pick my children up because i had a lot going on. So the principal said that i agreed to an oral withdraw and that my kids are took out system in there is nothing she can do and that she will go to board with it. Now my question is when my kids was missing where was you as the principal of the school? why didn't you know my children was missing.

London Brock
London Brock: This school was an *experience* for me. I’m happy that I attended here even if it was only for two years. I have so many funny stories I can tell from my years here but I won’t waste anyones time. But if there is one thing I will say it’s about a teacher. Ms.Lewis.. If anyone ever had a problem or needed help she would swoop in and help them ASAP. If I was ever struggling in class she would come over and assist me in any way she could. She always told the class funny stories to get us in the mood of learning and make us laugh, like her “nacho cheese” story. I can’t wait to go back up there and see her and the school again!
Nevaeha Jenkins
Nevaeha Jenkins: I went to this school for one year and it was the worst year of my life, they are unprofessional and unorganized. A boy came into my classroom to fight a girl, the principal don't solve no problems the staff is short handed, teachers pick on student while other get favoritism because of " anger problems " mothers come up there to fight kids and nothing gets done about it and no lunchroom. Overall this is school is terrible do not let your kids go here.
Diane Bee
Diane Bee: My daughter attended for 3 years. She's only leaving because we're moving. We love it here and we're going to miss everyone.
Alex Thomas

Tisha Nicole Williams
Tisha Nicole Williams: THis school needs work 1 teacher has to teach 3 different subjects you call the school theres no answer most times they lack proper communication skills...one thing is certain poor neighborhoods get poor teachers which equal a poor education our children deserve better ..
Nastassia Smith
Nastassia Smith: The staff don't know how to handle conflict they need training in this area
Jason Hollis
Jason Hollis: One of the worst schools I have been apart of! Kids run the school! Fights every day and then threats of gun fights afterwards. The pay is the lowest I have received And then they had the basketball team play and practice for a whole season, with one rim! They told me I would be interviewed for the jv and varsity job, cancelled my interviews, then went and hired a football coach to take my position, then told me, they weren't having season! Who treats people like that? I coached and developed talent on that team for 2 years I don't even get a interview? I hope they close down.
daqunda Gilliard
daqunda Gilliard: They are amazing they take the time to actually work with your child one on one they have a amazing team of leaders and teachers the bus schedule can be unorganized but thats there only issue they love the kids they have family services and resources they assist the community and so much more we a big family and if you dont like them just leave you part of the problem instead of being part of the solution
Heather Hetheru Miller
Heather Hetheru Miller: The school is a small intimate network of teachers, support team, parents, and most importantly students. Student get to achieve at their own level/pace while striving to meet/reach required academic standards. I love the character development and social skills expected from students. While the school can be more proactive in keeping parents informed on activities & events and leadership mainly principals change from year to year the structure seems to remain in tact.

Cass Technical High School: what do users think?
Gabrielle W
Gabrielle W: I just graduated this year. There are certain ups and downs to worry about like Senior-itis and the amount of work expected of you. There are plenty of clubs to go into, like Video Game Club, Japanese Club, Korean Culture Club, and other serious groups. And despite what everyone thinks JROTC is not very hard and isn't all about marches. Everything depends on your own attitude, time management, and of course the right teacher.

Rose Lidya Lynch
Rose Lidya Lynch: Yes people do argue if its a good school or not. What they don't understand is not just Cass Tech but it can be all schools. Cass Tech did have a few ups and downs along the way but they had handle it like a pro and now its advance, have more opportunities and education there is great. I'm in my sophomore year here and I'm really happy that I made it so far and cannot wait to graduate. In my opinion the people here are very sweet and the teachers want you to succeed no matter what. I'm very happy that I made the right decision to come here.
WolfGang Gold
WolfGang Gold: The school is great, the teachers are great and the staff is great. The clubs are great and they're a LOT of clubs to join. I am in 4 different clubs like, Japanese club, VGC, Anime club and graphic novel club. My favorite is VGC because it is a club ALL about gaming. You can bring your consoles and play them with others. Cass is also around many food and activity places also the Detroit Main Library which is a phenomenal place to visit. Overall Cass is a great school. Cass tech 2nd to none!

