Fort Pontchartrain Detroit: what do users think?
Christina Pham: Honestly this hotel was perfect for what we needed. Staff was amazing, especially Christina, and accommodated whatever we needed. I recommend this spot and I’ll book again :)Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Luxury, Great view, Romantic, Quiet, Great value …More
Larry Collins: Hotel staff was amazing. Room views are great
Jason Guidry: Very pleased with this hotel and the excellent customer service and warm hospitality provided by Ken at the front desk. We had some unfortunate events that brought us into the hotel well before normal check in time……not only did he get us into a room well before lunch, he also gave us a suite with a view of the festival at Hart Plaza. I have come to this festival many times in the past and stayed at other hotels downtown but the proximity to the Hart Plaza was the closest I had ever stayed, and not be at the Marriott Renaissance. The room was clean, updated and really a surprise stay that I scored at a very steep discount…..not sure how I got the deal that I did, but that was a win, Ken was a win, the room and hotel definitely a winner for me…..I am looking forward to coming back next May and will look at this property for that stay as well. Kudos to the staff during the very busy weekend for all the crazy people attending Movement!!Walkability: Close to the people mover station, the river walk and Hart Plaza as well as restaurants and shopping!
Robert Knop: Hands down the best experience I have ever had at a hotel! I had the pleasure of meeting the Food and Beverage Manager Andrea, she is fantastic to say the least! Great food, drinks and hospitality! While I really enjoyed the hotel bar/restaurant, if you choose to venture out you are in walking distance to other bars and eateries as well as Ford Field and Comerica Park. Next time your in Detroit this is THE place to stay!Rooms: Beds are very comfortable, have all the necessary amenitiesNearby activities: Ford Field, Comerica Park, Greekt town and Cork town.Safety: Security is top notch!Food & drinks: Full breakfast spread! Bar opens at 11, amazing cocktails!
Elizabeth Campbell: The staff was fantastic, Urban Cellars Breakfast buffet was delicious and our kids ate for free! Great location.Rooms: Our room and bathroom were on the smaller sideSafety: Felt very safe!Walkability: Close to everything, if you don't want to walk too far you can hop on the People MoverFood & drinks: We wish the Top of the Pounch was open, but it's only open at certain times. Urban Cellars breakfast was great, great value!!
Jena Kennelty: April at the front desk was amazingly helpful, kind, and disarming! Thank you for making our stay so wonderful.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Luxury, Great view, Quiet, Great value …More
Jennifer Dupree: Service is not the bestOnly one restaurant and not a stocked barSlow serviceShort staffedRooms basic but don’t wait to get it cleaned they won’t clean it Not a 4 or 5 star hotelNo place I would stay again and this is being nice
Palestra ben fornita.Ottima wi-fi.
Mark Cooper: Deborah was great checking me in. She’s so friendly. location is great. Right downtown in Detroit food in the restaurant was OK not bad.Rooms: Room is a standard hotel room. Only thing I would say is they don’t clean it only every three days. This must be a post Covid requirement.Walkability: It’s right downtown so the access to everything is easy
Josh Gamer: I always enjoy it here! The location makes exploring easy. The staff is also very helpful; thank you, Delia! I ask and I receive. Great service . Looking forward to my next trip here.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Eric West: Sarah C was great. Excellent service and made us laugh!Rooms: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Great view …More
Madison Ricketts: Disgusting black mold all over the bathroom. Will never ever be back. We ended up leaving once we noticed. Room 820, AVOID THIS PLACE.Rooms: 1/5|Service: 2/5|Location: 5/5 …More
joshua roof: Staying at the Fort Pontchartrain a Wyndham Hotel has been a good experience. The rooms are comfortable and comparable to a Hilton garden room. The front desk staff is helpful and friendly. At the restaurant by the lobby look up Sarah Corbit. She is a grat server and treats you like family. Nice experience over all here at the Fort Pontchartrain a Wyndham Hotel
Christopher Mercurio: Great service from Sarah Corbit at the bar!Service: 5/5 …More
Dwight Wagaman: This hotel is ideally located to the Huntington convention center and other venues in downtown Detroit. The service at this hotel was great and especially from Sarah Corbit at the Ponchartain bar.
Cory Weber: Rooms: Great viewFood & drinks: Good options, Sarah Corbit was great
Diane C: Front desk supervisor Brandy assisted with last minute change to block of rooms when a colleague was unable to attend and someone else had to come instead. Greatly appreciated her outstanding service!Rooms: 4/5|Service: 4/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Dustin S.: Room not clean, breakfast, which I paid extra for, was out of most things the entire 30 min. List goes on, but not worth anymore of my time.

The Inn at 97 Winder: what do users think?
Kim Pratt: It was a nice experience.Rooms: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Rwings73: The staff are amazing and the place is beautiful. So much to do all within walking distance.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Denise Toler: Stayed here in March for a Red Wings hockey game. Being able to park and walk to the arena was great! Felt very safe and the walk was only about a block. The room was comfortable, the bed was comfortable, and the service was very accommodating. We will definitely stay here again for our trips to see the Red Wings play!Nearby activities: Walking distance to Little Caesar's Arena
Becca Anderson: Spacious rooms & attached bathrooms. Staff was super friendly. We appreciated their responsiveness when the heat was too high in our room. Would recommend reupholstering the furniture in the rooms as it was all pretty worn. Perfect location for any downtown sporting events.Rooms: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Melody Kruger: Beautiful inn - main floor, hallways, and guest rooms. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed. The entire mansion has the feel of luxury lodging. The staff is friendly and helpful. The location cannot be beat. Just one block from LCA. Parking (paid) is right out the back door. There was no water glass in the room, but this was probably an oversight. Communication could have been better, but the overall experience made up for this.Addendum: On my second stay here, I noticed a few things that could improve. The rooms need to have a water glass, either disposable or glass, in the room. Again, I had to go looking for one in the kitchen. For the price, I expected a breakfast spread better than the average chain hotel cereal, yougurt, and store-bought pastries. The inn is still a very nice place to stay, with an unbeatable location if you’re going to LCA, but next year I’ll go for cheaper lodging and deal with a little transportation inconvenience. And be aware that you will pay $25 for parking in the “inn’s lot,” above and beyond the night’s lodging cost.
