RaeShawn Jones: My husband and I started attending this church consistently about a year ago. I attended it about 20 years ago as a kid with my mom for a while as well. The resources within this church is PHENOMENAL!! Their investment into their young people alone is amazing. I volunteer in the Kids First and Nursery twice a month and I absolutely LOVE their staff and the passion they truly have for our young people. Seriously, bring your elementary-middle school kids to just one Sunday school class and I almost guarantee they’ll be asking to come back.They have small groups for just about everything. My husband and I will be checking out the Thursday night marriage group soon and we are excited to be doing so. Everyone has always been so kind and welcoming to US. After searching a while for a church home, we landed on this church and have stuck with it thus far.I wish that I could say that I invite anyone to check it out, but I can’t. This church can sometimes be extremely political and I am NOT a fan. I have SO many loved ones we support in the LGBTQ community and I would love to invite them to a service but they would not feel comfortable. Anti-homosexuality is mentioned sometimes more than once during services. They were also VERY vocal about their views and Roe vs. Wade being over turned. Pastor Sam has so many sermons that speak to me and my husband, but I wish that those views/stances were kept out of the message. “Come as you are” should be just as it says. I’m not behind making ANYONE feel unwelcome or uncomfortable in any church community. Being gay/queer is not a “condition” that needs to be prayed away or healed. I really do believe that political views should be left at the door when walking into any church. We should be more focused on what brings us together. ALL of us. It makes me really sad and I literally flinch every time these things are mentioned in a sermon. It is very distracting, making it difficult if not impossible to overlook while continuing to engage in said sermon.I would say “other than that it’s great”. But that would minimize the enormity of filtering out an entire community of individuals.My family and I love the church. We love the services they offer. We love all the people/servers we have encountered. I just wish that I could say “Join my church and come as you are because all are welcome!” I do not support political views being pushed in the House of God, but I also know that these aren’t the views of all those who attend this church and I have never encountered these prejudices first hand. No church is perfect, just as no one is perfect.
michael mooney: Love this church. Just felt a void Palm sunday..No palm branches..Be nice to have that with all the children holding them. Miss the young boys in ties and girls in white dresses on Easter dress..
Matt Trubac: I can’t believe the sound level of the services. Sound is air moving, and they move enough air to travel from the speakers in their sanctuary, through the interior doors and walls, into the atrium spaces, through the exterior block walls, across the parking lot, through a line of trees, across my backyard, and through the walls of my house. It’s an annoying nuisance. Especially when trying to put kids to bed on a school night, and the frames on the walls of our home are rattling. The music goes on until nearly 9 PM.I tried speaking with the leadership once, and they more or less said they don’t care. They’ve done what they can to isolate the sound, and they won’t change anything.I did try a service once, and it was just odd political messaging trying to influence votes. Not what I was looking for. I found a church with more respect and dignity.

Lisa Lynn84: I love that this church FOLLOWS THE BIBLE.Evidently some people giving bad reviews don't believe this is a requirement for a church. Well, perhaps find a church that tells you exactly what your itching ears want to hear! There are plenty of them.
Scott Royce (singingscott): I love this church because unlike more and more churches these days, GR First does not preach religion. They preach Christianity and there is a 180 dergree Physical difference between the two. They will not bow down to man's law before God's law. They preach "One Man. One Woman." And they stand firm on their Godly principals. Too many churches have given into LGBTQ, GR First preaches what God wants. Not what man wants.
Chase Shooltz: Such a beautiful place. Pastor Sam and Brenda. The choir. The entire team is so fantastic and loving. If you’re new to Jesus or want to be, I recommended this place.
Erica Jo Byers Pelton: We have been invited here many times by different friends. The worship was really good and I was very impressed with Pastor Sam and his message. It was fresh and applicable and our entire family learned something from it. The church experience was great but they do not have enough cut outs for wheelchairs. Also, the cut outs should be for people in wheelchairs first. There was one lady with a walker sitting in one of them so I sat in the only other one in the middle section. The usher came and greeted us and told me that I was in someone’s spot who regularly attends there. She said “I don’t know what they are going to do if they come now“. She almost made me feel like I should move in case they come (which they did not). Also, when the pastor told everyone to say hi to those around them, nobody in the row in front of us turned around. They just said hi to the people they knew. I know that the church cannot control everyone but it would’ve been nice for the first time there to feel welcome by the congregation as well. I have always been one of the people in the first impressions ministry so I know how important those first visits are. Besides the lack of cut outs for those in wheelchairs and the experiences at our seat, I thought it was a great church. We would definitely visit again to get more of an overall impression. I do think there needs to be more cut outs though(Especially in the middle sections. I don’t want to always have to be in the back of the church).
Trevor Lambert: Hook the kids young, because no adult with a functioning bologna detector could be made to believe this stuff. Giant murals of cartoon Moses controlling water with a magic stick, Jonah being swallowed by a fish, virgin birth, etc. We need to grow up as a society at some point and stop lying to children.