stephen leonhard
stephen leonhard: I graduated from Cass Tech after summer school in August 1943 and went directly to the Army. After basic training in northern Illinois. I was interviewed by a soon- to- be- Brigadier General who was setting up a Field Hospital. He knew of Cass Tech and said I would make a good x-ray tehcnician and sent me off to school in Springfield, Mo. There for six days a week eight hours a day we studied each bone in the human anatomy down to the smallest detail as well as the chemistry and physics of the x-ray process. Exams were a weekly affair and those who didn't pass were sent to a Replacement Depot in New Jersey for reassignment somewhere in Europe. What a great incentive to study hard! Class Tech had set the standard for hard study so this was not difficult
kahuna unno
kahuna unno: This school talks big but it is so annoying . What school gives incoming freshmen so much summer homework. Most teachers also don't give a thought about the students education or grade. It's just really annoying. Second to Access and Frontier!

I see a huge difference in my child for the better AND the only thing that i would change is the fighting. If you start the fight....you must leave the school. I wouldn't let the fighters return. Mrs. Stephanie Nicole Tyus
Mrs. Stephanie Nicole Tyus: SUCCESS BEGINS WITH AN HONEST DESIRE. KNOWLEDGE🌈☺💝💤
Taylorr
Taylorr: Ok so this is my first year and I’m really disappointed with the school, it’s really overrated. And the consequences for certain situations are unreasonable, the work isn’t even the problem it’s the teachers and students. It’s not what I expected and I am one of many Renaissance students planning to transfer. And if you don’t have a computer or WiFi at home it’s no point of even coming here.
Camille Hollenquest
Camille Hollenquest: Great place to send your child.
WolfGang Gold
WolfGang Gold: Cass tech is #1 and I heard they give their students TONS of work by the way im a cass technician
Dorian Jackson
Dorian Jackson: I give it a three because some of the new teachers they have dont know how to teach the expect you to get everything instantly even if the teacher isnt there to teach the material. One of the spanish teachers dont even teach any thing. He just sits there and gives the whole class C or D in his class. There are alot of flaws in the school. They overload all the student's with lots and loads of work, and if you dont have Wifi at home you might as well drop out the school. The teacher really dont care about your well being. Or if you get sleep at night. Sometimes i find my self staying up till 3 in the morning doing my homework. If you are comming from middle school and only getting 3 homework work assignments a week this school will be a HUGE struggle. Adat Quickly or you will get kick out. My advice to you.
Joseph Boyd
Joseph Boyd: Renaissance high school is a fantastic school with a lot of opportunities however this a not a school for students with excuses. Excuses are tools of the weak and incompetent used to build monuments of nothingness, those who excel at excuses seldom excel at anything except excuses. This is a marvelous school and some kids seem pressured, confident, prideful or overloaded, but as a Renaissance student I can say firsthand that renaissance doesn't just turn its back on us in our time of need. Their are a variety of student-run programs to help you cope with your problems also we have a great administration team and guidance counselors, and the fine arts department is booming our symphonic band has just returned from playing at the prestigious Carnegie Hall. All in all renaissance is a spectacular school.
Robert Martin
Robert Martin: Ok so I'm a renaissance student. And let me say I loved this school..... For the first week, then when I started to work, teachers are constantly putting you down, don't care about the students, don't teach well, overload us with work, etc. I like to work, but what they do is making the high school experience terrible. I swear if you have a daughter that goes to renaissance, 100% likely to threat to drop out and become a stripper. If you want your student to become depressed, skip classes, and break down every day, send them to renaissance because they're professionals at that. This school is very overrated.
Javanna Burrell
Javanna Burrell: well i honestly love the school when it comes to pep rally's and stuff but when it comes to school no not so much i really hate how some teachers grade things i'm struggling with trying to get an A in two classes I wish I could go back to my old school honestly