Zach Waas Smith: Beware! This place has achieved an *aesthetic*. But as we all know, looks aren’t everything. Aside from the authentic decor, there were no redeeming qualities about the experience of our 1-night stay in a "premium" room. I stay in a lot of hotels and splurged on this place for a special occasion, only to be sorely disappointed. You want a 4-star hotel? Save your money and go elsewhere.1. Questionable security at best. The lock on the room door was a standard handle lock that was finicky and difficult to operate. The key would spin and spin - I was never sure it locked and there are no additional locks on the door (deadbolts, chains, etc).2. Once in the room, it was very cold and we discovered it was only heated by a small space heater on the floor. Not quite what I expect from any hotel, much less a “4-star” hotel, but I figured we'd try it... We unfortunately didn't discover it was inadequate until we woke up shivering at 3am.3. There are no basic amenities in the room (i.e. coffee maker, mini fridge, cups or drinking glasses, not even a table for our stuff!). We looked up and the chandelier was not secured to the ceiling properly, either. Simply not 4-star quality.4. *THIS* is the kicker. Got in the jacuzzi tub (that we paid extra $ for) and when we turned on the jets, a bunch of disgusting crud came blasting out. Absolutely horrifying. See the photos.5. Jumped in the shower to wash off the nasty slime, but the shower was also janky! The knobs were falling off the wall, difficult to operate, and the temperature kept wildly fluctuating. We eventually got it “good enough” and took an uncomfortable shower.6. Got out of the shower and discovered how scratchy and rough the towels were. We’re talking bottom-of-the-barrel budget motel quality. Come on! For $375/night, at least go to Meijer and buy me a soft towel! lol but truly, just terrible. Oh, and no towel racks or hooks anywhere to hang them on.7. Are the beds from 1887, too?? I’ve slept on pull out couches more comfortable than this bed. It collapses in the middle (like a deflating air mattress) and you can feel the springs jabbing you. Give me a pillow top, at least! Again, NOT 4-star quality.8. Even just getting INTO the hotel is weird. The front door is locked and has no windows. You have to ring a doorbell to be let in, but the doorbell was missing so we had to call some phone number and eventually somebody would come get us. Even once we got our keys, we still couldn’t use the front door and had to walk around to the back to get in. And they were using the parking lot as event parking, so it was PACKED with cars.9. Breakfast? Served? It's barely a run of the mill continental. And they awkwardly forced all the guests to sit at the one table, even though there were other tables in the sitting area. Finally, to top it all off, when I requested to speak with a manager about my stay, there conveniently wasn't one there. I asked them to call me when they were in, but of course they never did and when I called them, she was never there. The ladies on staff when I was there were nice enough, but whoever is running this joint should be ashamed. Thanks for the laughably paltry refund, I guess, but this is without a doubt NOT a 4-star hotel!
Teresa Corey: The location is great for sporting events, restaurants and the theatres BUT the property and rooms are un-kept and some of the staff was rude and seemed irritated that we were there. The main floor is beautiful but the guest rooms are un-kept. Also, the parking lot is rented out to a third-party that parks cars for other events in the city. They night we stayed here, there was a pistons game. My husband is handicapped and when we left the property to go to dinner, we were told that our handicap spot would be there when we returned; it was not. The lot was full and they wanted our keys to park our car in a difference location. We refused as we wanted our car where we were staying and they were rude and unaccommodating! The room we reserved was totally different than what they displayed in the pictures. The bed was horrible; the springs in the mattress was poking me in the back and it sagged so badly in the middle, I had a hard time getting out of it. Everything in our room was dusty and the air return vents in the room and the bathroom were covered in dust and grime! The hallway outside our room was dirty, crumbs from some type of food. The bathroom floor was dusty and the cover plate for the bathroom switch was disgusting. Our room was hot when we checked in. They closed off the vent in our room. When we were heading out to dinner, we asked that, If we did get cold, could we get a blanket. We were told that there was a blanked in the armoire. When we returned, our room was freezing and we couldn’t reach the vents to open them again. We found someone down on the main floor and asked if we could get a blanked. She said she was busy but would “try” to get us a blanked in about 20 minutes; she never showed! I woke up with a sore throat and dripping nose from being so cold. The ceiling light bulbs were burnt out.We went down for the continental breakfast. The lady that was there was rude and seemed irritated that we were there. She asked if we wanted "fresh fruit" but when I went to eat it, the fruit was rotten! I decided to have a bagel but it was stale and she was irritated that I didn’t want to eat it. I asked for milk to have some cereal and she watched me as I poured it into the bowl and when I put it down, she took it away. She watched our every move; it made us very uncomfortable! Also, the walls are paper thin so we heard everything anyone did the entire night. This was not a pleasant experience and we will be staying elsewhere in the future!
Mariana Zayas: Loved the historic setting and decor. It was close to the Eastern Market that we visited for a wedding reception. The vibe is great but the walls are very thin and you can hear your neighbors clearly. The mattress was fine - not great but also not uncomfortable. Checkin was smooth and easy.Rooms: 3/5|Service: 4/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Joyce Henk: Nearby activities: Excellent location! Walking distance to sports/concert venues and local restaurants.Rooms: 3/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Great view, Romantic, Quiet …More
Bella Reyes: Booked through a 3rd party. I don’t recommend that because you will never know about all the hidden fees until you arrive. Got there and the deposit is more than the room. Ontop of that there is 25$ parking fee, why? We already paid to stay there why would we pay to park? The room was just that a room with a space heater to keep us warm. The bathroom had a huge shower , that was the best part of the room. The room was cold, not clean, and didn’t even look like anyone cared about the I kind at all. I was shocked that I had to pay 250 deposit (reservations never said that-the hotel site does though (but again 3rd party sign up). I don’t think this place should be charging so much for a room, charging a deposit that exceeds the amount of the room, and charges you for parking your car their while you stay your stay with them. The staff was shocked when I came early but that’s because they didn’t bother answering their phones the 20 times they were called between me and the place that helped me book it in the first place. Check in is at 4pm and out at 11am, not even 24hrs and that’s ontop of all those fees. Save yourself a trip & find a hotel. You will get more for your money and feel better about it.
