A friend of mine goes here and her hair always looks amazing, and after several horrid haircuts from other establishments, I decided to give The Refinery a shot. OMG the BEST haircut I have EVER gotten! Kaylee was my stylist and she was amazing. My hair is long, thick, wavy/curly and she was so knowledgeable about how to cut it. Hanna Cook: Went to get my hair color corrected from brown to blonde. My hair ended up being blue/gray. Hair stylist also got blue all over blazer and just said sorry without offering to reimburse me. Told hair stylist i wanted beige blonde. Hair stylist gave me CPR to take home and do myself without any expression of fixing hair. Reached out THREE days in a row to have hair fixed and resolve situation. Manager out of office two days and then left a voicemail saying she wasnt available until the next day without any clarity on how to resolve situation. Sent clear photos and expression in a kind way. Third day asked for owner to return my call and still havent heard as of today.CLEAR LACK OF FOLLOW THROUGH with hair concerns. Glen Chamberlin: Only Laurel cuts my hair there. Nobody else. There are other hair dressers and stylists there, however, I've Never yet had to get my hair retrimmed or "fixed" after getting a haircut by Laurel at JC Penney's smart salon at Genesee Valley mall. And just recently a new manager has been hired, promising big changes by the time (6 weeks) I'm in need of another haircut.

Sandra Burtch: Our visit was not even worth a 1 star. We called JCPENNEY salon for my daughter to get her whole head/hair platinum blonde, her senior pictures were in one week and she was was getting her hair done for the pics - they even told us that it would take about 3 hours to do. We didn’t mind because she really wanted it done. We got to the salon, the lady at the desk confirmed what we were scheduled there and reminded us that it would take about 3 hours. The lady, I believe her name was KIM/Kimberly, took her back and didn’t even know what she was there for, and when she found out, she said that she couldn’t do it. When we explained all of it to the front desk, Kim told us that with all the customers, they probably couldn’t hear us on the phone when we made the appointment. It seems that if there was a lot of people there, you would pay extra attention to the person on the phone to make sure you got it right...I am very unhappy with the salon inside JCPenney’s. We used to get our hair done there, but I will not go back there anymore. Very unprofessional - and Kim was very rude to us. Very unprofessional. I would not recommend them at all to anyone unless you just want a plain haircut, at least not with KIM.

Took them back to jcpenney flint Salon the manager wouldn't let me exchange them without a receipt. Horrible service! I have always bought my salon products there.

She felt insulted when the “master hair designer” Kimberley started to comb her hair and told her “Your hair is so damaged. We need to cut it”. This is not the case. Her hair had been in a bun after doing a 12 hour shift at work and her hair was just tangled and dry. The stylist didn’t bother to apply water and brush it out. She came home visibly upset and explained that the stylist made her feel extremely uncomfortable. It’s over priced and the client relations are horrible. If you are looking for the worst possible customer service, come here and you won’t be disappointed.
