k: Wonderful bike store ran by a welcoming and knowledgeable staff. After getting hit by a car on my ebike, which is a different brand, Carl and Jason were very helpful in me getting a plan together, contacting the other party for insurance information, and ultimately, repairing my bike in less than a week. The only reason they couldn't do it sooner is we were waiting on parts, but as soon as the parts came in, it was a same day fix.Whether you're a biker already or someone looking to get into it, I cannot recommend this store enough for the culture, experience, and costs they offer. At this point I consider the staff my friends, and am happy to stop throughout the month. In the spring and summer they host high-profile events that connect and strengthen the biking community of Detroit.
Erin Whitney: We went to get a private lesson with the expert mechanic. We were newbies, he was very patient and taught us how to do the basics - a tire change and how to maintain and clean the bike.

Keya: the customer service here is atrocious. first off Jason didn't tell me they don't have the items I reserved in stock. after wasting a drive only because he said the items were being held, only to find they were COMPLETELY not at all the same items. how two different models can have the same stock number is beyond me. and now the shop refuses to practice the simple courtesy of returning one simple phone call despite saying they will in 10 minutes every time they answer. apparently they exist in some alternate reality where time doesn't exist and don't expect their words to carry any value whatsoever.

Eric Martin: I think the bikes are too expensive even though they seem to be good quality electric bikes. Still don't think they're worth that much I checked them all the lowest prices was from $1,500 up till $6,,000 and something dollars. However I like and recommend to everybody who rides bikes, there their anti-flat protection called armor which goes inside the tire and over the inner tube I felt inside of it with my fingers and its pretty thick in the middle in 15 to 17 mm if I remember right which feels thick enough to me to prevent most or all things one may run over from giving one a flat. When I get the money I plan on going in and getting some for my bike. Like they're thick strong made bike baskets too. They're stronger than the ones I have on mine and are better for me or anyone who carries groceries in there baskets like me. I think I'll get one of their baskets too when I get the money. I don't like that none or most of their e-bikes a lot of the type but allow you to go without pedaling.

Nat Zorach: I brought my bike in for repair and I'm still having the same issues, so I'm a bit annoyed as it means I now have to bring it the whole way back and get more expensive parts replaced, even though the mechanic assured me nothing was wrong with the rear cassette (chain skipping constantly on higher gears). Also, they charged $42 for "parts" for a chain even though I have the maintenance plan for my bike. A bike chain is like $15 or $20 tops? I'm not sure how this works. Anyway I'll update if I have any more experiences. They have a great selection of stuff here overall. I don't have generally good feelings about ACF, but this spot delivers in the retail experience overall.

B Bowen: Great customer service and excellent price!The motor I ordered for my treadmill was on back-order, so FPW contacted me to ensure I wanted to wait for the order to come through. They called me and emailed me to ensure I was notified. They gave me an estimated time to fulfill the order and beat their estimate by a several weeks. Awesome customer service.The motor I ordered arrived in in good condition because it was packaged well. The installation instructions were easy to follow - my treadmill was running again in less than an hour.I looked at more than 8 websites, including ebay for the motor and it was $100 cheaper on FPW than any other site.The treadmill is like new and I couldn't be happier! Thanks, FPW. I'll be back if I need more parts, so hopefully never, but it's more than likely I'll return.

Jason Lewis: Incredible experience from start to finish! We purchased a Bodycraft RFT, bumper plates, and additional cable handles and couldn't be happier. Matt (the manager) was super professional and friendly. He was able to answer all of my questions and provide information about the rack, and even discussed options for a better at home workout with the rack. Our rack was back ordered and he kept us informed every step of the way. It took a couple of weeks to receive but once Exercise Warehouse received word of its arrival, Matt contacted me to schedule the delivery within a week.The guys that came out to deliver and install the rack did all the work in under 2 hours and required no work for me. They were very professional! I will 100% come back to Exercise Warehouse and wouldn't purchase equipment anywhere else.
Don Akers: My wife and I were looking for a rower. We first went to the Utica store, where the salesman, Josh, enthusiastically recommended the Aviron rower. He did this despite the fact that he did not have one to demo in the Utica store - he could have pushed something else in the store in an attempt to get an immediate sale but he instead encouraged me to go to the Livonia store to look at the Aviron. I went to the Livonia store and spoke with Matt who did a complete demonstration of this state of the art rowing machine for me. The Exercise Warehouse salespeople made shopping in brick and mortar stores worthwhile - and we love our new rower!