Rebecca De Waard: Room was on the 3rd floor with no elevator so not good for us old people, especially when you want to get a cup of coffee. No way to regulate room temperature, the fan in the bathroom couldn't be shut off, the TV didn't work,no coffeemaker in room, continental breakfast was minimal at best, but the coffee was good, 1 of the beds was very soft and uncomfortable, pillows were so-so. For $250 a night + $25 parking, it's not worth it. The best thing I can say about this place was the Hostess was awesome; also, it's a close walk to Little Caesars Arena.
Jessica Campbell: Great location, staff was attentive and kind, room was mediocre.Rooms: 3/5|Service: 4/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Max Sobolevskiy: Well, I have mixed feelings:Pros:– Unbelievable vibes of an old restored house with many authentic things– The proper spring (not bloody foam) mattress– I had two-level room with the oriel window which I think is the best room in the property– Location is greatCons:– I met two ladies on the check-in desk. One of them was really nice and friendly, the other one was arrogant and was gaslighting me about not working WiFi– Yes, WiFi didn't work in my particular room #32. To use it I needed to get out of the room.– Breakfast are just bagels and fruits.– When I asked to live my stuff until my flight, that arrogant lady was not happy and said "usually we don't allow it". Wow! I've been to hundred of hotels and this one is first where they "usually we don't allow it". And guess what? Finally she let my stuff to be left and it took zero efforts from her time.
Gayle Krufal: Safety: The city felt very safe, and was much cleaner than I expected.Walkability: Great location!. Walking distance from ALL of the major sport stadiums in Detroit. Our room had a view of Comerica Park and Ford Field. We were in town for a concert at The Masonic Temple Theater and ended up walking back to the hotel (about 1.5 miles) at night.
Russ Newlin: Recently stayed there for one night during a hockey game. Don’t expect much. It’s an old house with old furniture and old decor. Be aware that they charge extra for parking. I was not told that upon arrival but noticed the charge on my card. When I called to question it, they said it was communicated to me upon checkin. This is coming from the exact same lady that checked me in. I even read the fine print when I was initialing the check in paperwork as she told me no one ever reads it. If I would have been told that up front, then I would have parked in one of the many open spots on the street for free. Ok place to lay your head after a hockey game just one block from the arena, but don’t expect anything fancy. And sure don’t expect them to care about what was or was not communicated to you once you have departed.
Kat Pitcole: Can not wait to stay here again. Fantastic location! Amazing home. Safe parking. great staff. Highly recommend it!Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More

Mike Kinney: Just stayed here, the wife loved the idea of staying in an old mansion, we were not disappointed. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was over the top but in a good way, wrought iron staircase to a sitting room in the turret was my favourite . We went to a red wings game, which was 2 minutes walk away, neighborhood looked and felt very safe and friendly to walk around. Will definitely stay here again.

Naomi Tingler: Valet was quick and friendly.Check in was quick.Bar located downstairs, strong drinks, fair prices, and friendly service. Our room had a beautiful view.
Jessica Henry: This hotel is quite the gem in Downtown Detroit. So refreshing to see true full service boutique hotels absolutely thriving! The service levels in this hotel are outstanding. And the cuisine in The Apparatus Room is second to none in the area. The hotel itself is rustic modern, built into the former fire headquarters building in Detroit. Just stunning!

Saad Gasgous: Update 4/2023: this place is consistently good, which is a great thing! I highly recommend it.Haven't stayed overnight but love the apparatus room restaurant and the look and feel of the hotel! Great location and nice ppl for sure!
Elijah Auger: Almost perfect, but two big misses, each worth a whole star according to my scientific calculation.First, what was good: the location is fantastic, the building is absolutely beautiful. One of the best restaurants and cocktail bars in the city shares the building. The rooms are spacious and well outfitted. The bathrooms are gorgeous. The king size bed was extremely comfortable. Blackout curtains, soft sheets, beautiful architectural details, good HVAC. Like I said, this room is almost perfect. So why did it lose two stars:1. the mini fridge had a temperature display that was almost as bright as the sun, which could not be turned off unless you unplug the fridge. Even with the blackout curtains, this room had a bright blue glow all night long, pointed directly at the bed.2. The shower head in the bathroom was among the strangest I've ever seen, and completely unusuable. This thing had a grand total of 9 holes for water to come out, and boyhowdy did the water come out. Very fitting with the firehouse theme, as it felt like I was being sprayed by a firehose. I decided to forgo the shower until I got home later that day. These two issues could probably be solved for under $400 per room, and then this is a pure five star hotel.
Zappa Brannigan: This place is SICK! So comfy! So clean! The room service food was bummy though… 😂
Laura Fiorino: Amazing building and staff!
Ryan Pettey: Can't say enough how impressed we were with this place. They managed the perfect mix between keeping the charm of the old building but adding modern finishes and conveniences. My wife said her Paloma was the best she had. And the brunch in the morning was seriously good. We'll definitely stay there again and we'll absolutely eat there again.Rooms: The room was clean and modern. They added outlets with USB plugs which was a great touchNearby activities: Tons of restaurants, close to all the stadiums, the opera house, the DIA, I'm really you're within a 10 min Lyft of everything downtown.Safety: The area is really safe, anyone who says anything to the contrary hasn't been downtown in probably 15 years.Walkability: easy walk to campus martius, literally across the street from the conference center, a block off not too bad of a walk to the Fox theater, but we took a Lyft which at a prime time right outside the Fox was about 30 bucks.Food & drinks: Food and drinks were crazy good!
E Musgrave: Fab stay! Room was modern and clean. Restaurant was available and decent food. The valets were super quick too.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Luxury …More
Jonathan Glymph: Great experience staying in the Chairman’s suite!

Hotel at The Detroit Club: what do users think?