Alex Malohn
Alex Malohn: My Renaissance is better than yours.Boise for the win
Sandy Hollis
Sandy Hollis: . It's a good school the kids that have disabilities
Shou Simmons
Shou Simmons: renaissance is a great high schooli am currently going to the ninth grade and doing a summer packets right now which is extremely hard but thats good everyone needs a challengean renaissance is that challenge it get u ready for college at a young age so when you get older you wont have to take that extra step[ to get to the college of your chose so i recramend taking your child to renaissance its a great experience
Eric Minus
Eric Minus: My son will be a senior this coming school year. I have no complaints regarding Renaissance. The curriculum is challenging, lots of homework, the school is relatively safe and the teachers care. My son has maintained a cumulative 3.8 GPA during his time at Renaissance. I highly recommend Renaissance to parents if it is a good fit for your child.
Emanuel Doss
Emanuel Doss: Class Of 2013
ajenee johnson
ajenee johnson: i am going there next year i'm a eight grader now.
Carus Dixon II
Carus Dixon II: It was an alright school. Just glad to not be there anymore. But I am gonna miss some of my teachers and classes.
Joseph Chavies
Joseph Chavies: I am currently attending Renaissance and absolutely love it, the teacher's are great and supportive and I am glad I chose it and for the lady that gave us 1 star, I know your son and he is not bright at all, he's disruptive and thinks its a joke...in this case "don't hate the school, get on the student".

Demetrius Ramsey
Demetrius Ramsey: First to all Mumford isn't a Cass, Renaissance, or King. It's a Mumford with low scores but great character, care for one another, and respected understanding of life. As a Sophomore I can say I love my high school
TheQueent21

Anon: Went there not perfect. It aright but not ok either. I like a couple of nice people there. . But then again its a nice school with some really bad people too... Don't hate the school hate the people in the school lol
ArLeacia Parker
ArLeacia Parker: I've been here since 9th grade and I am now entering as a senior and along the way I have met some of the most amazing staff members. When I go there I feel protected and safe because the people there are like aunts and uncle who would do anything for me. I have received a great education and I have been challenged. If you don't like this school nine times out of ten you're not going to like the next one and the next one and the next one because high school is all about what you make it. And if you make it crappy then you're going to think its crappy but if you make the most out of it then you're going to have a ball.#LetsGoC/O2016
කිසිවෙකු සැලකිලිමත්
කිසිවෙකු සැලකිලිමත්: Half of the was students can barely spell school. Some of the teachers grade student on how much they like there students rather then work. Bullying is at a all time high. The school gets call in theats atleast once a year. In 2014 after getting a threat they didn't evacuate students, for safty reason. Instead they kept them all (the students) and had them do safety tornado drills. (Like a tornado drill is gonna help you from being blown up.) The day after the threat they had found a grenade no more then 2 blocks away discovered by cops. The kid who was found guilty was so called put in custody. And the year before that the school had a gun warning, one of the teens family members who was doing a drive by (no shots fired yet) of the school because of students being bullied. The uncle of the student was caught and apprehended. While other suspicious roaming vehicles where questioned. And police where brought in. The principle isn't really much of a help but the vice principal is the real women in command helping out all her students. Staff although can be good at times and the worstest of all while participanting in bullying if you ask me. They should replace all current staff with people who don't ignore the schools rules or have favoritism. Or be rude to guest or even can't control there class. Some of the male students there even participate in the sexualtising the female students. With the groping of the butt during lunch or in the hallway. Even group corner girls and sexually harassed them. Some to scared to talk up ashamed of themselves. Along with other problems such as the Cyber bullying, it is at a all time high. And in school bullying why do you think so many fights break out there type up:"mumford school fight"Oh trust me all the results you get shockingly proves why this school so called reformed to be better then the last, but in actuality is worser then ever before. It's a total joke and laugh in the publics eyes. Yeah, tax payers keep paying your taxes the teachers at this school doesn't care if your child or dear loved one is educated or not they just cared about their pay check. And what ever interest them. Surprise guest them and you will see the raw misbehaving uncut like me. Now to post more YouTube videos and vlogs ....