April: Great customer service! We purchased a Horizon treadmill in December and are so happy with it!. No pressure sales, knowledgeable and helpful staff. Delivery and set up was perfect. Four months later, they were super helpful when the belt needed it's 150 mile maintenance, and walked me through the process with no fuss. Very happy with the product and the service!
Paul Mazzola: A great experience wire to wire. Visited the Livonia location to possibly purchase a used Lifetime Fitness C7 functional trainer. The manager, Matt, was very helpful and answered all questions. Felt like I got a extremely good price for the unit relative to its new-unit price, and also liked that I was supporting a local business. Bought it on Wednesday afternoon; was delivered and assembled on Friday. Delivery team was squarely on time at the front end of the delivery window provided. Matt followed up via text a week or so later to check in on my enjoyment of the unit, and offer future assistance if needed. Overall, nice to have a big purchase go so smoothly.

Suanne Zager: Great experience at Exercise Warehouse with Matt! He assisted me an making a decision about whether to buy an exercise machine and what brand to buy. I have arthritis in both knees and am trying to put off knee replacements for as long as possible. Matt answered all my questions about elliptical machines and did not try to oversell me in a machine with bells and whistles that i do not need. His delivery team was very respectful and worked hard to get the equipment into my basement. Matt has made himself available to me via phone when I’ve had questions regarding understanding my new machine. I highly recommend Exercise Warehouse especially if you’re looking for a high quality piece of equipment that costs not much more than what the other manufacturers sell but is much better quality. My machine is smooth, quiet and runs on ball bearings. I suspect I’ll get many many years of exercise out of this machine.

Andrew Shannon: I came in for a pre-race safety check and a spare tube. The safety check was very quick because nothing was wrong and they didn’t charge me for it! They informed me about using too much chain lube which I appreciate as a new bike owner. Bought the tube and left with a smile on my face ready for my first triathlon. I will be coming back for all bike related purchases!

Jack McClear: I hope whoever makes the schedule for this store reads this review.Went in a few times about a month ago and was helped by Chris, who had a phenomenal attitude, upbeat energy, immense knowledge, and truly cared about every aspect of my bike fit. He saw me the second I walked in and gave me his contact number to reach him if I ever needed anything.On the other hand, I walked in when Chris was not working one day and did not receive the same commitment to service. Took a while just for someone to tell where the bike tubes were. 5 stars, but because of Chris, give that guy a raise and some more shifts.

Mindy Markowitz: I bought an electric bike during COVID and from the first time I walked in the door I have had the most wonderful and positive experiences! Paula was amazing at helping me decide which bike would suit me best for my needs. I’ve taken it in a few times for tweaks and updates as I bought a three year warranty and every single time the staff has been great! I recently had to get something repaired/replaced and Daniel took care of it. He didn’t try to sell me something I didn’t need and was the friendliest and kindest young man! His dad, Dan, helped me too and it must run in the family because father and son are terrific and really know the bikes! The only negative would be that I was quite disappointed to learn I won’t be able to buy one more three year warranty in June (as I was told when I purchased my bike) because new owners took over in the fall and they discontinued the warranty policy. (That’s the reason for 4/5 stars). Unfortunately that means going forward everything is out of pocket, including my tune ups so I’m going to have to go elsewhere as those prices seemed extremely high. If the new company doesn’t provide a three year warranty like I had, I would have to say look around because that was a great option to have on a bike you paid a lot of money for. That being said if money is no object then I highly recommend see Paula for your new bike purchase and Dan or Daniel for your service needs.