Mateo Marchan: Outdated institution and facility. I spent one night at the Spa Suite as I passed through town. The spa was mediocre, the front staff was unpleasant, and I later learned about the owner's bigotry. I wouldn’t recommend lodging at the Detroit Club.Additionally: I struggled falling asleep on the fourth floor due to street and hallway noise. Our spa suite had a severe lack of soundproofing.
Mel: I'd advise staying at the Foundation hotel instead. Or sonder if you want a budget option. This place is stuffy, pretentious & the minimal noise insulation from room to hallway had me getting woken up all night by rowdy guests. The grotto is very relaxing, but the rooms are outdated and not great for the price.
Sikei Clark: Vey nice hotel the stay was well worth it I definitely would recommend this hotel
doug mcdonald: Well preserved historic building but but could not accomodate half of my friends party even though there was enough roomService: 3/5|Location: 4/5 …More
Jeremy Howe: What a cool little spot for Detroit! The stay was basically made by the guy Alex at the desk who just made everything so easy and made my stay amazing. It was a long trip to Detroit but it really made me feet better to have that kind of hospitality.Rooms: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Lucia Step: This review is based on pictures of the hotel and the inside of the lobby, because the hotel sold my room to someone else. I made a reservation on Expedia and paid ahead of time. When I arrived to check in, the front desk clerk--who was very nice--told me the hotel realized it was overbooked a few days earlier and had contacted Expedia. However, Expedia did not contact me until after I was already on my way to check in.I know these things happen sometimes, but I was very upset that a manager did not offer to help me find a new hotel or to apologize. People pay for hotels ahead of time because they need a place to stay--I did my planning, why hadn't the hotel? The clerk was sympathetic and kind, and I could tell he would have liked to help me, but he was busy checking in other guests. The hotel has a strict dress code, which I did not realize. Apparently sneakers and leggings are not allowed, so I wonder if this is why no one seemed to want to help me. Then again, I saw other guests checking in who were wearing similar clothing, so who knows.I'm not sure if Expedia or the hotel was really at fault here, but why would the hotel use Expedia if they are not going to honor the reservations? Again, I had fully paid for the hotel room at the booking time. The hotel itself is stunning. You could stay there for a vacation and never leave. I'm sure I would have spent a lot more money going for drinks or to the spa, but I never got the chance.
G T: Rude management and awful customer service.
Richard Gerber: Most comfortable beds ever. Right in the middle of everything. Very Exclusive. The salt water grotto pool is like out of a movie. The jets super 👌 powerful. The staff delightful.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Taylor Cross: Hidden gem downtown Detroit! Had a wonderful weekend stay with my significant other. Gorgeous architecture and decor, luxurious and pampering! Definitely check out the spa and grotto and book a treatment if you can! Fantastic cocktails at the bar and Cigar Lounge as well. Davinia Rizzo: While in town on business travel, I noticed the historical Detroit Club building and looked it up. It seemed interesting, so I booked a massage followed by dinner. This was the best decision I made on my trip!I had the back, shoulder and neck massage at the Spa. Much needed after days of traveling and long hours of work. The spa was luxurious, the masseuse was highly skilled, and I felt great afterwards. The spa is on the bottom floor and includes a pool, sauna and very large changing room with lockers (very luxurious) with all the amenities for you to return yourself to 'normal' after your treatments and go into public!I arrived early for my dinner reservation - it was technically before the restaurant opened but the staff was super nice and seated me anyway. They shared the history of the building and the club and showed me interesting details (the dining room still has the original wallpaper at the top of the ~20 ft ceilings and the chandeliers that are electric now are the same ones that used to hold candles.). The dining room is luxurious in every way. You truly get a feel of what private clubs in the late 1800s were like. You can tell the club is working to maintain the luxury and exclusiveness - so that when one attends the club, it feels very special. It's actually a real treat to get to go to the club as it used to be membership only - but due to being closed during COVID - they have opened up to non-members. They do plan to eventually go back to a membership basis so I highly recommend going now - especially if you don't live in the area, like me!The staff was super friendly and very responsive and made me feel at home. Since I was by myself, I had time to look around and watch. The staff learns everyone's name and addresses them by name during the whole meal. It was touching to see the staff preparing tables for upcoming reservations. I heard them saying to each other: 'This table is for the XX family. Let's move this here so they can see out the window. This table is for so and so - we should put the glasses here.' They were thinking about the experience just like you and I would plan for family coming to eat. I also noticed - with my meal and others - that the food is served in courses - with very intentional timing based on time to eat the previous course, digestion time, etc. They specifically discussed these courses and the timing when I asked. It was perfect for me to enjoy the meal - but very unlike typical American dining experiences where you have starters, an entrée and dessert and they are served as fast as you can wolf them down or even at the same time. Be sure to plan time to eat here - don't expect to rush. I was never longer than 5 minutes without a course, but I was given enough time to eat it and a course was never brought out before I had finished the one before. The food was top notch! I had french mussels - cooked perfectly with a garlic butter sauce and warm bread for my first course. It was followed by a super crisp , fresh caeser salad. I had the filet mignon (which is a generous 9 oz filet) which was cooked exactly as I ordered (my waitress waited while I cut it to make sure). I had the wild mushrooms with my filet - very tasty. And, since I can never resist a dessert, I had the triple chocolate cake served with vanilla bean ice cream. This is a REAL cake. Absolutely delicious. And huge. By this time I was beyond stuffed - it was all too good! All in all - an excellent experience at a historically interesting and beautiful location -with super friendly staff and top notch services and food. I will definitely come again when I am in Detroit.
meow Meow: Gorgeous. My husband used the word sumptuous to describe it. We dined at the hotel restaurant, it was good. Our room was nice.Rooms: 4/5|Service: 4/5|Location: 4/5 …More
leon divers: Horrible.little family owned Hotel/Club. Rude Managment. Operating a hotel is not something they do well. All the employees basically live there. Valet is also the cook/maintenance man/security..