Tim Kroll: In 2017 I came out to the world that I was gay. Up until that point I had served faithfully at this church for more than 20 years. I am ashamed to say I led anti-gay conversion courses. I had convinced myself that being gay was caused by contributing factors in my environment during my formative years. This teaching has caused me and so many others much damage. Unless I subscribe to this terrible theology and admit I have a problem, then I am not welcome. I cannot walk in the doors of GR First as a gay Christian man, who loves God…..and it’s all because I am gay. Last night I attended the 2022 Good Friday service. The place was packed with 4000 people. When I walked in and asked the usher, whom I have known for years, for a bulletin and communion elements. He looked at me and said “no” and turned his back to me. I wish I could say it was just this one man with any problem…..I know better.“Bringing people to Christ and equipping them to to be like Him” is their slogan. Their disdain for the gay community is not like Christ at all. In fact it is quite the opposite. The slogan should end with “equipping them to be like US”. The Lord Jesus Christ accepts me and loves me as the gay man he created.
John Kronewitter: I’ve served here for about 8 or 9 months. Pastor Taylor has a real passion for youth that is infectious. Pastor Sam is a genuine, kind leader. Before I came here, I thought all mega churches were basically bad, and it wasn’t ever a “good model”. This church changed my tune. What a wonderful place to be.They promote the pursuit of Holiness, Love, Truth, The Trinity (INCLUDING the Holy Spirit). I love this church and the leadership here. PLEASE give them a chance!

Mahogany Brown: A few months back Pastor Sam did an inspiring sermon about being involved in the community ,volunteering, and serving God within the Church. At the end of the sermon the volunteers passed out volunteer forms to submit I decided to submit the application to become a volunteer with in Grand Rapids First. Because of the sermon I thought to myself "I want to be a better person, I want to help", little did I know that a couple weeks later I would be called for an interview where a Pastor and his wife not only knew everything about my personal life (I am part of the GLBT+) but also use my personal life against me and communicated that I was not allowed to be a volunteer based on my personal life. He mentioned that me volunteering at the church would make the church look bad and they just dont support my lifestyle.What lifestyle is that? I'm a nice, sincere, and kind person.This has affected me very much, and I'm truly uncomfortable in Churches now.Why deny someone an opportunity to better themselves?But thankfully this has not hurt my relationship with God. I pray that Grand Rapids first becomes more accepting and less judgemental.
Katie Vazquez: Honesty this used to be my church home and I love my youth leader I am currently 16 today and last night I went to there youth group and I have always found that place a safe place for me to talk about what I’m upset about and need prayer for but last night I thought I would dress up and be fancy because my birthday was the next day I had a long coat on that went to my knees and I had a black dress on I was fully covered plus I had boots on that went passed my knee anyway one of the leaders I have known came up to me and said cover up I have worked on my mental health for so long and I’m final realizing I don’t need people to except myself and be confident with who am by the way 2 inches of my thigh was showing I will never go back I do not feel welcomed and judged like I need to be someone else which I won’t do on top of that she said I was going distract boy but that’s not my problem that’s the boy’s problem but anyway I don’t recommend sending your teenager here

Denise Rolland: This is a great worship place in a great place to go to really get into the Bible studies if you are looking to learn more about the Bible you should visit Lamb of God Church. Have visit this place many times and it have been very helpful to me in a religious aspect or spiritual aspect of my life.
