Elizabeth Tucker: I reached out to Gold Coast Doulas after a few weeks of struggling with our 2 1/2 year old daughter’s sleep. She had always been a great sleeper thanks to another program we used when she was 8 months old, but after going through some huge life changes in the last several months, her sleep (and ours) has just gotten worse. I got a super quick reply which was appreciated given the urgency I felt with our situation! Kay (Kristen) connected with us initially via phone call and then email and then we had our 60 minute consultation. She offered us some suggestions and ideas for a plan that were really well thought through. We didn’t feel forced into anything and truly just felt supported and heard. I love that this was a personalized consultation instead of following another program because we could really verbally process everything we were going through and Kay could get a full understanding of our situation and individualize the plan just for us. She answered all of our questions and encouraged us with evidence based research and information. We implemented Kay’s suggestions straight away and within a week our super sleeper was excited to get into her big girl bed, falling asleep independently, and staying asleep through the night! She is waking up refreshed and just seems happier, and us parents are now able to enjoy some quiet time, together time, and get a good night’s sleep as well. Julie Walser: Lisa was truly incredible during labor, and I could not have asked for a better doula experience. She was such a help answering questions via text in advance, and I felt prepared going into my induction appointment. She spent 24 hours at the hospital with us during labor and never waned in her energy or warmth. She was amazing with helping me into different positions, encouraging breathing exercises, helping me in the shower, and constantly massaging me so I could be as comfortable as possible. She came prepared with soft lights for the delivery room to a handheld fan and hot/cold washcloths to help with my temperature - all such a comfort. When I was pushing, she was a true cheerleader, leading counts to ten for 3 hours with the nurses and students in the room. I felt so encouraged and empowered because of her steadfast support. Thanks to her preparedness and expertise, the pressure was off my husband to remember labor positions and breathing techniques and he was able to focus on comforting and supporting me in other ways. Lisa feels like part of our family after sharing the experience of bringing our baby into the world.

Kate Yep: I highly recommend Gold Coast Doulas! Katie was our doula and she was a crucial member of my birth support team. She supported us throughout the pregnancy by answering (many) questions we had via text, and sending us articles to read when we wanted more information on topics such as circumcision. She was amazing in supporting us during the birth process as well. She met us at the hospital and stayed for the entire 23 hour labor and delivery! She helped with position changes, reminders to use the bathroom, massage, and making sure we felt comfortable with the suggestions given by the hospital staff. She showed my husband how to give counter pressure so he could be more actively involved in supporting my physical needs. She also stepped out to give us a moment as a couple right before our son was born which we appreciated. Don’t know what we would have done without her.

They have always been a fantastic resource and are always there to help in any way they can. My labor did not go as expected and having them as my doulas were the best decision I could have made! Lee Ann was my advocate in the delivery room and made sure my voice was heard. She always made us feel comfortable in any stressful situation we ran into. I don't know what we would have done without her there with us and there are truly no words to describe how thankful we are to have them a part of our team. After birth, I needed lactation support. I was having issues and I was contacted very quickly by Cami. As a new mom, she helped me navigate nursing in the first week when I was struggling. I am very thankful for her support as well. We will be using their services for any and all support in the future!

From the classes they offered to the support I received prenatal, I felt as prepared for labor and delivery as I could be. When the day finally came and my water broke, things didn't go how I'd hoped, and my doulas were right there the whole time, supporting and coaching me to help bring my baby into the world safely and comfortably. Leah Crawford: So glad I decided to hire a doula (Julie S) for my pregnancy! During the prenatal period she was so supportive and helped ease my high anxiety of having my first baby. I had terrible sciatic nerve pain and she helped send different stretches to try. My labor of course didn't exactly go as planned (I woke up at 0730 with contractions 5 minutes apart and had my baby at 1158). She provided amazing support, not only to the birth person, but the birthing persons partner, as well as myself (as a Doula In training). She gave the birthing person an amazing sense of control. She gave me a sense of “I CAN do this.” Kiara constantly remained calm and in control. Encouraging everyone while carrying the weight of the birth! Kiara was amazing and I also had the opportunity to meet another doula who was graduating from their doula collective and Alyson rocked at it! They helped me stay calm and focused on my breathing which really helped me get through each contraction. I loved how they were both able to coach my husband so that he would know how to help me through the whole birth process. They supported me in all of my decisions and really helped me feel confident in my choice when I was faced with two options that diverted from my birth plan. With their help and encouragement I was able to achieve the VBAC I so badly wanted! I believe every woman should have the support of a doula during their birth so if you are looking for one, I would highly recommend this doula company!