Angela S: Terrible management that takes advantage of young employees! Do not work here or support this business. I'm a college student that looked forward to working here over the summer yet after one day it was the most degrading job experience I have ever had. The wait staff and chefs were incredibly kind but the owner behaved in a very distasteful manner. My first event I and other employees were promised a pay rate of 7 dollars an hour+ gratuity. They even asked me to stay an hour late!!!! To this day, a month later, I have yet to receive any pay whatsoever. I've called the management only to be rudely cut off by the receptionist saying the "situation was under control." It has been 3 weeks and no owner, management, or anybody from the business has reached out about my wages being withheld. They have completely stopped answering the phone. The last I've heard from another employee that also wasn't paid, was that they are refusing to pay! I feel taken advantage of. What type of establishment hires specifically young women and doesn't pay them? During my one day of the employment the owner exhibited strong racist undertones as well. I would not support this business unless you are ok with the mistreatment of staff!

Hotel Saint Regis Detroit: what do users think?
Kathy Fountain-Giles: Little things mean a lot, the little things are missing here. There is a lovely bar, but it is only open 5-11. No place to get a drink outside those hours. Even ice can only be obtained from the bar. The reports of scalding water in the shower are true, in our room it extended to the sink and toilet. The seat on toilet was loose. No where to get a drink of water in the morning, except for melted ice. It is near the Fox Theatre, QLine, and some iconic Detroit buildings and good restaurants. Only one elevator works. The first floor is lovely when it’s open. A nice place to visit between 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm, but I won’t be staying again.Rooms: None stop scalding water. Temperature is controlled by fan that runs constantly. Lighting is dim.
M: After reading the reviews, I have some context as to well there are so many things wrong with this hotel. But they should just shut it down to finish renovations, ice machine broken, AC not adequately cooling down the room, loud music downstairs in the evenings, broken finishings in the room, $20 charge for self parking in an effectively ungated lot, the list goes on and on. I guess It’s a roof over your head, if you are out of options.
Kei Henderson: I’ve never stayed in a nastier room and I’ve stayed at motels before. Many times. This building needs a complete overhaul. They only invested money in the lobby, which is quite deceiving. The rooms look like prison, no paint, wallpaper, art, super super old furniture, no overhead lighting. The cleaning staff I’m sure is doing their best but judging by the accommodations they aren’t paid very well so I don’t blame them. This place really should shut down for 6 months and remodel. What a waste of money.Rooms: Gross.
Sammar Maghathe: I've been in here for about an hour and I already highly do not recommend. If it wasn't for the conference occupying most of the hotels in the area I would have left immediately. Highly disappointed. I'm not sure if it was having to wait a good 10 mins before seeing a front desk receptionist to get checked in or the fact that my room looks COMPLETELY different than what was pictured. I booked a king room and was given a room with queen beds, now telling me there are no king rooms available. Oh and I was just informed there is no cold water throughout the entire hotel and the room temp only goes down to 71f. No one informed me of those issues at before checking in.
Todd Davidson: I'll start with the fact that I've definitely stayed at worse hotels. Hence, the two star review.- This is NOT a Bonvoy/Marriott property, and it is definitely misrepresented as a Saint Regis. It's run by a local "ownership group."- The rooms shown in the listing look NOTHING like what I booked. Fairly run down. I asked for a room that matched the description and was told they're "premium rooms" and were all booked.- As best I can tell, there are no services - restaurant or bar - available besides a vending machine Monday or Tuesday.- NO COLD water! This stole the show. I didn't believe the reviews, but it's true. I pushed for a new room and was told it was the whole hotel!!! I tried adjusting the valves leading to the fauset, both hot. Toilet water, hot. I was provided two bottles of chilled water.Book elsewhere.Safety: I did not feel safe walking around after dark.Walkability: Uber. Cab it. Drive. Don't walk.
Aurora Carver: This location is in the center of everything. The staff is super friendly and very accommodating.
P31 Designs: The entrance and lobby are great. HOWEVER, the room they tried to give us was straight trash. We immediately checked out and booked at the Wyndham. They went beyond false advertising. They LIED!! I posted actual pics of the room they tried to give us.Rooms: 1/5|Service: 3/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Elizabeth Becker: I wanted to like this hotel. Our daughter was getting married at Jam Handy down the street, so it was convenient. And historic, unique! Or so I thought. We stayed May 5th and 6th with checkout on the 7th.The positives:The clerk that checked us in was personable and performed her job efficiently. Also, the elevators worked. And the room ventilation worked and if you left it on air conditioning, the fan ran all night, providing much needed white noise. There is a LOT of emergency vehicle activity on Grand Boulevard.Things we didn’t know:1. They host a dance party the first Friday of the month in the lobby. I was on the sixth floor and could not hear myself think, much less sleep. It was very late (at least 1am) when it stopped, and then people came to their rooms, laughing, slamming doors…clearly pretty drunk.2. They do not provide cold water. Not in the sink, not in the shower. It was one degree short of scalding. Thankfully, the shower head was a cheap handheld (mounted backward also) so I was able to gently wash my hair while not burning my body. I hope they are suing their plumber, as they were smoking SOMETHING when they worked on this hotel.3. It is self serve parking for $20 a night. This is not Chicago, New York…for the price of the room, the parking should be included. Plus, the lot could not accommodate all the cars when you got there later in the evening. The attendant squeezed us in, but others followed us and I have no idea where he stuck them.4. I’ve stayed at Holiday Inns that were better appointed. Cheap flooring, poor lighting, shoddy workmanship, the only thing that was REMOTELY nice was the bed. Lots of pillows, decent bedding, and comfortable.I know this building was gutted and remodeled. Someone needs to provide some investment capital so they can actually make this property into a true gem for Detroit. Right now it is just an embarrassment. With taxes, I paid just over $456.86 for 2 nights. The worst hotel stay I have ever had, ESPECIALLY for that amount of money.Rooms: As I mentioned before, there was no cold water in the bathroom faucets. Neither the sink or shower. A child could not have used the shower, it was way too hot. While I don’t care that there was no carpet because at least I can see the dirt on the hard flooring, it was cheap looking flooring. No full length mirror or any mirror except in the bathroom.