JAMaxe Restoration (John M): I've been cycling since 1976 and this is a first rate bicycle shop. The staff in the Royal Oak store is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Every time I walk in the store its a pleasure. I also like that the shop has a pretty good stock of accessories. When considering a new (unfamiliar) accessory its important to put your hands on the item before purchasing as opposed to buying online and the endless cycle of ship, receive return.

Rochelle Bono: At first glance the store looks like it has more bikes available than what’s actually for sale b/c numerous bikes have “sold” tags on them. They don’t seem to keep size Small bikes very stocked. You have to ask them to price match in store the same bikes selling for less on their website. And on busy days, like today, they need 1 more associate and seem to be disorganized. First time was a great experience. Test rode an Ebike & had numerous employees helping b/c they were slow (4 on staff that day) 2nd time, not so good. I called prior to arriving to express wanting to test ride mountain bikes and asked if someone would be available to go on a test ride with me in which I was told Yes. When I got there they were busy (which was expected…still 4 people working) but this time I was ignored for 15 minutes while waiting near the register for someone to help me. They guy at the register looked at me a few times but didn’t say anything. People who came in after me were helped before me. When I decided to leave, I told several associates why I was leaving and they both said they were busy. I would’ve been fine waiting if they would have acknowledged me….but I was ignored. The flip flopping in the treatment is why I’m going to look elsewhere for a better bike b/c if I’m going to take a bus/ride my bike to a shop to test some out, I’d like to know that my business would be welcomed. Today was not very welcoming.

I have been cycling for over 25 years, visiting many shops throughout the years, but the service my son & I received when he purchased his Roscoe 8 was truly amazing!!Rick greeted us as we entered the doors, and helped us get started to make sure we had the essentials for the bike we wanted. After the purchase, we met with Chris. Chris spent almost a complete hour with us explaining pressure of the forks, tires, and how to adjust for different terrain. Did a final quick fit to make sure we had everything dialed in for great riding.I highly recommend this place for all your cycling needs.

Tyler Hamilton: I went into this store looking for some assistance purchasing hockey equipment for when I play drop in hockey. As soon as I walked in, the gentleman working at the time seemed annoyed I was there. One of the guys told me that his hockey inventory was low therefore he probably wouldn’t have what I needed. I ended up finding all the equipment myself as the gentleman that assisted me right when I walked in, walked away as soon as he showed me where the skates were at and what size might work for me. The workers seemed to be more concerned with going home and what they were doing after work than helping a customer who was looking to make a purchase. I ended up buying the equipment I needed from there, but with minimal assistance from the people working there. I would look for a different location or store if you would like someone to actually assist you.

Gebo's Garage: This is our first time buying hockey equipment for our 10 year old beginner. Caleb at this location made it effortless for us to get everything that is required, the right size and the right price. This was probably the best shopping experience I've had. We were in and out with everything needed. No up-sell either, rather the complete opposite. Thanks for making this a great experience for us and our son. This place has earned our repeat business because of this young man, Caleb for his knowledge and excellent customer service skills.

1tangodown: As always, the Grosse Pointe store staff were five-star American Cycle and Fitness representatives and now Trek. Steve and Michelle are a fantastic team. When Michelle moved to the Grosse Pointe Store from Macomb, I moved all of my business to Grosse Pointe, including my police agency's account. I would still be waiting for the four police patrol bikes we ordered if it weren't for Steve and Michelle. They practically built a package for us, and we got the bikes last July. Since I have been working with Grosse Pointe, all my friends and family have gone there because they love the family feeling they get when they enter the shop.Steve and Michelle, I don't know what I would do without you and your staff.Keep up the great work,Joe