Katie Bushe
Katie Bushe: UPA teachers and staff care about their students! I had the pleasure teaching there for several months before I moved and my experience was a great one. It was a safe environment with a rigorous curriculum. Wonderful teachers and administrators!
Nya& Dlo
Nya& Dlo: its very nice , clean , smart and teachers are outstanding
Gevonchai Hudnall
Gevonchai Hudnall: UPA provides a rigorous academic life for students ensuring a smooth transition from high school to college.
Stefen Kutchey
Stefen Kutchey: UPAHS offers students an opportunity to engage in a rigorous curriculum with small class sizes and a strong sense of community. The administration is also very involved in facilitating student success. UPA is definitely a safe and productive place to learn.
Deborah Jeffries
Deborah Jeffries: UPA high school is a great school
Briana Brown
Briana Brown: The diverse culture and student teacher ratio is just two of the many things that allows our school to stand out.
Denise Douglas
Denise Douglas: This uniquely wonderful school afforded my son opportunities that he may not have had in a local public school. The college and career readiness department, with their one on one college counseling, made sure he was financially able to attend MSU. The staff is efficient, friendly and competent to make sure each student reaches their full potential.
Jerry Lawrence
Jerry Lawrence: UPA High School is a great school that continues to strive for excellence. Over the last couple of years, UPA High has aggressively pushed a progressive education for its students that will prepare them for not only college but for being a productive, contributing citizen at the local, state and national level. Through programming, that promotes community, tolerance, and a rigorous education there is no better school for any student in Detroit to attend!
Michael Thomas
Michael Thomas: School need to make several changes
Jay Mo
Jay Mo: Think twice before sending your child here kids get jump!
JayReena
JayReena: School is not organize staff members are rude and unfair when it comes to certain situation there is a lack of perfection teachers are disrespectful and loud behind closed doors with no respect for themselves or others. There are a few teacher with low teaching abilities that are ghetto and loud. The staff members tell lie base of weather they like students or not. The IEP have a lack of professionalism and are lazy. Honestly the only thing acceptable about this school right now is the power school app that allows students to keep track of there grades. Also the students that do get good grade have less chances than the students with lower grades. The school has a saying which is no students left behind this should be band cause most students are left behind, but I will say this some teacher do there job well and by some I mean about 3. I feel as though most don't really care about the student success but only about the money. The way the school is ran need to be correct immediately. Most students in this school have the mine set on working for other instead of creating there own business . This school is just another system base on perfecting kids to work for others. School starts at 8:00 ends a 3:20 just like a dayshift like most school and the sad part about it is most school are like this sad and pathetic. Hopefully in the future there going to be a better person In charge to run this school. There plenty replacements still needed school acts cheep knowing the get money off each student every count day. It just sad to say if this school don't make changes with in a 3 years the school is going to deteriorate do to the lack careless people in charge. The education system fail African American children by allow this school to run the way it do.#PrayforshittyassUPAIT'S NOTHING LIKE IT SEEMS
Kimberlie Johnson
Kimberlie Johnson: Having been put in a situation to leave a school that my daughter attended since kindergarten because it closed and coming to U Prep in her junior year was a very difficult transition. I believe if she had the pleasure of starting earlier, the experience would've been more beneficial. There have been some down sides but they didn't outweigh the good because some great relationships came out of the experience and Mr. Mangano was very helpful in getting my daughter through some rough spots so, thank you. Front desk staff in the blue building need to be more professional..just a word of encouragement..answering phones and fussing at students while on the phone shows a lack of professionalism.. eating at the desk while parents are coming in...is there a lounge? There should be. Our students should be our priority...if there is a threat..it's never ok and it's not a joke...EVER!!! No explanation is never ok...it's serious..anyone remember Columbine? Yes bad things happen everywhere, however we as staff and parents pulling together can produce change but there's no change in covering things up. God bless U Prep

kirk Booker: I go to the district but at the middle school but so far so good this district is pretty good

BA_FITNESS
BA_FITNESS: Graduated from this school in 2006 and it hasn't changed one bit, sure every school has problems with its kids but that's an issue that starts at the home. This school just like others can only do so much to prevent what kids learn and pick up at home. I hate to see people blame the school for this and that when it should be the parents teaching there kids how to act and carry themselves with out them being around.
Stacey Cathey
Stacey Cathey: If you want your child victimized, and the school tries to act as if it didn't happen then send your child here. FYI if you are a concerned parent, they treat you like crap and your child will feel the negative impact.
Shae Ealyboykin
Shae Ealyboykin: Alright school the teachers and security communicate very well and always there to answer questions.