Chris Nash: The Assistant Engineer, Brian, took care of us in the most professional and friendly manner. After bringing up our mini fridge, he discovered that the room was without an ice bucket. He returned almost immediately with not only the bucket but had gone out of his way to fill it with ice. Super high character and very engaging. We were thrilled with his ability to make us feel welcome. Thank you Brian, it was our pleasure to write you a positive review.Chris and Amy NashColumbus, Ohio
Mary Aho: Here now … the music is ridiculousRooms: 4/5|Service: 4/5|Location: 4/5 …More
Whitney M.: Staff were friendly and very helpful and knowledgeable about the area.Walkability: Close to Qline last stop on Woodward so easy to get aroundFood & drinks: Good drinks at the BLVD Lounge and food was good too.
Jason Stenger: The lobby and bar area were nice. Food and drinks were really good.Room was very shabby, heat/ac did not work well and was loud. Showerhead was patched together. Only one towel in the room. Furniture was very worn. Floors and walls were stained. Beds were comfortable but overall the room was very disappointing.Rooms: ShabbyFood & drinks: Good food drinks
toriola Odunsi: Amazing rooms, have amazing art; Van Gogh exhibited on walls and nice for pictures as well.Nearby activities: Not exactly center of downtown but, location thrice suffices.Noteworthy details: Van Gogh.
Carol Reynolds: Only hot water.asked for towels we had to go get them.dirty stains hallway carpet. Bar restaurant. Not open .sad it's looks beautiful just a tease.had to pay for parking.just wrongRooms: 1/5|Service: 1/5|Location: 4/5 …More

Mint House Downtown Detroit: what do users think?
Kayla Koch: Like other reviewers, I booked a room for a concert at a reasonable price. Now that there's no affordable options left, they're trying to cancel my reservation, forcing me to choose a more expensive option. I'm assuming they're doing this to then relist the room at a higher rate.BUYER BEWARE. You might be left without accommodates at last-minute.Thankfully, my booking is through Airbnb who is helping me to resolve, but these sneaky Mint House people are trying to get me to cancel instead of them canceling on their end so they don't get dinged on their Airbnb account. As I said, BUYER BEWARE.EDIT: Airbnb helped me cancelled my reservation. Mint House had said the reason they needed to cancel was that they are no longer operating this location, but when I look at their own website, it is still completely bookable - it's only sold out for the night I'm staying. So they're 100% trying to get a higher price. I DO NOT RECOMMEND and don't think businesses like Airbnb should continue to work with these cheats/scammers.
Robert “Mr Bob” McCollom: 5 Star Location but don’t bring a car. Nice appointments: adequately equipped kitchen. Towels and linens 5 star. Plenty of Luke warm “hot” water. Clean.
M D: Still waiting for my free cancellation refund. Called twice! Horrible!!!
Katrina: Directions to get into property were unclear. No attendant is on duty to help.Sheets were very obviously already used.No iron to iron clothes.Towels smelled unclean as well.I called mint house to resolve the issues and they asked me to resolve the issue myself. Will not be staying here again.
Lyssette Rodriguez: I loved the condo and the location, however, all this was overshadowed by how miserable we were made to feel by the staff in the rental. I rated it 2 stars because of the experience we had.Unless you plan on only sleeping, DO NOT… I repeat DO NOT book this place! If you turn on the tv and talk, a security guard will knock on your door and ask you to be quiet. Any time you talk or turn the tv on, you will get a knock by a security guard. The house rules state no noise after 9pm! Totally false! No noise PERIOD!!! They knocked on my door at 6pm, 8pm. Pretty much anytime we entered the building. We were the only people staying on the floor. I saw no one but us this weekend.I came for an event in Detroit this weekend with 4 other people. We are not party people. We just like to chat and hang out/ watch TV. After a long day of walking, we just wanted to relax and settle in. Every time we entered the room and talked, a security guard would come tell us that we were reported for being too loud. There is loud music playing in the hallways.. so I was truly confused! On our final night, my husband stepped out to buy something to drink and eat and when he came back the manager was waiting for him at the door. Since we were the only people on the floor, they knew who we were. They both engaged in an arguing fit. My husband is no angel, he was so frustrated and upset. I had to step in and break it up.I told her I don’t understand how we are being loud, we are just talking, her response: the sensors are sensitive and pick up noise and it sends an alert to them. Then she said no one had actually complained but the sensors were going off. I said can you change the sensitivity level on the sensor, because we truly are not being loud. I’ve stayed in places were people are having a party and smoking weed and have been so bothered! I would never be that ignorant. To end the argument and just squash it, we asked kindly, can she then tell us how loud can we be? How do I know I’m being too loud? After trying to figure out .. what the heck is acceptable noise level, the manager told us if we were reported again, we would be asked to leave in 20 minutes! So I basically paid over 800 dollars to be told I can be kicked out if the noise sensor was triggered! This needs to be added to the house rule! The way it is written is deceiving. It should state, exactly what she told us, if you make noise.. any noise and you are warned 3 times be asked to leave. If I would have read this, I would have never booked this property.
Kennady Jones: It was a good location and room. But unfortunately, it was one of the worst stays I’ve ever had. We had a few people over on Friday night before 10pm and—without warning—got asked to pack our things and leave by security. Kicked to the curb 11am on the street in a place we aren’t familiar with at all. Wouldn’t ever stay here againRooms: 4/5|Service: 1/5|Location: 4/5 …More
Megan Frey: the apartment itself as well as the people there were amazing. HOWEVER, I was never informed of a “deposit” they would take out the first night of our stay. they said i would receive at the end of my stay as long as there was no damage (i work for an apt complex so i know how this goes) we did absolutely NO damage and left that place spotless so that we would receive that money back. they took my entire deposit and didn’t want to tell me why when i tried calling. wish they would have told me they would be charging me $200+ more dollars for only 2 nights for.a concert since i would have chose somewhere else more affordable. I understand if there was damage but the only time we spent in the apt was to sleep since we were only there for a concert. i just want my money back.
Michael Crouse: Stayed for a weekend while in town for a concert. The room was very clean the amenities were very nice and what I would have expected. It was nice having more of a home feel than going and staying in a cookie cutter hotel. The only thing that kept this from being a 5 star rating from me is the mattresses in each of the rooms whe rooms were broke down and did need to be replaced.