Nathan Vitale: I rarely write reviews, but for this new bike fit and purchase (with multiple accessories,) I felt its the least I could do to give credit to this outstanding business. By far the best purchase experience I have EVER had. I have been shopping for a bike for a few weeks now and have been in several bike stores within that timeframe in the metro detroit area. Not one of the other stores came anywhere close to this experience, buying a new bike was turning out to be a nightmare, until I walked in the door at this store. “Staff is extremely knowledgeable and professional” is an understatement. Steve knows exactly how to talk to you and explain in detail all of your options and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish. From the minute I walked in the door to the minute I left my girlfriend and I kept looking at each other and whispering “this place is unbelievable”. My drive to this store is approximately 45 minutes and if I ever need to purchase “anything” bike related or have any service done, I will happily make the trip. Coming from someone who went to multiple stores to get this purchase done, please do yourself a favor and go here first, you will save a lot of time and headache. Thank You Steve. I went into the store right before closing for a gift for my boyfriend, and not only did Steve greet me with such a warm and positive welcome, but he carefully listened to what I was looking for and took the time to go through the options...never trying to oversell me, but hearing my budget and needs and found the perfect bike. THEN, after finding out I was pregnant, offered to help me get it into my house/attic...talk about excellent customer service!!! Marcia Spivey: The owner price gauges— I’ve been going to this bike shop since 1996..for the past 10years I just stayed b/c I am a Detroit loyalist however april 7, 2021 was the breaking point. I WAS QUOTED BY THE OWNER $100 for a bike tune up(starting at this amount). The same bike that I’ve been taking to him for the past 3years. He is overpriced and has no respect for loyalty. I was also told the return time would be 7-10days and that I should be lucky that I’m getting my bike in when I am.He believes that he is the only person in the area who can do the job so he charges based on demand. Well this isn’t true! There is an awesome bike shop on Gratiot ALLIED CYCLE SHOP. They were helpful and didn’t treat me as if They were doing me a favor. The tune up starts at $49.99 and the turn around is 2-3 days.Stay away from Bike Tech if you value your hard earned money and customer service!This guy should be ashamed of himself for price gauging..I purchased a bike basket from him last year for $40 — the same basket was at Allied bike shop for $23.99.I WILL NOT TAKE MY MONEY HERE EVER AGAIN AND ADVISE SAME.

KappaGecko: If you plan on buying a bicycle from Dick’s Sporting Goods. Make sure it is completely how you like it as you only have a 24 hour window to exchange or return it. They will not work with you anytime over the 24 hour period thus meaning you are stuck with a bike that might be either too large or too small of a frame. Terrible customer service.

We dont go there often, but lately, the few times a year we do the cashiers always seem like we're putting them out by having them ring our products up. This last time was by far the worst. You name it, they have it: snowboards, ski equipment, golf clubs, hockey sticks, etc. What a positive sensation I had when I left David, the store's owner store. This was an old-fashioned well run business.

Eric Riddle: If you're not from Ypsilanti going to the Throw Shop,This is the ONLY place to be going for disc golf.Just bought 2 zuca carts here last week.They stock every major brand (innova, discraft, mvp, discmania) and even the minor ones (streamline, kastaplast, westside).They have all the accessories your looking for, and they consistently get in new shipments of whatever disc is being released.They also buy and sell used discs! You can sell them unwanted, and they have tons of CHEAP used plastic.Obviously they sell all the other sports stuff a play it again would like weights, baseball, hockey, basketball, skating, etc)But I see this as metro Detroit's disc golf store.
Melanie Cochrill: We drove all the way from northeast Macomb County to go to this store. We are SO happy we did. Dennis helped us out. We needed little league machine pitch mitts and a bat. We weren't really sure what size mitts or bat to get. Dennis was beyond amazing, patient, helpful, and informational. He even heard us use our children's names and he used their madness when taking to them. That is not very common. It was really great to see them being treated that well and their wants and needs being considered. We can't recommend this location or person enough. The selection was good considering that the season has started for many places. The prices were fantastic. Seriously... if your children need sports equipment this place is THE place to go!