Kevin Calabrese: Had an excellent stay at the Mint House in Detroit. Everything went smoothly and the unit was really clean and spacious. Couldn’t have been better.
bob young: I booked a two bedroom- two bathroom unit on Expedia in September of 2021 for March 16-20 2022 at the Mint house for the NCAA Wrestling Tournament. I paid for the unit at the time of the booking. I called the Mint House the week before arrival and was assured that everything was in order. On March 11 I was notified that due to mechanical issues my reservation wasbeing cancelled. I booked the unit for about $800 and I am sure that the reservation wascancelled so that the unit could be rented for over $2000. Due to high demand, regular hotelrooms in downtown Detroit were about 100% booked. The ones available went for $750 a night. To accommodate my family I had to go outside of downtown and pay $2500. Needless to say, it was not good.Bob Young
Sarah Chardo: This place was WONDERFUL. Would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for reasonable yet upscale accommodations in Detroit. Overall, very impressed!A few things to mention:Pros:-Very close to the downtown grand circus park area. Very easy to get an Uber from the hotel to anywhere, even in March. We stayed the weekend for a concert and had no trouble exploring or getting around nearby.-Check-in and check-out was so ridiculously easy. They send you a code for your door around 10 minutes before check-in time. It would have been nice to check in early, but the lobby is comfortable and had some activities if you needed to kill time.-BEAUTIFUL enormous room. Bathroom was huge. Bed was super comfortable. Full kitchen was well stocked and clean. Tons of keurig kcups and some excellent snacks were provided. I don't know why I was so impressed with the coffee setup but I really appreciated it!-Excellent value for the money. For the size of the accommodations, it was really affordable and comfortable.Cons:-They do require a $200 security deposit and a background check, and it took about 10 days for the deposit to return to my account. I wouldn't have had an issue with this, except they buried it deep in the paperwork. I wish it was more transparent at the time of booking (and I booked directly from their website). Because you're in an apartment building with tenants, I don't think the background check itself was unreasonable, though.-The price per night was listed at $80, but with taxes and fees and everything else, it came to $123 per night. But, that was still a MUCH better deal than any of the surrounding hotels. And totally worth it.-No front desk attendant or concierge service. We didn't need anything during our two nights, but I can imagine this would be offputting to some people. (I believe they'd be reachable via electronic means, but we didn't ever have to. The privacy was nice tbh).
Lauren Hall: Reserved an airbnb apartment with Mint House for the Mo Pop festival in Detroit. The price was super reasonable and the location was perfect. The host messaged me before confirming the listing to tell me they were excited for my stay and to give me some information about check-in. They never officially confirmed my reservation and so it expired. When I realized, I went to book again only to find out that Mint House had significantly raised the price. Clearly, they didn't know about Mo Pop and once I told them they raised their prices. I messaged them requesting a refund for the difference between the new and original price, and they informed me that they would look into it. Once again, they never responded to my reservation and it expired.
Mike Graves: Very nice. Great neighborhood. Short walking distance to the stadium and downtown area
andrew brown: Haven't stayed yet but I'm concerned about my booking can't get thru to any agents already. Was charged 600 for two nights stay and another 200 sec deposit couldn't take a photo of my license on your app or upload

Teresa Corey: We reserved a room at the Shinola to celebrate our 18th Wedding Anniversary. Checking in was great. We liked our room but when we took the comfortor off, we found several hairs on the sheets... ruined our first experience here ! We think the sheets weren't changed from the last guest.... also found hairs on the wash cloths! The room was so extremely noisy! You could hear the traffic from Woodward.Didn't sleep well. Beware ! !!
Scott: We were very impressed with the entire experience. The staff is wonderful!
Joe N: Very nice hotel, the staff were friendly and answered all of our questions. No issues with valet service either. But the bad review is because a neighboring bar had music so loud well past 2 AM that it was literally shaking the walls of our room. We called the front desk and they told us there was really nothing they could do, but did offer to send up ear plugs. I feel like for the price we paid for our room, we should not have had to deal with this. I understand it’s not the hotels fault, but it did negatively impact our experience.
Amy Hasselbring: My husband and I stayed and attended a wedding at Shinola this past weekend. WOW. What a beautiful hotel. First of all the staff is amazing, thank you Mika, and Q for the warm and welcoming check-in and check-out. We felt like family. Everyone was wonderful. Our room was spotless, spacious, and just beautiful. The wedding venue was gorgeous, and the food was OUTSTANDING. Very impressed with this hotel. We live 40 minutes away and decided to get a room. So glad we did. We will be back.
Albin Berberovic: Experience and food are awesome.

Matthew Sinclair: Slipped inside the hotel when out for a brisk jaunt. The Evening Bar was closed but the hotel bar was open and quite inviting. Warm tones and soothing lighting. Bar service was excellent and I had possibly the best White Russian I’ve ever tasted.
Cynthia Oland: We had an absolutely lovely experience staying at the Shinola Hotel. The location is premium, we saw a show at The Fillmore and the walk was less than 10 minutes. The bed was extremely comfortable, and I love the ambience the room has. Hardwood floors are so soft on the feet! Front desk staff was kind, lobby is stunning, and we ordered cappuccinos and a pastry basket from in room dining in the morning. Ask for a chocolate croissant! We parked about 2 blocks away in a parking garage, and the walk was about 6 minutes from the hotel. Not too bad at all. Would love to stay here again.
Edward Charleston (Ed): I was there for a 50th birthday celebration. Love the experience.Food & drinks: Good spreadNoteworthy details: 50th birthday celebration

Lovely Lynn aka Ms Unstoppable: Beautiful hotel and very helpful, courteous staff! I can't wait to visit the Marriott Hotel againRooms: Beautiful well decorated roomsNearby activities: This Hotel is in downtown Detroit near all of Detroit's downtown events RestaurantsSafety: Plenty of Security Guards! I felt safe during my entire visit at the MarriottFood & drinks: Everything was simply delicious
Drew Hirsch: Rooms could be updated and the checkin process improved. It took a lot of time to check in even though they weren't busy. Gym is nice and the hotel has great views. The people mover is attached to the building so it makes getting around Detroit easy. Heart plaza is right next door and Greek town and campus martius just a short walk away. Lots of near by restaurants.
Katie Prentice: I was the first time guest of this hotel about 2 weeks ago. I made the reservation, but my friend arrived before me because my flight was delayed. As a result of arriving after midnight, I was still in line after three others who arrived around the same time.I didn't manage to take any pictures of the room, but the room itself was a solid Marriott room. The beds were decent and they were plentiful pillows. Something I always appreciate. The bathroom was not exceptionally clean, I'd put it about it at meh, but the sheets and towels were fresh and we did have soap provided.Unfortunately, even after asking several times, during my entire 5-day stay, we only received housekeeping one time. The three times I asked at the front desk and gave them my room number, they told me that daily housekeeping should still be happening. Clearly this is an ongoing issue for this hotel. I was really surprised, because they could just as easily have said no, it wasn't included daily.Depending on the purpose of my travel, I'm potentially okay with less than daily housekeeping service (if I know in advance), only if there is an appropriate towel bar on which to put my towel. This hotel has one tiny bar in the bathtub area and a hook on the door. That's not acceptable for two or more humans who need to dry towels.I'm a relatively mellow traveler, but this was a very weird situation.I ate one time in the lobby restaurant for breakfast and ordered a pretty standard item and it was fine. Nothing special, but it was a good amount of food. The coffee was a little weak at the breakfast.Otherwise, I did visit the lobby bar one afternoon with several friends, and we experienced excellent service from the bartenders.I'm not sure what's going on with Marriott computers, but this appears to be 4/4 recent stays where my bonvoy points and nights were not credited to my account. I think it's because my friend checked in first and this somehow balled up my reservation. Now I have to wait 10 days to find out anything. The front desk staff are clearly overwhelmed. I believe they are doing the best they can, and every one of them was polite including arriving at midnight and departing later in the week at 6:00 a.m.I stayed here because this was the host hotel for an event I attended. I honestly don't know if I would go back voluntarily. The views are fun if you can look over into Canada; my view the other way into the city was interesting but nothing special. The architecture is fascinating, but if I return to Detroit I'll probably stay somewhere else.
Darrel Boos: I had to call the front desk dozens of times over the course of 3.5 hours just to get some toilet paper so that I could use the toilet in my room.Nearby activities: Allot of things to do a see nearbyWalkability: Allot of things to do nearbyFood & drinks: Nice restaurants nearby

Chris McKerrow: Really 3.5 stars. Check in often one's first experience with a hotel and needs improvement. Long lines and understaffed, while staff was very nice I was told at 3pm that check in was at 4 and room wasn't ready. I waited for a text until 4:30 and waited again in line only to be told I still didn't have a room. After making my case, the receptionist was able to find a room for me. Rooms were Marriott standard - comfortable and functional. Elevators are old and there aren't enough for the number of people staying here - and, one day I was on the elevator stuck between floors for a few minutes. I have to give the staff a shout-out - restaurant staff works hard in a busy bar. Receptionists are all very helpful but in the end it's a 3.5 star stay.
Nurgül Kılıç: The location is really nice, I definitely recommend you to stay
Carrie Adams: I’m a very mellow hotel guest. I don’t look for minor issues to complain about and let many things roll off my back. I’ve literally never complained at a Marriott hotel. Ever. This hotel is an awful example of the Marriott chain. One thing I cannot abide is consistent poor service. This Marriott is consistent in only one area. Bad service.First day, I had the great luck to get it wait in a super long check in line not once but twice. I had checked in via the app the evening before, as I usually do. I arrived before posted check-in time but wanted to drop my luggage while waiting for the room. After waiting in line for about half an hour, I was informed that a generic request I had added when booking (king bed, nice view if possible) would prevent the mobile key from alerting me to the room availability. No problem, they will call me as soon as the room is available. My phone number was confirmed, I asked about leaving my luggage, where I was directed to take it back down to a lower floor (where I originally entered) to drop off with bell services. The main entrance *does not* have any type of bell services signs and bell services is in a hidden side door. Really odd. The bell services person has been the only bright spot in this whole ordeal (isn’t that a sad statement). He was great and lovely in general. After wandering for several hours and it now being AFTER check-in time with no phone call as promised and no alert, I headed back to the hotel where I was lucky enough to wait in another 45 minute line. The front desk person was obviously exhausted and overworked, but was helpful in providing directional cues because this hotel is not intuitive designed to say the least. Finally got into my room over an hour after the check-in time and after waiting over an hour in two lines. Yay!Housekeeping was not providing their a-game. Hair from a past guest was left on the bathroom door (a lovely, large clump of hair). Gross. No hand soap was provided, so to wash my hands I need to go to the shower and use the body gel and wall-locked pump to get some soap. Classy.(I’ve confirmed with several other guests staying here that they too did not receive hand soap so this is a THING apparently and not an oversight as we all individually assumed…what a weird choice to make for cost-cutting. Who needs clean hands?!?!)Crumbs aligned the floor between the two beds. Again, I’m pretty mellow so I figured the beds were clean and I could handle not hanging my towels on the bathroom hook to avoid a clump of gross hair until housekeeping came by the next day.The word count limits me from clearly expressing all of the issues, but as succinctly as possible: dirty hotel room, no housekeeping service yet during my stay (and finally requesting today was met with what I can only describe as annoyance that I asked for something that should have been done), two hours to get ice that was ultimately unusable, broken doors, broken safe and many hours to even get someone to show up to make a super simple fix (reset the code), and on and on and on. I didn’t ask but a front desk person assured me that a manager would DEFINITELY be following-up about the issues. One guess as to whether the manager has called to follow up. Yeah, this is obviously a cultural issue. It starts at the top. There is zero accountability or follow-up and most definitely zero sense of urgency to fix issues that they have created themselves.AVOID AVOID AVOID
Noe Guevara: I just had 2 watches and 2 bottles of cologne stolen from my room. Front desk told me they can't check who accessed my room via a key card and that there's no cameras they can check. Filing a police report now. DO NOT STAY HERE!Rooms: 1/5|Service: 1/5 …More
